History[]
Like many other clone troopers, CT-7567 was bred from the DNA of Jango Fett and trained from birth to serve the Republic. After his training, Rex fought in the Clone Wars against the Separatists as a clone captain, nicknaming himself "Rex". During the war, Rex commanded the 501st Legion alongside Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, earning his division a high reputation. Near the end of the war, one of his men executed a Jedi, which was, unbeknowst to them, Clone Protocol 66.
Another trooper nicknamed Fives discovered the existence of the chips, but was killed before Rex or anyone else could learn the truth about the chips. Ultimately, Rex failed to remove his inhibitor chip prior to Order 66 being given. Following a brief skirmish, he was subdued by Ahsoka Tano, who was able to sedate Rex long enough to have his inhibitor chip surgically removed. Following the end of the Clone Wars, Rex encountered a group of defective clones known as The Bad Batch, and encouraged them to remove their inhibitor chips as well.
Nearly two decades later, Rex would join the Alliance to Restore the Republic in their battle against the Galactic Empire. However, due to the accelerated aging attributed to the creation of all Clone Troopers, Rex was now effectively an old man. Despite this, however, Rex, alongside Wolffe and Gregor, who also had their inhibitor chips removed, joined the effort against the Empire. Aiding a pair of surviving Jedi, Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger, and later Ahsoka, as they fought to liberate the Empire from the Lothal system. Some time later, he was part of the Battle of Endor serving for the rebels.
