It's time to get physical! Two Titans with (pretty much) their physical abilities will fight it out, mano y mano. Will the King of Skull Island establish once again why he's king? Or will Cloverfield finally prove his worth?
Interlude[]
Tabashi: Being one of the most iconic monsters in history, it's no surprise that Godzilla has had a lot of enemies.
Angel: And these two are Kaiju that like to use their physical abilities, as opposed to ranged attacks! Well, most of the time, anyway.
Tabashi: King Kong, the 8th Wonder of the World.
Angel: And Cloverfield the Large Scale Aggressor. He's Tabashi and I'm Angel!
Tabashi: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win in a Death Battle!!!
King Kong[]
Tabashi: Skull Island. A peaceful island, isolated from the rest of the world by a gigantic storm system. An island tha-
Angel: That has a bad case of giant monsters!
Tabashi: Um, right. Anyways, Skull Island was full of lots of large dinosaurs, but there were also some human inhabitants there as well.
Angel: The inhabitants probably were stupid, though, since there were not only dinosaurs, but a giant creature they called...Kong.
Tabashi: A giant gorilla that loves the ladies! My kind of Kaiju!
Angel: Anyways, one day, an American film crew managed to capture him, and they took him to New York. But New York is the most densely populated city in America! What on earth were they thinking!?
Tabashi: They weren't. Anyway, Kong climbed up the Empire State Building in an attempt to protect Ann Darrow, an actress given to King Kong as sacrifice. So yeah, let's just say it was pretty damn crazy.
Angel: Kong has lots of abilities that people don't know about, mostly because they assume that Kong is just a giant ape. However, this is not the case, as lots of them are thanks to his sheer size.
Tabashi: While his size has varied in different films, in order to make this a fair fight, we will be putting Kong at his THEORIZED 2020 height, which rests at exactly 330 feet tall.
Angel: Due to his size, Kong has tremendous strength and punching power. Plus, he's actually pretty quick for a giant monster.
Tabashi: Kong can take tons of punishment before going down, and he even possesses an ability that can only be described as "Atomic Breath Resistance."
Angel: Basically, when Godzilla hits Kong with his Atomic Breath, all that really happens is that his fur gets singed.
Tabashi: And if you get bitten by his jaws, it's gonna hurt like hell!
Angel: Yes, real orangutans have a bite force of 385 pounds, so I can only imagine what Kong's is like.
Tabashi: Also, he has some kind of weird electricity conduction powers. He can revive himself by getting struck by lightning, and can attack with the "Shocking Gauntlets of Death," as I call it.
Angel: That's when he shocks someone with his hands or fists. Anyways, Kong is also smart (being, you know, an ape), and has decent strategies.
Tabashi: He has some really impressive feats, too, such as fighting Godzilla hand-to-hand, and winning!
Angel: Well, Big G isn't the only dino Kong has fought. He's beat a T-rex-
Tabashi: 3 V-rexes (which are even bigger by the way) single-handedly (like, really. He only could use one hand, since Ann was in the other).
Angel: And don't forget the giant Allosaurus-like Kaiju, Gorosaurus, who has been rumored to TRUMP Godzilla in sheer physical strength!
Tabashi: He effortlessly climbed to the top of the Empire state building, survived bullet fire, and has been barraged with missiles!
Angel: However, Kong is hardly invincible. He was killed by a few people in planes who knocked him off the Empire State Building.
Tabashi: Well, it should be noted that one incarnation HAS survived the fall.
Angel: True, but it DID put poor Kong into a coma, so it doesn't even really matter, because he can't really do anything while in a coma state.
Tabashi: Too true. However, the only reason they were able to knock him off the building was probably due to the fact that he was trying to protect Ann, and not himself.
Angel: Still, even with his weaknesses, King Kong has proved to be an extremely powerful Kaiju who is virtually unstoppable. This is one ape that you do NOT want to go bananas!
(King Kong beating his chest and roaring)
Cloverfield[]
Tabashi: The year was 2008, just 10 short years after a certain Giant Lizard attacked New York, and 75 years after most versions of the King of Skull Island did so.
Angel: But, just when you thought that there would be some peace and quiet, some submarines had to go down to the depths of the ocean in order to investigate investigate something.
Tabashi: Seriously, what the hell is it with people using submarines? They just end up waking up Kaiju! You'd think they would learn something at least ONCE! Anyways, instead of finding the sunken corpse of the Titanic, some kind of ancient treasure, or even Atlantis (in all of its incarnations), they awakened something huge. Something powerful. They awakened the Kaiju known as Cloverfield.
Angel: Cloverfield stands at 240-300 feet tall on all fours (and 351 feet tall when biped), weighs 5,806.04 metric tons. So he's a lightweight that has multiple arms. Great! He spends his time destroying New York, and tried to eat the Statue of Liberty's head.
Tabashi: It must not have tasted good, because Cloverfield straight-up THREW THE HEAD ALL THE WAY TO MANHATTAN! Damn, he'd fit right in on that one Godzilla-Ultraman-Gundam-Kamen Rider baseball game! Well, amazing throwing skills aside, Cloverfield’s origins are unknown. Sure, the subs may have AWAKENED him, but we don't know where he came from.
Angel: Well, there IS that rumor that since Clover was mentioned (at some point) in Pacific Rim: Uprising, he could've originated from their realm. And possibly during The Cloverfield Paradox, he was brought to the CloverVerse instead of the Anteverse. However, since that has not been confirmed yet, just take it with a grain of salt.
Tabashi: Anyways, Clover's relatives include parasites that are the size of dogs, and they number in at just about 2,000. Both Cloverfield and his parasites have one thing in common... they have toxic bites.
Angel: The venom is so strong, it can kill a monster, as long as they don't have a decent healing factor. Cloverfield also has super thick skin, which is how he survived the intense pressure of the bottom of the ocean. As a bonus, it's fire-resistant!
Tabashi: In addition to that, Cloverfield is invulnerable to military weapons. In fact, in 2008, New York was sacrificed as a war zone in order to SUPPOSEDLY kill the monster. But in The Cloverfield Paradox (which DOES take place after the events of Cloverfield), the monster shown as an adult was confirmed to be the original Cloverfield.
Angel: But since it has not yet been shown what the adult Clover can do, the form does not belong here. Aside from that, though, Clover's got a few major weaknesses. His only combat experience is with the military, and not another Kaiju. Kind of like Shin Godzilla.
Tabashi: Cloverfield also isn't that intelligent (given that he's just a 351-foot tall baby), although what he lacks in smarts he makes up for in tenacity.
Angel: Also, towards the end of his movie, when we thought this destructive monster was dead, he pounces on a group of civilians, looked right at the main character's camera, and literally BIT HIM IN HALF!
Tabashi: Cloverfield is definitely one of the most viciously tenacious Kaiju to have made his way into the world, and I wouldn't dare try to cross his path.
Death Battle![]
Tabashi: All righty then. The combatants are set, so let's end this debate once and for all.
Angel: It's time for a melee Death Battle!
Fight[]
Skull Island
On the sunny shores of Skull Island, the Apex Titan known as King Kong patrols the area, searching for food. Suddenly, a tentacle surfaces, mildly surprising Kong. He grabs the tentacle and pulls, pulling the large octopus that was once Oodako to the surface. Kong inspects Oodako, wanting to eat him, but stops as he notices some giant bite marks on the octopus's body, as well as a few missing tentacles. What could possibly have done this to Oodako? Kong thought to himself. I know he is not nearly as powerful as me, but he can certainly hold his ground against other creatures like that weird caveman-like thing I keep hearing about.
Suddenly, a rustling noise from some giant trees draws Kong's attention. He sniffs the air, and finds an unfamiliar scent. Kong drops Oodako, and walks over to the trees. Upon quietly peaking through the trees, King Kong sees a... uh... well, Kong was not really sure what the heck it was. It had a very light grey skin color (to the point of almost looking white), with small aqua spots on its stomach, giant pink ears, black eyes, and an extremely bony frame. This, of course, was the Large Scale Aggressor known as Cloverfield, and he was feasting on several of Oodako's tentacles, revealing that Clover himself had been Oodako's murderer.
Kong was not happy about this. How dare this thing come to my island and eat my enemies! he thought. I can not allow this thing to kill anymore! With that, Kong roared loudly, scaring Cloverfield. The Large Scale Aggressor immediately turned around and got into a battle stance, with Kong doing the same.
Kong ran at Cloverfield, punching him in the center of his face, stunning Clover. Clover retaliates by slapping King Kong with his long arms multiple times, using his superior range to his advantage. Kong tries to block the blows, but he can not block all of them, and as a result, he ends up with a few scratches. This makes Kong mad, so he charges Cloverfield, shoulder-checking the giant monster out of the water and into the trees. Clover is stunned, but he gets back up (determined not to lose) and grabs Kong, pushing the giant ape backwards.
Well, he tried to, that is, but Kong was too heavy, so Clover failed to even budge Kong. Instead, Clover roared at Kong, getting ready to sink his teeth into Kong's shoulder (which would inject his toxin into Kong). But Kong was getting angry now, so before Clover could bite him and inject the poisonous disease, he socked the Large Scale Aggressor across the jaw. Kong did not stop there, though. He started rapidly punching Cloverfield on the head, then slammed both fists on Clover's cranium, which ended up crushing Clover's brain, ending the big baby once and for all.
King Kong beats his chest and roars triumphantly, but then starts chasing a teenager wearing a Freddy Kreuger hat. Meanwhile, some Skullcrawlers fight over who gets Clover's corpse.
Results[]
Angel: Blech! That's gonna take awhile to rinse off!
Tabashi: This was actually pretty evenly split. Both could generate a little over 20 tons of TNT in Kinetic Energy, had similar feats of fighting off the military, and were great at melee combat.
Angel: Clover did indeed have the superior size and range, as well as the slightest advantage in KE, but that's about the end of his advantages.
Tabashi: Kong was about 4x stronger than Clover, being able to lift the 20,000 metric ton Showa Godzilla while Clover can only lift his own weight of 5,806.04 metric tons. Kong was smarter, too, as he is an adult ape while Cloverfield is just a baby who's easily provoked.
Angel: Clover's only real trump card was his toxin, which actually COULD kill Kong, but he would need to bite Kong in order to do that. And Kong was actually faster, able to run at speeds of up to 557.4mph. That’s faster than Zilla!
Tabashi: And don't even START with the Parasites! The whole reason we didn't include them is because they'd easily overrun Kong and (with Clover's help) bite him enough times that the toxin would kill him. But we went with the fairest scenario, which was Kong vs Clover without his parasites.
Angel: Well, looks like Clover was simply smashed.
Tabashi: The winner is King Kong.
