Its a battle of two icy leaders! Elsa from Frozen against the ruler of the Snowmads, Lord Fredrik, from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. But who will win?
Prelude[]
Wiz: Scandinavian themes are quite prevalent in pop culture.
Boomstick: Yeah, like Frozen and Frozen II.
Wiz: Both of those films were box office hits for Disney and spawned iconic characters like Elsa.
Boomstick: Yeah! Though another example of Scandinavians present in pop culture are the Vikings, which inspired Lord Fredrik his Snowmads.
Wiz: And so its me, Wiz.
Boomstick: And me, Boomstick.
Wiz: And we will be analyzing the powers of Elsa and Lord Fredrik, to we who would win in a Deathbattle!

Elsa[]
Boomstick: Well, here’s the Snow Queen, Elsa.
Wiz: Elsa is a sort of spirit who has powers of ice. She caused an eternal winter in Arendale when she was scared before leaving for the mountains to seclude herself.
Boomstick: Well, seems like an interesting way to cool off.
Wiz: When distressed, she was able to produce blizzards. One such blizzard was able to consume Arendale itself. Along with that, she is able to build structures with ice, most notably a castle. She can also make animated ice objects, ranging from Olaf, the snowman, to Marshmallow, a snow giant. She can also form ice into sharp objects or buffers. She does not actually freeze people inside ice, but she does use ice to trap enemies. This was shown when she’s fought the thug she at her castle. Another notable feature of her ice powers is that she can freeze things, such as freezing the metal shackle so used to keep her imprisoned.
Boomstick: Yeah, and she can freeze people.
Wiz: Yes. Elsa accidentally froze her sitster, Anna’s heart. The symptoms of this include that the freezee’s hair slowly turns white. Eventually, it becomes hard for them to move, until they turn completely to ice.
Boomstick: Turning people into ice statues. That wouldn’t go well at a party.
Wiz: Indeed. After realizing the secret to controlling her powers, she is able to undo the eternal winter she caused.
Boomstick: Man, I can’t think of any pinball for that.
Wiz: Later, she is able to ride a horse-like spirit that she was able to tame.
Boomstick: Giddyup! Raw-ice!
Wiz: Not long after, Elsa was able to produce a buffer of ice that saved Arendale from being swept up by a flood of water.
Boomstick: Welp, that would have been a washout, if not for the ice.
Wiz: While she does have these ice powers, she does have weaknesses similar to people. One example is that she was knocked unconscious when she tripped and fell on the floor of her ice castle. What’s more is that she looses control as she uses more power, and vice versa. Nevertheless, she certainly is a power to be reckoned with. But let’s see about her opponent in this battle.
Lord Fredrik[]
Boomstick: Here we have the Snowmad King, Lord Fredrik.
Wiz: Lord Fredrik is a large, Walrus like being with glowing blue eyes and a horned helmet. Unlike Elsa, Lord Fredrik uses his ice magic with a horn, releasing ice magic by blowing through it.
Boomstick: So, he’s a musician.
Wiz: Lord Fredrik’s magic allows him to freeze objects and surfaces. He can also increase in size to perform certain attacks. He can deploy ice balls from his horn, including some other his Snowmad minions, either a penguin or a rabbit.
Boomstick: He definitely knows to Ben a leader ignoring he uses his guys in battle.
Wiz: Despite his large size, Lord Fredrik is fairly maneuverable. When his opponent throws a Snowmad at him, he can dodge around, and step over the projectile. However, when he stops, he can be hit.
Boomstick: He can also create animated ice figures in the form of ice dragons. Man, that’s badass!
Wiz: Some of his ice dragons can be used to attack, but can be even more powerful. He was able to cause eternal winter on DK Island with an ice dragon he released, along with blowing the Kongs six islands away from the island.
Boomstick: Well, that’s intense.
Wiz: Lord Fredrik does not rely entirely on his ice abilities in battle, however. He also utilized his great size and strength, which provides him a lot of physical attacks and power as well. He can charge at high speed to attack his enemies. He will also utilize ice to slicker the ground, which makes him especially fast when charging on ice. What’s more, is that he has fairly good control when charging, because he does not go over the edge when he does so.
Boomstick: Well, when you can charge, who needs ice skates?
Wiz: When charging, he uses his horned helmet to gore his opponent. He can also ground pound platforms, and when jumping off, cause them to sink in lava. Along with that, he can also ground pound platforms and cause other platforms to be propelled into the air before collapsing, sinking, and resurfacing.
Boomstick: Yep, a classic boss fight feature.
Wiz: While he has been beaten by DK, and launched into the ocean, along with having lost his horn, it is saying something that he held his own against the great ape.
Boomstick: Well, we are ready for our Deathbattle, so let’s begin!
Deathbattle[]
The summer sun shone brightly in the midday. Elsa was with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven in Arendelle, enjoying themselves.
From beyond the horizon, a penguin in a helmet spotted the town of Arendale. He squawked to a large, shadowy figure. The figure grabbed a horn. With a powerful blow, he sent out an ice dragon, which flew swiftly across the sea.
Olaf grabbed a dandelion, and blew its seeds off the bud. A moment later, they blew back towards Olaf and the group. A snowflake glided behind them.
The air gained a chill, and on the horizon appeared the ice dragon. Anna and Kristoff looked at Elsa with concern. “I’m not doing this,” Elsa said, indicating equal concern.
The ice dragon was upon Arendale, and a powerful gust of wind struck the town. Elsa was able to freeze a grasp on the ground, but Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, were blown into oblivion, screaming as they flew back. “Nooooooo!” Elsa screamed as her friends and family were gone.
A blizzard took hold, and Elsa’s vision was obscured.
Meanwhile, the Snowmad ship began to fly. It reached Elsa’s castle, smashing it as it took the formerly occupied space.
As the blizzard subsided, Elsa saw the ship destroying her castle and claiming the mountaintop. Arendelle was completely frozen, but Elsa saw that the ship was probably where she could find the entity responsible for this snowstorm. She got on her horse, and road up to the summit of the mountain.
Entering the boat, she sees the Snowmads-penguins, walruses, and owls-where gathered around. The walruses beat drums, and from his throne walked Lord Fredrik.
Elsa leapt down to face Lord Fredrik, spraying ice in spike like appearance. However, Lord Fredrik just laughed at the display, and leapt towards Elsa, Lansing with a powerful impact. However, the ice cracked below him, and the two fell through, onto a section of igneous rock, with lava all around. “Well, I built my castle on a volcano. Only in these things does this happen,” Elsa said.
Fight![]
(Cue Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze- Volcano Dome)
Elsa formed Marshmallow. The giant rose up. In response, Lord Fredrik sent out a barrage of Ice Dragons. Marshmallow swiped at one of the Ice Dragons, but they soon were all upon him. They severed each limb as they flew by, and Marshmallow collapsed into the lava. The Ice Dragons flew across the platform, and Elsa ducked to avoid them.
Lord Fredrik leapt over to a distant platform with his throne. He grew in size, and so did his horn. This time, he blew out a collection of ice balls that reined down. Elsa used ice blasts to disperse some of the balls that fell. However, some that landed released Snowmads. Two penguins charged at Elsa, and a rabbit pounced towards her. Elsa shot out ice, trapping one penguin, and then the other. Then, she blasted the rabbit with ice in a suspension of the material.
Lord Fredrik shrunk down again, and leapt back to the platform. The Snowmads were knocked off the platform. Elsa was thrown off her feet, and fell back onto the platform.
Lord Fredrik jumped towards Elsa. Elsa sent out a jet of ice magic to evade. She only barely avoided Lord Fredrik as he landed onto the slab of lava rock.
Elsa sends up ice to trap Lord Fredrick’s arms, and attempts to push him back. However, he is only pushed about 20 feet before he breaks free from the ice.
Lord Fredrik roars and shakes his fist as he jumps in place. He leaps to the farthest platform, spinning as he does so. He landed on the platform, causing each one to burst into the air on spurts of lava.
As the platforms collapsed, Elsa uses ice to cool the lava around, and got to safety as the rock platforms sank.
Lord Fredrik leapt to his throne again. Once more, he grew, and so did his horn. Elsa turned, and blasted ice towards Lord Fredrik. Lord Fredrik leapt to the side, and blew his horn. This time, he sent out a barrage of ice dragons.
Ice dragons crashed on each side of the platform, and Lord Fredrik let out booming laughs as each one did. Elsa formed ice skates and leapt onto the ice coated areas. She dodged around each dragon as they fell.
Lord Fredrik leapt back to the lava rock platforms. Elsa looks up in agitation at Lord Fredrik, with a blizzard building around her.
“You’ve killed my friends, my sister,” Elsa says. “You’ve brought misery to my homeland. You cannot go on like this.”
Lord Fredrik glares as he sees the blizzard build around Elsa. He brings his horn in front of him. As Elsa’s blizzard builds, Lord Fredrik inhales inwards, and blows out a massive ice dragon. It soars through the air, and collided with Elsa’s blizzard. The lava cooled around the area. Elsa’s blizzard blew, but she soon found that she was shifting back.
The area was swallowed in a blizzard. The Snowmad audience all ducked, and many were blown away.
Elsa could not hold for any longer, and the force of the ice dragon persisted, and she was flung to the walls. The blizzard dissipated, and the entire area was coated in ice.
Lord Fredrik saw Elsa on the other side of the area, and with a growl, he charged.
Elsa’s eyes began to open, her vision blurry. It was too late. Lord Fredrik was careening towards her with the rage of a bull.
She could not react, for head trauma and impact had left her barley on her knees. The horns of Lord Fredrik’s helmet collided with Elsa’s body as Lord Fredrik gored her. Elsa fell limply to the side with a bleeding gash in her chest from the horn wound.

Lord Fredrik laughs, and turns his back as Elsa lies on the ground behind him.

Boomstick: When it comes to the ending of this Deathbattle, Frozen fans probably won’t be able to let it go.
Wiz: Despite what would first be thought (since Elsa seems to have variety in terms of ice powers), Lord Fredrik’s ice magic is actually the more powerful of the two. He froze a larger area in less time; while Elsa’s eternal winter settled in Arendale over the course of hours, Lord Fredrik’s ice dragon cast eternal winter on DK Island in a matter of seconds.
Boomstick: And it blew the Kongs off their island and cast them several islands away. Elsa’s blizzard could not produce wind speeds of that power.
Wiz: Along with being a lot larger, it was obvious that Lord Fredrik had the strength, and durability advantage. Elsa has not really tried to life very heavy objects, and she was knocked out for a long period of time after falling onto the floor of her ice palace. On the other hand, Lord Fredrik has withstood blows from Donkey Kong, who has punched down the moon.
Boomstick: Yep! DK even launched Lord Fredrik, and Lord Fredrik was still conscious.
Wiz: Lord Fredrik is also more experienced. While Elsa was forced to restrict her powers much of her life and only recently got to learn about how to use them, Lord Fredrik has been conquering various islands for the Snowmads, and used his ice abilities where he needed them. Along with that, he’s faster, especially when charging.
Boomstick: Welp, looks like the cold has bothered Elsa now.
Wiz: Yep! The winner is Lord Fredrik!

- The reason for the battle is that they are both leaders that wield ice magic, yet they are also quite different.
- Since there are often matchups with Elsa and characters like Jack Frost and Frozone, this idea also seemed like an out of the ordinary battle idea.
