Featherine VS Mandrakk is a What-If? Death Battle written by Duragoji123, also serving as his most wanted matchup. It features Featherine Augustus Aurora from the 07th Expansion Series fighting against Mandrakk from the DC Comics Universe in a battle of nigh-omnipotent, plot-threatening takes on popular Halloween creatures of the night.

Description[]

Umineko: When They Cry VS DC Comics! Bleed or read? DC's cosmic Monitor vampire god faces off against the Witch of Theatergoing, Drama, and Spectating!

Interlude[]

Wiz: Featherine Augustus Aurora, Umineko: When They Cry's Witch of Theatergoing, Drama, and Spectating.

Featherine Combatant Card Version 3

Boomstick: Mandrakk, the Science Monitor-turned-Dark Monitor Dax Novu from DC Comics.

Mandrakk Combatant Card Version 2

Wiz: We all search for answers, whether that be for some greater purpose or just to appease our own minds.

Boomstick: This pursuit is something many can relate to. But you've allllllllll heard about the saying "too much in excess is bad for you", right? I mean, Wiz tells me that all the time in relation to my beer but, I'm not gonna stop any time soon so suck it Wiz!

Wiz: ...sigh ...Well, don't blame me if you turn out like these two. Lost in the depths of their own despair and hubris, they will stop at nothing if it means appeasing themselves. Whether that means tearing apart those who love one another, manipulating and disposing of all who stand in their way, or dragging out the entrails of story itself, nothing is off-limits for these two monsters.

Boomstick: And today, it's our job to see who would win in a fight between these two titans! Witch or vampire? Meta-Entity or Monitor? One who creates stories or one who destroys them? He's Wiz, and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a DEATH BATTLE!

Trivia[]

  • The connections between Featherine and Mandrakk are:
    • Two practically omnipotent versions of popular Halloween-themed tropes (Mandrakk is a vampire and Featherine is a witch) from high-end metafictional series, with insanely complex cosmologies. Said cosmologies have stand-ins for the "authors/editors" of their series (The Monitors are representations of DC's writers and editors, plus the existence of the Writer as an entity; Featherine herself is heavily implied to be an authorial stand-in for Ryukishi07, possibly even horror/mystery writers in general).
    • Both combatants are debatably the strongest member of said race (Mandrakk was at one point the strongest Monitor and their former leader, however there have been numerous retcons which may imply other members of his race are stronger, i.e. Perpetua having used Mandrakk's invasion of the multiverse as a puppet to further her own Crisis, Mar Novu/The Monitor and Mobius/The Anti-Monitor being implied to be above Mandrakk in later installments, etcetera; Featherine is currently the strongest Witch to have ever lived to our knowledge, with only Maria ever possibly exceeding her in the future).
    • They are both depicted as heartless and cruel tyrants, who want to defile the story itself (Mandrakk wishes to consume the "blood" of every universe, narrative, and plot, leaving their out their "entrails and guts" to dry; Featherine wishes to find out the Truth of the tale of not only Umineko, but possibly every story, with Bernkastel stating that she'll even "carve out the entrails" in order to do so).
    • They are the leaders/former leaders of higher-order beings which view the multiverse and all of its inhabitants as fictional (Mandrakk used to be Dax Novu, who was the Science Monitor and lead the Monitors across their expedition before being turned into 'The Dark Monitor'; Featherine is the Head of the Witch Senate and rules over all Witches from a higher level of existence than even they).
    • The plot to their stories also have to do with finding out some "truth" (Mandrakk was turned from Dax into "Mandrakk" by discovering the truth behind what Monitors were doing to the Multiverse [poisoning it and feeding off of it, like a vampire], as a result embracing that title fully after getting laughed at and having his warnings tossed away by other Monitors; Featherine's main goal in Umineko is finding out the Truth of Beatrice's gameboard, at seemingly any cost necessary).
    • They both have an underling of the same race as them which usually does their dirty work in lower worlds (Rox Ogama was one of the only Monitors to acknowledge Dax Novu's cries and pleas about the danger Monitors posed to the Multiverse, and became his top servant [after getting turned into a vampire] who went throughout universes and prepared them for Mandrakk's arrival, who later also looked for a way to revive his master post-Final Crisis; Bernkastel serves Featherine as her "miko", and is the cat which Featherine sent around different stories looking for a way to revive her master).
    • They are both so powerful that they can manipulate the plot itself (Mandrakk is capable of feeding off of entire universes and their plots in order to become an ungodly amount stronger; Featherine's whole schtick is that she manipulates the plot to her will).
    • Both of their goals involve a "book" which holds a Truth which would prove detrimental to deciding the outcome of their stories (The Book of Infinite Pages which Ultraman read containing the true end of the universe, foretelling the coming of Mandrakk; Eva's Diary, which contained the Truth about what happened on Rokkenjima in 1986).
    • However, their plans are foiled when they come into contact with a caped "hero" and someone who is biologically similar to them (Mandrakk fights and is eventually defeated and sealed away in the Dark Multiverse by the Thought Robot/Cosmic Armor Superman, who is a robotic body manifestation of the Story of Superman, being powered by both Superman and Ultraman who is an alternate universe version of Supes, after Ultraman was convinced to join the heroes against Mandrakk's entrance into the Multiverse; Featherine is confronted by Battler and Ange, who is Battler's sister, after she had turned against the side of the Witches).
    • They also have/are implied to have weakened lower avatars, which look similar to them (Mandrakk has his manifestation in the Dark Multiverse, which he was forced to take as a weakened state after falling through the Overvoid and Creation itself; Featherine is implied to be both Hanyuu and Eua).
      • They have several contrasts, such as:
        • While both are seen as "cruel" and "heartless monsters", only one of them is truly so. Mandrakk has blatantly lost every last shred of what made Dax Novu, well, Dax Novu, and is the "evil" half of that dichotomy, with CAS being the "good" half; Superman is supposed to be the "anti-Mandrakk" and is the one story he cannot consume or defeat. He remains dark and vile until his defeat at the very end of both Final Crisis and The Unexpected, where not once does he show a morsel of humanity (he recognizes that he kills his wife and looks shocked for a moment, but then goes back to beating the fuck out of Superman right after and seems relatively unaffected by it lol). Featherine on the other hand shows that, while she is cruel and even welcomes the title of "monster", there is still something more behind her malice, as shown when she helps Chick Beato recover her memories (which wouldn't have really affected the game and probably would have still lead to Eva's Diary being found and opened regardless). She also blatantly lets Battler and co. leave back to the Golden Land once they emerge victorious, she revives Lambdadelta, and even pays tribute to Battler and Beato's relationship at the end-credits scene by tossing the golden flower into the ocean.
        • There's also the contrast of "god that became something lesser than a god upon finding out the truth" and "mortal who became something more than a god upon finding out the truth". Dax Novu spiraled into insanity upon learning the truth about the relation between Monitors and the Multiverse, turning into a vampire and leaving behind the Thought Robot as his last bit of good will towards the Multiverse. Featherine's former self, upon learning that she was just a pawn in a story, mysteriously died (dark implications eegggghhh) but reawoke upon writing herself back into existence to find herself as a Witch, which are beings beyond the 'gods' of 07th Expansion.
        • Also obvious contrast of "LOL vampire" and "LOL witch"

Featherine vs Mandrakk is the 20th Episode and Season 1 Finale of TheDanMan2's DEATH BATTLE series, featuring Featherine Augustus Aurora from the Umineko series and Mandrakk The Dark Monitor from the DC series in a battle between cosmically overpowered characters with meta-powers.

Trivia[]

  • This fight was originally going to be Featherine vs Azathoth from the Cthulhu Mythos series, however, I ended up going with Featherine vs Mandrakk instead, due to not knowing how to make Azathoth work in a DB in general.
