Description[]

Digimon VS Pokemon! When it comes to mons with fire abilities from these franchises, The Courage of Fire and the Flame Pokemon rank very high in this flaming hierarchy and are fan favorites for good reasons. A blazing inferno of a battle is about to take place so let’s see who comes out on top; Flamedramon or Infernape?

Intro[]

Boomstick: Are you all ready to feel the heat? If not, that’s on you as we set this episode ablaze. It’s about time for another Pokemon VS Digimon battle and this time 2 of the most well-known and fan favorite fire types of their respective franchises will enter the ring.

Wiz: Skilled in the art of combat and having the ability to release deadly fire attack is what these two combatants have in common. Mons of these species have also been used by protagonists of each series like Ash Ketchum and Davis Motomiya.

Boomstick: Flamedramon, Bearer of The Digi-Egg of Courage.

Z Intro Flamedramon

Wiz: and Infernape, The Flame Pokemon of The Sinnoh Region.

Z Intro Infernape

Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.

Flamedramon[]

Wiz: Do you know what an Armor level digivolution is Boomstick?

Boomstick: Armor level? Can’t say I have ever heard of it. Please tell me however that it’s not a level higher than Mega level. Digimon are already overpowered enough so even more power would be too ridiculous for even me to take seriously at least when I am not drunk.

Wiz: You’ll be glad to hear then that it’s not a level higher than Mega. Through the use of a Digi-Egg, Rookie and Champion Digimon can digivolve into a unique armor form that depends on which Digi-Egg is used.

Boomstick: Both Rookie and Champions can digivolve into this new bizarre digivolution stage so that means Armor is between Rookie and Champion along with also between Champion and Ultimate? That does not make sense. Here I though the regular digivolution line of In-Training, Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, and Mega was confusing enough

Wiz: Its more complicated than that. Armor Digimon are considered majority of the time to be around Champion level when it comes to level scaling but there has been a couple of instances throughout the Digimon multiverse where some are stated to be Ultimate levels in terms of strength.

Boomstick: Confusing digivolution trees aside, there is one Digimon among all these armor forms that stand out me for its cool design and blazing fire power. Flamedramon might look like a grown-up version of Veemon but that sweet armor really does make all the difference.

Wiz: Flamedramon is an armored dragon man digivolved from the already mentioned Veemon using the Digi-Egg of Courage. Known as the "Fire of Courage", these Armor Digimon have their abilities rise like blazing flames as they attain this form.

Boomstick: Blazing is very much the correct word when describing those flamethrower arms of this armored badass. Flamedramon can shoot multiple fire blasts from its hands with Flaming Fist, encase itself with a shield of fire with Flame Shield, set its sharp and cool looking forehead spike on fire with Flame Shot, and create pillars of fire by firing some well-aimed fire balls with Mega Napalm. Its signature technique is Fire Rocket where the dragon man surrounds itself with an aura of fire before shooting towards the opponent like well a rocket funnily enough.

Wiz: Fire isn’t the only weapon as the Armor Digimon can also use its claws for techniques in combat such as Express Claw for a combo attack of claw strikes or Dramon Claw and Double Dramon Claw for slashing foes with the power of a dragon. With its powerful body, Flamedramon can perform Middle Tackle as well to push around powerful foes.

Boomstick: With techniques such Acceleration Boost for doubling the next attacks damage output and Cross Counter for performing an immediate counterattack upon getting bombarded with physical attacks, claw attacks become much more powerful but the same can be said about the dragon man’s fire techniques. Setting things on fire is so much more satisfying than clawing someone in the face.

Wiz: I know that to well after you set my latest experiment on fire. At least Flamedramon don’t have to worry much about being burning itself due to its Fire Aura 4 trait which increases the Digimon defense against fire-based attacks. The wielder of the Digi-Egg of Courage also gains an increase in speed and accuracy due other traits the species has in their arsenal like Speed 4 and Sniper 3.

Boomstick: Bringing up the trait system from Digimon world Dawn and Dusk eh! Those are some very useful skills that are always active. You forgot the most important one though that is from the Digimon Cyber sleuth game series with that being the support Skill Fight or Flight.

Wiz: Fight or Flight boosts Flamedramons strength by 20% when the Armor Digimon’s health drop under 50% so it is just as Boomstick says. This support skill is indeed an invaluable part of an Flamedramons arsenal.

Boomstick: So far a lot of boring stats and data have been brought up so let’s see what a good specimen of a Flamedramon can do in action. That number unfortunately is very small as surprisingly enough; there is a lack of notable dragon men wearing flame armor despite this guy’s crazy popularity

Wiz: Indeed. Unfortunately when it comes to noteworthy Flamedramons in the Digimon multiverse, there really is only one that comes to mind that hales from the Digimon Adventure continuity and is the Digimon partner of Davis Motomiya.

Boomstick: That a bit sad but Quality is always better than quantity as proven with this Goggleheads flame armored fighter. Defeating groups of multiple Champion levels attacking all at once with ease such Frigimon, adorable snowmen with the power to turn people into icicles with one punch, and Guardromon, robotic Digimon with ironclad defenses, with a well-aimed Flaming Fist. The exception to the rule is when it comes to beer because then it’s always better with more.

Wiz: For being an Armor level, this Flamedramon is quite powerful. According to the Digimon Reference Book….

Boomstick: AKA the Pokedex of the Digimon franchise.

Wiz: … Monochromon is a Champion level with half its body being as hard as hard as diamond which includes its giant horn. It can use this to its advantage to smash though things such as solid rock while its special attack called Volcanic Strike is said to be used to spit out balls of volcanic fire. This is an example of an impressive Champion level Digimon and Flamedramon can best these Digimon with little difficulty. Using just its physical strength, the armor level can tackle Monochromon with enough force to make it stumble, stop its powerful charge forward before lifting it into the air and slamming the champion into the ground, swat away the volcanic strikes with a couple of punches, and continue fighting even after being headbutted into the air by its large horn.

Boomstick: The fact that this flame guy here can take on powerful Champions is no fluke. Take the ancient giant dinosaur Digimon Tyrannomon and DarkTyrannomon AKA one the original mons of the franchise and its dark palette swap for example. While its first encounter with a group of brainwashed Tyrannomon ended with the dragon man being utterly defeated, it was able to keep them at bay alongside fellow armor levels Digimon and Halsemon for a short time. Skip ahead a couple episodes, Flamedramon beat the shit out of some DarkTyrannomon which resulted in it breaking the teeth of one of them with a devastating punch to the face. DarkTyrannomon are apparently stronger than the original due to computer virus but I see no real big difference between the two as their fire blasts were easily blocked before one was utterly dunked on in a test of strength and was sent reeling backward with a Fire Rocket.

Wiz: Other impressive feats of the 02 Flamedramon that should be highlighted is defeating Digimon such as Woodmon and RedVegiemon, piercing the giant rock formation breaker Deltamons Triplex Force laser beam with Fire Rocket, and shown excellent agility as jumping up buildings to traverse a city filled with skyscrapers is no easy feat.

Boomstick: Is that the feat that impresses you the most Wiz? That’s child’s play compared to this fiery inferno that awakens my inner pyromaniac.

(Flamedramon defeats a Dokugumon with a Fire Rocket at the bottom of a pit. The impact caused a huge pillar of flames that covered the entirety of the large pit from side to side, bottom to top, and into the sky)

Boomstick: Now that’s how you squash a spider. It’s no wonder this walking flamethrower can melt ice thrown curtsey the hairy Champion Mojyamon and send Starmon flying a gigantic distance into a obelisk shaped Control Spire so hard it was destroyed with a similarly awesome blazing pillar of fire

Wiz: According to my calculations, the total energy required for such an inferno must be…..

Boomstick: Please don’t bore me the numbers and make these beautiful works of flaming art boring in the process. Focus on what you like most in a fighter instead; their IQ levels.

Wiz: Mathematics is not boring but neither is talking about the intelligence of most Digimon. While there are Digimon that act rather animalistic and communicates with growls, most Digimon can speak and think just like humans. Flamedramon is no exception to this rule and that makes him an efficient combatant who does not need tamers like Davis to tell him what to do all the time.

Boomstick: Fire beats intelligence any day of the week even if these flaming explosions are at the bottom tier of Digimon attack hierarchy.

Wiz: This impressive display of firepower might help with defeating powerful Champions but not so much when it comes to Ultimate and Mega level Digimon unfortunately. The Ultimate level Digitamamon extremely durable shell did not even get a scratch from Flamedramon fiery power and the Flame Rocket in particular did not manage to overpower the ultimate cyborg Andromon who could fight the Mega Machinedramon for a short time.

Boomstick: That’s not surprising since the power level difference between Champion, Ultimate, and Mega is frankly absurd. Machinedramon Giga Cannons can cause skyscrapers to crumble and survive an explosion several times the size of a skyscraper so you know Mega levels are OP. There was no way in hell that this Flamedramon was not going to be dedigivolved back to Veemon after getting bitched slapped by ultimate Digimon such as MetalGreymon and SkullGreymon who can one-shot most Champions.

Wiz: That’s not entirely correct as the 02 Flamedramon did once manage to hurt the Mega level MaloMyotismon and has also gotten up on his feet to continue the fight after being into a cliff wall so hard that a part of broke off by the Ultimate Antylamon. Of course, both situations were very situational and only occurred due to very special circumstances.

Boomstick: Don’t sugarcoat it wiz. Flame guy here stood no chance against these foes. The only reason it managed to scratch Malo at all was due to strange dream dimension which basically gave the dragon man a huge powerup and gave him back up in the form of most of Veemons other forms. Wanting to still fight after being hit by Antylamon is a bit more impressive as this Digimon can harden its skin to become as hard as this universe harder than steel metal; Chrome Digizoid. Harder eh?

Wiz: Don’t even think about finishing that thought Boomstick!

Boomstick: You’re no fun Wiz. I don’t think Flamedramon had much fun either when it fought Anylamons Champion and Mega forms as well on two separate occasions. Especially when swatted aside like nothing by the Mega level Cherubimon; one of the 3 freaking archangels of the digital world. Battling Wendigomon, the Champion form, only went a little better in comparison. Despite hitting it with enough strength to send it flying through a street sign, covering the giant champion in one of the fiery explosions this Flamedramon is so proud of, and dodging a couple of its attack; this courage fire was still basically completely defeated in about 2 hits by the big foot Digimon.

Wiz: What Boomstick just brought up highlights a Flamedramons greatest’s weakness. They are basically glass cannons that can hit hard but also can’t take many hits themselves. This rings especially true for earth element attacks as Flamedramons are weak to this element. Don’t think this makes the fire of Courage an easy to beat opponent though. Many armor levels are quite tough Digimon and are around the Champion level. Take Digmon for example who Flamedramon is comparable to.

Bomstick: Digmon? That’s a really unoriginal name.

Wiz: Says the person who named his shotgun shotgun. Anyway, Digmons drills can create huge cracks in ground that are large enough to momentarily catch the building sized ShogunGekomon off guard and trap him. Both Flamedramon and Digmon alongside other Armor digimon can crack Control Spires without any help so they should all be comparable to each other.

Boomstick: That sounds about right as despite Digimon’s insanely dumb gap between levels; Flamedramon is flame wielding badass that I would certainly want as my Digimon partner. The reason is however one thing we haven’t even mentioned yet.

Wiz: We haven’t? I guess we could discuss my scientific theory for digivolution occurs.

Boomstick: No thanks Wiz and also nowhere close what I am talking about. Anyone voiced by Steve Blum is someone I want as a friend. Just listen to this awesome line and tell me I am wrong.

Digimon Analyzer: I am Flamedramon! As Veemon, I used the Digi-Egg of Courage to Armor Digivolve. My Fire Rocket attack will charbroil the enemy like a well-done steak!

Infernape[]

Wiz: In the amazing world of Pokemon, there are many different creatures inhabiting it. Pokemon range from everything between tiny to very large, adorably cute to absolutely terrifying, and pathetic looking ones to………

Boomstick: Gigantic legendary kaiju’s with the power to destroy the world!  The world of Pokemon is actually kind of terrifying when you realize the destructive power most Pokemon possess. Does not mean I wouldn’t want one to give those dumb tax collectors wanting beer money a huge surprise. If I could get a Pokemon of my own, the flame monkey Pokemon Infernape would definitely be among my top 5 choices.

Wiz: One of my personal favorite Pokemon are Magnemite and its evolutions due to wanting to know how they function. Infernape is a good choice though for any upcoming Pokemon trainers being the final evolution stage of Chimchar. Being a fire and fighting type, Infernapes are well known for using a special kind of martial arts that involves using their arms and legs to deliver fiery punches and kicks to their opponents.

Boomstick: Not really surprised that the flaming monkey is good in a brawl as they are naturally speedy fighters that excel in physical combat with a lot of both physical and special moves to unleash. I have one question however. What’s up with that head flame of its? It looks cool but does not seem very comfortable.

Wiz: The flame can burn humans and Pokemon so it does have some practical applications.

Boomstick: Practical applications eh? Now I need to have an Infernape. That head flame could be a great tool roasting marshmallows and setting those that annoy me on fire.

Wiz: Speaking of fire, Infernapes knows how to use the most common type of flame type moves like Flamethrower and Ember along with Fire spin, which can trap other Pokemon in a fire vortex, and Flame Wheel, which covers Infernape in fire to run over his opponents. These fire attacks alongside Infernapes other special moves can be amplified to be even stronger with moves like Nasty Plot or Calm Mind. Other moves which can affect both Infernape and its opponents’ stats is the move Torment which does not allow the opponent to use the same move in a row and Façade that doubles Infernapes power if he is affected by a status ailment.

Boomstick: In a close quarters brawl, Infernape can also perform Mach Punch to make sure its punch always lands on its very unlucky opponents first, Fury Swipes to scratch people in the face multiple times, Feint to get through annoying defensive shields, and Acrobatics to strike anyone that gets in its way real hard. The flaming monkey even has the healing move Slack Off for regaining half his health back.

Wiz: All of these move’s pales in comparison to Close Combat and Flare Blitz; Infernapes most devastating attacks. Close combat is a powerful fighting type move in which Infernape releases a barrage of strong punches and kicks while Flare Blitz involves intense flames enveloping Infernape as it charges an opponent. These moves do have some drawbacks however.

Boomstick: Having its defenses lowered by using Close Combat and suffering 33% recoil damage for unleashing Flare Blitz is not that good of a trade off if I am to be honest. Being resistant to fire, grass, bug, dark, steel and ice attacks does somewhat make up for this unfortunate weakness however.

Wiz: That’s not a really good example Boomstick. Infernape might be resistant to those kinds of attacks but it is also vulnerable and weak to Water, flying, ground, and psychic attacks. That’s actually very important to know as the Infernape species does not have the best of defenses when it comes to stats.

Boomstick: Those are admittedly some very serious flaws but I still want that flaming monkey as my pet. Just look at the 2 most well know Infernapes in the Pokemon universe owned by Flint of the Sinnoh’s Elite Four and the never-aging 10-year-old Ash Ketchum. Those fire monkeys are the peak symbols of strength of how strong an Infernape can become.

Wiz: Ash and Flint Infernapes are indeed the species at their best so it’s not that improbable that other Infernapes could scale to these two. Therefore, lets analyze these two Infernapes to find out what is the limit of what an Infernape can accomplish.

Boomstick: Staring with Ash’s Infernape, it can chuck giant mechs into the air and shatter it with a Mach Punch, send powerful Pokemon like Jolteon and the 360.0 kg Aggron flying, dodge lightning, keep up with and defeat Paul’s Electivire who can move faster than the eye can see and strong enough to send an opponent through several boulders, is fast enough deflect several projectiles with Mach Punch, tanked a punch to the face from a Ditto having transformed into him who was somewhat equal in strength, survived being bitten with Thunder Fang by Volkner's Luxray, and takes a point blank thunder courtesy of Paul’s Electivire. This alone is already impressive enough but we are not even finished mentioned all of this Infernapes best feats yet.

Wiz: Paul’s Electivire and Volkner's Luxray are two of the most impressive Pokemon Ash’s Infernape has defeated and they both have defeated Ash’s Pikachu. This Pikachu is strong enough to defeat the legendary Pokemon Regice at his best and dodge attacks from Latios whose speed surpasses that of jet planes. Luxray and Electivire could both overpower and outspeed Pikachu so Infernape being able to best these two in combat is a clear sign of powerful an Infernape really is.

Boomstick: If it weren’t for the inconsistency of that Godchu, I would have liked to get me one of those as well. Getting back on track with more awesome facts about this flame monkey, Infernapes have really good willpowers as the one belonging to Ash once managed track the movements of a Ninjask moving faster than the eye could see while at same time he was having his energy drained by said Ninjask.

Wiz: Before moving on to Flints Infernape, we should mention that Ash’s Infernape knows dig. It’s not a move that can be naturally learned by this species of Pokemon so the chances of a regular Infernape having this move is not very big. Speaking of moves not learned naturally, Flints Infernape also knows moves like Thunder Punch and Earthquake which are in the same category as dig.

Boomstick: If you think Ash’s badass fire monkey was impressive, prepare to have your mind blown by Flint’s. This second Infernape basically steamrolled 3 of Ashs Pokemon which include Godchu and his Infernape. Not even one of Pikachus top tier moves like Volt Tackled did not do much at all as it collided with this Infernapes Mach Punch Flare and Flare Blitz and his mighty thunder bolt was tanked without receiving serious injury. Even Ash’s flaming monkey got bodied as all of his moves like Flamethrower, Flame Wheel, and barrage of Mach Punches all got dodged or parried with ease before being one shot with a blow to the chest by Flints monkey.

Wiz: Ash’s Infernape being defeated at the hands of Flint’s makes evident that this Infernape excels at everything the earlier was really good at. Defeating the steel type specialist and gym leader Jasmines Steelix and giving the Sinnoh Champion Cynthia star Pokemon Garchomp a good fight is good proof of this as according to the very organized Pokedex. The Dex states that Steelix body is harder than diamond while Garchomp moves at Mach speed. The Pokedex is a really interesting invention with so many analyses of different Pokemon. Did you know that Pokemon like……..?

Boomstick: Stop fanboying over the Pokedex Wiz and get back to doing your normal boring stuff. Last time you got into Pokedex mode, you made me feel like I had gone through 100 hangovers for 5 hours straight.

Wiz: I guess you are Correct for once Boomstick. An Iron Tail from Jasmines Steelix was blocked by Flints Infernape and he defeated Jasmines Pokemon by overpowering its Crunch with Flare Blitz. It should be mentioned that while Pokedex entries can be faulty sometimes, the entry of Steelix is probable as this specie of Pokemon could damage a Team Rocket titanium mech.

Boomstick: Don’t forget best girl Cynthia and her Garchomp. Keeping up with the mach dragon and its moves like Draco Meteor and Dragon Rush and taking a beating from multiple Brick Breaks and Stone Edge before fainting is a big thumbs up in my book.

Wiz: Ash and Flints’ Infernape show excellent skills needed for intense Pokemon battle like the ones mentioned. There is one thing that they lack though and that is the ability to think for themselves as they are used to follow their trainers’ commands like most trainer Pokemon do.

Boomstick: Seems like you are forgetting something Wiz. I am so going to boast about this for weeks after this episode that for once I know something you don’t.

Wiz: If it’s about the number dollars you spend on weapons or the amount of beer you have consumed in your life, then I would agree with you. There is no way you know more about the habitat and scientific facts of Pokemon better than me.

Boomstick: According to your dear Pokedex, the species is naturally skilled in fighting, so it should not be surprising that they would be capable in a fight without direct aid. This has even been proven true with the immortal 10-year-old's Infernape as it went around challenging other Pokemon owned by Ash of its own volition.

Wiz: That’s actually correct. When did you get interested in looking though the Pokedex Boomstick?

Boomstick: When you announced that one our next contestants was a Pokemon with flaming kung fu skills and therefore I know there is still one thing left to bring up about Infernape; Blaze.

Wiz: Blaze is an ability of the Infernape species that activate once they have taken a lot of damage or are on the brinks of defeat. Once activated, all fire type moves are given a massive 50% boost in power as the ground shatter beneath their feet and become covered in a massive burst of fire that sometimes generates enough heat to create a huge pillar of fire that reach high up into the sky.

Boomstick: These new improved fire attacks incinerate any competition as these flames can melt parts of walls and send Pokemon reeling back even if the attacks do not hit their targets. At its highest peak, these flames can create huge vortexes of fire as shown when Ash’s Infernape defeated Paul’s Electivire and finally gave his former trainer a taste of karmic defeat.

(Infernape unleashed a giant pillar of flames that cover a large part of a stadium and reaches high into the sky.)

Wiz: Even with all these feats under their belt, Infernapes are not exactly the strongest pokemon in the world. That honor goes to the many legendary Pokemon that roam around the different regions. Infernapes have gone up against a couple of these in the past and the results were not exactly flattering to the flame Pokemon.

Boomstick: Ash’s fire monkey is a very impressive flaming badass but it could not give the more badass legendary bird Moltres any challenge at all as its flamethrower did jack squat to the flame god referred bird. It also avoided all of the monkey’s attack and heavily damaged the Infernape with just one attack that forced Goh and Gary to intervene with their own Pokemon.

Wiz: For the record, A Moltres can survive submerging itself in lava and cause a small volcanic eruption as a result as well as fight evenly with the other legendary birds. Another legendary that an Infernape has challenged is the giver of bad dreams; Darkrai. This time also resulted in a bitter defeat for the flame Pokemon.

Boomstick: Is that really surprising? This was basically a random trainers Infernape that was definitely not on Ash’s and Flints level of badassery. Even with it being assisted by a group of other powerful Pokemon, this flaming monkey could even mutter a decent challenge towards the Pokemon version of Freddy Krueger. It’s not surprise however as this Darkrai in particular could hold its own against the FREAKING KEEPERS OF TIME AND SPACE AT THE SAME TIME!!!

Wiz: Dialga and Palkia are at the top of the Pokemon world as some of the strongest Pokemon in existence that control all of time and space respectively so losing to a Pokemon able to fight these 2 for a short while does not take much away from all the impressive feats we do know an Infernape is capable of.

Boomstick: I will admit that even if the flaming monkey can’t fight foes on a multidimensional level, it is still one of favorite Pokemon. Infernapes have more than earned their badass creed in my book.

Wiz: Regardless of if they live in the wild or go on a journey with a trainer that can bring out the best in them, Infernape is one firefighting Pokemon that is not to be underestimated. Now back to what I said about the Pokedex……….

Dawn's Pokédex: Infernape, the Flame Pokémon and the evolved form of Monferno. Infernape's fiery crown reflects its fiery nature, and its speed is unmatched.

Intermission[]

Intermission Flame vs Infern

Wiz: All right, the combatants are set, it's time to end this debate once and for all!

Boomstick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!

Death Battle![]

Location Unknown:

Darkness.

That was one of the few things that could be seen for miles upon miles in every direction. Where all this darkness ends, nobody knows. If one tried their hardest to see anything in the pitch blackness of the night, they would be able to make out the large desert that went in every direction endlessly just as the darkness.

There was one more thing however that could clearly be seen during this very dark night. It was a bright light that suddenly lighted up the surrounding area. This light was the result of powerful flames of fire colliding with each other in the depths of desert. The fire was so bright that the cause of these intense flames was hidden from view.

After lighting up the area for a few seconds with blazing flames, the fire started to evaporate as the causes of this intense class of fire was revealed to the world. What could be made out in the evaporating fire at first was two humanoid figures standing a couple of meters apart from each other.

The one on the left was a blue bipedal creature covered in flame like armor. It had a large spike sticking out of its forehead and sharp claws that were ready to unleash infernos.

Flamedramon, the Fire of Courage and armor digivolution of Veemon using the Digi-Egg of Courage, was giving its opponent a smile that dared the one standing in front of it to make the first move. He may not be able to go Ultimate or Mega in this fight due to having been separated from Davis during a sandstorm. An armor level should be more than enough though to handle the creature that attacked him out of nowhere. This opponent would be turned to ash in no time at all.

The one on the right was a reddish-brown prime adorned with gold markings. On top of its head was a large inextinguishable flame that would burn anyone foolish enough to touch it.

Infernape, the Flame Pokemon and final evolved form of Chimchar, meet its opponents gaze with a challenging glare of its own. Moltres had been intended to be its opponent but due to the portal that appeared out of nowhere and sucked the flame pokemon inside of it; this flaming fighter would have to do for now. It was not as if the final evolution pokemon was disappointed too much however as it could feel the great firepower emanating from the opponent.

It did not really matter in the long run however how the battle started as both of the mons were determined to be the one to end it. With this in mind, they charged at each other with fists ready to be set ablaze.

Flamedramon: How would you like to be cooked? Flame boiled or grilled?

FIGHT!

Their fists collided as the two combatants unleashed Double Dramon Claw and Fury Swipes respectively. The barrage of slash attacks countered each other blow to blow until Infernape decided enough was enough and blasted Flamedramon at close range with Flamethrower. The flames had no visible effect however as the armor digimon used Middle Tackle to plow right through the Flamethrower and charge right into Infernape. The tackle sent the flame pokemon sliding backwards coughing up a little blood in the process. Flamedramon had drawn first blood in battle of flaming mons.

Infernape had no time to retaliate several fire blasts headed his way courtesy of Flamedramons Flaming Fist. Each blast was expertly dodged as the flame pokemon charged forwards. A second barrage of Flaming Fists never came as Torment was activated. Not being able to use another Flaming Fist right away caused enough confusion with the armor digimon’s mind that Infernape managed to give him powerful punch to the face. It would have gone for a second punch if Flamedramon had not used Flame Shield around itself forcing the opponent to jump backwards to avoid it.

With each of them having gotten a good hit on the other, things were taken up a notch as they next collided with each other covered in fire to see who would give in first. Fire Rocket and Flame Wheel were pushing the other around in a battle for supremacy. The two combatants were grinning as this took place clearly having fun with this inferno of a battle.

Flamedramon: Seems like you can take as much heat as you can dish out. This battle is starting to really fire me up a notch.

The screech coming from the pokemon alerted the armor digimon that it felt the same way.

Seeing as they were getting nowhere with their clash of fire, Acceleration Boost and Nasty Plot were activated for an increase in power output. It did not cancel the clash but it did cause the flames surrounding them to get much more intense.

The clash finally ended when Flamedramon surprisingly canceled its attack and was hit full force by the empowered Flame Wheel. Due to having activated Cross Counter however right as it was hit by the attack, a powerful counterattack impacted with Infernapes stomach. Both combatants were sent flying back crashing into nearby dunes of sand.

They were far from done however as the mons started to bombard the other with projectiles. The armor digimon was ensnared in a Fire spin vortex while the flame pokemon was enveloped in a pillar of fire courtesy of Mega Napalm. Due to their fire resistance, the flames did not do much damage to either mon allowing them clash fists soon afterwards once again.

An Acrobatics powered punch from Infernape was blocked by Flamedramon using Flame Shot to cover its horn with fire. The flame pokemon followed up this with Mach Punch to make sure the next attack would not be blocked in time. Being hit with a powerful Mach Punch did not prevent the armor digimon from retaliating with a combination of Express Claw and Dramon Claw. Most of these attacks were dodged or blocked by Infernape as it tried to find an opening to counterattack.

Infernape found an opportunity to strike as the claw strikes slowed down. This was just what Flamedramon had waited for however as it sent a Flaming Fist blast right into the Pokemon’s face blinding it momentarily. Using this opportunity, the digimon grabbed the opponent and activated Fire Rocket covering them both in a blazing inferno before launching them forward with the speed of a rocket right through several sand dunes. As they were about to smash right into a nearby rock formation, the armor digimon let go of the pokemon letting it crash into the rock formation at high velocity. The formation shattered into pieces as Flamedramon landed gracefully on the ground.

Flamedramon: Don’t tell me your flame was snuffed out by that? I am nowhere close being blazingly warmed-up yet.

The flame pokemon certainly was nowhere close to being finished yet as proven when several of the large rock formation pieces was launched the digimon’s way. 4 pieces was scorched to dust by Flaming Fist while another one was slashed to pieces with Double Dramon Claw. Throwing the large rocks was just a distraction however as Flamedramon found out the hard way as the last remaining rock piece was slashed to pieces. Hiding behind it was a Flame Wheel ready to get its revenge.

Being turned into fiery roadkill courtesy of the Flame Wheel and forced to witness Infernape do a screeching victory dance while getting back up from the ground, Flamedramon sent out another volley of Mega Napalm fire blasts.

Flamedramon: You are not charbroiled yet? I am glad. Let me barbecue you into submission once and for all.

Mega Napalm fire blast rained down upon Infernape who had to dodge them and all the massive pillars of flame that were created as they hit the ground. With the pokemon distracted for a moment, Flamedramon charged forwards with Flame Shot only to miss when Infernape jumped into the air and proceeded to fall back down to earth with Flame Wheel. The attack collided right into the armor digimon who grabbed the flame covered pokemon with its claws.

Canceling out of the Flame Wheel to avoid being hit by a combination of Dramon Claw and Acceleration Boost, Infernape managed to get free of the armor digimon’s grip and avoid the attack. To prevent being hit by a counterattack, Flame Shield was activated around Flamedramon. This proved to have been a futile effort however as the flame pokemon managed get past the shield with ease and land an attack by using Feint.

Instead of continuing with a follow up attack however, the flame pokemon turned around and ran as fast as it could in the opposite direction to Flamedramons surprise.

Flamedramon: There is no use running away. Get back here and get grilled already.

The response to this provocation was a Flamethrower being sent backwards towards the pursuing digimon who responded in turn with a couple of Flaming Fists. All the fire attacks missed their targets as the two mons expertly avoided being hit as they continued their chase. Only Infernape could continue on with another barrage of Flamethrower as Torment was used to prevent any more Flaming Fists.

Flamedramon eventually got so frustrated that it was unable to catch up with the opponent and forced to continue avoiding being scorched by Flamethrowers that it activated Fire Rocket to catch up. The Fire Rocket allowed the armor digimon to catch up in no time not noticing that the pokemon had stopped firing backwards and was currently glowing with a greenish healing light thanks to Slack Off. This light vanished as Flamedramon was about to clash right into the fleeing Infernape only for the flame pokemon to turn around and face the pursuer with a satisfied grin and fists raised high. The digimon had fallen for the trap.

Fire Rocket slammed headfirst right into a Close Combat barrage of punches and kicks that pummeled Flamedramon so hard that the fire around it evaporated.

Pain surged through Flamedramon as it was being almost pummeled into submission. Neither the incoming punches or the pain prevented the armor digimon from retaliating by setting itself on fire with Fire Rocket once again and this time so much heat and fire was released that both combatants were consumed in a giant explosion of fire that reached high into the sky above.

As the dust settled and both mons was made visible among the smoke from the explosion, Flamedramon and Infernape were both on their knees sighing heavily in pain.

Flamedramons body was starting to slowly dissolve into data and its armor was cracked in multiple places.

Infernape was bleeding heavily with wounds and scratches covering its entire body.

Flamedramon: Both our flames are on the verge of being snuffed out it seems. Let’s finish this fiery battle with one last large blazing attack.

A nod from the flame pokemon told the armor digimon that they both had their minds set to the same thing. The next clash would determine the victor of this battle. Getting up on their feet wobbling slightly, both mons jumped backward away from each other creating a large distance between the opponents.

Flamedramon started to glow with an fiery aura as the Fight or Flight skill activated itself.

Infernape was enveloped in high intensity flames as the conditions of Blaze’s activation was finally reached.

Flamedramon: FIRE ROCKET!!!!!

Infernape let out a loud screech as it prepared to use Flare Blitz.

2 huge pillars of flame that reached into the heavens in the blink of an eye enveloped the combatants as they started to slowly move towards each other. The pillars of intense fire followed the two as they speed up. The nearer the combatants got to each other, the more intense the flames became. When Flamedramon and Infernape finally collided, the combined power output of their flames fused together created an explosion twice as large as both of the flaming pillars put together.

The shockwaves coming from this giant explosion could be felt for miles in every direction. The explosion itself canceled the darkness of the night and turned the desert around as bright as it looked when it was daytime. When the explosion finally subsided however, the darkness returned and smoke filled the area hiding the result of the volcanic clash.

A silhouetted figure could be seen wobbling its way through the smoke. Whether it was the pokemon or digimon could not be made out until the mysterious figure took a steep outside the smoke heading towards a recently reopened portal.

Before entering the portal and heading home for some well-earned rest, Infernape let out a loud victorious cry beating its chest in the process. In this battle of fire, flames, and infernos, the flame pokemon had come out on top over the fire of courage.

KO!

- The last remains of Flamedramons armor dissolve in front of a distraught Davis

- An extremely wounded Infernape is reunited with Ash as Gary and Goh look on with smiles on their faces.

Boomstick: That was a de-lightful battle. I lava a good fashion fiery fight that reach unexpected Fahrenheits. Looks like the fire monkey stayed ignited and sent Steve Blum fuming!

Wiz: Utter even a single more fire pun and I promise I will turn your entire booze collection into milk with my matter transformator. I will agree though this was a really heated fight. Flamedramon and Infernape were equal or very similar to each other in almost every category that mattered making this a very difficult match to decide the victor off. Both of them possess fire resistance, can create giant pillars of flame, have abilities that buff damage output automatically once they are on the brink of defeat, and shown the strength to hurt creatures with the near hardness of diamonds.

Boomstick: That’s a lot of similarities so it was the annoying small details that decided the outcome of this battle. An example of this is intelligence. One would think the dragon man would have overwhelmingly more smarts than the fire monkey because of actually being able to talk. The good old Pokedex makes that perceived gap much smaller with the revelation that this specie of flaming monkeys are good martial artists. Another little detail that might actually have given Flamedramon the w is this blazing inferno of a difference;

Flame comparison

Boomstick: Everyone watching this is probably wondering why the courage Digimon lost when it arguanbly can create far more impressive flame pillars on a regular basis than the monkey Pokemon. There is a simple reason for this. Flamedramon is very much the description of a glass cannon. That and Blaze being a more blazingly cool last minute powerup with its 50% increase in firepower in comparison to Fight or Flights 20%.

Wiz: The durability difference is indeed what edged this death battle in Infernapes favor. The flame Pokemon’s defenses aren’t the best either but Infernapes have been known to power though harsh punishments to continue fighting as proven with both Ash and Flints. When comparing the most impressive examples of this Pokemon specie with the best example of a Flamedramon being owned by Davis who have been knocked out after just 1 or 2 attacks on occasion, there is shown a clear and defining difference in durability.

Boomstick: Don’t forget the fact that the fire monkey could heal itself with Slack Off by becoming extremely lazy and basically run circles around the Steve Blum Digimon with it being comparable to Godchus jet plane speed. Even if the dragon man tagged the monkey with an attack, Infernape could undo any damage dealt immediately or make sure the attack did not hit any vital areas.

Wiz: This was an extremely close fight but even with superior fire power, Flamedramon did not have what it took to outfight Infernape with its durability and speed advantages.

Boomstick: Looks like Infernape was not aping around as it fire rocketed Flamedramon into a well-done steak.

Wiz: The winner is Infernape.
