Description[]
A battle between two well-known lightning using heroes, though they do both show off some cowardice from time to time. (Spoilers for the manga of both My Hero Academia and Kimetsu no Yaiba)
Interlude[]
Lightning is simply one of the strongest observable forces of nature. Able to scorch the very earth itself, it, and anyone who has learned how to harness it should be feared by their opponents... normally. Not everyone can truly utilize this ability, such as-

and Zenitsu Agatsuma! The master of the Thunder Style's First Form!
Denki Kaminari[]
In the world of My Hero Academia, roughly 80% of the population is gifted with a special ability known as a quirk. Quirks can come in all shapes and sizes, from increased senses to transformations and everything in between. One such quirk was electrification, not a rare quirk by any means, but definitely not one to scoff at. A shame then that it's user... isn't the most capable... That being said, through his current year at U.A, Kaminari has shown he is more than worthy to be a hero people can look up to.
Kaminari's first and most notable ability is known as 1.3 million volts, a large dome shaped attack that spreads out in all directions. This attack has slowly grown over the series, first becoming 2 million volts, and potentially higher as the series has progressed. Of course though, this ability displays Kaminari's three main weaknesses, often at the same time.
First and most importantly, Kaminari has a limit. Not just your typical surpassable 'anime limit' but a legitimate limit to the wattage he can produce. This specific limit is never actually stated however, as we've seen 1.3 million volts trigger his limit or 'whey mode' (as dubbed by Kyouka Jirou) as well as not trigger it at various points in the story, regardless of training.
As for the other two, they begin to matter less as we look at Kaminari's growth. Kaminari originally could not control how his energy was discharged as long as it wasn't directly connected to him. However, he has since gained the "point and shoot system". This system developed by Mei Hatsume and Power Loader allows Kaminari to have much better aim in regards to hid electricity. Any disks stuck to a target not only draw in his electricity if they're within his range of 10 meters but can also be tracked via his visor no matter their location.
He can keep up with the likes of Tokoyami and Kirishima, take hits from Shishida and even Nine, and can even survive a cave in happening on top of him. His absorption of electricity means he can even survive a lighting strike directly on top of him!
Overall, Kaminari is an incredibly capable fighter, although his carelessness sometimes gets the better of him.
Zenitsu Agatsuma[]
Zenitsu Agatsuma had lived a somewhat peaceful for a while... that was until he found himself knee deep in debt. However, luckily for the young boy, he met Jigoro Kuwajima who graciously offered to pay for Zenitsu's debt.
Unbeknownst to Zenitsu, Jigoro Kuwajima happen to be the former Thunder Hashira and ended up being taken under wing. The entire event however, managed to draw out most of Zenitsu's cowardly nature and he wasn't able to exert much trust in anyone other then Jigoro who began to refer to as 'Gramps' although even that took quite a bit.
The biggest challenge to him though, appeared in Kaigaku. Kaigaku was Jigoro's other star student, who despised Zenitsu for his weakness and ability to only learn one of the six forms of the Thunder Breathing Style (coincidentally the first form, the only one Kaigaku himself couldn't master).
Despite his small arsenal, Zenitsu has managed to use his three known techniques in various creative ways, albeit subconsciously.
His first and most common technique is the first form of Thunder Style, Thunderclap and Flash. This move is typically a straightforward, lightning fast dash at the opponent but Zenitsu's mastery of the technique has allowed him to use it up to 8 times in rapid succession in what he calls 6 fold and 8 fold. This attack is often his finishing blow, if not his only one, as its able to finish off demons relatively quickly.
The second is what has been dubbed as God Speed. This technique allows him to augment the speed of his other two techniques to extremely high levels, making his speed massively hypersonic at a minimum. However, this technique comes with the a pretty notable side effect, using more than two uses per day does render his legs unusable.
His final and most devastating technique is his very own form of Thunder Style: The Seventh Form, Flaming Thunder God. A move so fast, it's movement isn't even perceptible to the human eye and that's assuming demons like Kaigaku don't have heightened senses meaning it could theoretically be even faster. Past that though, the move is simply an arcing slash propelled at high speeds (with lightning effects of course).
Zenitsu's biggest obstacle however, is his cowardice. For a while he couldn't even fight while awake as half the time he'd faint when he saw a demon. That being said, he's definitely improved his control over his cowardice and fear, though still not to the same level while he's unconscious (outside of one specific fight under very specific circumstances).
Death Battle[]
Deep in the forest, Zenitsu wanders, having been lost for quite a while. His resolve had slowly hardened over his time as a demon slayer but it did not fully solidify his resolve. Just as he felt his panic spiking, he spotted a figure in the distance, almost glowing.
Kaminari readied himself, ready to actually practice using his quirk for once. As his hand began to spark however, he spotted a boy, roughly his age approaching him albeit cautiously.
Kaminari: "Hey! You don't look to be from around here. You lost?"
"Lightning? But that can't be possible..." Zenitsu thought to himself, standing there in shock. "He doesn't even have a sword so... he couldn't be... no, we defeated Muzan right...?"
Kaminari: "Seriously, you okay?"
Kaminari took a step towards Zenitsu not noticing the electricity still crackling in his hand.
And that was it. The shock, stress, confusion, and the fact that he still didn't know where he was all culminated in his first true faint in a while, passing out from the overwhelming sense of fear running through him.
Having seen the boy fall over, Kaminari approached the boy carefully, now noting and subsequently ceasing the electricity upon his hand. As he was about a foot away, Zenitsu's unconscious form suddenly aimed an arcing slash towards Kaminari much to Kaminari's surprise.
Kaminari: "Honestly, calm down, I'm trying to help."
Kaminari had tried to reason but as Zenitsu readied his stance, Kaminari left all negotiation behind him, lost or not, this boy was now a threat.
Kaminari: So, I guess we're doing this.
F I G H T !
Zenitsu: Thunder Style: First Form... Thunderclap and Flash
Kaminari: Wha-
Zenitsu rapidly dashed forward, Kaminari narrowly dodging. That being said, Zenitsu was noticeably getting faster, beginning to bounce off the nearby trees after the first strike.
After barely avoiding a couple more dashes, Kaminari managed to stick one of the pointers to Zenitsu's jacket, though not without multiple cuts across his arms, legs, and torso.
Zenitsu had started slowing down, presumably due to his technique finishing. Taking this opening Kaminari fired off a bolt of electricity, being drawn in by the pointer and making direct contact with Zenitsu. Zenitsu lurched backward, feeling the full impact of the blast.
Kaminari: Look, just calm down we can sort this out alri-
Zenitsu: Thunder Style: First Form - Thunderclap and Flash...
Kaminari: Oh god, not this agai-
Zenitsu: ...God Speed.
Everything happened in almost an instant. Sparks erupted from beneath Zenitsu, Kaminari absorbing any that flew too close. Kaminari, remembering the pointer, had fired another blast toward Zenitsu, though Zenitsu's speed still propelled him forward. Kaminari had managed to avoid a fatal attack, but at the pretty steep cost of blocking with the shooting system which now lay shattered on the ground. That being said, burns were present on both of the boys and the cuts Kaminari had suffered had only gotten worse.
With this, the battle slowed down significantly, with both combatants sustaining heavy injuries. Kaminari had coated his hands with electricity to math Zenitsu's sword swings but it was painfully evident that neither one of them was doing too well.
Seeing an opportunity, Kaminari offered his help one last time.
Kaminari: Look, if you're ok I can get help you know.
And with that he woke up.
Zenitsu: I don't need help from someone who shamelessly defiles Gramps' technique.
Kaminari: Gramps? Who's Gramps? Gran Torino maybe?
Zenitsu: STOP PLAYING DUMB!
Kaminari: ohhh no...
Zenitsu: THUNDER STYLE-
Kaminari readied himself, prepared for another clash with the 'first form'.
Zenitsu: SEVENTH FORM-
"Wait SEVENTH FORM?!" The thought immediately whizzed through Kaminari's head.
Kaminari: Fine... if that's how we're settling this. INDISCRIMINATE SHOCK-
Zenitsu: FLAMING THUNDER GOD!!
Kaminari: 1.3 MILLION VOLTS!!
...
A burst of lightning graced the horizon. An piercing scream could be heard across the forest. The grass and leaves lay scorched around the two fighters. One boy had fallen to the ground, his body heavily burnt in many places and no sign of breathing could be seen. The second boy stood, not looking at his fallen combatant. He was staring blankly ahead, as if he was contemplating his actions. With but a slight glance at the body before him, he spoke but one word...
Kaminari: Wheyyyyy...
KO!

THE WINNER IS: Denki Kaminari
Now to be fair, this battle was anything but clear cut. As quirks are classified as physical manifestations it can be implied that electric quirks are legitimate lightning being fired. This means that both Kaminari's speed and reaction time are surprisingly high as he both reacted too and moved a significant distance to intercept the quirk of a Paranormal Liberation Front member who possessed an electricity based quirk (He is unfortunately unnamed, though if you want to check this out it's Chapter 263 of My Hero Academia). This doesn't put his speed as high as Zenitsu's since the distance is hard to measure but it does set his reaction speed higher as in his fight with Kaigaku, the only lightning speed character Zenitsu fought, he never actually dodged any attacks, he simply took them.
This however leads us into the most difficult debate here... how do the elements in KnY affect the world around them. There are two scenarios here: First, if they do affect the real world and as such have a physical presence, Kaminari can easily absorb the electricity Zenitsu produces. If they don't however, it actually significantly lowers Zenitsu's durability as while he has survived an ACTUAL lightning strike, he was barely conscious after the event, while Kaminari absorbed a lightning strike summoned by Nine even while in his 'Whey' state.
Lastly, Kaminari's electricity can have major variety in kill power. It's Amps that kill, not volts. Kaminari is stated to have a wattage limit, not a voltage limit. While we don't know the exact amount, Kaminari has generated enough electricity to both burn and leave a foe unconscious. Since his 'Whey' state happens after an attack, it's presumable that Kaminari can release an attack of a higher magnitude before entering 'Whey' mode. Even if this isn't the case, even giving Zenitsu the benefit of the doubt in durability it doesn't matter much. Assuming Kaminari is ACTUALLY using 1.3 million volts, he only needs at LEAST 130,000 watts, a number we've seen him absorb before. His lightning absorption feat actually lets us know that he can in fact contain the necessary amount of watts to kill a human (0.1 amps, 130,000 watts/1.3 million volts) but at the very, VERY least, damage Zenitsu.
Zenitsu had the speed and experience, but Kaminari had the damage, variety, range, reaction time, and durability for this battle.
I guess you could say Zenitsu was 'Whey' outta his league.
The winner is Kaminari!
