Crono Vs. Isaac is a battle from ThunderStar30, featuring Crono from the game Chrono Trigger against Isaac from the Golden Sun franchise.
Description[]
Chrono Trigger Vs. Golden Sun! It's a JRPG bout between magic and science, but which will prove to be better than the other?
Interlude[]
Metroid: Crono, the Slayer of Lavos.
Thunder: And Isaac, the Venus Adept of Vale!
Metroid: These two RPG heroes have the magic psynergy to defeat impossible odds, but who will over come the other when the time comes?
Thunder: He's Metroid, I'm Thunder!
Metroid: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.
Crono time travels to DEATH BATTLE![]
Metroid: In 1000 AD, the new millennuim had come. To celebrate, the Kingdom of Guardia held the Millennia Fair. Little did they know things would take a shocking turn.
Thunder: And it all started with a kiddo named Crono.
BACKGROUND
Age: 17
Birthplace:Truce
Time Traveler, Savior of the World
Died at one point but got better
Metroid: Crono merely wished to attend the fair to see Lucca, his best friend, and her new invention, while playing the games for kicks. However, he happened to run into a woman in the fair.
Thunder: The lass, named Marle, kinda came from far away and wanted to have some fun! So Crono showed her around. Everything went fine and dandy until they visited Lucca.
Metroid: Lucca had managed to build a transporter. When Crono used it, it worked as intended. But when Marle used it, a mysterious portal of sorts opened, and Marle was sucked in.
Thunder: Being the good kid he is, Crono went after her, and...was in an area that FELT like his home town. He then found Marle but she...vanished in front of him. Yikes.
Metroid: Crono then learned from Lucca that he was in 600 AD, and Marle disappeared becaused her anscetor was not saved. With the assistance of an anthropromorpic frog named...Frog, they succeeded and brought Marle back....but it didn't end well.
Thunder: Turns out Crono was believed to KIDNAPPED MARLE AND WAS SENTENCED TO DEATH. Because Marle was actually a princess to whole damn time. Luckily Marle and Lucca broke him out via MORE TIME TRAVEL!
Metroid: And it brought them 2300 AD, where they found out in 1999 AD, civilization as a whole would be destroyed by Lavos. Determined to stop this horrible calamity,
Thunder: And he wasn't a dumb kid in over his head, Crono spent his whole life mastering the katana! His skill is good enough, even master swordsman struggle against him!
Metroid: He's also got great stamina, being able to climb up castles without breaking a sweat. And being affiliated with Light, Crono takes less damage from lightning and light based attacks. However, darkness and space based attacks harm him way more. He also wields the Uranium Mirror, which wields a 75% of countering an enemy attack.
Thunder: But let's move onto the big thing; his best sword, the Rainbow! ....Wait, it's CALLED RAINBOW? What kind of dumb name is that for a godly weapon?
Metroid: Forged from Rainbow Shell of the Sun Stone, it has 70% chance of dealing critical hits. Along with that, Crono has various sword skills up his sleevs.
Thunder: Yeah, like Cyclone, where he spins around like a top with his sword held out to make people in mincemeat! Or Wind Slash, where he slices up to make a wind blast to strike.
Metroid: With Cleave, Crono leaps into the air and strikes down onto the enemy. And with Frenzy, Crono circles around an enemy while unleashing a barrage of sword strikes at the same time.
Thunder: Crono's magic skills are no joke. The dude can summon Lightning to strike you, and at the cost of a lot of MP, Crono can cast Lightning II, making a huge field of lightning and bright lights spiraling around, attacking all enemies!
Metroid: With Raise, he can revive an ally who had fallen in battle. But his most powerful spell is undoubtably Luminaire, where he conquers a large explosion of light around him, damaging any unfortunate victims near him.
Thunder: And I doubt anyone is gonna get away in time, since Crono can pilot the Epoch, which can circle the Earth in 3 seconds! That ain't no joke!
Metroid: Once, they crossed the earth's circumference in about 2 seconds, which is 40,008 km. If you divide 40,008 by 2 you'll get 20,004. 20,004 km/s equals mach 58218.85913853!
Thunder: Huh. If he can move at Sub-Relativistic Speeds, why did he die to Lavos? That speed should make him incapable of losing to him!
Metroid: Thing is, Lavos is way more powerful than you would think. In the bad ending Lavos destroys the surface world. Via fireball radius, we can determine that each blast of The Rain Of Destruction carries about 40 teratons worth of TNT, and Crono got up from a wave of it at one point. However, The Rain Of Destruction is one huge outburst from Lavos, so let's count how many fireballs he releases to see how much energy he releases with a single wave of it. With about 69--
Thunder: Nice.
Metroid: ....About 69 fireballs spawned. So, multiplying that number by 40, we can get about 2.76 petatons of TNT. Enough to level a continent.
Thunder: And when they revived Crono, they eventually killed Lavos for good, at the cost of the beautiful Epoch...
Metroid: With this, Crono had saved the past, present and future. His execution was lifted, and the world was saved. He even eventually married Marle in the far future.
Thunder: Yeah, the past, present and future, can rest easy knowing Crono saved them from the apocalypse!
Isaac is Adept at DEATH BATTLE![]
Metroid: A long time ago, in the world of Weyard, the ancients discovered the secret of Alchemy. With the knowledge of the world being made of the four elements, they were able to make their wildest dreams come to life.
Thunder: But you know how it goes, people started misusing it and wars happened. In other words it was basically hell on Earth.
Metroid: In order to quell the conflict, the ancients sealed away Alchemy in four Elemenetal Lighthouses, sealing the weapon away for the greater good.
Thunder: Some were able to KEEP their Alchemy, mainly Vale since they were told to keep the secret of Alchemy safe in the Sol Sanctum. That and they were close to Sol Sanctum in the first place.
Metroid: And one of the many residents were none other than Isaac.
BACKGROUND
Age: 17 (GBA Games), 47 (Dark Dawn)
Leader of the Warriors of Vale
Venus Adept
Also known as Robin in Japan
Waited an entire game to finally start speaking
Metroid: When Isaac was just 14 years old, his life would take a tragic storm on the day of a storm. It was so strong that a boulder from Mt. Aleph began falling down to the village.
Thunder: Isaac would've gotten out safely, but one of his friends, Felix, fell into the water and couldn't get outta there. Isaac's dad tried to help, but couldn't reach him.
Metroid: Despite Isaac's best efforts to find help, it was too late. The boulder fell, and his father, and his friend Jenna's family, were taken by it.
Thunder: After that, Isaac and his best bud Garet got their asses handed two mysterious folks. How the hell did they survive...?
Metroid: This led Isaac to learn more of Alchemy and psynergy, becoming a student of the scholar Kraden. Isaac would spend the next three years learning until one fateful day.
Thunder: They visited Sol Sanctum even though the place off limits. They soon saw the things known as the Elemental Stars, but it turns out people were stalking them.
Metroid: It was Saturos and Menardi, the very same people who Isaac was attacked by three years ago. Not only that, but Felix had survived the bolder, and was working with them.
Thunder: So they got bamboozled and were left to die in the erupting Mt. Aleph if it weren't for the all powerful rock saving them being cooked alive
Metroid: It was then the Wise One, the rock god Thunder mentioned, gave Isaac and Garet a task. They would prevent Saturos and Menardi from lighting the Elemental Lighthouses, which would release Alchemy back into the world.
Thunder: While sending a 17 year old kid to do the job, he's surprisingly skilled at battle, especially with his Psynergy powers!
Metroid: Psynergy is the abilites an Adept, a person who uses alchemy, has. It draws from his mind, so it requires his focus, similar to a bender from Avatar using Chi. However Psynergy can be used unintentionally, like when it created barriers that protected Isaac from transmutating spores. It is also invisible to anyone who is not Adept.
Thunder: Isaac's powers are based on Venus Psynergy, so he's more focused on plants, earth, and...giant, exploding swords like his Ragnarok ability!
Metroid: What is more related to earth is Isaac's ability to sense where someone is somehow. He also has Quake psynergys, which causes the ground to rise up from under the opponent's feet. Quake does it once, Earthquake does it twice, and Quake Sphere does it three times.
Thunder: Meanwhile, Spire does something else, it makes a big stalactite drop on ya, likely crushing and stabbing ya! And Clay Spire drops three stalactices on ya for more damage!
Metroid: Isaac also has Cure, which heals wounds. These injuries can be healed even more with Cure Well and Potent Cure.
Thunder: That's not all the banana-haired kid's got! The kid has Djinn, which are psynergy spirits. And the more he has set to him, the more better his stats are, and he even gets new psynergy!"'
Metroid: With 4 to 5 Djinn set to him, Isaac can cast Gaia, where the ground beneath his opponent erupts into energy and rocky debris, with Mother Gaia releasing even more. He also learns to revive people from the brink of death with, well, Revive.
Thunder: And when he has six to seven Djinn set, he loses Ragnarok...and learns Odyssey, where he sends to swords into you and plunging a giant one into ya! This kid like overkill, huh?
Metroid: Djinn aren't just used for stat boosts. They also aid him in battle via special attacks, like how Flint allows Isaac an attack that can cleave stone, or Granite shields Isaac in a aura that boosts his defense. Quartz can even revive an ally who fell in battle.
Thunder: He can use Vine to makes vines that slow a guy down, and Sap makes him steal health like a vampire after attacking! He can deal a strike that can poison a sucker with Bane, or hold you in place with Ground! And with Geode he can-- DID HE JUST TURN THE BACKGROUND INTO A BALL AND THROW IT?!
Metroid: Lastly, Crystal heals Isaac a greater amount that his own healing psynergy does.
Thunder: ARE WE GONNA IGNORE WITH GEODE DOES?!
Metroid: When Isaac uses a Djinn, he loses any stat boosts and psynergy they gave him, but can easily set them back on. But he can also cast summons, such as Venus, which is a Venus Djinn releasing bursts of power. With Ramses, it uses two Djinn on standby to make rocks fall onto the foe before striking them with a rocky fist. And Cybele creates roots that drag the opponent up for a painful drop.
Thunder: Fine, I'll drop what Geode did. Judgement is definitely the best of the bunch though, since it shoots a blast that covers an entire continent before finally engulfing the enemy! ....Wait, how everyone else in Weyard not dead?
Metroid: ...Nintendo Logic?
Thunder: ...Good enough for me.
Metroid: These skills were were more than enough to aid in his quest. However, he failed to keep three of the lighthouses from being lit. However, on the third, Isaac was told the truth.
Thunder: Basically, Alchemy held the world together. When it got sealed away, it kinda caused the world to end really slowly.
Metroid: Realizing he was aiding in destroying the world, and not saving it, Isaac chose to ignore his mission given to him by the Wise One and joined Felix to light the final Lighthouse.
Thunder: While inside it, Isaac got the Sol Blade, which os strongest weapon in Golden Sun's crazy amounts of weapons. And Isaac can sometimes send out GIANT PLASMA BALLS WITH THE MEDIGGO UNLEASH!
Metroid: Isaac and co. fought many enemies, even Dullahan, who is the Guardian of the Iris. All the Guardians of the summons challenge Isaac and co. to fights in order to see of they have the ability to wield the summon's powers. Thus this means he likely scales to Iris.
Thunder: What so impressive about that you ask? Well Iris can TURN INTO A SUN AND GO SUPERNOVA!
Metroid: Iris's starting point was at Weyard; which is assumed to be the same location as Earth. She flies at interstellar distances crossing hundreds of planets. We'll assume the distance she traveled was the distance between Earth to Alpha Centuri, which is about 4.22 Light Years away or 133,173,072 light seconds. To cross that distance in five seconds means Iris would have to be moving 26,634,614.4c, a Massively FTL+ feat. And the Supernova would be worth at least 10^44 Joules. About Large Star Level.
Thunder: HOLY SHIT! No wonder he defeated the Doom Dragon when the Wise One sicced it on him! And...the Doom Dragon was his thought to be dead dad and Felix and Jenna's parents....wow, the Wise One is an asshole.
Metroid: Despite Isaac's troubles across the continent of Angara and beyond, he pushed on through and with the help of Felix, lit the final lighthouse, freeing Alchemy to the world and saving it from destruction. His adventure would go down in history on of the Leaders of the Warriors of Vale, and eventually even had a son named Matthew, who would go on to save the world too.
Thunder: I mean, when you are a guy who straight up tells god himself that you ain't doing the chore he gave you, you are going down in history one way or another!
Isaac: That's enough...I knew what I was doing the moment I raised my sword. We defied the Wise One in order to save the world. Our parents would understand.
Prelude[]
Metroid: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possiblities.
Thunder: IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!!!
Pre-Fight[]
The afternoon sun shined over a grand coliseum. Many in the stands cheered, as this is what everyone was here for: the grand finals.
This would determine who was the best warrior of the year, and two specific warriors had fought tooth and nail to get here.
Crono, the time travelling savior of the world, stepped into the arena. He smiled to the crowd, before turning his head to opposition.
Isaac then came in, approaching Crono with a determined expression, before he softened his expression upon getting about a good distance from each other.
"Let's give this all we got." Isaac spoke, to which Crono nodded, as they drawed their weapons.
It was time for action.
Fight[]
Both of them made their move, clashing their blades briefly, before Crono reeled back and went for a low swing, forcing Isaac to take a more defensive stance, blocking the blows that came towards.
As they got into another clash, Isaac quickly utilized Quake to send Crono upwards. As Isaac got ready, a voice spoke to him.
"Isaac, can I lend a hand?" Flint, his first ever Djinn, spoke. "Alright Flint, get ready." Isaac responded.
When Crono fell in front of him, Isaac used Flint to strike, but Crono reacted in the nick of time, blocking the blow and kicking Isaac back.
Staggering back, Isaac looked up and saw Crono come in with Cleave. Rolling to the side, Isaac held the Sol Blade up, and summons Venus, as Crono was bombarded by bursts of energy.
Although the power was great, Crono pushed through and plunged the Rainbow forth. Isaac quickly used the Djinn Granite, boosting his defense to have to sword send him back insteading of impaling him.
Standing straight, Isaac performed Clay Spire, but Crono had used Cyclone, spinning towards Isaac without realizing he dodged the attack. This forced Isaac to block, in hopes of avoiding the spinning assault.
Crono was quick, as once it stopped, he finally got a stab in, making Isaac grunt from the pain. Thinking fast, Isaac used Vine, slowing Crono down long enough to perform Heal.
Quickly lifting the Sol Blade, Isaac and Crono clashed blades once more, each strike against each other's blades making sparks fly. The crowd in the coliseum stands were cheering the fight on, excited by the intensity of their close fight.
Isaac was now the on the offensive, performing constant swings and swipes that Crono forced away to avoid damage. The time traveller then leaped over the Adept, and attempted his own slash attack...if Isaac didn't block it.
Amongst the swings, Crono casted Lightning, making Isaac yell before being slashed away. Isaac hit the ground, and slowly got up.
"So he's a Jupiter Adept..." Isaac muttered to himself, unaware Crono was not using Psynergy, but Magic. Isaac reeled his sword back, rushing in again to clash blades once more.
Sadly for Isaac, Crono managed to strike with enough force to disarm Isaac, the Sol Blade flying a few away. With his weapon away from him, Isaac ran to retrieve it.
Crono wasn't too keen on letting that happen, with him performing Wind Slash, making a wind projectile strike Isaac in the back. Getting up to a knee, Isaac glanced to see Crono coming closer. But instead of trying to avoid, Isaac casted Gaia.
To anyone watching, and Crono, the ground suddenly ripped up below him. But Crono felt a burning pain before Isaac raised his hands once more, and summoned Ramses.
The moment Ramses showed up, it made a barrage of rocks fall towards Crono. Without backing down, Crono slashed through them, before getting his own fight with Ramses.
Ramses threw a punch, but did not expect Crono to jump onto his hand, then slice through Ramses like it was nothing. Turning around, he saw a stunned Isaac, before the Adept pulled out the Sol Blade from the ground.
"You're the first person I've seen take down a summon. That's impressive..." Isaac said, as he casts Cure Well to heal the stabs. "But I won't back down because of it!" And with that, the two charged with their blades at ready once more.
Isaac went in for a vertical swing, but Crono held his sword horizontally to avoid being struck. With some quick thinking, Isaac used Earthquake to throw Crono off balance once more, followed by hitting with Bane, causing some poison damage.
Chrono slid back, before looking up and seeing Isaac preping up an attack. He prepared to be launched off the ground...but while he was, it wasn't in the way he expected.
A explosive force sent him back, as Isaac had casted Ragnarok, making sword of energy smash to where Crono was. Crono however, managed to land safely. With Isaac rushing in to do Sap, Crono blocked it, then retailiated with a slash of his own.
Being pushed back, Isaac looked up, and his eyes widened upon seeing Crono rushing up, used Granite once more to withstand Crono's Frenzy tech. While it did damage Isaac, the Adept managed to summon Cybele during the assault.
Cybele quickly spat out some seeds, which erupted into giant vines. Crono, however, quickly slashed right through them. Seeing this Isaac began to focus.
"Flint, NOW!" The Djinn would manage to reply with a "You got it, Isaac!", then infused Isaac with his might stone cleaver. Crono, knowing the danger, jumped away to safety. With a relatively safe landing, Crono got ready to cast another spell.
"Alright, it's time to end this." Isaac spoke, getting ready to perform Geode. With the background unpeeling into a giant ball, Isaac threw it at Crono. The explosion engulfed the time traveler...
But suddenly, a huge field of lightning and bright lights spiraling around suddenly came. Isaac grunted, before noticing Crono coming forth.
Isaac preceeded to cast Odyssey, but fate seemed to be against him; the Uranium Mirror managed to reflect the swords back at Isaac!
Isaac yelled in pain, blood flying out of him as he fell to his knees. "W....What did he...?" The noise of another spell being activated was heard. Crono had casted Luminaire, and the explosion of light was coming closer.
"...I won't...give in now..." Isaac weakly spoke as he grabbed the Sol Blade tightly...and swung.
Mediggo came out and clashed with the explosion of light. And a result....
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
(Music Stop)
A huge explosion engulfed the the arena. The crowd was lucky to not have been hit, as they waited for the dust to clear, waiting to see who was left standing.
....It was Crono. The time travelling hero stood tall, lifting his hand in victory. Meanwhile, Isaac laid on the ground, no signs of movement what so ever.
As Crono began to walk away, Isaac suddenly clenched his teeth.
I won't give up now...!
Isaac utilized the Crystal Djinn to heal himself to full health, and slowly stood up. The crowd gasped, as Crono turned around before putting on a glare.
He then run forth to attack, but Isaac swung with enough force to shatter his katana. Shocked, Crono didn't react to Isaac casting Ground, making gravity hold the hero in place.
And with Crono unable to move, Isaac focused on summoning the big guns...
Judgement.
The knight would fire a blast down far the skies, making an ever expanding wave of energy come closer. Crono saw it coming, and tried his hardest to break free of the gravity holding him down.
But alas, it was in vain. Judgement's attack came to the arena, and Crono let out a final scream as his body was incinerated by the attack. When it all cleared...there was nothing of Crono left behind.
The crowd, who SOMEHOW survived, cheered at the sight of the winner, unaware Crono wasn't merely blown out of the arena. With victory in hand, Isaac rose his sword....before collapsing, all his strength exhausted from the battle.
But in the end...he was still alive.
Results[]
Thunder: Hah! Knew Isaac would win! He's got a cooler sword with a better name!
Metroid: Crono definitely had some good advantages. He was a way more skilled fighter, considering he had trained his whole life with the katana, while Isaac spent most of his life without much combat until he was about 14.
Thunder: So that meant Crono had better swordsmanship that the golden haired warrior. Plus that Uranium Mirror reflecting Isaac's attacks could equal Isaac suffering fatal damage when it reflects his own attacks against him!
Metroid: But since it only reflected at least 75% of the time, this meant Crono could not rely on reflecting damage to win. And in the end, Crono was outright esclipsed in nearly every other option.
Thunder: It's an obvious fact that Psynergy in Golden Sun is invisible to anyone who ain't an Adept. Since Crono couldn't see most of Isaac's attacks, he couldn't defend himself properly other than take wild guesses.
Metroid: While Crono did have powerful magic, Isaac has survived similar attacks, such a Storm Ray and Cruel Ruin, which had a bigger attack potency. So Crono's magic would be easily shrugged off by Isaac.
Thunder: Isaac even had ways to make sure Crono would go down. Poisoning him with Bane, making him unable to move with Ground, or straight up just harden himself with Granite to take less damage...even if he would be damaged!
Metroid: Isaac's sheer stats outdid Crono. While Crono is strong enough to damave Lavos, who can unleash 2.76 petatons of TNT, and is capable of piloting the Epoch, which can move relativistic speeds. But Isaac scaling to Dullahan and Iris meant he can deal 10^44 Joules of power and move at Massively Faster Than Light speed. And before you mention Dream Devourer Lavos, Crono Trigger's canon is the one where they destroy the Epoch, thus making it's storyline likely a non-canon scenario.
Thunder: In a nutshell, Crono wouldn't be able to hit him, much less actually HURT him! Even if he got lucky and got a good hit in, Isaac had potions, herbs, healing Psynergy and the Crystal Djinn to heal up, making any progress Crono did just go bye bye in seconds! Plus, the Judgement summon was around Continent level as well, so it was more than enough to seal the deal!
Metroid: Crono was an amazing foe, but Isaac's superior physicality, and variety of Djinn, Psynergy, and devestating summons, meant eventually, Crono would fall for the second, and final time.
Thunder: Crono Triggered his final breath with this one, people!
Metroid: The winner is Isaac.
Isaac (Winner):
+Stronger +Faster +More durable +Better stat boosts and hax via Djinn +Psynergy is invisible, thus has a surprise advantage -Not as skilled of a fighter -Neither as skilled in swordplay -Under certain circumstances, the Uranium Shield would kill him
Crono (Loser):
+More skilled +Better swordsmanship +Uranium Mirror would help immensely -Weaker -Slower -Less Durable -Has no hax or buffs compared to the Djinn -Cannot see the Psynergy, thus would be caught offguard constantly
