Boomstick: Just like Chara, Frisk pretty much wields a knife, but not a real knife, it's called a worn dagger
Wiz: Once they fall on the underground, they were raised by toriel just to keep them safe from asgore

Boomstick: Frisk is the last fallen human on the underground, who has a vast array of healing items at their disposal
Wiz: In any types of monsters, frisk is able to tank their attacks even if they were heavy, and if frisk dies, they ended up resurrecting themselves from death
Boomstick: And from their cell phone, The upgraded Cell Phone's features include a key chain, which access to dimensional boxes
Wiz: And Yellow Mode souls are able to fire energy bullets which is based on a DT-Projectile, and Can even defuse bombs with their cell phone
Boomstick: And with hope, they are able to reduce the opponent's damage, even if they were heavy, like asriel
Wiz: And when they die, their soul regenerates, And even draw a thing that comes back to life, such as boats, The power of DETERMINATION Will keep you living, this also allows you to persist
Boomstick: not once, this power is also referred to as a magic in the game, just like humans in the surface
Wiz: The Humans sealed the monsters in the underground which only a human soul can pass
Abilities[]
- CHECK
- RESET
- RELOAD
- SAVE AND LOAD
- FIGHT
- ACT
- ITEM
- MERCY
- FLEX
- HOPE
Boomstick: Frisk has tons of various acts which ends the fight without violence
Wiz: Even with a blow, Frisk can freeze their opponent with a breeze so cold that it instantly erases all of the aforementioned effects
Boomstick: DT Users are Unaffected by normal RESETS, With Flex they can increase their attack and defense with clear mind
Wiz: With Foods, They are able to heal themselves, but this one has limits, if the food run out they can no longer heal, A single human soul is strong as all monsters
Boomstick: Even a Human Soul can exist even after death
Wiz: Their soul can refuse, Dying everytime something deadly happened, and with sea tea, they are able to boost their speed when they drink it
Boomstick: Frisk can even stay conscious at less than hundred billionth of their health, stabbed, pierced, burned to death, electrocuted, and killed many times, frisk will always return
Wiz: even if they took several damage, it won't be able to kill them
Feats[]
- Tanked Damages from Flowey and Asriel
- Killed Everyone in Genocide Route
- Can keep up with monsters
Boomstick: Frisk can even keep up with monsters like Toriel, Asgore, Undyne, Papyrus, Asriel, Flowey and Sans

Boomstick: And just like undyne being able to possess determination
Wiz: Frisk is very intelligent enough to solve multiple puzzles in the ruins, and even when acting differently on monsters
Boomstick: Frisk was still left unconscious after they fell on the world below
Wiz: Even if frisk can slightly kill monsters with just a stick, they grew and grew stronger with their LV, They can even fight for more than a day
Boomstick: and even with a toy knife

Wiz: Frisk is able to recover a little bit when they use bandage on themselves, and the cowboy hat and the empty gun seemed to be matched together from justice
Boomstick: Frisk can even knockout undyne by just using a tough glove
Wiz: There are like 7 human souls in it which is justice, patience, kindness, integrity, bravery, preseverance, and lastly, determination, these human souls helped frisk defeat flowey with ease by giving them a few healing items
Boomstick: The users of the Determination we know is Frisk, Chara, Flowey, Asriel and Undyne, but however, Undyne's DETERMINATION Isn't strong as Frisk, Chara and Asriel/Flowey
Wiz: and your soul turns blue when it comes to sans and papyrus, this also means your soul will be integrity and you'll be able to jump high, and the green soul goes to undyne which is also kindness, that blocks the path from any spear that undyne shoots, and for justice it comes from mettaton, this means justice which shoots an energy based determination
Boomstick: Kris and the Lightners has showned to be possessing Determination in Deltarune, but it's also not strong as undertale's determination despite deltarune works so different
Wiz: Chara appeared to be the player of the game, as it seemed to be the default name of the player at the very beginning, just like what toby fox said about it
Boomstick: Humans have showned to have magic, But bot all, Specially that frisk doesn't use magic
Wiz: The Magic spells that human used is to seal the monsters on the underground, But since frisk has a human soul, they were able to pass through the barrier, just like other humans, even tho frisk doesn't use magic, they are strong enough to kill a powerful monster
Weaknesses[]
- Anyone with stronger DETERMINATION Can disable their RESET
Boomstick: Wait what?!
Wiz: That's right, anyone with a stronger determination are able to disable their RESET
Boomstick: However, Humans are more durable than monsters which is stated in the books, and since frisk is a human, this means they are more durable than monsters
Wiz: The CORE was filled with ozone poison. And frisk was also unaffected by it, and madjick is able to cause dizziness and confusion by talking, but it also unaffects frisk with it
Hey it's me, Chara.

Wiz: Ugh boomstick *Wiz made boomstick spin*

Boomstick: Monika is pretty much a pc glitch unless you uninstall doki doki
Wiz: Monika can also bring people back who's been reduced to nothingness, And she can revive anyone who also died
Boomstick: And monika is a game character of a 19 year old human that is 160 cm tall and described as athletic by the standards of a lazy teenager of her age

Wiz: Monika was able to hold the absolute hegemony over it can can manipulate memories
Wiz: Monika is also known as the President of the Literature Club, In the end you can see sayori and the others dead
Boomstick: Right, Let's check monika's abilities
Powers and Abilities[]
- Spatial Manipulation
- Time Manipulation
- The Script
- Reality-Warping
- Teleportation
- Data Manipulation
- Transmutation
- Perception Manipulation
- Teleportation
- Resurrection
- Sleep Manipulation
- Plot Manipulation
- Existence Erasure
- Non-Corporeal
Wiz: Just Monika deleted the Doki Doki Literature Club game, which has "infinite choices" Which while doing so, she even confirmed that doesn't pass anymore
Boomstick: Monika even has a canon Twitter account and outside sources. she can warp reality so hard she added real life photoshopped eyes onto yuri, and has haxes to appear in the description of the steam game and on the official website
Wiz: Monika literally become a narrator in her game herself, which means she is everywhere, everywhere where you go, you'd be able to see her, even when reality warping the school
Boomstick: she is yet in control of the entire game folder and can delete anything at any time, meaning she could also do it to your file
Wiz: At first, DDLC looks like a normal dating simulation game. Talking to the girls, dating with them... You know, just an average dating sim with the same cliches.
Boomstick: That is, until you see that one of the girls was left on "hanging."
Wiz: well it all started when she was met with mc and she had an observation with this boy and Is willing to kill for this boy
Boomstick: So Monika is basically a yandere, but with 4th wall breaking awareness.
Wiz: Anyway, Sayori was just the first of Monika's victims. She knows that if she wants to have mc for herself, she needs to get rid off the competition... Literally.
Wiz: That's... A pretty accurate description of what Monika actually is & at what she does to the player
Boomstick: well I would say call of duty or halo Wiz: ahem Well that was the case with a guy named mc who was just your advantage guy in real life until he played a game called ddlc when he met 4 cute and adorable girls and one inpartilar was the club president and the powerful one in the group monika and kill oh ho ho she meant it
Wiz: I knew this was coming and it all has to do with Monikas file being deleted
Feats[]
- Killed/deleted the files of all her friends Able to alter the game's script to decide exactly what happens and what doesn't
- Is aware of the fact that she's a character in the game. She's also aware of the fact that the protagonist and the player are separate entities.
- Is still aware when the game is turned off. Is able to delete and add files to the games. Erased the player's save file Able to survive after being deleted Can tell if the player is using Steam or another program, and if the player is recording.
- Able to find the name of the computer's administrator, in an attempt to find the character's real name.
- She can tell if you re-add her character file after she resets the game.
Weaknesses[]
- Unknown
Wiz: Monika has an ability to also erase anything else
Boomstick: Uhh i didn't know monika can also manipulate plot
Wiz: Yeah but her plot manipulation is that she Managed to break out of the script of the game via her knowledge of the Fourth Wall. Although she occasionally follows her programming unwillingly, if briefly
Boomstick: Ok then, Monika Re-created and eventually destroyed the entire game, which is a universe of its own with its own time, And the problem is monika is also attractive to the player
Wiz: she also Repeatedly tried to restore herself after being deleted, which would have worked if her Character File still existed, And the player can't also quit the game because of monika, Monika's been breaking the 4th-wall just to contact with the player
Boomstick: She Can manipulate the script to decide of the events that happen in the game, If you could instantly uninstall the game then monika will be stopped
Wiz: But it's impossible to do that, Remember that you can't also quit the game because of her remember
Boomstick: I know, Also monika's controlled Yuri and Natsuki and Messed up Sayori in a way that made her want to kill herself, with the latter claiming something to be in her head briefly before suiciding
Monika: Please player, Don't Go
Pre Death Battle[]
Wiz: Alright the combatants are set, let's end this debate once in for all
Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!!!!!!!!!!!
Death Battle[]
It all started by Chara slashing the Screen and getting sent to the literature club, however, Frisk overtakes their body again and walks elsewhere, however, they saw a Girl stabbing herself and began to distort, weird, They proceed to walk off and saw a girl has thigh length coral brown hair that she keeps tied up in a high ponytail that is tied back with a large white bow, curled slightly at the ends. Like the other female characters, she has two prominent strands of hair beside her bangs that reach slightly past her chest. Her eyes are emerald green, wears the standard issue female school uniform consisting of a warm gray blazer fully buttoned and untucked, brown sweater vest, white shirt fully buttoned and tucked, red ribbon, dark blue pleated skirt, black thigh-high socks and white uwabaki slippers with pink tips
Hi, It's me, M̵͎̐̀̆̋̅͆̇̃͆̄̾o̶̞̞͚̜̦̫̯͍̭͒̅̌̍̽̍̇͗̔̾̎̀̿̽͝n̴̡̝̳̥̱̖̙͎͈̬̪̆̓̉͂̑ͅi̸̩͕̟̥̿ḱ̵̨̜̩̇́̎͋̌̎͊̎͘͠͝ä̴̧̯̝̲̻̖̮͙̤̜̜̖̲̻́͆͋̅ I'm super excited for you to make friends with everyone and help the Literature Club become a more intimate place for all my members. But I can tell already that you're a sweetheart—will you promise to spend the most time with me? Right now? Monika keeps her scary face appearing and disappearing at the same time
The screen distorts as Monika says her name
- It looks like she's another victim for EXP, Kill her!
FIGHT[]
(Cue UN Owen was Hero)
The fight starts off as Frisk slashing Monika which she dodged, Monika managed to keep her conscience and ability to affect the whole reality as well as distorting the whole school
- This is bad
Frisk ran off as everything is distorting but Monika then managed to catch them off-guard, Frisk pulls out their real Knife and slashes Monika several times and killing her, however, the time resets and Monika is back to her place
"Oh how cute, You managed to kill me, But let's see how you handle me in that way~" The whole school burns out and catching Frisk OFF-Guard, They then grab their empty gun and shoots Monika right straight into the head by DETERMINATION, The screen statics and her head goes back to Normal
She then teleports with her Colorful pen and Stabs Frisk, killing them
❤️
💔
GAME OVER
You cannot give up just yet...
Chara!
Stay DETERMINED!
❤️LOAD - RESET
The Screen rewinds in time and The Fallen Human dashes towards her with a Slash, but Monika grabs their hand, however, They weren't off for this and straights up stabbing Monika in the chest but she teleports off to dodge the attack
"You think your so tough aren't ya?"
Chara then overtakes and Slashes Monika, flashing red 9s on the screen but..Monika managed to undo what Chara just did
- ! What now?
Monika's lighting changed and dashes towards Frisk in Full-Speed and punching them as hard as she could, however, this wasn't done yet, Frisk's body gets overtaken by Chara
The Two Entities battle together in the burning literature club
"Your not the only one in control down here" Chara said as they began laughing all over and managed to cut Monika's arm off and making her scream in pain
Monika slowly walks towards her severed arm and picks it up, reattaching to herself
"How rude" she said Chara then continued and keep up with the slash as monika dodges it and then monika started summoning thunder bolts which chara also dodged and then when chara gets closer to monika, They cuts her in half, and after that monika's upper and lower half disappears and reassembles again
"Okay enough" Monika pulls out a gun and shots Chara but it only hits their locket, Frisk overtakes again and rushes towards Her and attempting to slash her
Monika's eyes sparkled green as she then warps reality and distorting everything, Frisk was so confused at the moment on why everything is getting distorted
- Maybe Destroying the school will stop her
Frisk in DETERMINATION Grabs an Empty Gun and shoots all of the walls and attempting to destroy the school, it succeed destroying the entire school
But it didn't stop Monika as she was behind Frisk just right now
"Oh how rude, The teacher would be mad right now if she sees this"
At the moment Frisk looks behind them, Monika caused Frisk's vision to become all red, distorted and bloody and everything was shaking all over
- Just keep attacking!
Frisk dashes in Full Speed and slashes her but it did nothing
Monika warps reality again and started to script everything, The script of the game ends up going back to a normal school, where Frisk sits right infront of Monika
- ...Kill her already
Frisk gets up on the chair and cuts Monika but before they could do it, she disappears
And then Monika reappears right behind them with a distorting body
Natsuki, Sayori and Yuri appears behind, with dead eyes, now it's going on 4v1
Natsuki dashes forward but Frisk ends up slashing her and disappearing, then yuri appears and attempts to stab them but it missed
Chara overtakes and Slashes Monika, flashing red 9s again and killing her, while gone, Monika speaks out of nowhere where she cannot be seen
"Oh child, you already did that, and now you did it again" A rope appears and wraps it all over chara
The screen started glitching all over and over again
"Show yourself" Chara said with an empty gun in their hand, Monika appears infront of them and quickly shoots her but she dodged it
"Well, You fight well, but i'm about to end this, once in for all now, my darling" Monika then attempts to delete chara but nothing is working
Chara quickly jumps out high and slashes Monika once again but she repaired herself from the severe wound
"Why won't this work?!" Monika yelled as they were unable to delete chara from the existence
After Monika realizes she can't erase Chara, they remember everything when she rewinds time, and their determination isn't a variable, she pastes in a copy of Yuri's knife and tries to just stab the Fallen Child. But every swing is dodged, Chara easily sidestepping like Sans and never breaking their =) expression.
Chara maintains eye contact and mockingly reads out Monika's Check.
"Monika. Attack 15, Defense 15. A child playing God, now realizing they can't slay a demon."
Monika finally lands a hit, cutting Chara's palm as they tried to grab her knife. Chara screeches and coughs out a black liquid in pain, more starts dripping from their eyes as they squeeze shut. . .
-1
. . . but their wound is barely a paper cut thanks to the defense boost of The Locket. Monika goes for another attack but Chara simply grabs her arm this time and stops the knife with ease before ripping the arm off entirely. They open their eyes to finish the Check with their scary face, barely containing their laughter as Monika recoils in pain.
"An Atheist who didn't believe she could be defeated."
Chara swings the Real Knife to slice off Monika's legs and begins pummeling her with their bare hands, the black liquid dribbling down their face and onto Monika's as they laugh maniacally. They keep going until Monika's face resembles theirs but in red as her eyesockets cave in and the blood leaking from where her teeth used to be falls out her broken jaw.
As Chara finally relents and cleans their hands with Monika's bow, she tries to use her commands to do something, ANYTHING, to attack. Too bad Chara notices.
And they hold the Real Knife above Monika's head as they prepare to finish her off.
- "Let us end the ACT and ERASE this pointless game!"*
Chara stabs Monika right in the heart and as she screams, the sound distorts. Doki Doki Literature Club is being erased, with her body as Ground Zero.
The screen fills up with 9s and when they fade, Chara stands in the void holding Monika's bow, dyed red in the blood of an entity which no longer exists.
*Møňīķæ'§ Bøvv +DEF 0
*A memento of a forgettable foe. K.O
Outcome[]
Boomstick: NOOOOOOO NOT MY GIRL AGAIN
Wiz: This is pretty much debatable, Both have equal powers and data users
Boomstick: Monika's lifting strength, speed, and durability are only average human level while her attack potency is universe+, while chara's speed, durability and lifting strength are pretty much unknown
Wiz: Chara's durability is actually wall level, didn't you see they survive spears from undyne and attacks from sans
Boomstick: Wait yeah yeah, anyway monika might be more powerful than chara, Monika's limited control over the game at first is only being capable of slightly affecting beings
Wiz: While chara's only weapon is a knife, The knife can also destroy the entire game that has countless timelines
Boomstick: Chara's also fast enough to stop monika from deleting the world
Wiz: And while monika has a chance of reaching to reset button, Chara's speed would help them kill monika repeatedly, chara's existence erasure can also help
Boomstick: And chara's durability can also help them, while monika's existence erasure might be useful, Chara has that too you know
Wiz: And once that chara starts erasing, Monika will also get erased, You forgot monika doesn't also resist existence erasure
Boomstick: and monika is pretty much haxy, But chara can take care of it anyway
Wiz: Monika might be more stronger but chara's speed will help them
Boomstick: Just monika? Eh, I can say just chara instead
Wiz: The Winner is Chara
Comparison[]
Chara (Winner)
=More intelligence
+Have better durability
+Faster
+Reset and Load will help them
=Doesn't resist deletion
-Best weapon is knife
=Attack Potency
Monika (Loser)
+Deletion will be useful
=More intelligence
-Not durable
-Less Faster
-Doesn't have weapons
+Better hax
=doesn't resist existence erasure
=Attack Potency

Chara vs Monika is a What-If? Death Battle written by ObsidianCrusader, featuring Chara from Undertale, and Monika from Doki Doki Literature Club.
Description[]
Undertale vs Doki Doki Literature Club! Love can be a fickle thing; bringing about either the best of oneself...or burning all else to ash, leaving only dust in the wind. In that regard, these two are not nearly as innocent as they appear. When determination and desire collide, who will be the last one standing? Will Chara write an ending to Monika's sad story? Or will the Fallen Child be brought six feet under?
Interlude[]
Wiz: What if everything around you – your life, your body, your friends, family, pets, even the air you breathe turned out to be little more than a simulation? It's a thought-experiment that's plagued humanity for years with the ever-growing advancement of technology.
Boomstick: Hell, y'could say even you and I aren't real, right Wiz?
Wiz: Well...obviously we're real. Though that's beside the point.
Boomstick: 'Course, you at home wouldn't know that for certain...these two though? They know that all too well, and take full control of it, becoming absolute Gods of their worlds!
Wiz: Chara, the original Fallen Human from Undertale
Boomstick: And Monika! President of the Doki Doki Literature Club. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and abilities to see would win...a Death Battle!
"Chara Takes Control in DEATH BATTLE!"[]
(Cue: "Once Upon A Time")
Wiz: Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: Humans, and Monsters. One day however, war broke out between the two races, and by its end, the humans emerged victorious – sealing the monsters Underground beneath a magical barrier.
Boomstick: Well, it...really wasn't much of a fight, and I kinda doubt it took that long either. The humans are by their very biology FAR and away stronger than any ordinary ol' monster.
Wiz: Indeed. In truth, despite the peace they once shared, humans had gradually began to fear the monsters, as in spite of the sheer power-difference between the two, there was one key weakness that only the monsters could exploit. That being their SOULs, the very essence of their being.
Boomstick: Both monsters and humans had 'em, but the human Souls were far, FAR stronger than what the monsters had. So much so that it'd take an entire civilization of monster Souls just to equal the power of one human Soul!
Wiz: Even so, should a human die, the monsters had the ability to absorb their Soul, gaining significant power in the process, the the point that they COULD stand a chance against them.
Boomstick: And this was the entire reason the humans waged war and caught the monsters by surprise, with not a single human life bein' lost. Monster King Asgore was forced to surrender and take what few monsters remaining underground beneath Mt. Ebott, where they'd remain in a state of indefinite imprisonment for years after the fact.
Wiz: That was, until one day, a human child, fell from above; their fall broken by a patch of golden flowers.
Boomstick: Thus begins their tale…the UNDER-tale! …Heheh, told ya I’d find a way to drop that title in somewhere, Wiz.
Wiz: You did. Unfortunately, it’s not quite time for that yet, as this isn’t the fallen child we see throughout the course of Undertale’s main story – who’d go on to decide the fate of monsterkind. No, this…is Chara.
Boomstick: Ebott must either be covered in enough holes to put swiss-cheese to shame, or this chasm is PARTICULARLY popular, ‘cause quite a few kids have taken the tumble down here over the years, and Chara was the first since the barrier was created.
Wiz: Wounded yet alive, Chara’s cries for help were answered by a meek young monster-child – who would turn out to be none other than King Asgore’s very own son, Asriel Dreemurr.
Boomstick: Oh hey! I remember him!
Wiz: Asriel brought the human home, and rather than being treated with fear or disdain, Asgore and his wife Toriel would show Chara nothing but kindness; taking them into their care and – over time – coming to see them as a second child.
Boomstick: Aw, that’s sweet. Especially when you consider the fact that all a single monster really needed to do to get past the barrier was to absorb a single human Soul, meanin’ these guys were quite literally denying their own freedom JUST for the sake of bein’ merciful!
Wiz: Indeed – Chara and their new sibling Asriel would become thick as thieves, with the pair’s blossoming friendship serving as a beacon of hope to all monsterkind, who had become wracked with despair and dread following the war.
Boomstick: And boy did they do everything together! From wandering the Underground everywhere from Hotland to Waterfall, playin’ games, talkin’ bout their future, admiring the buttercup flowers…studying the buttercup flowers…Noting the poisonous effects, and one time…poisoning…King Asgore with buttercup-laced tea…Uh…Wiz?
Wiz: I know. Chara’s past before falling underground is shrouded in mystery. What kind of person they were, and what they were doing on the mountain to begin with. Asriel himself would note his hesitation and guilt from playing along with Chara’s “plan.”
Boomstick: What we do know however, is that beneath the shy yet friendly young human-child the monsters all looked up to, Chara wasn’t nearly quite as innocent as they seemed; with Asriel claiming Chara climbed the mountain for “an unhappy reason.” Chara hated humanity with a burning passion…and this is what their plan ultimately boiled down to.
Wiz: Confirming the buttercups’ poisonous effects, Chara would ingest a lethal dose of them, rendering themselves terminally and irreparably ill. None other than themselves and Asriel knew the true origins and causes of their subsequent death, but ultimately they would use this to wepaonize what the humans feared about the monsters so long ago – Chara would purposely let Asriel absorb their Soul so that he could pass through the barrier and return Chara’s body to the human-village they once called home.
Boomstick: It’s likely that Asriel himself had no idea Chara had actually intended on possessing his body as soon as her got there, trying to get him to kill every last human in sight! Buuut this backfired hard as Asriel was able to finally resist Chara’s sway, standin’ back and letting the fearful and misguided humans strike him down when they saw him carrying the dead child.
Wiz: While Chara’s exact goals with this plan are left up to interpretation, there’s actually a good chance they had intended to use Asriel’s monster body to absorb seven human-souls – doing so would grant any living creature godlike power! Enough to shatter the barrier itself, and potentially far, FAR more!
Boomstick: But nope! Asriel merely stumbled back to the underground, collapsing in front of his parents, and turning to dust right then and there…in front of everyone. Eesh, sure hope they had some therapists down there. But who needs to talk about your feelin’s when you could just swear a bloody vendetta against the humans that killed your last child! Which is exactly what Asgore would do, swearing to kill and take the souls of any other poor sap who happened to fall down the same way Chara had!
Wiz: Not without some pushback of course, with Toriel growing disillusioned with Asgore's violent decision and abandoning him, bringing it upon herself to protect all humans who would fall to the underground – memories of the children she lost weighing heavy on her heart.
Boomstick: 'Cept...well, while their bodies were definitely dead as doornails, neither Asriel nor Chara ever REALLY died for good, with Asriel being brought back to life in the form of a sadistic fourth-wall breaking flower-thingy, and Chara...biding their time.
Wiz: See, within each human Soul beats the essence of human-traits; i.e. the yellow Soul of Justice, the blue soul of Integrity, green of Kindness, et cetera. While each of them bear the human Soul's innate ability to persist after death, one of which is considerably stronger than all the rest...the red Soul of Determination – the one Soul Asgore could never get ahold of.
Boomstick: It's...a little confusin' to be honest, but look at it as though the Souls themselves represent what trait is strongest in its user, while Determination is that power that allows the Souls to linger around after its body's gone kaput.
Wiz: And with enough Determination, a bearer can reverse the effects of death itself! Essentially going back in time to specific moments of heightened resolve.
Boomstick: Yeah, there's really no ifs and or buts about it; Determination literally allows you to SAVE and LOAD reality itself!
Wiz: Even after the Soul itself is shattered or broken, so long as the bearer maintains that will to live they will ALWAYS come back.
Boomstick: But why say all this in the first place? Chara ain't comin' back as far as I know, and their Soul turned to dust alongside ol' Azzy. Wouldn't Chara have ceased to exist?
Wiz: Well...again, the exact circumstances are up to interpretation, but it's likely that Chara was still present in the Underground in some incorporeal state, merely waiting for another with the Soul of Determination to enter and serve as their vessel. And as luck would have it, this is exactly what would happen.
(Cue: "CORE")
Boomstick: Enter, Frisk! Main character and protagonist of Undertale...and if it's weird that we had to clarify that, don't worry! This game gets preeeetty meta, so...you've been warned.
Wiz: Frisk would venture throughout the underground, being met with decision after decision; choosing to defend themselves against the vengeful monsters...
Wiz: Elect to grant them mercy...
Wiz: Or destroy each and every one of them for little else than a morbid sense of curiosity!
Boomstick: And considering just one human Soul had the combined power of every single monster down there, it was incredibly easy to do – especially with Determination's ability to revive its bearer after death.
Wiz: All the while, Chara would watch over Frisk, learning from them, guiding them in turn. EXP, LOVE, even the in-game statistics. Every single number that creeps upward...those feelings within Frisk's Soul are Chara.
Boomstick: Hell, you could even go the extra mile and say Frisk WAS Chara!
Wiz: Well, while still not entirely true, it wouldn't be a stretch to say Chara bears many of the same abilities, considering Frisk's power does primarily draw from their Soul. And with it, they are capable of bypassing the ordinary physical frailty innate to human children, bearing a very sizeable resistance to the monsters' magical attacks.
Popup: Due to Chara's limited screen-time and the direct ties between them and the player-character, Frisk, this Death Battle will operate under the assumption that Chara scales 1:1 with Frisk in regards to stats.
Boomstick: To that end, it's...actually a little difficult to properly understand the scale of Frisk's power. While monsters such as Undyne who could lift a boulder over her head, and Mettaton who crashed through a fortified metal wall ARE incredibly strong, it's...not really likely Frisk and by extension Chara would scale to those feats exactly, with really the best instance of physical power is from when they survived an oven exploding in their face, or...well, falling into the Underground in the first place!
Wiz: However, many monster-attacks do mirror instances of real-world demonstrations of power, such as direct collisions with and detonations of the Tsundereplane enemy; a monster fashioned after typical passenger planes in reality.
Boomstick: When it comes to magic, Frisk can survive being burned alive, shot, stabbed, having their Soul split in two, being struck by divine lightning, and even having their own sins weaponized 'gainst 'em by everyone's favorite pun-lovin' sexyman!
Wiz: Frisk has dodged lightning, withstood the scorching heat of the Hotlands capable of instantly vaporizing a styrofoam cup, and could hang on to life even from blows that'd otherwise kill them should they be Determined enough.
Boomstick: And they’re no slouch when it comes to weapons either! Even if some of them are a tad bit on the…unusual side, like weaponizing ballet shoes and an ordinary everyday notebook…try to explain that one, why don’tcha?
Wiz: Well, that likely has something to do with the fact that monsters naturally take more damage the more their attacker wants to hurt them. And no weapon demonstrates this better than the Empty Gun.
Boomstick: Make no mistake! Just ‘cause this cowboy-style peashooter doesn’t have bullets doesn’t make it completely useless in a fight. Frisk can use their OWN Determination as ammunition, allowin’ for long-range attacks they wouldn’t normally have access to.
Wiz: While the Burnt Pan and the unmatched defensive capabilities of the Temmie Armor allow them to sustain long, drawn-out battles. Of course, that’s assuming these weapons even come into use, as Frisk primarily uses their wits and agility to survive or deescalate battles.
Boomstick: And their whole gimmick is their ability to Spare or Fight the monsters they face, and if you’re a goody-li’l-two-shoes, sparin’ is just the thing they’ll do! Befriending all the strongest creatures in the underground, turnin’ the other cheek to everyone else that tries to take their soul, and proving the strength of will over the strength of body, even to the point they calm the revived, soulless Asriel Dreemurr and cause the destruction of the barrier, freeing all monsterkind!
Wiz: And while that is perhaps the most likely outcome for the underground, should Frisk choose the exact opposite and kill every living thing they find…that’s where things get interesting, and bring us back to the original fallen child.
Boomstick: With Chara representing Frisk’s “LOVE” or “Level Of ViolencE,” this reaches a fever-pitch when they go on to slay each and every last monster they encounter; to the point that it actually brings Chara back from the dead!
(Cue: “Imminent Death” from DELTARUNE)
Wiz: Chara would easily take control over Frisk’s ability to SAVE and LOAD, noting that the only purpose to their reawakening was raw, unrivaled power.
Boomstick: One teensy eensy bitsy issue; they TECHNICALLY still didn’t have a Soul…but that’s no big deal! After all they had a plump, delectable Human Soul served right in front of ‘em, just oozing with LOVE and EXP, and…whatever else is in…Souls…Actually, Wiz, this world has Human-Soul Flavored cooking-ingredients, what do you think they actually taste like?
Wiz: This really isn’t the time to be losing focus. Chara would take Frisk’s Soul whether they consented or not, and in one fell swoop destroyed everything. Every world, every timeline, every interaction the player had ever made! In a power that transcends Frisk’s own ability to Reset the world! One that transcends even the God of Hyperdeath himself! Chara had become omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient!
Boomstick: While Chara’s not the only person capable of peerin’ across timelines, since Flowey both retains his memories, and Sans the Skeleton is aware of their existence, they ARE the only person capable of existin’ and altering the world BEYOND a True Reset, which is like…Resetting the game squared.
Popup: In Undertale, every time the game is loaded, a new timeline is created while the prior timeline ends. However, the fact that specific characters remember details from past timelines imply they still exist to some extent. This is not true following a True Reset, which equates to Chara and/or the player erasing every existing timeline and starting anew.
Wiz: Chara is by far the most powerful being in all of Undertale, eclipsing even the player’s own ability to escape by entering a new game. There is no escape, there is no fighting Chara, regardless of what the player does, Chara ALWAYS wins.
Boomstick: And…to be perfectly honest, there is no real, satisfyin’ end to this story. Either Chara stays dead and unawakened from the player’s insufficient LOVE, or they’re allowed to wreak havoc on all of existence!
Wiz: Perhaps it’s punishment for treating the world of monsters Chara had come to view as so much more human than humanity itself as nothing more than playthings to be discarded. Chara and Frisk are inexorably linked after all, and while Chara would end up as the true epitome of all the evil wrought upon their world, it’s very likely that even they wouldn’t be completely beyond salvation.
Boomstick: Yeah! I mean…Asriel in his Flowey persona began to lose his grasp on any sense of morality as he lacked the Soul required to feel real, genuine emotion; somethin' that would be rectified whenever he does get a Soul. Chara? Well, the only Soul they ended up gettin’ was yours – one so corrupted with vice and morbid curiosity, that that’s likely all they could really feel at the end.
Wiz: Pure, unrivaled hatred…Though Chara was once heralded as the key to a peaceful future between humans and monsters, they could just as easily become the angel of death, descended from above to release all upon the earth from this mortal coil. Such is the grim ending to this Undertale.
Boomstick: …Snk, sorry, that was just a little bit cheesy, Wiz.
Chara: "I just want this to end...I want to be with you again. Asriel...I love you so much. So please... D I E"
"Monika Knows She's in DEATH BATTLE!"[]
(Cue: "Ohayou Sayori!")
Wiz: It’s autumn of the year 2017, and you’re a dull, socially-awkward, loveless high-school student with no name.
Boomstick: Heheh, I never thought I’d relate so much to a fictional character…well, not the “no name” part at any rate.
Wiz: Idling in the bright yellow glow of the rising sun at the crux of a quaint little suburb, you’re accosted by a lifelong friend of yours, and relenting to your fate, you let her catch up to you – that girl being none other than Sayori.
Boomstick: Sayori – bein’ the bubbly, optimistic, overly-eager friend she is – insists on you joining a new school club and makin’ friends that don’t all max out at 32-bits. Hell! She even goes through the trouble of signing you up to her club FOR you! After all, consent is a distant second priority to impulse~!
Wiz: It’d be more accurate to say she guilt-tripped you into joining, with Sayori being president of the eponymous Literature Club; marking today as the day you sold your soul for a cupcake.
Boomstick: And you join – not out of passion or interest or any of that other frivolous stuff – but because it’s chock-full to the brim with cute, single-ladies! And hey…you’re a lonely teenager, whaddya have to lose?
Wiz: Those members of course including the hyper, ever-optimistic ball of sunshine, Sayori. The reclusive, timid bookworm Yuri. The prickly and difficult-to-get-along-with tsundere Natsuki. And the real topic of today’s analysis…the club-president, and one of the most popular girls in school…Monika.
Boomstick: Aaaand this is when we start talking about how every member of this club is secretly a kickass warrior, adept at fighting to the death?
Wiz: Nnnnno? It’s…really nothing more than an ordinary club in an ordinary Japanese high-school.
Boomstick: Wait, so none of them can even fight? Bah! What’s the point of even talking about this?! At least the Undertale kid had a knife, what can Monika do – play the piano good?!
Wiz: Well…she IS quite adept at the piano–
Boomstick: Piano-skills ain’t fightin’ skills, Wiz!
Wiz: Just be patient my friend. As this world is not nearly as static as it seems…
Boomstick: …What do you–?
Wiz: After all, they have a festival to prepare poems for!
Boomstick: …Yeah, I kinda walked into that one, huh?
Wiz: Oh, easily so. However, the player has plenty of time to prepare for the festival; with the down-time being spent getting to know each of the girls and possibly even forming a romance with their favorite.
Boomstick: Oh, wow, we’re…we’re just gonna drop the second-person perspective that quickly? Well shucks, you scared me, Wiz! It felt so awkward. Anyway, not every club-member is an available candidate for our li’l lovelorn creepy protagonist, and you can take a wild guess which one it is.
Wiz: Of course, Monika was never meant to have the happy ending any of the other girls could achieve; merely serving as the player’s guide and tutor to approaching the story’s poem-writing gameplay.
Boomstick: Though that’s perfectly fine by her! After all, Monika has beautiful friendships with each of the other girls in the club! Such as sharin’ a mutual respect with Natsuki, confiding in Sayori of the pair’s deeper regrets and the latter’s mental illness, and aiding Yuri in reaching a common-ground with her fellow club-members.
Wiz: Indeed, Monika is very much a pillar for the other girls to rely on, and while she herself isn’t perfect, her wisdom and firm grasp on her own emotions makes her wholly reliable and a stalwart friend to each one of them.
Boomstick: A role the player would strive to emulate, growing closer to each of the girls, becomin’ good friends to them in the brief week they were acquainted. Though as time passes, somethin’ starts to feel…off.
Wiz: Sayori, who was starting to grow increasingly distant and downtrodden, begins to rapidly, mentally deteriorate, eventually confessing to a concerned protagonist of her clinical depression; hoping to make others happy with her happy-go-lucky attitude to vicariously help herself. She would confess her feelings to the protagonist, with the latter either reciprocating or promising to always be their closest friend.
Boomstick: Though, this doesn’t quite make her feel any better immediately – she decides to stay home for the upcomin’ festival, choosin’ instead to send her poem to Monika to read out in her place.
Wiz: The day arrives, and brimming with concern for his closest friend, the protagonist rushes to her home upon seeing her grim poem. Gently, he opens the door…And there she–she–she–
She–
She–
She–
She–
She–
Boomstick: …Uh…Huh? Wiz?
Sayori: “Get out of my head Get out of my head Get out of my head GetoutofmyheadGetoutofmyheadGETOUTOFMYHEADGETOUTOFMYHEADGETOUTOFMYHEAD'GETOUTOFMYHEAD GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT G̷͋ͅE̶̜̳͒T̵̪̽ ̵̢̉̕O̶̺̍̑U̵̧͌ͅT̷͓̳̾́ Ĝ̶̦̰̭͕̊̈́́͊̒̃̐̇̆͋̏̈́͗̕ͅE̷̙̯̣̭̯̩͚͎͂̇͆́̍̈̾̏̅͆̈̕̚͘͠͝T̸̝͈͙̖̜̭̖̟̦̟͛̑̿̃̋̽̀͆͝͝ ̶̛̖̅̓́̎̆́̄͋͗O̶̠̺͔͎̦͕͖̹̟͊̒̉́͊U̴͉̱͚͈̳̗̹̚Ț̸͕̹̞̘̮̭̗̝̤͇̭̖̃̎̂͋̑̓̚̕̕͜͠ G̸̞̞̗̩̺͇̲̠̠̫̲̱̩̪͈͋̍́̆̊́̊̂͒̋͂̃̌̔̂̑̇́̋̃̕͝ͅE̵̡̼͚̫̙̲͇̖̺͎̣̲̯̪̲̻̻̞̣̘̥̼̝̥͉̝͚̦͉̣̞̺̪̙̖̜͙̒̐̄̉͂̉͛͋̀̍̇͆͐͆̾̔͆̏͛̔̾͘̚͠͠T̸̢̼͉̺͓͔̥̫͓̝̮͉̪͉͕̮̀̈́̋̎̓̑̌͜͠–̷̧̨͕͍̣͍̱̜͍͖̰̯̬̣̹͈̪̥͎̼̭̺͔̬̰͎͔̬̮̫͉̖̖̥̒̍͂̎̆̆̚͝ͅ”̵̡̧͉͓͖͕͚̩̞̻̦͕̗̩̜̜̀́̈́̒̋̓̈̊̏͂̀̇̋̍͒̿́̐̚
Hello? Why are you making me do this? "–in DEATH BATTLE!"[]
(Cue: "Ohayou ██████!")
Wiz: It’s autumn of the year 2017, and you’re a dull, socially-awkward, loveless high-school student with no name.
Boomstick: Huh? Wha? What just happened?
Wiz: Idling in the bright yellow glow of the rising sun at the crux of a quaint little suburb, you’re accosted by a lifelong friend of yours, and relenting to your fate, you let her catch up to you – that girl being none other than Monika.
Boomstick: Heheheh...You already said that part, Wiz. ...Wait, no. Why are–
Boomstick: JEBUS, GODDAMNED SON OF A SHITWEASEL! Wiz, what the hell is that?!
Wiz: It'd be more accurate to say ––– marking today as the day you sold your soul for a cupcake.
Boomstick: ...Ahhh? Okay, Wiz. I'm gonna need you to be level with me buddy. Are you having a stroke? Blink once for no, and twice for yes.
Wiz: Those members of course including the hyper, ever-optimistic ball of sunshine, Monika.
. The reclusive, timid bookworm Monika.
. The prickly and difficult-to-get-along-with tsundere Monika.
. And the real topic of today’s analysis…the club-president, and one of the most popular girls in school–
Boomstick: WIZ!! ...Ugh, jeez, man. You aren't BLINKING at all! What IS it with you right now?
Wiz: Image not found.
...Um...wait...Boomstick?
Boomstick: Okay, okay, Mama Boomstick taught me a secret, magic technique, passed through generations of the Boomstick family, GUARANTEED to snap you out of whatever this trance is! It's called... "Liver Punch."
Wiz: Wait, no, Boomstick, I think I–
Boomstick: It's where I punch you in the liver.
Wiz: I think my cerebral augmentations may have been compromised in some way; I just need to perform a manual recalibration on my nervous system.
Boomstick: There y'go talking gibberish again! Don't worry, buddy! I GOT YOU!!
BAM!!
Wiz: GAUCK!! [Wiz collapses behind the desk] Boom...st...tick! I...I told you, I...m fine!!
Boomstick: ...Bad news, Wiz. Missed your liver – think that was your spleen. Get up and we'll try it again.
Wiz: D-DON'T!! Urgh... [Wiz pulls himself up, forcibly lowering Boomstick's clenched fist.] Don't...I'm fine. This actually leads us very nicely into our combatants abilities...
Boomstick: Oh...Huh, Mama Boomstick wasn't kiddin'. You're welcome, Wiz!
Wiz: You didn't– Ugh, nevermind...While the Literature Club may seem cutesy and innocuous on the surface, it holds a dark secret...None of it is real.
(Cue: "Just Monika")
Boomstick: And that ain't in one of those tired old "it was all just a dream" cliches or whatever – Doki Doki Literature Club being fiction is ACTUALLY a real plot-point! And only Monika was able to figure that out.
Wiz: Before the player even makes their first save-file, Monika had experienced an epiphany, revealing the true state of her existance – and it broke her. Rather than seeing the other club-members as her friends and equals, they had become little more than number-strings and lines of code. Fictional characters; common anime-tropes plastered on the bodies of the girls she was once so fond of.
Boomstick: And when you show up, well...you're DIFFERENT from the likes of Yuri, Natsuki, and Sayori. You're a REAL person, with real agency. At the press of a button, you could delete this world, you could pick which girl you help for the festival, you can pick who you wanted to be romantically-involved with. You're real, and Monika desired that reality. To a borderline obsessive degree!
Wiz: There's nothing "borderline" about it. Monika holds no innate love for the player, but simply wanted something – anything she could cling onto to feel as though she herself mattered. The biggest problem she faced however, is that unlike her fellow club-members she wasn't a romance-option. She would be forced to simply sit back and watch from afar as one of her friends receieved what she so longed for.
Boomstick: That would be, if not for a certain other ability she unlocked upon that epiphany. The ability to TEAR her world apart bit-by-bit! ...Heh, or should I say "byte-by-byte?"
Wiz: Snrk...Sh-Shut up...
Boomstick: I see a smiiiile!!
"Wiz:" I said shut up and get on with the analysis, Mr. 'Boomstick'
Boomstick: Whoa, whoa, okay, jeez; you don't like to be teased. I can take a hint y'know.
Wiz: [Shakes his head, snapping out of another trance] Uh...huh? Oh...Y-yes, Monika can directly affect the code of her game, extending from making and deleting save-files, deleting other characters from existence, disabling the game's script forcing characters into indefinite immobility, and even directly altering the individual attributes of others!
Boomstick: And not just attributes like your standard coding faire such as sprite-size or stats like strength, speed, et cetera – no, she directly altered Sayori's "depression" stat, and Yuri's "obsessive tendencies."
Wiz: Granted, Monika will freely admit that as far as coding and programming is concerned, she is hardly an expert at it, Even still, there's no denying the sheer control she holds over this world – even to the point of taking priority over the player when it comes to loading save-files; even as far as to prevent their ability to do so.
Boomstick: Hell, for someone with not much knowledge on the subject, she was more than capable of completely destroying the world outside the classroom, leaving nothing but the vacuum of space as soon as she had nothin' left to lose!
Wiz: However, even with this boundless power Monika had obtained, there was still no running from what she was – simply another character in a video game like the girls she had erased from existence. And when the player realizes they could simply use this fact against her, Monika is powerless to prevent it.
Boomstick: Heh, ouch! Talk about a low blow. Even with that; even with Monika's own character-file being deleted and her body ceasing to exist, that still didn't mean she was gone!
(Cue: "I Still Love You")
Wiz: Indeed. While life could doubtless never return to the way it once was with long chats in the school hallways or the reciting of carefully-crafted poems, Monika still remained in the world in some abstract form. And it would only be after her deletion that she could take the time to stop and reflect on the absolute monster she had become...This entire time she was pining for the mutual love of the player to the point she destroyed the world they wanted to be a part of.
Boomstick: Rather than the upbeat, cutesy story of the Literature Club conquering the Culutural Festival with flair, all it ended up being was...well...Just Monika!
Wiz: And so...in one final act of repentance, Monika would atone for what she had done; recreating the world, restoring the character-files of everyone in the club, and simply telling the player to forget about her.
Popup: In the normal ending of Doki Doki Literature Club, after Monika is deleted and the world is restored, Monika is still shown to be capable of altering her reality and deleting other characters such as Sayori, despite her own character-file no longer existing.
Boomstick: Well that's...surprisingly bittersweet.
Wiz: Definitely. Even so, should the player revisit old saves and befriend each of the girls across multiple different timelines, Sayori – who would become president in Monika's absence – will thank the player for their efforts, with Monika solemnly serenading the player with a song she wrote specifically for them.
Boomstick: Well that explains everything about Monika, but...what about you, Wiz?
Wiz: That's easy, Boomstick. See, with how my cybernetic enhancements alter my brain and body, I too have numbers and variables that can be altered...in-fact, you could say that...I just couldn't sit still.
Boomstick: Uhhh...
Monika?: Please don't make me go in there. Please! I don't want to fight! Just leave us be!! I don't want to be deleted again!!
Boomstick: ...You know what? I don't get paid enough to put up with anymore fourth-wall breaking nonsense than I already have. LIVER PUNCH!
BAM!!
Wiz: AGGHHH!! I...I...wait...what? That didn't...actually work, did it?
Boomstick: Mama Boomstick never lies, Wiz. Mama Boomstick never lies.
M ?゚??oM??: "For the time it lasted, I want to thank you. For making all of my dreams come true. For being a friend to all of the club-members. And most of all...thank you for being a part of my Literature Club!"
Intermission / Pre-Fight Poll[]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities. Feel free to vote for who you believe will win in the poll provided: https://strawpoll.com/B2ZBEPl2AgJ
Boomstick: But now! IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLE!!
Battle[]
(Cue: "Dreams of Love and Literature")
Today of all days...why did it have to be today?
Maybe it was from lack of sleep? Or maybe I really was just THAT stressed about today's festival, that my body would shut down in the middle of my last class like that. Even Sayori made it to school earlier than I did...that's how I knew today would just be one of those days. Even worse, I didn't even remember to bring my poems with me today. Natsuki's sure to give me one of her trademark lectures, but I should at least have the common-decency to make sure what I'm reciting will be...well, tolerable.
I didn't even have any of the girls in mind as I wrote it; really, I just let my own hand guide me. ...My own head guide me? It's closer to as if it had a mind of its own. Like I wasn't the one writing them, but...it was weird. All the while, this voice in the back of my head told me something was horribly, horribly wrong. But after all we've been through, how could I leave the club to try NOW of all times? Especially over a simple gut-feeling.
Before I knew it, I was already marching up those stairs to the third-year's part of the building; poem tucked neatly beside my breast. All things considered, it came out better than I had expected. The name was...unorthodox, but somehow, it just felt right.
"Rewriting Reality"
...Very...abstract, if I had to describe it in the simplest terms. Now that I think of it, it feels almost like something Monika would write. Though there wasn't any more time to workshop it. Cautiously, I approached the classroom-door, a feeling of dread welling up within the pit of my stomach. I should have listened to my anxieties. I should have just stayed outside...would I have even stayed safe there? All this time, I was being watched by a being beyond my comprehension...alien yet familiar all at once.
I wrap my fingers around the doorknob, and step foot inside for what I would not yet realize, was for the last time...
(Cue: "Okay, Everyone!")
The smell of freshly-baked cupcakes is the first thing I notice as I enter the classroom. Looking around the room, my eyes are drawn to colorful, yet tastefully-designed paper banners lining the walls...no doubt Yuri's work. Everyone's worked so hard to prove the worth of our club's efforts, and though I've only been a member for about a week, the sight still makes me wish I had tried just as hard as each of the girls had.
...Wait...that's right. The girls! Only then did my mind come to the realization that the room was completely empty. Maybe I showed up early after all? ...No, no, that can't be right. I could have sworn I heard voices from the hallway. And besides, even if I can't see anyone, I certainly didn't feel alone.
As if on-cue, the door creaks open. "H...Hello? [̵͓̾P̸͑ͅL̴͙̅Ä̵̰́Y̸͉͑E̴̟͗R̶̠̄N̶̛̬À̸̗M̷̤̊E̸̥͝]̶̞̒
? Is that y–"
"HELLOOOOOOO~!" Shouts the oh-so familiar voice of Sayori, cutting off Yuri as she bursts through the door ahead of her. "You're here! You're here! See, I KNEW you'd come~!"
I sigh. "It almost sounds like you expected me to just go home."
"No!!" Sayori yelps. "...Well...Natsuki was worried that might have happened with you taking so long and all. Heehee, but which one of us ended up being right after all, [̵͓̾P̸͑ͅL̴͙̅Ä̵̰́Y̸͉͑E̴̟͗R̶̠̄N̶̛̬À̸̗M̷̤̊E̸̥͝]̶̞̒
?
"He might as well have!" Natsuki shouts from behind the two. "I mean, really! Do you even bring anything for the festival, or were you just going to stand there and gawk?"
"Heh...Speak of the devil..." Yuri mutters, stepping aside so Natsuki may enter the room. She frowns however. "Where's Monika? Didn't you step out to speak with her?"
"Monika? I dunno, I thought she was with you two." Natsuki crosses her arms. "She seemed a little distressed though...almost as if she–" Natsuki stops, her gaze shifting toward me. "Oh, there you are."
"Oh, don't worry about me Yuri, me and...him...were just going over the plans for the festival!" A voice calls out from behind me. I twirl around on the spot, looking the club-president in the eyes, my own filled with bewilderment. Was she in here after all? As if sensing my confusion, Monika smiles warmly. "Aww, I didn't mean to scare you. Sorry about that...um...S-Silly!"
'Silly?' A nickname I've never received before to be cetain. Even still, with as calm as she tried to seem, I could pretty easily understand where Natsuki was coming from. Monika looked...anxious. Of course, I suppose we're all a bit anxious with the festival today, but coming from her? Our confident, ever-reliable club-president? It was enough to catch me off-guard. She frowns, opening her mouth as if to speak.
"Mmm! Ooh, these cupcakes are so good, Natsuki!" Sayori yells with a full mouth.
"What the–HEY!!"
(Cue: "Poem Panic!")
Natsuki snatches the tray away from the desk. "Don't eat the cupcakes! They're for the festival, you dolt!!"
"Huh?! But I thought you said I could take some!" Sayori responds.
"I said DON'T take any! D-O-N-apostrophe-T, DON'T!!"
Monika sighs, speaking in a defeated tone of voice. "Okay, I...guess we can talk in a moment..."
"Oh..." Sayori looks down at her half-eaten cupcake; crumbs covering her chin and cheeks. "...So do you want me to...put this back? Or..."
"I...You! ...Don't you...UGGHHH!! Fine, okay! You can have one! But no more until the festival starts!" Natsuki pouts. Sayori's face lights up in joy.
"Oh...well thank you Natsuki." Yuri mutters, plucking a cupcake off the tray from behind. "I'll take one as well~!"
"Wh-Wh-Wh-WHA–?! WAIT!"
I approach and steal a cupcake as well. "Hey, you did say we could each have one cupcake."
"Not ALL of you!! ARGH! Look what you did, Sayori!" Natsuki spins around, just in time to catch Sayori leaning in for another cupcake. The latter leans back, trying to play it cool and whistling...rather poorly.
"Mm...Yeah, I should probably take one for Monika too...Can you...?"
...Defeated, Natsuki silently takes a fourth cupcake from the tray and hands it to me.
"Thank you." I say, walking back to the window-side of the classroom and sitting beside Monika. I place the cupcake on her desk, with her only noticing me as I do so.
"...Are they done?" Monika asks. "I have to talk to you about something important. ...Well...it's more like I need to warn you about something."

Trivia[]
- The connections between these two characters are that they are both initially-unassuming background-characters in bright and vibrant worlds, whose innocence bely their true, ulterior motives. Both are motivated "love" in differing ways, with Chara being driven by their "Level Of ViolencE" and a hatred toward humanity, while Monika is driven by an obsessive love for the player, due to seeing them as the only "real" thing in her life. Both have achieved a mastery and control over their worlds, to the point of being able to manipulate the very code of the games they inhabit, while also being capable of wresting control over the player's save file and by extension their own control of the game.
- The soundtrack for this battle would be called "Rewriting Reality," both referencing their shared ability to alter and distort their worlds beyond recognition, and the Literature Club Monika is president of. This is also a slight reference to "Your Reality," a song sung by Monika at the end of Doki Doki Literature Club.
- The cover depicts a glitchy, distorted Undertale SOUL, dripping white with Determination. Surrounding the heart-like SOUL, several other hearts are scribbled around, drawn in pencil. Yellow flower petals float down, a few of which even covering parts of the song-title.
