Description[]
Akame ga Kill vs. Fate. Generals with the power of lightning at hand.
Introduction[]
Wiz: It's fairly well-known that figures of great military position command a great deal of respect.
Boomstick: And you'd better give them that respect, especially if they can command lightning as well.
Wiz: Like Budo, the Great General of the Empire.
Boomstick: And Iskandar, the riding King of Conquerors. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.
Budo[]
Wiz: The Empire, a sprawling kingdom rife with corruption of all sorts.
Boomstick: Story as old as time. And if you're wondering why the proletarian masses didn't just rise up and overthrow them, well we've kind of already explained that they have a lot of powerhouses on their side to stop that from happening.
Wiz: We've covered the most infamous of them all, Esdeath, twice already, as well as several of her lackeys. But there was another figure of might amongst the Empire; the Great General Budo.
- Background
- Age: 40s
- Height: 6’3
- General of the Empire
- AKA Great General, Lightning Geezer, Uncle Budo
- Head of the Imperial Guard
Boomstick: When you have the rank of Great General, you know that this guy is a big deal in the army.
Wiz: Budo was in fact the latest in a long line of a family who served the Empire with their strength, and Budo was determined to do the same.
Boomstick: So much so that he decided to sit on his hands whilst the whole foundation went to Hell. Wait, that doesn't sound right.
Wiz: It wasn't his plan to do nothing. His responsibility first and foremost was to protect the Empire from outside threats like the Revolutionary Army, not internal ones like the source of the corruption himself, Prime Minister Honest. It was as soon as the rebellion was crushed that he'd do the same to Honest.
Boomstick:...well that's just silly.
Wiz: Yeah, I'm not saying it was a good plan but it was Budo's and nothing was going to deter him from doing his imperial duty.
Boomstick: Well, you couldn't exactly stop him. He's the head of the Imperial Guard and the Great General for a damn good reason.
Wiz: He's an incredibly adept hand-to-hand fighter and very quick on his feet in spite of his massive frame.
Boomstick: And because of this prowess of his, he can make excellent use of his Imperial Arms. Or Teigu if you want to go with the original wording.
Wiz: Budo's are a pair of gauntlets titled Adramelech.
Boomstick: I remember it by thinking 'a drum an lick'.
Wiz: Well, if that works if you.
Boomstick: It does, just like A Drum An Lick works for Budo. Which makes sense considering how Imperial Arms can imprint on their eventual users.
- Adramelech
- Gauntlet Imperial Arms
- Generates lightning
- Fires lightning orbs
- Powerful strikes
- Levitation
- Storm generation
- Techniques
- Lightning Crash
- Advent of Thunder Emperor
- Trump Card: Solid Shooter
Wiz: Adramelech is an absolute powerhouse of an Imperial Arm. Taking the form of two gauntlets, both of which are equipped with metal extensions that when collided together generate a massive amount of electrical energy for Budo to weaponized.
Boomstick: Based on what we've seen though, I'd say he doesn't always need to fist-bump himself for this. As long as his electro-gloves strike something solid, they're capable of generating a blast of lightning.
Wiz: A single punch from Adramelech is capable of knocking anyone out in a single punch, overloading their muscles and mind functions with the overwhelming electricity. It's even potent enough to get through the defenses of the Demonic Armor Incursio. When he does charge it up the simple way, he can fire it back out as an orb of electricity.
Boomstick: It can even let Budo hover in the air. Good thing for him because there's nothing more he likes than to chase down those who have royally ticked him off to try and reduce them to dust.
Wiz: To this end, he can employ a small number of techniques.
Boomstick: His Lighting Crash summons down bolts of lightning to strike his opponents, like all good lightning does, and the Advent of Thunder Emperor does the same thing with pillars of lightning that can burrow straight down into the ground.
Wiz: And if Budo finds himself really royally ticked off, he pulls out his Trump Card.
Boomstick: A beam of channeled electrical energy known as Solid Shooter, which you would not want to get caught in.
Popup: In the anime, the beam is simply a large electrical orb, though it still serves the same purpose.
Wiz: Especially since that every other mentioned technique draws in a small thunderstorm as a result, but Solid Shooter does so as a means to an end.
Boomstick: Hmm, I've got to wonder, maybe all that electricity is why Budo's hair looks like that? I mean, it would otherwise require a lot of hair gel and the kind that get's super hard as well.
Wiz: Such a thing is one of the main interactive features of a science museum, so you might have a point there. Anyway, with Budo leading the palace guard, it made taking down the Empire all that much harder.
- Feats
- Acknowledged by Esdeath
- Generated a 5 megaton storm
- Intercepted an attack from Akame and landed a punch on her
- Survived being blasted through a wall
- Caused Mine’s Imperial Arms to be destroyed
- Defeated Syura, Wave, Tatsumi
Boomstick: He's taken on up to three different Night Raid assassins at once and proved to be a challenge for the entire remaining company of them, thanks to the lightning storms he constantly called on.
Wiz: The same lightning storms which fired the same bolts that Akame and Esdeath dodged.
Boomstick: That's right; the OG Akame ga Kill! speed feat was caused by Budo himself. And to dodge that bolt of lightning, Akame had to move at Mach 800+ (Lina Shields).
Wiz: And Budo himself was able to keep up with both her and another assassin at the exact same time. Budo's might is so great and terrible that it has even earned the respect of General Esdeath, who is herself the strongest general of the Empire.
Popup: In spite of his title as Great General implying he ranks higher than Esdeath, it's never been stated or shown that Budo's power rivals that of hers.
Boomstick: He's sent the resilient Wave flying, knocked out Tatsumi with a single strike, struck down a fast-moving Air Manta and paralyzed Leone with his lightning mid-fight. It's no wonder that Mine had to pull out all the stops.
Wiz: To give you context on that, Mine's Imperial Arm, the oddly named Pumpkin, grows in power the bigger the danger it's master is in. In order to prevail against Budo's Solid Shooter, Pumpkin had to push itself to its absolute limits in order to strike down Budo.
Boomstick: Helping Mine in that endeavor was that Budo's Adramelech can only go on for so long before it hits a limit, fizzling out like a faulty light-bulb, and getting Budo killed.
Wiz: It does say a lot however that it was only with Budo's demise did the mission of bringing down the Empire become that much easier.
Rider/Iskandar[]
Wiz: Young Waver Velvet didn't have much, and one of the things he didn't have was the ability to do magic.
Boomstick: He practically had none of it at all. Guess that made his time at magic school a little bit different than Harry Potter's.
Wiz: Tired of being put down by both his peers and his teacher, Waver stole an artefact belonging to said teacher in order to enter the Holy Grail War, a supernatural contest between resurrected figures of legend to obtain the wish granting Holy Grail, in order to prove his worth.
Boomstick: That artefact may have looked like nothing more than a scrap of cloth, but it was in fact a remnant of the great conqueror himself, Alexander the Great.
Wiz: Though the Servant that Waver summoned wasn't exactly Alexander the Great; it was his much older aspect, Iskandar, the King of Conquerors, of the Rider Class.
- Background
- Height: 6’11
- Summoned for the 4th Holy Grail War
- Servant of Waver Velvet
- Adult aspect of Alexander the Great
- Drinking buddies with Gilgamesh
Boomstick: Wait, aspect?
Wiz: 'Another version' basically.
Popup: Specifically, Zeus Funder, a Noble Phantasm that is the embodiment of his belief he is a son of Zeus, is the reason why Iskandar obtained his adult body.
Boomstick: Gotcha. And hey, Waver got exactly what he wanted; a Servant to fight on his behalf, but at the same time, he got so much more.
Wiz: Not content to just follow orders like an obedient Heroic Spirit, Iskander become more of a mentor towards young Waver than Waver's actual educator ever was.
Boomstick: He was to Waver what Kamina was to Simon; a real bro and good friend. Oh, and a powerful one at that as well, because as we all know, Servants are freaking powerhouses.
Wiz: Iskandar possess strength, speed and durability far beyond the norm and his class and personal identity give him several more unique skills.
- Powers and Abilities
- Superhuman strength, speed and durability
- Supernatural luck
- Magic Resistance
- Riding
- Charisma
- Divinity
- Military Tactics
Boomstick: Whilst his Magic Resistance isn't that potent, lower class spells have absolutely no affect on him, with only more complex spells able to effect him.
Wiz: The Charisma skill is an indicator of just how much supernatural social influence he is able to exert over others, just like how his red eyes are a sign of his Divinity, which originate from the legends he was in fact a son of Zeus. It's a bit complicated but basically it means he is able to bypass means of defenses that originate from divine means.
Boomstick: And as a grown-up Alexander the Great, it makes sense that he'd have a skill that reflects that. Military Tactics gives Iskandar a super-strategic mind, enabling him to develop strategies against Anti-Army and Anti-Fortress Noble Phantasms.
Wiz: And befitting his class as a Rider, Iskandar is capable of riding just about any mount, be it a simple modern vehicle or anything from the realm of the Divine.
Boomstick: Just like his Noble Phantasm, the Gordius Wheel.
- Arsenal
- Gordius Wheel
- Giant chariot
- Summons lightning
- Rides through the air
- Summoned with sword
- Distinct Trampling Domination
- Ionioi Hetairoi
- Reality Marble
- Contains massive army
- Gordius Wheel
Wiz: A chariot and a pair of bulls that are said to be manifestations of Zeus himself, Iskandar can ride it through the air as easily he would over land.
Boomstick: He can summon it with a swipe of his sword and the lightning that accompanies it isn't for show. Whenever he charges forwards with the Wheel, it engulfs itself in lightning for added collision damage.
Wiz: There's even a distinct version of this technique known as Distinct Trampling Domination. With each step the bulls take, a lightning bolt is rained down as an effect. Without the strength to withstand the immediate impact, the target risks taking even more damage.
Boomstick: What more damage could be inflicted more than by electrified bulls?
Wiz: Well, very few things, but there's actually another Noble Phantasm Iskander possesses that's a rank higher.
Boomstick: The main name of it is damn near impossible to pronounce so we'll just call it by it's title, the Army of the King.
Wiz: This Noble Phantasm sees Iskandar construct a Reality Marble, a magically generated desert world filled with hundreds upon thousands of the soldiers that served him in life. As a matter of fact, they are the entire reason it works. You see, Servants are not usually capable of generating a reality Marble. Only Magus are able to pull this off, but Iskandar is able to create his via each one of his soldiers burdening a small part of the energy needed for the Reality Marble.
Boomstick: Now that's a power of friendship right there! Suck it ponies.
Wiz: Even with Iskandar's devil-may-care and boisterous attitude, these weapons and abilities reminded other servants that he was not someone to be underestimated.
- Feats
- Few to earn Gilgamesh’s respect
- Powered through a barrage from the Gates of Babylon
- Harmed Lancelot
- Matched Saber's blast with the Gordius Wheel
- Saw Berserker’s maneuvers
- Defeated Lancer, Berserker, Assassin
Boomstick: He defeated the Assassin servant so thoroughly that in the visual novel, the resulting carnage couldn't even be described. The Gordius Wheel was able to let Iskandar send the Berserker Lancelot flying with a single strike, and he's as strong as the mountain-splitting Berserker Heracles.
Wiz: Iskandar was also able to keep track of Lancelot's movements, who moved so fast to catch and counterattack with a sword fired from Gilgamesh's Gates of Babylon that even the surrounding Magus couldn't keep up with what he had done. And speaking of Gilgamesh, Iskandar's clashes with him ended up earning the respect of the King of Heroes.
Boomstick: And as we've said before, Gil has one super-ego. You could count the number of people Gilgamesh respects on one hand, and one of those places is reserved for Iskandar himself.
Wiz: One of those other spots is held by Iskandar's own master Waver Velvet, who, through Iskandar's guidance, shed his wimpy identity and took new life as a man determined to make his way in the world with what we could.
Boomstick: Sadly, Iskandar couldn't stick around long enough to see Waver's accomplishments. Like Kamina, he bit the dust, soon after losing both his Noble Phantasms. The Wheel to Artoria in a match between their most powerful attacks and the other to Gilgamesh when he pulled out the ultimate Noble Phantasm. But he went out swinging against the strongest Servant in the Fate-verse with absolutely no fear in his eyes.
Wiz: For more can we say from say from someone titled the King of Conquerors?
Interlude[]
Wiz: Alright the combatants are set and we've run the data through all possibilities.
Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!
The Battle[]
Setting: Imperial castle courtyard
A small bip of lighting occurred in the middle of the courtyard, before getting succeeded by a much large bolt that singed the ground, revealing the standing Iskandar and the sitting Waver, who was both stunned and frustrated.
Waver: Rider you dolt! Where have you brought us?
Iskandar: A place where I sense the opportunity for a great fight!
A pair of gates leading into the courtyard where suddenly blown open and Budo strode out.
Budo: If you dare enter the Imperial Castle on your own whims, then there will be nothing but a fight!
Iskandar: Excellent!
Waver: Oh no...
The Servant's Master quickly scurried off to a spot out of the approaching battle's way as Budo removed his cape and Iskandar drew his sword.
FIGHT!
The Great General stepped forwards, pulling back his fist, ominously quoting his weapon's title;
Budo: Thunder God's Rage; Adramelech!
He swung out the gauntlet-equipped fist and it collided head-on with Iskandar, producing a powerful electrical explosion. But when the gleam had died away, it revealed Iskandar had blocked the attack with the flat of his sword. Budo's eyebrows raised in surprise before Iskandar twisted his sword to the side so that he could deliver a kick to Budo's chest, pushing him backwards a slight. Budo was then set upon by Iskandar with wide swings of his sword, which he neatly leaned backed from and sidestepped. When Iskandar increased the intensity and speed of his swings in a rapid barrage, Budo countered each attack with his armored forearms serving as defenses.
Budo: You...don't know who you're dealing with!
He parried Iskandar's next attack, a stab, with a swing of his arm and clenched the other arm's hand into a fist, swinging it out and this time getting a direct hit on the servant's face, sending him flying back into a pillar, cracking the entire unit.
Iskandar: Oof...that was a hard one!
Waver: Rider!
The boy poked his head out from behind another pillar.
Waver: Get your head in the game!
Iskandar: Don't worry Master Velvet; I am in full control of this whole situation.
Budo growled as his opponent continued to treat their battle like a game and he extended both his arms out before himself. A orb of electricity charged up between his hands and with a grunt he fired it out at Iskandar, who stood ready with his sword. With a yell, he chopped it downwards directly onto the orb, resulting in a massive explosion that left a smoking crater where Iskandar had been a moment ago. Now, the Servant had lunged himself forward at the moment he had struck the orb, swinging a slash down at Budo, who crossed his arms in front of his face to protect himself. As Iskandar's strike forced him to lower his crossed arms, this brought both their eyelines together.
Budo: I don't know who you think you are, but I am the Great General of the illustrious Empire! And it is my duty to protect the lives of-
Iskandar lunged forward and head-butted Budo mid-sentence, sending the general reeling backwards.
Iskandar: You talk too much, you know that?
Budo's eyes shot back open and with a roar he swung his fist to nail Iskandar across the cheek with a right hook before delivering a punch into his gut, the electrical surge from the connection pushing Iskandar up into the air. As the servant landed, Budo quickly summoned up another orb of electricity and fired it out.
Iskandar: This again ay? In that case, I'll respond in kind!
He slashed the air with his sword a lighting bolt came down around him just before Budo's attack connected, prematurely detonating the attack. When the lightning faded, it revealed Iskandar standing upon the Gordius Wheel.
Iskandar: Charge!
He cracked the reigns and the chariot surged forwards, its bull steeds aiming their heads down. Budo met the charge head-on, grabbing the heads of the animals with his bare hands and nearly bringing the chariot to a stop, although the force behind the charge pushed Budo backwards across the grass, leaving steaming skid marks. Budo's hold on the bulls was brought to an end when they suddenly steered to the right, throwing Budo off-balance and bringing around the back part so that the rider, Iskandar, could slash out with his sword. Although Budo blocked it, the spurs of the chariot's spinning wheels struck him in the back of the knees, throwing him upwards into the air slightly, letting Iskandar reverse the hold on his sword and stab its point into Budo's armored chest, the force of the impact slamming the general into the ground. At his foe's predicament, Iskandar commanded his chariot back around and performed a second charge at Budo, who rolled to the side just before the chariot could roll over him. He got back to his feet and began to quickly conjure and fire electrical orbs. Iskandar had the chariot serve between the projectiles, avoiding the explosions they produced before charging again at his foe, the chariot cackling lightning. Budo stood still for a moment even with the chariot barreling towards him, before, at the last moment, jumping up into the air, locking his fists together to swing at Iskandar.
The servant guarded against the attack and Budo landed in the confines of the chariot itself, and there he and Iskandar engaged in a close-quarters duel, sparks flying when Budo's gauntlets and Iskandar's sword, all whilst the chariot continued to thunder around the courtyard. One of Budo's backhands suddenly knocked Iskandar's sword from his grip, but the Rider spun around in one move to re-grab the hilt of the weapon before it could get too far out of his reach and stab it at Budo, who caught the very tip of it with his armored hand. Budo then attempted to punch Iskandar but his fist was caught by his opponent, leaving their arms crossed over in a standoff. They both mutually brought it to an end by releasing each other. This allowed Iskandar to reach behind himself and grab the reigns, giving a sharp tug that made the bulls serve sharply and cause Budo to fall out of the chariot.
The general landed cleanly on his feet, glaring up at Iskandar as he brought his restless steeds to a halt.
Budo: You require a great deal more effort on my part.
He slammed his gauntlet's together and a lightning storm cackled into life above him.
Budo: Advent of Thunder Emperor!
Beams of electrical energy shot down from the clouds, peppering the courtyard. Budo glared out at his handiwork, before his eyes widened when he beheld Iskandar in his chariot suddenly soar into the air, weaving between the beams as he went. Budo watched him climb higher into the air and he snarled, levitating himself up the ground with the power of his Imperial Arm and take off after Iskandar, who was still weaving his way between the beams. Out of the corner of his eye, Iskandar saw Budo coming for him and he had the chariot veer to the side to begin a session of temporary keep-away from the general. Once he had left the danger zone of the beams, Iskandar turned around and charged towards Budo. As the two passed by each other, they clashed their weapons together, sending out a web of electrical bolts. This collision and effect happened over and over against, leaving the darkened sky decorated with the patterns. Eventually, Budo charged upwards from beneath the clouds whilst Iskandar came down from above them, yelling their battle cries as they did. Their collision blew away the storm clouds with the electrical force but in spite of the cataclysmic collision, this merely send the two fighters spiraling out to the left and right, the storm clouds reforming from behind them as they charged forward yet again.
Iskandar: Via Expugnatio!
Lightning crashed down around Iskandar and his chariot, whilst Budo slammed his gauntlet's together and bellowed;
Budo: Lightning Crash!
This summoned down bolts of lightning around Budo as he flew forward. The two eventually collided a second time, their respective bolts filling the air around them and adding to the gargantuan lightning explosion that followed.
After the flash had vanished, Budo, breathing heavily and bleeding from the corner of his mouth, landed in one end of the courtyard whilst Iskandar brought his scratched and beaten chariot to land at the other end.
Budo: I am running out of patience invader. My duties lie elsewhere than to squabble with a boastful fool; I have an army to lead.
Iskandar: An army you say. I see no army here; but I can change that!
The servant spread out his arms.
Iskandar: Ionioi Hetairoi!
A blinding light emanated from Iskandar and washed over the courtyard and Budo, who covered his eyes against the glare.
When he next looked out, the general was stunned to find he was now standing in a desert. And before him was a massive army with Iskandar standing before them.
Iskandar: Charge my comrades! Charge and trample all who oppose you!
The army roared and charged forwards, Budo standing ready and waiting. With a roar, he charged forwards, meeting the leading couple of soldiers to send them all flying backwards. Budo's fists flew a thousand times a second, each swing striking a different soldier and blowing them to ash with the electrical energy. Though with each unit that he took down with two more taking their place, Budo didn't slow down in the slightest, tossing, punching and electrocuting each soldier that came at him, in addition to firing out orbs of lightning that vaporized dozens more or sent them flying. When the soldiers began to thicken in their omnidirectional charge towards him, Budo slammed his gauntlet's together to conjure up another lightning storm which rained down bolts onto thousands on the soldiers. Yet more and more soldiers kept coming and though Budo continued to pummel each one that charged, one of them was able to stab out with their spear and nick him across the cheek. Budo snarled and punched the spearman away into a group of his fellow soldiers, before two more soldiers snuck up on the general and slashed him across the back with their swords. Budo turned his attention on them next, only to be greeted by a hail of arrows heading straight from him, forcing him to abort his attack on the swordsmen to cover his face. The arrows peppered his arms, legs and chest, several of them embedding in the third area. Budo snarled at the pain before roaring, unleashing a massive lightning blast from himself to clear a space around himself.
Budo: Enough!
The general drew in energy around himself, creating an electrical aura around himself. Any soldier that attempted to get close was vaporized by the energy until the rest of them got the message. Budo lifted up into the air and glared down at Iskandar, who simply smirked up fearlessly. Budo aimed his gauntlets downwards and began to channel the energy into them.
Budo: Solid Shooter!
He unleashed the beam and it shot straight towards the Servant, who stood unwavering as it approached him. It wasn't until it was a few feet from hitting him that he cracked the reigns and a bolt of lightning shot out to intercept the attack. The two opposing forces struggled for a moment but Budo's beam began to falter as his Imperial Arm neared its limits.
Budo: What?!
The next instant, Iskandar's lightning pushed through the Solid Shooter and struck Budo square in the chest, electrocuting the general and leaving his body smoldering as he fell back to earth, crashing into the sandy ground. Wobbling and dazed, Budo stood back up, still smoldering, before a sharp whistle drew his attention. He turned to face the direction of the noise, just in time for Iskandar's chariot to speed by him, its owner swinging his sword out once to separate Budo's head from his neck. Blood flew out from the decapitation and the headless body collapsed onto its front as Iskandar rode onwards, letting out a triumphant bellow as he went.
KO!
Waver is picked up by Iskandar back in the Imperial Courtyard whilst Budo's body gets covered up by the sand in the reality marble.
Outcome[]
Boomstick: Looks like Budo just got a Reality Marble check.
Wiz: Budo was an impressive Imperial general but he was first and foremost the guardian of the palace.
Boomstick: He's even been directly stated as holding a last-line-of-defense type of position, and that he hasn't seen much action on account of this.
Wiz: Whilst in life, Iskandar was renown as a legendary conqueror who personally oversaw the conquest of most of the known world, these kind of achievements being translated into his Personal and Class Skills. Even then, Iskandar simply had the power and speed advantage.
Popup: The Military Tactics Skill may have given Iskandar the means to formulate strategies against Budo's city-level Imperial Arm as it would against Noble Phantasms.
Boomstick: Comparing Budo to those he fights and Iskandar to a normal human priest, then Iskandar is 88% faster than Budo.
Wiz: Budo's highest feat of power was channeling a small storm that was worth 5 megatons of TNT (DMUA). But Iskandar's Gordius Wheel is an A+ rank Noble Phantasm. As we've already discussed before, when the descendant of Artoria Pendragon, Grey, wielded a legendary spear, it was given the same rank as the wheel.
Boomstick: And that spear was able to output 1100 megatons of TNT (DemonGodMitchAubin).
Popup: Although the spear and Wheel are different types of Noble Phantasms, Mordred's Noble Phantasm, which is the same rank and type, has a similar attack output of 1900 megatons (DemonGodMitchAubin).
Wiz: And Budo's Imperial Arm could only on for so long before it reached its limit. Whilst Iskandar could always run out of Mana, he's always had enough to construct the Reality Marble which contains thousands of soldiers at his back and call. If he ever deployed them against Budo, then the Great General would expend a lot of his Imperial Arm's energy burning through them all. Even if Iskandar wasn't much more powerful thanks to the Gordius Wheel, Budo's limits would be reached against fighting thousands of soldiers.
Boomstick: So it Iskandar who took the win, thanks to his Noble Phantasms, speed and experience. A winning combination for a game of conquer-ors.
Wiz: The winner is Iskandar.

Trivia[]
- The connection between Budo and Iskandar is that they are both physically imposing and powerful generals from anime who utilize lightning in battle, thanks to legendary weapons they possess. They also demonstrate respect for those they battle against and have earned the respect of their series most powerful antagonists.
- This battle would have been in 2D
- The original music for this battle would have been called 'Thunder God Generals', referring to how both combatants wield weapons that control lightning themed after gods and how both are leaders of armies
