Season 1, Episode 2 - Sonic the Hedgehog vs JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Darkness. The opposite of light. Where light spawns heroes, darkness spawns villians. Two mysterious villains come into contact with each other, but who's going to come out alive? Mephiles the Dark, the killer of Sonic the Hedgehog, or DIO, rival of the Joestar bloodline?
Introduction[]
Aqua: The darkness is spooky. A person surrounded by nothing but darkness is bound to be forever scared. However, there are some people who relish being alone in the dark, deciding to remain quiet and mysterious while achieving their goals.
Octoling: These two shady and evil characters meet up to do battle, but only one can come out alive. Mephiles the Dark, the cold-hearted killer of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Aqua: And DIO Brando, rival of the Joestar bloodline. I'm Aqua, she's Octoling, and it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to see who would win a Death Battle.
Mephiles[]
Aqua: The story of how the existence of Mephiles the Dark made its way to the universe of Sonic the Hedgehog must start within the small island town of Soleanna.
Octoling: Soleanna was a small town very similar to Venice, but was treated more so like a country, having its own monarchy and powerful army to protect against any outside forces meaning the city harm. Wow, must be pretty dedicated to itself, huh?
Aqua: The town of Soleanna was one that worshipped a god. This was the sun god Solaris...
Octoling: The alien creature from that animated Superman movie?!
Aqua: N-No, Solaris was the sun god of the town, one that nearly every citizen believed in and thought about. Some were accepting of the religion following Solaris, while others... took their beliefs a little far.
Octoling: These Bible thumpers were in fact the monarchy of Soleanna. Let's just say the royals wanted to control time or something, and created the 'Solaris Project' to do it.
Aqua: The legend of Solaris was made of two halves, a fire deity known as Iblis, and a shadowy creature by the name of Mephiles. Once the two fused together, Solaris would be born. Too bad Mephiles wasn't exactly the best person to trust, with the negotiations attracting the attention of G.U.N. and their top agent, Shadow the Hedgehog.
Octoling: Okay, what's the deal with Shadow and demonic entities? Do G.U.N. send him on these missions because of his past with Black Doom?
Aqua: Because Shadow is the most equipped for these types of things, most likely. Still, to make a long story short, Solaris Project went wrong, Iblis was sealed inside the princess' soul, and Mephiles stole the shadow of Shadow to become... Mephiles the Dark.
Octoling: Wow, double the redundancy there, Aqua!
Aqua: To awaken Iblis and fuse with him to become Solaris, Mephiles first had to try and kill Sonic the Hedgehog while he was... close friends with the princess who had Iblis within her.
Octoling: Which was easily the worst romance ever! Still, a better fate for Sonic than being written by the guys behind Colors and Generations. At least the 06 team tried!
Aqua: And in order to take down Sonic, first Mephiles had to gain some skills. Mephiles' main power comes in the form of his shadow stealing. With this he can effectively become a duplicate of the person he's fighting, gaining their powers and potential.
Octoling: Mephiles' main form is that of Shadow the Hedgehog. With Shadow's appearance and abilities, Mephiles can perform tricks like the Spin Dash, Homing Attack and the Spin Attack. We seem to cover Sonic a lot here.
Aqua: Mephiles' moveset isn't just limited to Spin Attacks though. Mephiles is more of a ranged fighter, having access to techniques like the Chaos Control, where Mephiles can stop time for up to 10 seconds, and the Chaos Spear, a deadly bolt of Chaos Energy.
Octoling: Then there's the Chaos Blast, a move that let's Mephiles blast some energy in a 10 feet radius. This is capable of disintegrating full human beings in one use!
Aqua: To disintegrate the human body, that Chaos Blast would most likely contain the equivalent of 3 Gigajoules worth of energy.
Octoling: That's way more than it would've taken to send Marty McFly back to the future!
Aqua: That's... That's Gigawatts, Octo.
Octoling: Um... yeah, back to Mephiles. Hehe.
Aqua: Mephiles can theoretically copy the moveset of anyone should he take their shadow, even gaining their appearance too. He hasn't used this on characters like Sonic, or Knuckles, or Iblis, be he most likely could. But Mephiles isn't just some psuedo-Mega Man, because he himself is pretty damn powerful.
Octoling: Mephiles can manipulate shadows to blend in to the background, catching his oppenent off guard by using surprise attacks, or by using his target's own shadow and attacking them with it. Mephiles can also create duplicates of himself, making a powerful Mephiles army. These clones are glass cannons though, so they can easily be wiped out.
Aqua: Mephiles also has the ability to manipulate energy into projectiles, force fields, shields and even Stray Cat like energy bubbles that can blow up.
Octoling: And you get on at me for referencing JoJo!
Aqua: Mephiles is capable of regenerating from a gaseous state, and can even fly and crystalise himself to make him some cool blades that he can also use as weapons or projectiles. But arguably Mephiles' greatest power comes from when he fuses with Iblis to become Soleanna's god himself, Solaris.
Octoling: Solaris is literally god levels worth of power. To sum up his power, Solaris exists in all forms of time, such as past, present and future. Killing or defeating Solaris in just one part of time won't be enough to stop him, with it taking three different characters to fully take him down.
Aqua: Solaris has the ability to erase people from existence, can reality warp to give himself an edge, contains the intelligence of Mephiles and the ferociousness of Iblis, and is literally omnipresent. However, this omnipresence is limited to time and not space.
Octoling: Mephiles has some incredible powers, and is smart enough to trick opponents into believing his lies, with even the unfoolable Blaze the Cat falling for his tricks.
Aqua: Mephiles has managed to tank attacks and even defeat Shadow the Hedgehog in combat, the same Shadow that holds power equal to that of a single Chaos Emerald, which alone could move a continent. Hell, he's comparable to Iblis, who took on Silver and Blaze simultaneously.
Octoling: Mephiles is also fast enough to keep up with the faster than light Sonic, can evade attacks from all three hedgehogs, and even took on the might of Shadow when his inhibitor rings were off! That's pretty damn strong.
Aqua: And that's before Solaris. While being Solaris, Mephiles can move through time by movement alone, and was said by Dr. Eggman, who has an IQ of 300, that he could, quote "eat dimensions for lunch". Solaris isn't multiversal...
Octoling: But more so multi-universal. He's close though. But of course, with all this power, some of it was bound to go to his head, like every great villain.
Aqua: Mephiles has been defeated by Shadow the Hedgehog before, and was taken down once and for all when the events of Sonic 06 were erased from existence, trapping Mephiles in nonexistence forever. He's also...
Octoling: A cocky little bitch! Anyone that isn't with him is merely an ant to step on to this guy, which is completely dumb when he faces a similar opponent like him, case in point, DIO!
Aqua: Solaris can be overpowered by a strong enough opponent, and while he is capable of erasing beings and rewriting reality, he isn't immune to the same effects. Still, Mephiles is pretty powerful, and can call himself a god wholeheartedly.
Octoling: So lesson of the day, don't dare to cross path with Mephiles the Dark!
DIO[]
Aqua: The story of the Brando family is one of poverty and tragedy.
Octoling: Dario Brando and his wife were dirt poor and living in the slums of 19th century Liverpool, England. Barely capable of affording rent on their home, the Brando couple had to resort to stealing.
Aqua: One fateful day, the Brando's had come across a toppled carriage within a ditch. The woman on board was dead, while the man and his baby son were barely alive. It just so happens that this was George Joestar, a rich man living in the countryside.
Octoling: Dario tried to steal the engagement ring off of George, but the Joestar thought differently, offering gratitude to Dario and his wife. Which is pretty stupid to believe, but hey, George was a rare example of a wealthy person being kind, so I'm fine with it!
Aqua: Cut to 13 years later, when the Brando couple had a young son. This kid was incredibly talented and was very upper class for a poor boy, but he had very sinister motives.
Octoling: The boy hated his father for killing his mother, and sought to become everything his father wasn't, which involved him being rich. And also not dead.
Aqua: Being sick, Dario had to rely on his son to supply him with medicine, because this was the late 19th century and diseases were very easy to die from then.
Octoling: Yeah, Dario's closeness to death was actually made even worse because his son was actually poisoning him. So, after killing his father, this boy was adopted by the Joestar family, bringing him face to face with the Joestar heir, Jonathan, or JoJo as he's also known.
Aqua: And thus began the century spanning feud between the Joestar family and the boy, Dio Brando.
Octoling: To kill the Joestar bloodline and rule the world, DIO had to abandon his humanity and use the legendary Stone Mask to become a vampire, making him immortal and giving him the power needed to take out future Joestars.
Aqua: With DIO on the loose, the bizarre adventures of Jonathan Joestar's descendants would involve a race against time to take down the vampire himself.
Octoling: And being a monster that wants to "suck your blood", DIO gained some kickass and not so vampire like abilities. Well, he did technically lose them after stealing Jonathan's body, but screw it, we'll give him a chance here.
Aqua: The first of these come from the powers you'd expect a vampire to have. DIO can drain the blood from a person's arteries, is fast enough to avoid the eyesight of a human, has immense strength and is extremely durable.
Octoling: DIO is also a master of stealth, and can blend into shadows pretty easily. He can move so silently that even in silence he can't be tracked by over 5 people at once.
Aqua: Then there's DIO's non-vampire vampire powers. The Space Ripper Stingy Eyes is pure vampiric essence that is fired like a laser beam, while the slightest touch from DIO's hands can freeze your entire body in just a few seconds.
Octoling: Yeah, believe it or not, that is actually possible in real life. Ask Aqua, 'cos I know shit about science.
Aqua: To freeze over an entire human in that time, DIO's Vaporising Freeze must have temperatures reaching absolute zero and going below that still!
Octoling: Even with skills like that, you may be thinking that DIO is light on moves, but we've got to talk about the power of DIO's Stand, The World! I'm sorry, I meant ZA WARUDO!!!
Aqua: First, to understand DIO's World, we need to look at the laws that come with the power of a Stand.
Octoling: Ugh, why does EVERY cool thing have to have rules to them. What's the point!?
Aqua: Stands are physical manifestations of a user's fighting spirit. Only those with a Stand can interact with and see them. However, if a Stand fights a non Stand user, while the non-Stand guy cannot hurt the Stand itself, the Stand can hurt them. Any damage done to a Stand reflects back on to its user, and any part of the Stand can be summoned at will, be it an arm to act as a fifth limb or as an extension of one.
Octoling: DIO's Stand lets him use superpowered punches, move really fast and even stop time.
Aqua: The World's Time Stop is actually longer lasting than Jotaro's. Not only can DIO stop time for up to 9 seconds, he can also extend it through continued use. This is a power that DIO loves to abuse, to taunt and play with his opponents as well as extend the stop length. Enough usages will lead to DIO being able to stop time indefinitely.
Octoling: But in an alternative timeline, DIO was able to kill Jotaro and achieve power much greater than that of The World's Time Stop. This is Heaven Ascension DIO, and his Stand, The World Over Heaven!!!
Aqua: While the main power of The World was to stop time, the power of The World Over Heaven is to perform a move known as Reality Overwrite, which as the name implies, allows DIO to warp reality to his whim.
Octoling: With this god power, DIO can heal himself, null his opponent and their power, erase existence, permanently stop time, heavily damage his opponent, or as we've mentioned, warp reality. It's really freaking OP!
Aqua: To activate Reality Overwrite, all DIO has to do is get up close and punch someone, allowing Overwrite to take effect. But that's more a flaw, which leads us into why DIO isn't as perfect as he thinks he is.
Octoling: DIO has a crippling habit of underestimating his for, and loves screwing with them to throw them off. He's really cocky, and treats himself as a god. What a dick!
Aqua: And while DIO can null the effects of other god Stands like D4C, Gold Experience Requiem and Tusk ACT 4, he's still capable of being taken out physically.
Octoling: But DIO is pretty capable. He's so powerful when 'Over Heaven' that he erased Funny Valentine from not 1, not 2, but infinite universes within the multiverse!
Aqua: Which goes to show that if you defy DIO, be careful, because you'll have nowhere to run, or even a life if you encounter him.
Interlude[]
Aqua: All right, the combatants are ready to go!
Octoling: It's time to rock and roll, because it's time for a...
Both: DEATH BATTLE!!!
Death Battle[]
The streets of Cairo in Egypt were unusually quiet. No signs of cars, people, hell, even lights were scarce. Darkness plagued the city, playing to the benefit of a certain vampire and a being of evil energy.
CRASH!!!
A nearby shop window shattered open as a young kid was launched out into the blank streets, skidding and rolling across the ground, leaving a blood trail leading to his body.
Down on the ground and bleeding badly, Jotaro Kujo looked up to see a dark, shadow covered figure approach him. As bizarre as his adventures had been up to this point, Jotaro was clearly not ready to match this power.
A unique power it was, something even Stands couldn't comprehend with. This shadowy figure was not Jotaro's planned opponent, but instead a being in the shape of an anthropomorphic hedgehog. Walking out into the moonlight to make his presence, the being revealed his face to Jotaro.
This was Mephiles the Dark.
"Hmmph, your power is quite impressive, Jotaro." scoffed the villain, hiding a... smile on his face. You couldn't tell from his lack of a visible mouth, but it was pretty close.
"Too bad it's clearly not enough to take me down. DIO promised me eternal rule over this futile planet, but I saw that he was not fit to achieve godhood alongside me." Mephiles continued on, monologuing his true ambitions. "I'm merely taking you out for my own benefit. Then I shall kill DIO, and reap his rewards."
Mephiles continued talking to the downed teenager, unaware of a bigger presence looming over him. Perched atop a lamppost, a certain man watched on. Betrayal was something that this powerful monster would not take lightly, and within time he would deliver his punishment.
Mephiles stood above Jotaro, readying a Chaos Spear at Jotaro's head...
Only to have lost the boy almost immediately after powering up. The body of Jotaro had gone, like nothing was there in the first place. Mephiles looked about, only to feel the crack in time once more.
"Show yourself, coward! Face me, and I'll think about sparing you." the hedgehog shadow offered, hoping to lure out his attacker. Had Jotaro's teammates arrived?
No, they couldn't have. Avdol, Iggy and Kakyoin were long dead, and Mephiles made sure of that himself. Polnareff was hiding somewhere, and Joseph had been knocked out...
"My dear Mephiles..." a smooth yet angry voice boomed in the night, "I promised you godhood alongside me. But you betrayed me, something that I see as punishable by death!"
Time cracked again. Something was going on, and Mephiles knew who it was.
Stepping out from behind the shadows of the dark alley, the voice revealed himself.
His blonde hair flowing in the wind and his tattered cape following him, the vampire looked directly into the green blank eyes of his enemy.
"And to extract my punishment, first I need to encounter you myself. I, DIO, will be the one to make you fall!!!"
Mephiles just chuckled, charging his Chaos Energy and beginning to float in the air, matching height with DIO.
"Very well. Let's settle it like gladiators in a colosseum. This has become personal!"
Mephiles charged up a Spin Dash targeted at DIO. Bursting forward in a blur, DIO smirked as he effortlessly caught Mephiles with The World. Using his Stand, DIO struck the hedgehog with a harsh blow to the face, pushing Mephiles a few feet away.
Knowing that DIO had some sort of power blocking him, Mephiles dashed back to keep himself at a distance, with DIO walking forward menacingly to get Mephiles within his Stand's range. Sending Chaos Spears at DIO, Mephiles kept his distance, while DIO used his Stand to block the energy bolts. Impaling his wrist, DIO laughed as he pulled the culprit spear out, punching it towards the shadow monster, who controlled its projection, sending it sailing past him.
With the spear missing and the knowledge that only close attacks could take him down, Mephiles decided to get up close, Homing Attacking DIO several times. Each time DIO laughed, before punching the ball attack twice with his left and then right fist, all while shouting his infamous...
"USELESS USELESS!!!"
Mephiles went flying backwards, as he was met almost immediately by DIO again, this time appearing behind him to strike him in the back, throwing Mephiles face first to the ground. DIO had stopped time, giving him an extra edge over Mephiles, leading to the shadow's beating.
DIO chuckled, evilly smirking at Mephiles, who struggled up. DIO looked at his downed opponent, only to be caught off guard as Mephiles suddenly disappeared, before appearing behind him to throw a punch. DIO brought The World up to block once again, with Mephiles striking the Stand's wrists. Mephiles used his speed to rapidly punch The World, hoping to break DIO's guard.
But defense wasn't in DIO's nature.
Using The World, DIO threw back his own punches, each one colliding with Mephiles at speeds of over 3,000 miles per hour.
And it wouldn't be a DIO Stand rush without...
"MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!"
The two dark beings collided their blows so many times that it wouldn't be too long until one broke apart. And believe it or not, that person was...
DIO!
Flying back after being socked in the face by Mephiles' punch, DIO crashed to the ground pretty painfully, as his arm broke shielding his impact. Mephiles slowly approached the vampire, proceeding to grab the collar of DIO's shirt and lifting him up.
Mephiles charged up a Chaos Blast, and was getting very, very close to releasing it...
"Any last words, DIO? Better make it quick, because I'm getting impatient!"
DIO looked into Mephiles' cold, green eyes and grinned, bearing his sharp vampire teeth for the shadow to see.
"Very well..." laughed DIO. His red eyes clearly showing that he had something up his sleeve.
"THE WORLD, TIME HAS STOPPED!!!"
Mephiles was immediately punched by DIO's right hook, forcing the shadow to drop the vampire before suddenly freezing in place as time stopped around him.
One second has passed...
DIO snapped his arm back into place, the blood squirting in Mephiles' eyes.
Two seconds have passed...
DIO, slowly approached Mephiles, summoning The World to his side.
Three seconds have passed...
DIO reached into his jacket pocket, smirking as soon as he felt a certain sharp weapon in his hand.
Four seconds have passed...
DIO proceeded to strike Mephiles using his Stand, with a right hook, before following with a punch with the left fist.
Five seconds have passed...
DIO hopped backwards, barely out of The World's range. Pulling his hand out of his pocket, the vampire gripped several objects.
Six seconds have passed...
DIO revealed the weapons to be his trusty knives, throwing at least 50 of them with the blades pointed at Mephiles.
Seven seconds have passed...
DIO walked past Mephiles and headed straight for the rooftop of a restaurant behind Shadow's shadow, where he stood next to for a brief break.
Eight seconds have passed...
DIO hopped to the rooftop and darted off somewhere, in an attempt to find a special weapon he loved to use.
Nine seconds have passed. Time has resumed...
Mephiles opened his eyes only to be blinded by DIO's blood. Wiping them clean, Mephiles was immediately impaled from all angles by flying knives, which drew blood. Then a bunch of invisible punches launched him right next to a specific restaurant, where Mephiles crashed to the ground covered in blood. Looking up, DIO was prepared, launching a certain attack down on the shadow.
"HAHAHA, IT'S A ROAD ROLLER!!!" screamed DIO at the top of his lungs, throwing the yellow machine on top of Mephiles. Of course, it wouldn't be a road roller combo until DIO and The World punched the damn thing even further into the ground, squashing Mephiles underneath.
"TOO LATE, I'VE WON MEPHILES!!!"
MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA... MUDA!!!
The roller exploded into pieces, leaving flaming vehicle parts all over the area, creating some light and visibility. DIO looked to where he had crushed Mephiles, and saw that there was nothing there. He did it. He had beaten Mephiles...
At least for the time being...
DIO turned to be struck in the face by punches speeding faster than light, forcing the vampire backwards fairly easily. Looking forward at his attacker, DIO recognised the black and gray color scheme...
And the appearance.
Mephiles had effortlessly healed himself and absorbed DIO's shadow, taking his powers and appearance for himself. Think of Mephiles' new appearance as shadow Diavolo but instead it was DIO.
DIO looked into the crimson red eyes of his doppelganger, getting up to approach him. He didn't care how Mephiles survived, or how he escaped, so long as he won, he couldn't care less. The World materialized behind DIO, while Mephiles just smirked, summoning his World as well.
DIO struck first, with The World throwing a left punch at Mephiles' World. Mephiles blocked with a kick of his right foot, only to withdraw his Stand and fire a point blank Chaos Spear.
Time once again cracked as DIO suddenly showed up behind Mephiles, who had already anticipated that and retaliated by turning around and striking DIO. The vampire grinned as his World blocked Mephiles' one, only this time DIO's guard broke, allowing Mephiles to gain a free strike at DIO's lower body...
DIO coughed out blood as Mephiles DIO had driven shadow The World's fist right through DIO.
"N-Nani!?! This is useless useless useless USELESS!!!" DIO screamed at the top of his lungs, angered at the upper hand Mephiles had gained.
The only way DIO could escape was by stopping time.
Too bad Mephiles had a similar idea, because as soon as DIO shouted...
"ZA WARUDO!!!"
Mephiles had decided to stop time himself. The anomaly activated by the double time stop created a rift in the air, which in turn blew up literally in the fighter's faces, whisking them away into nothingness...
Awakening in darkness, DIO looked to his jacket, where a strange power was resonating. This was what he needed, and he had to use it. Pulling the item out, DIO looked at it in awe.
"The Holy Corpse. Of course, I can use this to achieve Heaven, just like my diary foretold. You hear that, MEPHILES, I AM A GOD!!!" DIO yelled as a light absorbed the vampire.
DIO cackled loudly as his hair grew to shoulder length and his skin, along with The World's, turned white. Now adorning the appearance of a god, DIO had ascended beyond Heaven. He was...
Over Heaven...
DIO looked at his surroundings once more, catching a glimpse of a certain shadow being, who had reverted to his original form
"How could I lose? How could I fall to such an insolent human being?" Mephiles questioned to himself, bitter in defeat. Getting up, Mephiles immediately charged for DIO...
Only to be suddenly back to where he started. For Mephiles, every step forward was counted as two steps back, and seeming nothing was affecting him. So Mephiles pondered...
How am I being reset?
DIO knew that it was his Stand's super light punch that activated his power upon Mephiles in the first place, warping time and space to send him back to square one. This prompted DIO to laugh.
"Is that anger of yours supposed to aid you? It means nothing to I, DIO!!!"
Mephiles stopped, instead holding his face with his left hand as he insanely chuckled in amusement.
"Oh, it's not my anger that aids me!" exclaimed the being. "My aid is much stronger!"
Mephiles was suddenly surrounded by a wave of fire, which engulfed his body to awaken his true power.
Within a few seconds, DIO's eyes went from locking on to a hedgehog to locking on to a godly creature. Mephiles the Dark was no longer...
"For now there is only..."
Solaris!!!
DIO scanned his godly opponent. It looked as if they drew from a similar power source, with both being in the same colors in the same unique appearance. Still there was no time for games, as Mephiles fired off some projectiles in the form of whole buildings that had been dragged from the fabric of reality.
The godly vampire scoffed in amusement, as he approached Solaris with his Stand shielding. The building came forward, but was shattered by a powerful strike from DIO. Mephiles' conscience from within Solaris told the god to block with several metal crates, energy balls and a bunch of debris. DIO punched one of the energy spheres and used his Reality Overwrite to transform the debris into dust. With a clear space, DIO flew through to face Solaris up close.
"Bow down to me Mephiles, and I'll consider sparing you..." DIO calmly spoke to his opponent, only to be met by a swift punch from Solaris' three fingered hand. DIO stopped himself from flying into the distance and zoomed for Solaris, using The World to throw several punches at Solaris.
"MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA!!!"
"Pathetic, DIO." Solaris' voice echoed through the blank void. Solaris effortlessly grabbed The World's fist in the air, being able to see the Stand very clearly. Solaris crushed DIO's right hand, letting go to blast him away with a powerful beam.
DIO stopped his flight once more, clutching his hand in immense pain, becoming very desperate for an attempt to win and avoid losing his power. DIO's fear was only boosted by Solaris' laugh booming in the space. Solaris was impatient, and assured victory by revealing something he knew to DIO...
"I know your power, DIO. You need to punch something to activate your power, but you can't when you've lost them. Hence why I crushed your right fist, so that you couldn't stop me! HAHAHAHA!!!"
Threatening DIO, Solaris forgot that DIO had still one other chance to take him out. DIO laughed...
"Oh, Solaris. You're a fool to count me out!" DIO yelled in victory.

Solaris noticed that something was happening. DIO had punched him with his right hand, which Solaris had crushed. But DIO still had his left hand, which enabled him to activate Reality Overwrite.
Solaris faded from existence, leaving DIO all alone in the darkness, with The World Over Heaven dissipating back into DIO's body...
But came back out again. DIO thought of something... off with Solaris' erasure. Why didn't he yell in defeat? Where was his pain from losing to DIO? Something wasn't right...
And only Solaris knew what it was...
WAIT, SOLARIS...?
DIO turned to see Solaris once more. Using Reality Overwrite, DIO erased Solaris once again...
Only to be warped back to Solaris again.
DIO repeated this very same process several more times, each time finding himself at Solaris' presence once again.
Solaris chuckled, "You're a fool, DIO. I exist in all forms of time. I am unbeatable!"
DIO, in a fit of rage, flew at Solaris with The World Over Heaven guarding him. Throwing a punch at Solaris, who had transformed into his Phase 2 form, DIO was left stunned, as his hand was caught by an energy construct in the shape of a hand. Solaris proceeded to crush DIO's hand, forcing it to ooze blood from the fingernails.
"Sorry DIO, but your power is slowly fading. With no hands, you are not capable of becoming a g..."
DIO laughed. His hand was slowly losing feeling, but not quick enough. DIO smiled in victory as Solaris suddenly found himself fading again, only this time, DIO had a different fate planned.
"Foolishness will get you nowhere, Mephiles. My power is GREATER THAN TIME! YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A USELESS, PATHETIC RAT, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! My Reality Overwrite can work through infinite universes and times, where you will be stuck dying for eternity. THIS IS MY POWER. WRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!" yelled DIO so loudly that he could probably be heard across time and space itself. Solaris couldn't handle it, and before he faded entirely, he yelled out a cursed...
"I... CANNOT LOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeee......."
Floating through time, DIO laughed in victory. Mephiles and Solaris... were no more.

Octoling: Holy hell! What just happened!?!
Aqua: Mephiles is a pretty good opponent overall, and his skill is something to behold. However... DIO was just much much better.
Octoling: Base Mephiles was pretty capable of taking out DIO. While DIO certainly had the speed with his Stand, Mephiles was better equipped, much stronger and way more durable.
Aqua: Anything DIO did physically to Mephiles, Mephiles could literally just survive that. Plus, Mephiles has taken on much stronger opponents than DIO that could also stop time. Case in point, Shadow the Hedgehog.
Octoling: It's a no brainer that Shadow is on a level much higher than that of DIO. Shadow in base is literally a continent level fighter, and Mephiles survived a fight against him when he took off his Inhibitor Rings. Do I need to mention that without his Inhibitor Rings, Shadow is much stronger!
Aqua: However, the tricky factor came from their ultimate forms, Solaris and Heaven Ascension DIO.
Octoling: While both are nigh-omnipresent and neither really had an advantage in speed, DIO's Reality Overwrite was just... way, way more powerful. Solaris, at his best, can adjust multiple universes to his whim, but DIO and The World Over Heaven erased Funny Valentine from INFINITE universes.
Aqua: So, with a much better warping ability, the question remained. Could DIO erase Solaris from all timelines and universes? Well, we found that the answer is clearly... yes.
Octoling: Solaris does exist in literally all forms of time, but DIO can erase beings from not just all of time, but all of space as well. Going back to before, DIO erasing Funny Valentine from infinity is an example of this.
Aqua: Speaking of Valentine, remember when Valentine used his Stand, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, to attack DIO? Well, DIO nullified not only that, but also Giorno Giovanna's Gold Experience Requiem too. DIO has shown off more of his power, showing that he has better experience in his truer form compared to Solaris.
Octoling: And to push the bullet further into Solaris' chances, Solaris doesn't go straight for warping his enemies away immediately, for example the battle with Sonic, Shadow and Silver. Meanwhile, DIO more than likely goes straight for Reality Overwrite, hence why he relied so much on that power in Eyes of Heaven.
Aqua: Overall, while Mephiles and Solaris were pretty powerful and godly, DIO just one upped that fairly easily.
Octoling: So, it looks like Solaris's chances were just 'shadowed' in doubt.
Aqua: The winner is DIO Brando!

"What's wrong? Have I weakened your unwavering resolve, Polnareff? Could it be that you truly do fear me? Or did your subconscious fear cause your body to act against your will?"

"I was expecting you sooner. As you must know, you're already too late, but there is still time for you to change your mind. Join me, Shadow. Let us teach this world a lesson, and rewrite the future."
