Introduction[]
Koopa: Power is something many long for, and dedicated their life to honing to its limits. However, these two push that limit to its full extreme, becoming near-gods.
Neo: Broly, the legendary Super Saiyan from Dragon Ball Super!
Koopa: And Robert Reynolds, A.K.A, the Sentry from Marvel Comics.
Bubbles: For this fight, we’ll be using the “canon” version of Broly from Dragon Ball Super, as he’s the most recent version and considered the strongest out of his two appearances.
Neo: He’s Koopa, she’s Bubbles, and I’m Neo!
Koopa: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win…
Koopa, Bubbles and Neo: A DEATH BATTLE!!!
Broly[]
Koopa: The Saiyan race are a powerful breed of warriors, with every single one of them striving to become the greatest warrior the race had ever seen. Many had become great warriors in their own right, such as Vegeta, Bardock, Turles, and of course, Goku.
Bubbles: But one of them would grow up to become one of the most powerful Saiyans even Goku and Vegeta had ever witnessed. Enter Broly.
Neo: Now that’s a cool name! Now he just needs a badass, tragic backstory to be complete.
Koopa: Well, you might get your wish, Neo. Broly was born in the year 732, and straight from birth, he had a power level of over 10,000, meaning he was already more powerful than Planet Vegeta’s ruler, King Vegeta III, who was enraged at the idea that someone could be more powerful than his own son, Prince Vegeta.
Neo: Creative naming there, King.
Bubbles: Seeing that Broly may be a threat to his planet’s existence, King Vegeta III exiled him and his father Paragus to the backwater planet of Vampa.
Neo: Turns out that was actually good news for Paragus, since Planet Vegeta would be destroyed by Frieza five years later, wiping out the entire Saiyan race aside from some survivors! But Broly and Paragus are rescued from the boring and disgusting Vampa by Cheelai and Lemo, two soldiers in Frieza's army while searching for recruits. They are brought to Frieza, who recruits them to help him defeat the remaining Saiyans: Goku and Vegeta.
Koopa: And Broly was more than capable of doing so. Being one of the most powerful Saiyans from birth, his strength was enormous. He’s a master of martial arts, though he does prefer to use pure, brute force rather than calculated fighting. Similar to other Saiyans, he’s capable of flight and can sense others through the use of Ki, a life force which he, and nearly every other fighter capable of using it, utilize for combat.
Bubbles: He can condense Ki into a ball in his hand and fire it with Eraser Cannon, or use it as a punch with Eraser Blow. Broly can also spew energy blasts from his mouth or hands, and can fire Ki blasts in succession. His most powerful attack is the Full Power Energy Wave, which is essentially his own version of the Kamehameha Wave.
Neo: And just like other Saiyans, Broly can even gain a power boost when he survives a near-fatal blow. But while Broly does seem like a punchy-punch fighter with no real strategy, he can actually adapt to a fight extremely well.
Koopa: Despite his immense power, this is not Broly’s final form. With his Wrath state, he can harness the power of an Oozaru…
Neo: Which literally makes Saiyans turn into giant monkeys.
Koopa: ...without actually becoming one. But after the death of his father, Broly’s initial Super Saiyan form came to be, which drastically increases his power, and when it seems his power is at his limit, Broly transforms into his final form; Full Power Super Saiyan.
Neo: And boy, does this form make Broly into one of the scariest Saiyans in the Dragon Ball universe! Even without these fancy forms, Broly is insanely overpowered. He was able to throw around Super Saiyan God Goku like a ragdoll, manhandle Golden Frieza for over an hour, blew off chunks of a mountain, and was able to keep up with both Blue Goku and Vegeta, with the only way they could beat Broly having to fuse!
Bubbles: Broly is also comparable to Beerus, who’s explicitly said to be 3/4ths the speed of Whis, who could move at over 498 quadrillion times the speed of light, meaning Broly can move at over 54 quadrillion times the speed of light. Needless to say, when Goku, arguably considered to be the greatest Saiyan in the universe had trouble fighting him, you know he means business.
Koopa: But he’s not perfect. While Broly does get stronger as his forms stack up, he can become more and more unstable, and thus more predictable. This ultimately cost him a victory against Gogeta, but still, Broly is one of the most powerful warriors in the galaxy, and one that definitely cannot be overlooked.

Broly: RAAAAGH!!!
Sentry[]
Bubbles: In March of 1947, a covert branch of the Canadian government known as Department K teamed up with members from Operation Rebirth to start a new project, simply known as Project Sentry, where they would attempt to recreate the Super Soldier Serum and upgrade it to become hundreds of times greater.
Neo: Their goal was to create the next defender of justice… Captain Canada!
Bubbles: Well, there were actual Canadian-themed superheroes like Vindicator.
Neo: Haha! I knew it.
Koopa: Unfortunately, the project branched out into a ton of other side-projects, and eventually the mission subsided into practically nothing. However, one scientist dedicated his life to perfecting the serum, and eventually created the Golden Sentry Serum.
Neo: But eventually, ten years later, a high schooler named Robert Reynolds broke into the laboratory and consumed the serum hoping to get high due to his meth addiction. And boy, was that the greatest high he ever got! He gained some crazy superpowers, and after kicking his bully’s ass, Rob made himself a super suit and became known to the world as Sentry!
Bubbles: Due to his superhuman powers, Sentry was quickly recognized by some of the greatest heroes Earth had seen, such as Peter Parker, Reed Richards and Tony Stark, and for good reason. Thanks to the serum, Robert gained many different abilities that turned him from an ordinary man to one with the power of a million suns. He has superhuman strength and speed, flight, heightened senses, and can even teleport.
Neo: Why the hell would you even fly at that point?
Koopa: However, Sentry’s main power is his energy manipulation, particularly light. He can generate it at will, and has complete control over its intensity, even being able to absorb energy from anywhere and everywhere. He usually uses these in the forms of energy beams from his hands and/or eyes.
Neo: Now where have I heard that before…
Bubbles: And while Sentry does have some non-combat powers like being able to heal others to the point of bringing them back to life or healing life-damaging injuries, Sentry’s true power lies within his greatest evil; The Void.
Neo: The Void’s kinda like the Symbiote, though it feeds off of Sentry’s negative energy. While Robert was pretty stubborn to accept it at first, he realized he needed the other half of himself to become whole. Thus, he accepted the Void and merged with it, giving him a red suit with black hair… and now he just looks like Nightwing.
Koopa: With the power of the Void, Sentry becomes much stronger than he ever was, giving him darkness manipulation and even lets him use the Void’s tendrils.
Neo: Heh, I’ve seen enough-
Bubbles, interrupting her: NEEDLESS to say, Sentry went from a struggling meth addict to arguably one of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel universe. He’s traded blows with the likes of Thor, World War Hulk, Ares, Doctor Doom, Carnage and Absorbing Man, caught bullets, flew from Earth to Saturn in mere seconds, and claims to work by the millisecond.
Neo: Apparently he can even "hear a butterfly sneeze in Central Africa" while in New York. Can butterflies even sneeze?
Neo goes to a computer and types rapidly on the keyboard.
Neo: They can’t! Haha! I’ve figured out your tricks, Stan Lee!
Koopa: ...anyways, for comparison, World War Hulk was able to create shockwaves just by stomping, and powered a force field that temporarily halted the Celestial Exitar, who was bigger than the Earth itself. As for Doctor Doom, his armor was powerful enough to tank hits from Thanos while wielding the Infinity Gauntlet. And for Thor, well… he’s a god, so I’ll let you figure out if that’s a feat or not.
Bubbles: Back to Sentry, while he is incredibly overpowered, his weakness really comes from his unwillingness to go “all out”, as he’s afraid of hurting innocent lives in the process. This leads to Sentry unfortunately having a lot of anxiety issues and often being mentally unstable. However, time and time again, Sentry has overcome these past troubles and now uses his powers for the greater good.
Neo: Whether he’s using his positive or negative energy, Sentry is a prime example of why you don’t need to be born with powers to rival gods!
Sentry: Once the Void left me, the two angels came. Pulled me from the light, to return to this chaotic room with its malodorous flavors. But gloriously free of the entirety of my sadness and failure, I am reborn -- I AM LIFE-IN-DEATH!
Interlude[]
Koopa: Alright, the combatants are set, let’s end this debate once and for all.
Neo: It’s time for a DEATH BATTLE!!!
Pre-Fight[]
In a large mountain range near a city, a large man can be seen standing on a cliffside. His abnormally large and spiky hair blew in the wind, looking down at the city. He looked at his own hand, balling it up before sensing someone nearby. Someone with immense strength. He turned around and saw a man wearing a yellow suit with long, golden blonde hair blowing in the wind. Broly and Sentry stared one another down, knowing full well what was coming next.
Sentry: You’re strong.
Broly didn’t say anything, simply blowing air out of his nose in response.
Sentry: I’d recommend we move to a more… secluded location as to not destroy the city.
Broly nodded, and began flying away from the city as Sentry followed beside him. The two gave each other passing glances, both knowing this would be a fight to remember. Eventually, the two landed in a forest thousands of miles away from their starting location. The two didn’t bother saying anything else as Broly took a fighting pose, while Sentry stood still.
FIGHT!
Fight[]
Broly took the first move, dashing forwards with a strong punch. Sentry quickly vanished out of thin air, and Broly looked around to see where he went. Sentry teleported behind him and kicked him away, knocking over several trees in the process, though Broly quickly got up as if they were nothing. Broly dashed forwards once again, though Sentry collided his fist with Broly’s, causing the trees to shake around them. They traded blows over and over again, with Broly eventually uppercutting Robert, sending him into the air. He started to glow, flying into the air as he delivered a quick combo, ending it by grabbing Sentry’s face and slamming it back down onto the ground. Broly went to crush Sentry’s skull, but Robert quickly flew upwards, grabbing Broly and taking him with him. Sentry delivered a similar quick combination of punches and kicked Broly away, immediately flying after him. However, Broly quickly recuperates and clashes with Sentry again, both moving at high speeds while clashing with one another.
Eventually, Broly punches Sentry downwards as his hands start to glow. He fires Ki attacks at Sentry, though he uses an energy force field to block all of them. Broly growls as his attacks are blocked, and goes to attack Sentry out of rage, though his attacks bounce off of his shield. Sentry quickly makes the shield disappear and charges at Broly, tackling him and pounding him into the ground. Broly stands, though he has a hard time doing so. Sentry lands and crosses his arms.
Sentry: Had enough yet?
Broly looks at his opponent and growls once more, suddenly taking a stance and charging up his power. He was surging with energy, though his appearance stayed the same. Sentry looked on, almost disappointed as he expected something more exciting to happen.
Sentry: Well, that’s… something?
Broly quickly disappeared and reappeared behind Sentry, kicking him back. He did it again, disappearing and reappearing in front of Sentry until they were in the air once more. Sentry finally blocked an attack and delivered a quick flurry of punches, though Broly was able to dodge a final blow before charging Ki in his fist and punching Sentry in the back of the head, causing him to form a crater where he landed. Broly charged up more Ki in his fist, and threw it at the crater where Sentry was, causing a massive explosion that destroyed the trees around it. Broly looked to see his opponent missing. Sentry suddenly appeared behind Broly, and kicked him away. He flew after Broly, punching him as he caught up to him. Eventually, they flew to a lake. Sentry flew ahead of Broly and hit him with an elbow strike downwards, sending him into the lake below.
Sentry landed at the shore of the lake, ready for what may come next, as he knew this opponent was too strong to be held down by water. And as expected, Broly rose from the water, roaring once more as he charged up his energy. His hair suddenly turned yellow, and his pupils disappeared entirely. Sentry couldn’t help but smirk.
Sentry: What a ripoff.
Broly suddenly dashed forwards with a fist extended, though before Sentry could retaliate with a punch of his own, Broly disappeared and reappeared behind Sentry once more, grabbing him and dragging his face across the ground, running away from the lake. Sentry grabbed Broly’s wrist, though he had to let go when Broly threw him and sent multiple Ki volleys his way. Sentry quickly stopped and absorbed the Ki blasts, adding to his own strength. Broly charges at Sentry before he could react, punching him away once more as he delivered a flurry of punches when he caught up to him. Finally, he kicked Sentry in the stomach and punched him downwards, breaking his jaw and nose as he landed on the ground. Broly landed to see if his opponent had been defeated, but saw Sentry get up as his injuries seemed to heal themselves.
Broly was angry; his attacks seemed to do nothing to his opponent, and now he could just take them without any damage done. Broly charged up one more time and became the Legendary Super Saiyan. Before Sentry could make another remark, Broly charged towards him and held his face again, this time flying towards a mountain as Broly flew straight through the mountain, causing it to break apart once he came out of the back end. Sentry was able to get Broly to release him by grabbing his arm and pulling it away forcefully. The two collided punches, causing more massive shockwaves across the forest and mountain range nearby. Broly hit Sentry backwards, causing him to bleed from the mouth as he started to catch his breath. Robert hadn’t seen anything like this opponent before.
Suddenly, Sentry felt as if he was losing his breath. Darkness started to take over, and he was seeing red; both literally and metaphorically.
Sentry: No… not now…
Sentry floated in the air, and he suddenly transformed. His once-yellow suit and white skin turned into a black overlay with a red outline, and his eyes glowed red. This was the power of the Void. Broly watched, not even phased by this new transformation.
The Void: K̴͕̾̈̍̕í̴̻̯̞̘̰l̷̯̎l̶͉͌̿̑͛͘ ̴̍͜h̴̻͛͒͑̽ǐ̸͉̳͇̤͐͗ͅm̸̻͉͋̎,̷̣̭͚̊̎̈̄ ̶̖̻͍̦̅̍̀R̷̡̲̪̅͑̀̍ò̴̮̭̳̔̇͌͝b̶̡̥̘̓̿̿̊e̵̢͎͂̾͝r̷̨̼̳̘͈̎͂͌ṯ̵͖̻͎̊́̕͜.̷̻̉̔
The two clashed punches once more, beginning to rise as the intensity of their strikes grew in power. Sentry backed away and sent a tendril towards Broly. He used a Ki blast on each of them, blocking each one until a single tendril wrapped itself around his left arm and snapped it, causing Broly to roar in pain. Sentry then grabbed Broly with his tendrils and flew him out of the atmosphere. The Saiyan attempted to free himself from these restraints, but to no avail. The two were now in space, with the moon and the sun bookending the Earth. Sentry went to break all of Broly’s bones, but Broly was able to use a flick of the wrist to fire a Ki blast that hit Sentry in the face. The Void started fading from his body, and his suit turned back into its usual yellow form. But Sentry had no time to celebrate, as Broly clashed his fist with his wrist.
Sentry quickly punched Broly back, charging up an attack.
Sentry: This… is… OVER!
Broly charged a similar blast with his right arm, the two finally unleashing their respective energy beams at one another, causing a clash. The two attempted to intensify the beams, but any attempt was met with an equal amount of powering-up. This went on for a short moment, before Sentry was able to just barely overpower Broly’s beam, knocking him thousands of miles away from Earth. Sentry flew towards Broly, grabbing him and tackling him towards the sun. Broly attempted to hit Sentry to release his grip, but to no avail. Sentry got closer and closer to the sun, Broly starting to feel the bright star’s intense heat.
Sentry: I’m sorry.
Sentry punched Broly further into the sun, causing Broly to cry out as the star’s everburning fire instantly burned him alive. Before Sentry could take any more damage, he teleported away from the sun, standing on Earth’s moon as he looked into the sun. He sighed.
Sentry: Hopefully we meet again, Broly.

Neo: Hell yeah, now that’s what I call a Death Battle!
Koopa: Indeed. Broly was an incredible opponent, and one that Sentry had quite a bit of trouble with, but he couldn’t entirely keep up with Robert’s immense power, especially when merged with the Void. While Broly does have more experience, being even more powerful than his own king as a baby, Sentry’s fought these kinds of opponents before.
Neo: While Broly could tango with powerful warriors like Goku and Vegeta, Sentry could do the same with Thor and World Breaker Hulk, proving he could keep up with godlike power outside of his own ballpark. Their Ki and light powers respectively were also pretty comparable, and could be used for both offense and defense, but Sentry’s had more versatility than just some fancy lasers.
Bubbles: And interestingly enough, Broly’s speed gave him an advantage for a short while. While traveling from Earth to Saturn is impressive, it’s nowhere near as impressive as keeping up with Beerus, who could move up to 54 quadrillion times the speed of light, so Broly certainly wasn’t outclassed in *every* category.
Koopa: But speed isn’t always the defining factor. For one, Sentry’s teleportation more than makes up for the speed difference, and the Void was pretty much Robert’s ace in the hole. Being able to break Hulk’s bones and destroying Loki at a molecular level shows Sentry’s already enormous power increases, and while Broly does the same with his Super Saiyan forms, he couldn’t have been any more powerful than Gogeta.
Neo: Also, that regeneration factor Sentry had was pretty hard for Broly to get around, and hasn’t been shown to be intelligent enough to overcome that kind of durability. And while it took two men to beat Broly, Sentry’s been able to defeat a gigantic team consisting of the Avengers, X-Men, Fantastic Four and Inhumans. And sure, I doubt Broly would have THAT much trouble taking down someone like Spider-Man or Captain America, but Thor and Doctor Strange certainly aren’t street-level heroes.
Bubbles: Broly is a powerful warrior, and one of the strongest we’ve seen on the show so far, but ultimately, Sentry was too. Robert simply had the strength and otherworldly power to end Broly once and for all.
Neo: Looks like Broly’s efforts were null and VOID!
Koopa: The winner is The Sentry.
