The Royal Protector, highly trained to protect the Empress, the sole ruler of Dunwall and literal Empress of the Isles, Corvo Attano has been framed for the assassination of Empress Jessamine Kaldwin, and the kidnapping of her daughter, Emily. Imprisoned for the crime, Corvo is forced to escape Dunwall custody, where he begins a career as an assassin for Lord Admiral Havelock, leader of the Loyalists, who aim to rescue and restore Emily to the throne as the sole heir of the Empress of the Isles, despite the fact that she is far too young to take the throne.
