Description[]
Castlevania vs. DC. Evil never stays dead and buried in a dual between two hate-filled monsters.
Introduction[]
Wiz: Although good many always triumph in the battle over evil, evil has its own means of winning the war; by coming back from every defeat.
Boomstick: Every. Single. Time.
Wiz: Like Dracula, the Dark Lord of Castlevania.
Boomstick: And Doomsday, the Monster that Killed Superman. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.
Dracula[]
Wiz: The dark domain known as Castlevania is home to many different horrors. Flying gorgon heads, legions of undead warriors, creatures altered by the forces of evil, and many, many more.
Boomstick: But literally sitting above them all is the most powerful monster of the bunch, the very lord of rebranded Transylvania itself, the Dark Lord Dracula.
- Background
- Age: Over 900 years
- Height: 7'3"
- Ruler of Castlevania
- Father of Alucard
- Connected to Chaos
Wiz: But before he was Dracula, he was Mathias Cronqvist.
Boomstick: With a last name like Cronqvist, you can bet your butt that this guy would become a vampire at some point in his life. But the reason for his eventual transformation was a tragic one.
Wiz: Long ago, Mathias belonged to a company of knights who fought in the name of God, serving as their strategist and working alongside his longtime comrade Leon Belmont.
Popup: Mathias' family was said to have looked into alchemy practices.
Boomstick: The two of them were practically unstoppable together but like any bromance, it was doomed to die, all because of a woman.
Wiz: Well kind of. You see, Mathias was married to this woman named Elizabeth, who died of an illness whilst he was away fighting for God, who Mathias blamed for letting his beloved die in spite of all he had done in his name. And to that end, he swore he could become the opposite of everything God stood for.
Boomstick: The plan was simple; get his buddy Leon to kill a vampire for him so that he could use a special red stone and Death itself to absorb his power. Badabing, babadoom, old Math was a vampire.
Wiz: Oh, he was much more than that. Turns out his transformation into a creature of the night ended up establishing a direct connect to the entity Chaos.
Boomstick: Which really was the opposite of everything God everything stood for. And to continue doing so, it made Dracula it's champion, turning Mathias from a super-vampire like Walter into a super-duper vampire.
Wiz: And with his transformation came the new identity of the Dark Lord Dracula.
Boomstick: And the ownership of a big old castle, a staple for any vampire lord, along with his vast array of abilities, like his dark magic, which he used to terrorize the world for many years.
Wiz: Until he decided to try and put a coffin lid on it, it seems.
Boomstick: Yeah, old Drac got remarried and had a kid with her, Alucard. If only those stupid church goons hadn't accused her of witchcraft and burned her at the sake then Dracula may have been content to leave everyone alone. But nope, the damage was done and Dracula went back to cursing God and all that with all those vampiric powers we mentioned.
Wiz: Powers that include vast control over dark magic. With it, Dracula is able to able to control all the elements, manipulate darkness, alter time and even warp the very fabric of space.
- Powers and Abilities
- Immortality
- Dark magic
- Shapeshifting
- Dark Inferno
- Soul Steal
- Curse of Darkness
- Meteor Shower
- Demonic Meggido
- Power of Dominance
- Power of Chaos
Boomstick: He has loads more abilities thanks to his Power of Dominance.
Wiz: The Power of Dominance gives Dracula complete control over all demons in existence, which by extension gives him access to all of their abilities, but that's not to say he doesn't have his own signature techniques.
Boomstick: Like the Dark Inferno and Dark Blaze, which are all about frying foes with hellfire, and Meteor Rain allows him to summon meteors to, well, rain down. Goes well with a rain of blood.
Wiz: Speaking of blood, not only can Dracula consume it to replenish his strength, but he can do the very same with souls. And if not, he can simply erase them from existence.
Boomstick: And then he can give any holy warrior attempting to battle him a taste of their own medicine by blasting them with a nuke of holy magic, the Demonic Meggido. Weird that it's called Demonic when it's a holy attack huh?
Wiz: Actually it makes more sense than you think. You see, Meggido is another word word Doomsday or Armageddon, so in other words the technique translates to Demonic Doomsday. As in, it is the end for demons. Kind of weird considering he commands them, but hey, whatever floats his boat. Like the forms of mist, bats or animals he can take on.
Boomstick: Last but not least is the Power of Chaos that Dracula has thanks to his direct connection to Chaos. With it, Dracula is able to transform into several different states, like a giant demon, a really giant demon, a giant mass of heads, a giant painting, a giant bird and many others.
Popup: The form seen in Symphony of the Night is said by Dracula to be his true form, though it's unknown if this is true or simply a boast.
Wiz: And these transformations being fuelled by Chaos itself makes them incredibly powerful. To give you an idea of just what that means, Chaos itself is solely responsible for upholding the entirety of the Chaotic Realm, which is an entire alternate universe in of itself.
Boomstick: Well, that certainly explains why Death licks Dracula's boots. Who knew a series about vampire hunting would reach levels of Dragon Ball power?
- Feats
- Regenerated from complete disintegration
- Death himself is his lieutenant
- Controls his entire castle, which is considered another dimension
- Created a black hole that sucked in stars
- Battled the Belmonts, Hector, Maria Renard Alucard
Wiz: As a matter of fact, Dracula was once able to use his power to create a black hole in an alternate dimension. He's survived a meteor impacting directly on top of him and even the collapse of his entire castle. Which, by the way, is no ordinary structure. It is in fact a manifestation of Dracula's malice given physical form and is itself essentially another dimension.
Boomstick: And other Dark Lords can't hold a candle to this guy. Just ask Carmilla, Galamoth or Menace, whose Death collapsed the universe sized Abyss. This all makes me wonder, can he be stopped at all?
Wiz: Of course. Like any being of ultimate darkness, Dracula is susceptible to Holy Weaponry.
Boomstick: Are you sure? Cause he can use a literal holy nuke and not get hurt.
Wiz: Well, Dracula's immortality makes him harder to kill than most vampires, as he can not only regenerate from complete disintegration but resurrect himself after each defeat thanks to his connect to Chaos. In fact, it's more accurate to say that Dracula's overwhelming arrogance is the source of his constant defeats. Still, even after the strongest Belmont of all, Julius Belmont, was finally able to kill Dracula, it wasn't enough to complete remove his influence, as he simply reincarnated.
Boomstick: Into Gabriel Belmont.
Wiz: Actually Soma Cruz. Don't worry though, he turned out a good guy. Still, even when he lacks presence in the living world, Dracula's influence never truly leaves. He has long since gone down in history as one of the most powerful vampires you can imagine.
Doomsday[]
Wiz: On a distant planet that would eventually become the world of Krypton, an experiment was conducted by one Bertron.
Boomstick: The plan was simple; he would send an infant child out into the inhospitable planet to die over and over again, as babies will do on a hostile alien world, because baby murdering is somehow the key to creating the ultimate life-form.
Wiz: Well, there are evolutionary theories that state that a species will adapt after enough experiences with a hostile environment or adversity in order to survive. But Bertron's experiment was just needlessly cruel. Every time the infant was killed, its remains where collected, reassembled and sent back out to die another death. And surprisingly, the whole idea worked. After thousands of years over the course of several years, the infant was no longer an infant.
Boomstick: Instead, it was a nearly nine-foot monster covered in spikes and grey skin. Bertron wanted to name it the Ultimate, but a much more appropriate nickname arose; Doomsday.
- Background
- Age: Thousands on years
- Height: 8'10
- Created by Bertron
- Enemy of Superman
- Wears green a lot
Wiz: Appropriate indeed. After killing his creator, Doomsday hitched a ride of a shuttle and went on to ravage countless worlds.
Popup: In other continuities, Doomsday is either an assassin sent by Darkseid or a mutated Kryptonian. The original Doomsday is known as the Hunter-Prey Doomsday.
Boomstick: No small wonder either. He was essentially a very angry child in a powerful monster's body, throwing a tantrum over the dozens of time he was killed. Which, by the way, he all remembered.
Wiz: After ensuring the destruction of many worlds, Doomsday was eventually captured and sealed away but would soon awake on Planet Earth. He liked it there so much, he decided to make it his main stomping ground, drawing the attention of the Justice League in the process.
Boomstick: Who all proceeded to get their butts whooped like there was no tomorrow. Including Booster Gold, even though he came from tomorrow, and even had the honor of naming Doomsday.
- Powers and Abilities
- Immense strength
- Immense speed
- Regeneration
- Adapts to deaths
- Adapts to foes
- Poisonous bone spikes
- Doom to All
- Mass Destruction
- Doomsday Spores
- Adult Form
Wiz: Doomsday possesses an immense degree of superhuman strength that lets him go toe-to-toe with many powerful heroes at a time and is fast enough to deal with those with speed casually surpassing that of light.
Boomstick: And all those spikes he has aren't just for show; they make a nasty means of skewering anyone who comes to close and that's just when they're there. Other times he can sprout them all over himself, extend them to pierce foes from afar and even use them as makeshift ropes! Plus, they make a good beard.
Wiz: Doomsday also has a healing factor that lets him regenerate from having entire parts of his body blown away and can even grow hard scales over his body in a technique known as Doom to All.
Boomstick: And what's worse than one Doomsday? More than one, obviously.
Wiz: That's because Doomsday can emit spores that infect others, twisting them into copies of himself, complete with undying hatred for anything that moves. But Doomsday's greatest ability is his adaption.
Boomstick: Thanks to the experiments by Bertron, Doomsday is able to rapidly adapt to his foes in battle.
Wiz: Such as being able to develop fire breath to exploit Martian Manhunter's weakness.
Boomstick: Well of course that's his weakness. It's everyone's weakness. It's fire! More importantly, Doomsday's adaptation means that whenever he's killed, he'll come back forever immune to what killed him last.
Popup: Doomsday's adaptation is unlikely as potent as his resurrective adaptions.
Wiz: So you couldn't defeat him with say, electricity after the first time it was used on him, nor simply beat him to death. And he was already incredibly resilient before gaining that resistance. In fact, it served him well in his climatic battle against Superman, where, after a grueling punch fest, ensured both their deaths.
Boomstick: Well, temporary deaths any, cause Doomsday eventually resurrected and it turns out Superman was just hibernating. But hey, being strong enough to send a Kryptonian into a coma is no small feat.
Wiz: There's a whole lot more to Doomsday than even that. As it turns out, Doomsday isn't even fully grown yet. Upon reaching maturity, Doomsday becomes so powerful, he emits a red hot aura that incinerates anything he passes by.
Boomstick: Just like those poor wildebeest. But that's the least of anyone's worries because he's a god damn force of nature when he's just a pupa.
- Feats
- Broke out of the Phantom Zone
- Has tagged the Flash and Superman in battle
- Survived an explosion that destroyed a portion of a planet
- Tanked Darkseid's Omega Beams
- "Killed" Superman
- Defeated the Justice League, Wonder Woman, Darkseid, Cyborg Superman
Wiz: He's broken Wonder Woman's arms, defeated the Justice League and Green Lantern Corps and battled Gogs, beings with godly strength for over 100 years.
Popup: Doomsday once broke Wonder Woman's sword by pointing it's end, a blade so sharp it's able to slice atoms.
Boomstick: His invulnerability makes him one the hardest characters to kill in all of comic books. Even Darkseid's Omega Beams, lasers capable of instantly disintegrating people, are useless against him. Guess Darkseid should have just sent Doomsday to the Omega Sanction and be done with him.
Wiz: I'm pretty even that wouldn't have worked, considering that Doomsday once punched his way out of the Phantom Zone. You know, the alternate dimension that houses Kryptonian terrorists?
Boomstick: I do know! No wonder only sending him to the end of time is the only way to beat him.
Wiz: Well kinda. I'm sure there are still some ways left to kill Doomsday and as his mind is a one-track process on just how to kill things, it would be easy to outwit him or lead him into a trap.
Boomstick: But Doomsday is a monster that will always make even the hardiest superheroes shake in their boots. Because at the end of the day, he, is their Doom.
Interlude[]
Wiz: Alright the combatants are set and we've run the data through all possibilities.
Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!
The Battle[]
Setting: Castlevania at night
A roar echoes through the night as Doomsday hurtled down from the sky, smashing through the castle's roof and into the thrown room. As the dust cleared, he looked around himself in the midst of a blood rage, unaware at first of the figure lounging on the throne behind him.
Dracula: Well, well, well, what do we have here? Another monster of the world trespassing on my little domain. Is it for business, or pleasure?
Doomsday turned to face Dracula, both their eyes glowing red as they squared each other up, before the former roared.
Doomsday: DOOM!
FIGHT!
Dracula rose to his feet the same instance Doomsday came for him, turning to mist just before the monster could barrel into him. Doomsday smashed through the throne and the wall behind it as Dracula reformed, peering into the hole. A rumbling told him that Doomsday was coming back out and he ducked beneath Doomsday's swipe, retreating back from the hail of punches Doomsday came at him with. As Doomsday swung out with the back of his fist, Dracula ducked beneath it before punching out with his clawed figures to try and pierce Doomsday's skin. However, his attack was stopped short by Doomsday's tough skin. Dracula frowned, before Doomsday grabbed a hold of his head, crushing it into pulp with a single squeeze. With a roar, Doomsday hoisted up Dracula's body and started smashing it onto the floor numerous times, leaving massive cracks before hurling him away to smash through a pillar. Dracula's headless body twitched amongst the rubble as Doomsday turned away to continue wrecking havoc throughout the castle, but Dracula's body getting back it its feet drew his attention back around to see the vampire's head regenerate from the stump. Dracula cracked his neck.
Dracula: Well...that seems to be an issue.
Doomsday roared again and charged forward, and Dracula stuck his hand out to summon a pillar of fire beneath him as he stepped forward. Doomsday was engulfed by the flames, roaring in anger before Dracula flew forward, grabbed Doomsday by the face and slammed the back of his head into the ground. Doomsday grunted behind Dracula's hand and his spiked beard suddenly expanded, shredding Dracula's hand. The Dark Lord hissed and pulled back before Doomsday took control of his own backwards momentum to grab Dracula, reverse their positions and slam Dracula onto his back. They continued skidding back for a moment and when they came to a stop, Doomsday extended his fist's spikes and stabbed them down to impale Dracula. Dracula's blood splattered out before he suddenly teleported out of Doomsday's grasp, appearing behind Doomsday in the air and stretching out his arms and cape to send out a barrage of fireballs down at his foe. The barrage bombarded and exploded against Doomsday back, making him roar and whip around to hurl one of his knuckle spikes up at Dracula, skewering him through the chest. Dracula looked down at the wound, before snorting and firing out a bolt of electricity that nailed Doomsday in the chest. Doomsday barely flinched and merely hurled spike after spike, which impaled Dracula a second time and ripped off his arm and leg, before eventually hitting his forehead. Dracula merely regenerated from the damage and looked down at the blood that had fallen onto the floor from his wounds, before grinning and sweeping his hand, sending the blood out to entangle around Doomsday. The monster roared as he fought the strands whilst Dracula floated down in front of him.
Dracula: A little stuck are we my spiky fiend?
His hand shot out to grab Doomsday by the throat, making him gargle in anger.
Dracula: Let's see if I can make it more comfortable for you. Less blood is usually the answer.
Dracula bared his fangs and he lunged forward to sink them into Doomsday's flesh but before he could, a spike sprout from the area of skin he was targeting, stabbing him through the back of the throat. Dracula gargled in shock whilst Doomsday's spikes expanded to cut through the blood, freeing himself. He grabbed Dracula, tearing him off his spike and smashing him into the ground, the impact making the vampire bounce back up into the air so that Doomsday could deliver a series of punches that seemed to make the vampire's body contort in several different directions at once. Doomsday eventually grabbed hold of Dracula's back and left leg in either hand and hold him above his head, roaring before pulling Dracula in half. The vampire's blood rained down onto Doomsday as he roared, holding the remains of his foe up in the air, but then Dracula smiled.
Dracula: You haven't learned, have you?
The blood on Doomsday suddenly burst into flames and he let go of Dracula's body parts in surprise. The two pieces turned into mist before coming together to reform into Dracula. He spread his arms out and send out a Dark Inferno fireball which exploded in Doomsday's face. The monster stumbled back before regaining his footing and grabbing a hold of the second Dark Inferno Dracula sent at him. Doomsday roared, crushing the fireball in his hand and withstanding the explosion before charging out of the smoke cloud and leaping into the air to bring both his fists down at Dracula, smashing him into the ground before pulling his leg back and kicking the vampire in the stomach, sending him flying back to smash through the double doors out of the throne room.
Dracula brought himself to a stop and landed back on his feet, looking up to see Doomsday still coming after him, the monster punching out a fist to sent out three long spikes towards the vampire from afar. But the spikes stopped short of Dracula's face as a backwards pulling force suddenly came into being. Doomsday looked around to see that a black hole had been suddenly generated behind him, and it was increasing in strength. Doomsday grunted as he struggled against the pull until Dracula fired out a swarm of bats that clawed at Doomsday's eyes. His footing was lessened in his surprise and the monster was sucked down into the black hole. Dracula smirked and clenched his hand to compress the black hole down. But before it could, Doomsday's fist punched out through the hole and the monster dragged itself out with a roar, the singularity dispelling at his action. Dracula was so stunned that he barely reacted as Doomsday darted up to him and slugged him across the face, sending him flying through several walls of the castle.
Doomsday: DOOM!
He punched the ground, spreading out cracks across the ground towards Dracula, sending him tumbling down through the crevice. Doomsday straightened back up, rolling his shoulders and hissing in satisfaction. He suddenly sensed something above him and he looked up just in time for a meteor to smash through the ceiling and onto him, driving him down through several floors.
The meteor eventually smashed Doomsday onto the ground floor of the castle, remaining there on top of the monster before it was knocked away, the monster getting back to his feet. Growling drew his attention and he turned to see a group of monsters, consisting of the spear wielding Slogra, a Werewolf, the Minotaur and a legion of Lesser Demons. Dracula's voice suddenly boomed out;
Dracula: Kill this creature.
Doomsday observed the horde coming towards him before chuckling and unleashing a spray of spores from his body that drifted over the creatures, infecting them. Their eyes glowered green and spikes grew out of random parts of their bodies until they were as mentally twisted as he was. The transformed legion roared, prompting Dracula to appear behind them.
Dracula: Foolish traitors.
The monsters roared, the Minotaur, Slogra and Werewolf leading the charge towards their own master. Three swipes of his hands later and the three of them had been sliced in half. The Lesser Demons surged forward, surrounding Dracula and slashing at him with their claws but the Dark Lord remained motionless until he raised his hands and began channeling the Demonic Meggido before unleashing it, scorching the demons out of existence and blowing a massive hole out of the side of the castle. As the dust cleared, Dracula looked around for his foe, but Doomsday found him first, coming out of the smoke towards him to swing his fist upwards into the vampire's gut, knocking him into the ceiling. Before the vampire could fall back to earth, Doomsday leapt up and delivered a series of punches into Dracula. The momentum of Doomsday's leap carried him and Dracula upwards as he continuously pummeled Dracula in an upwards recreation of Mass Destruction. Eventually, Doomsday's intense attack and momentum brought the two of them up through the last ceiling of the castle, the two ending on the roof.
Doomsday pulled away from Dracula as they got to the roof, the vampire sliding backwards to one edge of it. Doomsday cracked his knuckles and started towards Dracula, raising his fist to bring it down on the Dark Lords head. But then Dracula's eyes flashed and a burst of power sent Doomsday skidding backwards. Dracula rose up into the air, the Power of Chaos surging through his body as he transformed.
Dracula: Behold my true form and DESPAIR!
He entered his Symphony of the Night state, with two giant wings, claws and several different heads all surrounding him. Doomsday roared and charged forward, but a single claw swipe sent him flying backwards to smash through a massive gargoyle. Dracula roared and blood rained from the sky to douse Doomsday, burning the monster with its acidic properties. Doomsday roared in genuine pain until he was able to adapt to the acid enough so that he could charge towards the transformed Dracula, leaping into the air with his spiked knuckles poised.
Doomsday: DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
But then Dracula's clawed grabbed Doomsday and brought them face-to-face.
Dracula: I'm afraid you are the one who is doomed.
Doomsday opened his mouth to roar again but no sound came out. He remained frozen in Dracula's gaze, unable to understand what was happening until the red glow of his eyes faded for good as Dracula completed his Soul Drain. He released Doomsday's corpse, letting it fall down into the somehow summoned jaws of Chaos itself, which snapped closed around the alien monstrosity.
KO!
Outcome[]
Boomstick: What is a man? Someone who found that freaking intense!
Wiz: Doomsday's kill-resistant adaptions and Dracula's unholy immortality certainly made this amongst the hardest of our matchups to determine and both ultimately had several notable advantages over the other.
Boomstick: Like the classic brains vs. brawns competition. Having an actual brain, Dracula was certainly smarter than Doomsday, but Doomsday was also far faster and physically stronger.
Wiz: That he may have been, but Doomsday ultimately lacked the means to kill Dracula, considering he can only be harmed by holy weaponry.
Boomstick: And whilst Dracula takes time to resurrect after each defeat, he can come back straight away after being disintegrated, so whilst Doomsday is strong enough to make Kryptonians wet themselves, he couldn't keep Dracula down.
Popup: Dracula has complete immunity to poisons, so Doomsday's venomous spikes and mutating spores would be ineffective.
Wiz: And as a matter of fact, Dracula actually had the means to overpower Doomsday. Remember, the entity Chaos, which he draws power from, has the power to sustain an entire universe by itself. With the same level of power going into Dracula and his abilities, Doomsday's strength would have mattered even less in fact.
Boomstick: That just left Dracula needing a way to kill Doomsday, which is easier said than done since, you, know Doomsday can shrug off physical and energy attacks of any intensity.
Wiz: After much analysis, we discovered that Dracula did have a means of killing Doomsday; via the targeting of his soul. Whilst Doomsday having a soul has never been outright discussed, it has never been outright stated that he doesn't have one.
Popup: It's never been demonstrated if Doomsday had immunity to acids, so Dracula's blood acid rain could possibly give him a new means of killing Doomsday.
Boomstick: Not only can Dracula absorb souls, but if he wants he can even simple erase them from existence. And finally, whilst Doomsday can adapt to opponent's weakness, it's unlikely that he could become holy, so to speak, since that's more along the mystical side of the power spectrum, compared to Doomsday's biological based powers.
Wiz: Doomsday was unrelenting and an immense physical threat but Dracula had the unholy regeneration, soul-stealing power and chaotic connection to kill his unkillable rival.
Boomstick: Dracula was no sym-phony of the fight.
Wiz: The winner is Dracula.
