Description[]

Two tsundere girls that are treated like princesses (well, one is a princess) and have opposite elements come together to spar 'til one dies. Will Blaze's chances be frozen cold, or shall Weiss melt under pressure?

Introduction[]

Aqua: Fire and ice are two very different elements with very different destructive capabilities, so we've decided to pit two girls of high class that use each against each other.

Octuplet: Blaze the Cat, princess of the Sol Dimension.

Aqua: And Weiss Schnee, former heiress to the Schnee Dust Company. I'm Aqua and she's Octuplet, and its our job to analyse their weapons, armor and skills to see who would win a Death Battle.

Blaze the Cat[]

Aqua: The world of Sonic the Hedgehog is one of the weirdest out there, with a giant egg shaped man looking to steal seven emeralds to rule the world. These unique gems are the seven Chaos Emeralds, and they grant the user ultimate power when collected together.

(Cue Vela Nova - Sonic Rush)

Octuplet: However, these things are just scattered about everywhere, with no one to look after them. In an alternate universe though, seven similar gems exist. These are known as the seven Sol Emeralds, and their guardian is Blaze the Cat.

Aqua: Bullied from a young age, Blaze grew up alone, learning how to master her fire powers that she was often ridiculed for. Then came the point in her life where, as princess of the Sol Dimension, she was tasked with forever looking after the legendary square cut gems. This led into Blaze isolating herself from social life, focused on doing her job for the rest of her days.

Octuplet: Then Doctor Eggman Nega, a descendant of Eggman from the future, teamed up with the mad scientist to take down both their rivals. This is when Blaze met Sonic the Hedgehog, a 15 year old who had been dragged into this mess by the fusion of both their worlds.

Aqua: At first viewing, Sonic to Blaze was a stuck-up showoff that was only going to get in her way, but when she realized he was only trying to help, she let herself be more accepting of those she met in the near future. This led her into becoming a major ally to the Sonic team, and she had the skills to prove it.

Octuplet: Being another Sonic character, Blaze has your regular spin dash, homing attack, punches and kicks... whatever, point is, anything Sonic can do, she can do it too.

Aqua: Well, not exactly. Blaze's usual attacks don't involve her curling into a ball. Rather, she combines these moves with ballet and fire to make her a deadly weapon...

Octuplet: Eh, same difference. But Blaze isn't just about melee, as her fire can be launched as a handy projectile. Hell, SHE can become the projectile when she uses her flames to augment her speed in her own rendition of the Sonic Boost.

Aqua: And, as previously stated, Blaze can fuse ballet with martial arts in a similar vein to Sonic's breakdancing moves. This gives her kicks a slightly bigger presence than her fists, taking notes from her ally Rouge the Bat.

Octuplet: So now that the fires have died down a bit...uh...

Aqua: Let's figure out Blaze's speed. Or to be more specific, Sonic's speed.

Octuplet: Here we go. So, you know Sonic Colors DS, right. Yeah, me neither, but within the game Sonic boasts that he in fact can exceed the speed of light.

Aqua: Now, don't look away going 'she's going to disprove this and make up some silly rebuttal', as I in fact believe that this is true. Sonic does have a usual power-up to find in order to use his light speed attack and dash, but in other games after, such as Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, Sonic automatically has this ability. Assuming Sonic learns the moves himself after using the power-ups, Sonic can in fact go faster than light.

Octuplet: What about Sonic Unleashed? In the HD game Sonic comes across it late into the game, shouldn't this be sufficient evidence that its still a collectible. Well... no. Unleashed Wii and Sonic Generations don't give Sonic powers, and the latter game takes place after Unleashed anyway so...

Aqua: Blaze is possibly capable of doing this too. But it's not just speed Blaze uses. She's equal to Sonic in combat and strength, and when we use strength we talk about Knuckles, Sonic's other strength based equal.

Octuplet: In a previous Death Battle, former presenters Wiz and Boomstick calculated that Knuckles' base punches can trigger volcanic eruptions. You could say this was a visual effect in Sonic Boom's intro, but once again, Sonic Heroes comes to the rescue. SHIFT, ROCK, YEAH!!!

Aqua: Bear in mind that this would take up to four megatons of TNT, and Blaze is certainly capable of standing up to Sonic, who is way stronger.

Octuplet: But when you thought that this was over, Blaze's guardian status allows her to use the Sol Emeralds like the Chaos Emeralds, granting her a new form known as Burning Blaze. Yeah, remember all that stuff we just told you? Just times that a thousandfold. Oh, and she's invincible. Thought I'd add that in.

Aqua: In their second meeting, Burning Blaze teamed up with Super Sonic to take down the Egg Wizard, which was empowered by the dimension's Jeweled Scepter. According to the Eggmen, this was capable of warping multiple dimensions into their own personal Eggmanland, similar to the Egg Salamander being able to fuse dimensions together in the first Sonic Rush. The Sol Emeralds can grant Blaze powers as strong as that, giving her possible multi-universal strength in her super form.

Octuplet: Holy crap! That's pretty powerful. And with her thousandfold ability increase, she can possibly reach speeds beyond 1000 times the speed of light. Damn, she's as perfect as a Disney Princess, but just way stronger!

Aqua: Well, she's not exactly 100% pure. Despite being a cat, Blaze is deathly afraid of heights and is prone to letting her anger out on many occasions. Oh, and don't make comments about... 'sigh', her bust size.

Octuplet: Would that count as lack in self confidence?

Aqua: Not really, because Blaze, being a spoiled princess, believes to be above all others. This can cause her to underestimate her rival's abilities.

Octuplet: But when you want a cat that can kick ass, Blaze is certainly one to watch out for.

After being freed from the white space by Sonic, Blaze jumps in the air and lands on part of Crisis City, before coming back down to the ground.

Blaze: As much as I dislike relying on others, I'm grateful for your aid. The creature was beyond my skills.

Weiss Schnee[]

Aqua: The world of Remnant, home to Grimm, giant shadow monsters that seek to kill, hunters and huntresses, who fought to stop them, and the Schnee Dust Company.

Octuplet: Did we steal that from Weiss vs Mitsur...?

Aqua: Shhhh. Uh, anyway, the Schnee family was one with... lets say 'rivalries'. No one got along well, with everyone hating each other's guts. It would only be a matter of time until one of the kids ran away.

Octuplet: Enter Weiss Schnee, a 17 year old girl who enrolled into Beacon Academy to become a huntress and branch her own path away from being her company's heiress. Weiss had been trained with a rapier when she was younger, learning how to perfect the art of fencing and swordfighting.

Aqua: It was these skills that she showed off against Grimm, earning the attention of Professor Ozpin and her spot in the team known as RWBY.

Octuplet: Weiss' technique with her blade was among that of professional swordfighters, and with her Dust as her weapon she immediately earned her spot in the team. But how does she need Dust? It looks like a regular sword.

Aqua: Weiss' sword, Myrtenaster, is no regular 3 foot blade Octuplet, as it's also a revolver. The 'bullets' are in fact vials of Dust, with each providing Weiss with unique elemental attacks. For example Red Dust is fire, giving Weiss projectiles she can use in battle.

Octuplet: But the thing Weiss is most known for is her Ice Dust. Her small blade becomes pretty powerful when this particular vial is used, allowing her to unbalance a giant mech just from her ice alone. And water, just as a small boost.

Aqua: Dust isn't just used as ammo either, as Weiss can use it in order to use her glyphs, her family's semblance. Certain glyphs can give Weiss the power to slow time, manipulate gravity and even summon giant monsters to aid her in battle.

Octuplet: Most notable of these is the Armor Gigas, a giant Cloud Strife sword wielding ice... thing. Weiss isn't just stocked full of power though, as her defence is just as good.

Aqua: We're talking about Weiss' Aura, which provides quite a bit of a shield health boost. She's nearly unkillable when using this, though it comes as a cost. Aura is a limited supply, and losing it can take away Weiss' semblance, leaving her useless.

Octuplet: This means that during any fight, Weiss constantly has to juggle her aura with her attacks, but doing this has made her into a pretty consistant fighter. Remember that giant mech feat from earlier. That attack would be worth over 200 tons of TNT alone, and Weiss can survive up to 10 tons of TNT herself.

Aqua: As for her speed, Weiss can keep up with her teammates Ruby, Blake and Yang, the second of which can dodge natural lightning. This puts Weiss' possible reaction speed at over 220,000 miles per hour.

Octuplet: Oh, and as for that mech feat again, That could've destroyed at least a part of a city. Yeah.

Aqua: But remember, Weiss can slow down time and increase her power through her Dust, meaning that this isn't even her best ability.

Octuplet: So, you might be thinking, 'huh, Weiss has been trained to perfection. Can anything stop her?'

Aqua: Yes, seeing as how Weiss can see herself being above all others due to her heritage. And, because her aura doesn't make her completely invulnerable, enough attacks can bring her total down. Bear in mind that aura also contributes to one's stamina, and she has shown exhaustion after a fight before.

Octuplet: It can be argued that Weiss' semblance is the hardest to maintain, due to her wider array of moves. This is even shown after the girls fought the Nevermore, in which Weiss was the only one clearly exhausted.

Aqua: But while Weiss can be stubborn and bratty, she can do well in battles. Sure, we almost always see her lose in RWBY, but don't think that she can be put down easy.

Weiss: It's exactly as you said: I'm a Schnee. I have a legacy of honor to uphold. Once I realized I was capable of fighting, there was no longer a question of what I would do with my life. It was my duty.

Pre-Pre-Fight[]

Aqua: All right, the combatants are set and we've run the data through all possibilities.

Octuplet: It's time for a Death Battle! YEAH!

Pre-Fight[]

The trees surrounding the Leaf Forest Zone were not too different from the ones found in Green Hill, as Blaze had recently found out. The young cat princess had been dragged into Sonic's dimension once more, this time by complete accident due to a certain raccoon messing up her watch of the Sol Emeralds.

Blaze: Curse your childishness Marine. Now... where could the Sol Emeralds have gone? As much as I'd hate to admit it, I'll have to find Sonic for help. 'sigh', Again.

Blaze continued walking through the forest, unaware of the young girl in her way.

...

Weiss Schnee looked around the area she was now trapped in, separated from her team by some random explosion from earlier. The white haired girl was also walking around the Leaf Forest Zone, but compared to the cat girl ahead, she had no clue what strange place she had found herself in. This was unusual, even compared to Remnant's dark Grimm infested forests. But lucky for Weiss, she had recently come across a weird blue hedgehog explaining to a red echidna new discovered properties of an emerald that he had recently used again. Seeking these to find her team, who had coincedentally found their own gem, Weiss went exploring this strange new world.

And then CRASH!

'Hey, watch where you're going!' shouted two girls.

Blaze: Watch where I'm going? You're the one staring around the place like some sort of confused creature!

Weiss: I am no creature! I'm Weiss Schnee, and I am much more important around the world than you, cat!

!

Both girls looked up to a tree and saw a very familiar square cut gem sitting in one of the branches.

Blaze: A Sol Emerald! Stay back young girl, I have this!

Blaze jumped up, only for Weiss to use her gravity glyph to bring Blaze back down to the ground!

Weiss: That emerald, like the one that blue hedgehog described. Sorry, you flat-chested nuisance, but I'm taking this for myself. And don't call me young girl, you barely look 14. I think.

Blaze was pissed. No one makes comments about her chest and get away with it. Not even Marine or Sonic!

Blaze: Screw the Sol Emeralds, this is personal.

Weiss: Fine, I'm sorry. Can we just start ov...?

Blaze rushed at Weiss, not willing to back down after a low comment like that.

Weiss vs Blaze Sprites

FIGHT!!![]

Immediately putting up her sword, Weiss tried pushing Blaze back, which worked to some degree. Blaze's impact was much softer than intended, and she didn't like this. Hopping into the air faster than Weiss could react, Blaze brought her foot down onto the girl's head, bouncing off, turning around and kicking Weiss in the back. Weiss was immediately launched forward, but much to Blaze's surprise she effortlessly recovered by throwing her hands in front of her and pushing herself into a cartwheel. Turning to face the cat, Weiss jabbed forward swiftly, keeping Blaze on her toes. Weiss was fast, but Blaze knew she was faster, proceeding to literally run circles around the white haired girl. Weiss continued jabbing, hoping to get in a lucky hit. Too bad for her, Blaze was moving too fast, and before she knew it, Weiss was flung into the fiery tornado. Trees detached from the ground as Blaze and Weiss hopped from them towards the other. The ensuing battle was about to be finished already, with Blaze burning her flames even more, only for Weiss to use her gravity glyphs. A split second was all it took for Blaze to fly left and right, bouncing off trees and damaging her back. With one swift jump, Weiss jabbed forward and caught Blaze's arm. This soundly spun Blaze out of the tornado and into the ground below, with Weiss following her out. Using her sword, she blocked off several homing attacks from her opponent, before using her lighting glyphs to hit Blaze from all dimensions. Eventually Blaze was launched into the wall, leaving a crater as big as her as a mark.

Weiss: You may be fast miss, but speed isn't everything! I know someone like you that thinks that already.

Blaze fell to the ground, slowly getting to her feet as Weiss pointed her sword at her chest.

Blaze: 'cough'. Is that so, Miss Schnee. Look behind you.

The flames caused by the previous tornado were littering the arena, and Blaze used this to her advange. Several fireballs were coming her way.

Blaze: I too know someone that believes speed is everything, and I'm not like him.

Weiss's eyes bulged at the sight, but immediately she perked up. Launching her own wave of fire, the projectiles grew while Weiss simply jumped up. The fire was aiming for Blaze now, with them having passed Weiss earlier.

Weiss: Well, you're not the only one who has fire. Bye.

BOOM!

The wall erupted in flames and exploded, Weiss moving back to avoid the blast herself. It was over, she had won.

KO...

Or had she? Weiss was immediately flung forward and backward by a blast of light. Blaze was certainly alive, and she was ready to kill. Summoning more fire, Blaze threw her abilities forward, Weiss countering with ice Dust. For a second it wasn't clear who would come out on top, until Weiss used her gravity glyphs to launch Blaze into the air. Jumping after her, Weiss had her move. Within an instant, Blaze was being covered by Weiss' ice, and Weiss was slashing at her with Myrtenaster at the same time. It look over, as Weiss impaled the ice and Blaze, kicking them to the ground. Weiss landed first, with the ice shattering next, crashing to the ground. Weiss just smiled.

Weiss: Well, I'm no longer sorry. See ya Flame Princess!

However, Weiss was wrong to taunt, as when she turned she saw Blaze floating mid-air, her costume now red and orange. By this time both Team Sonic and Team RWBY were watching the spectacle, taken aback by Blaze and Weiss.

Weiss: But how...?

Blaze: Ice vs Fire. How, think it would've worked? I am Blaze the Cat, protector of the Sol Emeralds. I sensed them nearby, and tricked you into thinking I was still in that ice cube, so I burned throughed and snuck off, finding the other six. This is my form, Burning Blaze.

Blaze landed on the ground, with Weiss thrusting Myrtenaster forward. Blaze grinned as it did nothing but bounce off her, breaking the blade itself by casually snapping it in half with her hands. Blaze kicked Weiss in the leg, bringing her down, before kicking her again in the chest. Weiss was launched once more, unable to track Blaze. She was moving so fast that it was like Weiss was standing still, effectively being hit by nothing in her eyes. Weiss thought to herself as she keep soaring through the air. She was screwed.

Weiss (Thinking): It's over. My aura's gone, I can't use my sword, Dust or glypths. I've got nothing. Goodbye Ruby, Yang and Blake.

Weiss snapped out of her thought, as Blaze flew above her, bringing her heel down onto Weiss' neck. As they landed on the ground, Weiss neck snapped before detaching from her head, which calmly rolled away downhill. Blood poured from Weiss' decapitated body, with Blaze burning her corpse to ashes.

KO!!!

Results[]

Octuplet: My god, that looked painful. Let's show it again.

Aqua: Blaze's advantage over Weiss seemed miniscule at first, but delving deeper into comparisons showed us that Weiss stood no chance.

Octuplet: In terms of speed, Weiss scales to her teammates, who managed to avoid natural lightning of over 220,000 miles per hour. On the other hand, Blaze could keep up with Sonic, who can exceed light speed, meaning that Blaze was over 3000 times faster than Weiss.

Aqua: And that was Weiss' reaction speed. Her traveling and fighting speed is much lower. And, if we were to assume the super forms increased power by 1000, at the most Blaze is in fact 3000000 times faster than Weiss.

Octuplet: So, speed isn't everything, right? No, but in this case, Blaze could've won from speed alone. But this is Death Battle, so we should probably take other comparisons into account.

Aqua: In strength, Weiss' ice was capable of displaying a power equivalent to 200 tons of TNT, but Blaze is more than capable of standing up to Sonic, who is much stronger in base than Knuckles, who can punch hard enough to knock the moon out of its orbit and with a force of over 3.9 megatons of TNT. That's 200 vs 3900000, equalling Blaze's strength at over 19500 times greater than Weiss. Or, compared to Burning Blaze, 19500000 times better.

Octuplet: In terms of Weiss' dust and glyphs, lightning would be nowhere near fast enough to give Weiss a chance, Ice Dust is pointless against a pyrokinetic, Blaze is immune to fire and gravity manipulation is nothing to a character from a series that regularly runs through anti-gravity stages everyday.

Aqua: Weiss' arsenal may have been enough to keep Blaze on her toes for the duration of the fight, but when it came down to everything else, Weiss was easily screwed.

Octuplet: It looks like Weiss couldn't stay cool in the heat of this battle.

Aqua: The winner of this Death Battle is Blaze the Cat

Blaze the Cat vs Weiss Schnee is is the first episode of season one in MaverickHunterSilver's Death Battle series, featuring Blaze the Cat from Sonic the Hedgehog and Weiss Schnee from RWBY.

Description[]

Sonic the Hedgehog vs RWBY! The argument of "fire vs ice" has been echoed through many battles that feature manipulators of both elements, but this time it echoes through two teenage girls with a little more than just pyro and cryokinetics at their disposal. With both at their fingertips and more, which of these prim and proper fighters will burn or freeze under pressure and meet a toasty or cold finish?

Introduction[]

Silver: Fire vs Ice. A rivalry like no other, between the users of pyrokinesis and cryokinesis. Heat vs Cold. Many other words can be used to describe this fearsome battle, and it has echoed through many debates featuring certain fictional characters.

Maverick: But in our battle today, pyros and cryos, while still echoing through them, are far from the only skills these two stubborn-as-hell teenage ladies have within their movesets. I'm talking about Blaze the Cat, the princess of the Sol Dimension and guardian of the alternate Chaos Emeralds, the Sol Emeralds.

Silver: And Weiss Schnee, the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company and the representative of the second letter in huntress team RWBY. Now to keep this bout somewhat close, Burning Blaze shall be restricted for this battle.

Maverick: He's Silver and I'm Maverick!

Silver: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armour and skills to see who would win a Death Battle!

Blaze the Cat[]

Maverick: You know that potential theory out there that there are alternate universes and dimensions out there beyond our knowledge? Well, as you know, fiction doesn't give a crap about mere theories, and that's why in stories there can be alternate dimensions existing left, right and center without anyone so much as batting an eye when a multiversal threat occurs. I mean, have you seen DC and Marvel?

Silver: And such existence of multiple dimensions exists within the cosmology of Sonic the Hedgehog, but specifically one out there has been visited by Sonic the Hedgehog himself many times. Enter the Sol Dimension, where Sonic the Hedgehog and his freedom fighting buddies don't exist as alternate versions.

Maverick: Nope, instead the dimension as a whole is protected by a young princess rather than a cocky blue hedgehog that can run fast, and you may know her as Blaze the Cat. Yep, the girl who killed Avdol is back again!

Silver: Blaze, being the princess of the Sol Dimension, is it's prime leader who also spends her time looking after the Sol Emeralds, analogues to the Chaos Emeralds of Sonic's world.

Background

Age: 14 years old

Princess of the Sol Dimension

Height: 95 cm (3' 1")/Weight: Unknown (Responds negatively to such a question like other Sonic girls)

Despite being a cat, Blaze has acrophobia, a fear of heights

Also hates comments regarding her being flat chested

Maverick: But there's actually more to this duty than it may seem. Let's go back to Blaze's childhood. Blaze was born with the unique ability of pyrokinesis, or the ability to control fire. Of course, this made her stand out from other kids her age, thus Blaze was relentlessly bullied. Which I don't quite understand, she has literal fire powers! That's cool, not something to make jokes about.

Silver: Well, the laughs were more directed towards Blaze struggling to control her abilities, but still, for most of her life, Blaze was ridiculed for her "strange" powers, thus she became withdrawn from others, often staying in seclusion and opting to stay away from making any friends. Of course, as Blaze grew up, there emerged another reason as to why she preferred to be without company.

Maverick: See, it's in the duty of the Sol Dimension royals to look after two sacred relics. First off is the Jeweled Scepter, a staff thing that kept the Sol Dimension and others close to it stable, which avoided cross-fusion between worlds or some crap. And then there were the seven Sol Emeralds, "not-Chaos Emeralds" that were nothing but powerful relics. Still, they needed to be protected, after all who knows who could've got their sadistic hands on this!

Silver: But the thing was that someone did try to get their hands on the emeralds and the Scepter, namely Eggman Nega, who had teamed up with a Dr. Eggman from another world, specifically the main one, to take over not just Blaze's dimension, but Sonic's as well.

Maverick: And here's where the colliding dimensions come into play. Sonic's dimension was clashing with Blaze's dimension, which led to Blaze seeking help from Sonic the Hedgehog himself to take down both of the mad scientists.

Silver: And though reluctant at first, Blaze eventually began warming up to Sonic, no pun intended, which taught her that sometimes there was a need for friends in Blaze's life.

Maverick: And she had a rare thing we almost NEVER get to see in a Sonic game past 2004: character development. Normally I would groan at the "power of friendship" shit, but honestly it turned Blaze from Shadow 2.0 into her own unique character with an appealing personality. Seriously, this girl is actually kinda cool, not going to lie. Best girl.

Silver: Um... yeah. Still, despite the need to protect her dimension, Blaze did find time to push duties aside to help Sonic across universes when he needed it the most, and even found herself a close friend as a result: Cream the Rabbit.

Maverick: Because you're a monster if you're not friends with Cream the Rabbit!

Silver: No, I mean very close friends, to the point that Blaze was something like an older sister to Cream. Sort of like Amy in a way.

Maverick: You know, except for the fact that Blaze isn't batshit insane and drags a 6 year old girl into battles like it's a perfectly normal thing to do.

Silver: As we've established, Blaze is needed to protect the Jeweled Scepter, and there's nothing better to guard them with than Blaze's abilities. Getting the main attraction out of the way first, Blaze has pyrokinesis.

Maverick: Pyrokinesis is control over fire, but Blaze just doesn't just know how to control it, she can use it offensively too. Hell, her ability to manipulate flames is so goddamn good, that according to her when needing to seal Iblis, her soul is quite literally lit with flames!

"Don't worry. My soul is already alit with flames. I will be accepted."

Silver: Blaze's pyrokinetics stretch out beyond her own. She can create fire from her hands as you'd expect, but she can also control other flames not created by her. Plus, Blaze can also use her fire powers as a defensive tool, being able to create her own equivalent to the old Flame Shields from Sonic's early days.

Maverick: But screw all that defensive stuff, Blaze has some kick-ass fire attacks in her, and I wanna talk about them!

Powers/Abilities

Pyrokinesis, control over fire

Includes manipulation of foreign flames

Burst Dash and the Spinning Claw, Blaze's equivalent to the rolling Spin Attack

Axel Tornado and Fire Claw (Spin Jump and Homing Attack)

Burst Hover, a fire powered hover technique

Fire Boost, the Sonic Boost enhanced by fire

Also has access to the Wisps, specifically the Laser, Drill and Asteroid

Silver: Most of Blaze's offensive options consist of fire themed alternatives to moves that Sonic and his friends can pull off. Such techniques include the Burst Dash, which much like Sonic's ground based Spin Attack can be used on the ground through momentum from Blaze's speeds. Alternatively, the Spinning Claw can do pretty much the same thing.

Maverick: And of course, this wouldn't be a Sonic game without the ability to burst robots open with a Spin Jump. Or in this case, the Axel Tornado. Hold on one second. Axel. Tornado. Blaze. Is this just one big Inazuma Eleven nod, or...

Silver: No no no no, for one that's the Inazuma Eleven dub that refers to him as Axel Blaze. Second, Blaze actually came before Inazuma Eleven, which came out in...

Maverick: It's Inazuma Eleven, holy crap! We never hear that series even get mentioned, it's criminally underrated and...

Silver: 'Ahem'

Maverick: Oh, right. Sorry about that Silver, kinda just went on an unrelated tangent. Though can you blame me, I mean I...

Silver: MAVERICK! Snap out of it! Sorry about that folks, as I was going to say, there's nothing better to go along with a Spin Jump in the Sonic games than a good and effective Homing Attack. In Blaze's case though, this comes in the form of the Fire Claw, which actually has a different finish to Sonic's infamous move.

Maverick: Blaze is a cat, right? Well, let's just say that the move speaks for itself, Blaze spins horizontally and claws away at her chosen target, and being a much larger cat than her real counterparts, you can bet that this is much more painful than your typical cat scratch. I mean, have you seen how big the Sonic cast's hands are!?

Silver: Yep, thankfully Blaze wears gloves, so her claws certainly shouldn't be on par with, say, Sonic the Werehog. Though fan artists have certainly tried to capture this, as you'd naturally expect. But moving on from that, Blaze actually has the ability to hover for a brief time. Such a move is the Burst Hover, where Blaze uses flames to create an updraft that retains Blaze's air time, though it does run out eventually.

Maverick: She looks like Iron Man flying like that.

Silver: Yeah, she somewhat does. And moving back to similar abilities to the Speed Types, Blaze can use her flames and the air around her to boost forward surrounded by a heat generated aura. This, rather unimaginatively, is named the Fire Boost.

Maverick: That... actually isn't that bad. It's better than creating a fancy name for the sake of showing off, certainly goes to show Blaze's class and reluctance to boast her abilities.

Silver: Indeed. Blaze is a unique Sonic character, but her fighting techniques are something similar to Sonic's. Recall how Sonic mixes in martial arts with forms of breakdance. Well, Blaze can do a similar thing, but instead with ballet.

Maverick: Yep, going along with Blaze's elegance as a princess, this purple cat can mix up kicks with ballet to aid her in delivering both precise and strong attacks to her opponents. Blaze is a tactical fighter when she remains in her element, and takes advantage of precision based attacks on where she deems her enemy to be weakest.

Fighting Skills

Uses a mix of kick based martial arts and ballet

Specialises in precise attacks that target an enemy's weakest points

Focuses on delivering destructive attacks that can effortlessly take down an opponent

Relies heavily on the execution of her elemental techniques

Combines her pyrokinesis and her moves to give her a dynamic range of abilities

Silver: Blaze's pyrokinetics come in handy for such a skillset, and she relies on her elemental control to help deliver destructive blows to her opponents and give her a dynamic range of fighting skills. Similarly fast characters such as Sonic are Blaze's downfall though, as they have the capabilities to land their own quicker strikes before she can pull off her precise ones.

Maverick: So basically Blaze's precision and reliance on execution with her attacks makes them come out as being too slow compared to Sonic and his much more basic fighting moves?

Silver: Essentially yes, however this does not mean that Blaze is slower than Sonic, not by a long shot. Remember, in her first battle with Sonic, Blaze actually held her own with the blue blur pretty well, holding him to a draw. And that's where Blaze's achievements come in.

Feats

Can keep up with the light speed Sonic the Hedgehog in combat

Also matches the blue blur in strength as well

Sealed Iblis within her soul due to her soul's flaming nature

Can hold her own against Iblis in battle, alongside Silver

Has protected the Sol Emeralds from Eggman Nega and his robotic forces several times

Held her own against Sonic the Hedgehog, Iblis, Eggman Nega, Captain Whiskers, Johnny and Metal Overlord

Maverick: Keeping with the whole "matching Sonic" thing for a moment, it was clear that in their original battle Sonic and Blaze struggled to prevail over the other. In Blaze's story, she beat Sonic, but the reverse occurred in Sonic's respective story. Seems like they only fought once, and considering that there's two different versions of the same story, it seems reasonable to say that Blaze and Sonic were equal in combat and that neither truly excelled over the other.

Silver: Now, regarding Sonic the Hedgehog's speed. Recall how in Sonic Unleashed, Sonic's light speed dash can be calculated by the in game speed counter as being over 390SPD. Well, remember the speed of Sonic's boost, which was calculated in game at speeds of over 3519SPD at it's highest. Doing some basic math...

Maverick: Uhhh... let's see... ummmmmm...

Silver: 3,519 divided by 390.

Maverick: I know I know, shut up! Uh...

Silver: That's 9.02 times the speed of light.

Maverick: H-Hey, I knew that!

Silver: Anyway, seeing as Sonic and Blaze were clearly equals in battle, Blaze should be capable of achieving such speeds as well. But remember this, it wasn't just all down to pure speed.

Maverick: Want to know something Sonic did in the comics? And I'm not talking about the alternate continuity of the Archie Comics, I'm talking about the IDW video game tie-in comics. Well, Sonic's strength was so great, that he threw a lance straight through one of Eggman's biggest cannons. Like, he left a giant freaking hole in its torso... or whatever the lower part of a giant turret is called.

Silver: To cause so much damage to such a big piece of weaponry, Sonic's attack power would have needed to equal around 877.81 tons of TNT. For comparison, that's enough power to fall under the multi-city block range. Incredibly powerful indeed!

Maverick: Wow. And this is only base Blaze we're using too. Damn, I never knew she was powerful enough to hold her own against that!

Silver: Well, you better believe it. Too bad for Blaze though, she's not exactly the most perfect princess around.

Flaws

Often prone to bouts of anger

Never make comments about her features or her powers

Often distrusting of allies, having had a history of being lied to during her royal duties

Still only a 14 year old girl

While not inexperienced, she's certainly not as experienced as Sonic

Precise fighting skills can be countered by a fast enough opponent

Maverick: Yeah, her temper for one thing. It goes hand in hand with her fiery abilities, true, but when up against certain opponents this flaw can be taken advantage of. It's often how Eggman Nega occasionally gets the drop on her, though Blaze is quick enough to recover her calm demeanour.

Silver: And this anger, when taking into account Blaze's reliance on the execution of her powers and her precision based fighting style, is not going to do her any favours in a one on one fight, which can explain Sonic briefly finding his way around her skills.

Maverick: At least, until she did the same to him.

Silver: Well yeah, sure. While on the topic of Sonic though, Blaze isn't as experienced as the blue blur. Of course, she's younger than Sonic, but at the same time she's also had to deal with threats much more occasionally than the hedgehog. Alone though, Blaze works better than Sonic, but overall she's nowhere near as experienced.

Maverick: I mean she's still just a 14 year old girl, I'm pretty sure she can't always be at the top of her game. Still, take what you want away from Blaze's skills, there's no denying that she's one of Sonic's strongest allies.

Silver: Definitely. Even with her temper, Blaze eventually managed to open up to Sonic and his friends, becoming an key member of Sonic's team. She may prefer working solo, but even when alone Blaze the Cat is certainly a worthy guardian to the Sol Emeralds!

I am the guardian of the Sol Emeralds... It is a fate that forces me to live with my curse, my flames... Because of my powers, I have always been alone... It's also why I must do this alone! It is my responsibility!

Weiss Schnee[]

Silver: In the world of Remnant, a Great War had just occurred between the world's four kingdoms went to battle in a massive war longer than any ever seen, all connecting to the monstrous creatures known as Grimm that threatened the life of the world's inhabitants.

Maverick: I know the Great War! The one where Mobians and Overlanders went to war that resulted in Dr. Robotnik's rise to power. When was that in Remnant?

Silver: Um... wrong franchise buddy, that's Sonic.

Maverick: Oh, whoops.

Silver: Well, you're sort of on the right track with a party's rise to power. Enter the Schnee Dust Company, a company founded by Nicolas Schnee which specialised in mining, manufacturing and distributing a unique elemental substance known as Dust across the world. Overtime, once Nicolas' time had passed, he offered up the company to Jacques Schnee, a...

Maverick: Rich business man who slimed his way to the top of the company. Yeah, this guy married into the family, and at the same time inherited the fortune the company had made from passing around this weaponized stuff around Remnant. And like any rich businessman, Jaques needed heirs to continue on his rotten legacy as the snooty dominant force above all others. You had three to pick from, but out of them all today, we're looking at Weiss Schnee!

Background

Age: 17 years old to 19 years old, depending on the Volume

Based upon Snow White

Name is literally "White Snow" when translated from German

Former heir to the Schnee Dust Company

Now a huntress-in-training

Silver: Weiss was the middle child of the Schnee family, and her upbringing was a very difficult one. For starters, her father and the company had an ongoing war with the Faunus extremist group, the White Fang. Such tensions plagued Weiss' childhood, but everything would change when one day Weiss would happen to find out a troublesome problem.

Maverick: Yep, turns out that Colonel Schnee over here only married into the family for the name and it's fortune, like every guy hungry for money. Weiss, obviously taking this incredibly hard, sulked it out for a few years, until one day she decided to say "fuck you" to her father's awful legacy.

Silver: Understandably not wanting to inherit from her father, Weiss decided to run away from her home and head off to Beacon Academy, a school where teenagers like her would train to become Huntresses and Hunters.

Maverick: Dedicating their lives to slaying those horrible Grimm monsters we brought up earlier. Remember them? Yeah.

Silver: Thus, wanting to carve her own legacy, Weiss was drafted by the staff at the school into a four girl team, consisting of sibling duo Ruby Rose and Yang Xiao Long, along with a former White Fang member known as Blake Belladonna. Together, this team of huntresses would become known as Team... RWBY.

Maverick: With Weiss being the W in the team. Wait... but ruby is spelled with a "u". Meh, fictional universes I guess. Anyway, Weiss' role in RWBY was as the serious, no nonsense member of the group, and thanks to prior training from her older sister Winter, Weiss was one of the more prepared students at Beacon. And her swordfighting abilities, boy are they top class!

Silver: All thanks to Weiss' skill with her multi-purpose rapier, Myrtenaster.

Myrtenaster

A multi-purpose revolver/rapier

Carries 6 vials of Dust, coloured red, blue, yellow, cyan, white and purple

These correspond to Fire, Ice, Lightning, Hard-Light, Wind and Gravity

Is incredibly durable even against tough foes

Runs on limited Dust ammo that Weiss can replace by opening it up

Can switch between Dust with a spin of the chamber

Maverick: 'Ol Myrtenaster here, like my partner brought up, is a multi-purpose rapier, which Weiss can use just like a typical sword. But this is RWBY, and where the "multi-purpose" comes into play. Myrtenaster comes equipped with a revolver chamber full of Dust, which we established earlier was a substance used for powering weaponry. As the former heiress to the company that distributes the stuff, obviously Weiss is ready with a lot of it!

Silver: Thankfully they're all colour coded for your convenience, so it's quite easy to pick one out from a list. Starting off is the red dust, which is Fire Dust. With this stuff ready, Weiss can fire off waves of fire towards her chosen targets in the form of sword slashes, or alternatively she can blast off fire shots like fireballs, which are great for ranged combat.

Maverick: Then we get into Weiss' main Dust of choice, the Ice Dust. This blue charge to Myrtenaster is capable of allowing Weiss to fire off and cover the grounds around her into spiky ice crystals, which can trap opponents, impale them, pretty much anything large, sharp blades of ice can do. She can even cover the ground in ice for slipping up opponents! She should open an ice skating rink one day, there's good non-discriminatory money in that!

Silver: Lightning on the other hand, at least in terms of Weiss' usage of it, is... uncertain. Weiss hasn't exactly used it in close combat yet, so it's capabilities under her power remain a little bit of a mystery.

Maverick: And I doubt we're ever going to see it because this is RWBY, the most inconsistent and forgetful series I think I have ever seen.

Silver: Well, who knows. Maybe the extended media will utilise it in some way shape or form. Still, moving on, Weiss' Cyan Dust is Hard-Light, and with it Weiss can create a shield made entirely out of light which, as you'd expect, shields her from attacks. Alternatively, Weiss can use said light to clear some room for herself if she's outnumbered and surrounded.

Maverick: Moving on to Wind Dust, Weiss can use this ability to create whirlwinds that can help to deflect and return ranged attacks, including the likes of weaponized sound waves. And finally we have the Gravity Dust, which... Weiss doesn't do anything with either. Jeez, you'd think they'd have shown these skills off already. That's the problem with lazy writing folks.

Silver: What isn't lazy though is Weiss ability to juggle her use of Dust with her natural abilities, most notably her Aura and her Semblance.

Maverick: Aura first, because that stuff is simple!

Aura

A manifestation of a user's soul

Mainly defensive, and acts as some form of a shield

Can be fired offensively, in the form of a shockwave

Grants extrasensory perception, and can also be used for healing

Aura is limited, and foes of comparable power can wear it down easily, though it can be recovered overtime

Silver: Aura, to put it simply, is a manifestation of a user's soul. NOT a Stand, before you open your mouth Maverick, but more a shield like effect that can also be used offensively in the form of shockwaves as demonstrated by other users. It also allows users to sense if they're being watched, or extrasensory perception, as Pyrrha explained early on in the series. Useful for sneak attacks, definitely.

Maverick: The problem with Aura is that its limited. Anyone else with comparable strength to the user can wear Aura down easily, and without Aura Weiss can't use the next skill on our list, her Semblance.

Semblance: Glyphs

A secondary power fuelled by Aura

Weiss' Semblance allows her to summon Glyphs

Glyphs allow Weiss to use them as vertical surfaces

Can be combined with Dust to grant Weiss extra abilities, including the forgotten Lightning and Gravity Dust

No Aura means no Semblance usage, as it runs entirely on Aura

Silver: Running entirely on the Aura of a user, a Semblance is an extended part of said soul based power. In Weiss' case, her Semblance is the ability to summon Glyphs, which can be combined with Weiss' Dust to become more advantageous to Weiss' current battle.

Maverick: Basic Glyphs work like surfaces Weiss can stand on, barriers she can use as shields, or even springboards allowing her to shoot off towards a chosen target. And by fusing the thing with Ice Dust, Weiss can straight up freeze a person over and cause them to shatter, or she can pierce you and finish you off that way!

Silver: With Gravity Dust...

Maverick: Wait but I thought-

Silver:...Weiss can create Glyphs that accelerate projectiles, augment her attacks, force enemies into being stuck in anti-gravity, allow her to run across vertical and upside-down surfaces, or even restrain an opponent within the Glyph for Weiss to finish them off. To put it short, Gravity Glyphs are far more useful than the Dust on their own, and that rings true for the Lightning Glyphs.

Maverick: Lightning Dust and Weiss' Semblance together gives the girl the ability of Time Dilation. With this in use, Weiss' speed, or the speed of one of her targets, increases to give off the impression that time is being slowed by Weiss. Very useful for keeping pace with her teammates and faster opponents, and makes her forgotten Dust into her most dangerous.

Silver: And then there's the Hard-Light Glyph, which allows Weiss to launch curving waves of energy and suspend a target in mid-air, but this isn't the last of her Semblance. With a certain Glyph, Weiss can summon versions of foes she has previously defeated in combat. Like the Queen Lancer, a giant hornet, the Boarbatusk, a Sonic Spin Dashing boar, and finally the Arma Gigas, a giant armoured sword user that, while slow, specialises in hard hitting strikes.

Maverick: The bee thingy can also fire out its stinger like a harpoon, and the Boarbatusk, like we described it, can spin like Sonic towards an opponent. Now, while Weiss theoretically could summon other creatures like the various Grimm she has taken down, so far she's only summoned these three monsters, and there's still some room for her to learn how to summon more than one at once, much like her sister Winter can.

Silver: So Weiss can summon creatures, manipulate gravity and the elements, and has a spiritual shield protecting her. Overall, an incredibly impressive moveset, and an incredibly impressive resume to match!

Feats

Comparable to her teammates and friends, one of which (Sun) can dodge Mach 11 lightning breath

By using the surrounding ocean to aid her, Weiss damaged a giant mecha, worth over 174.2 tons of TNT

Spamming Glyphs allowed her to avoid sound blasts from Flynt, which should be faster than Mach 6

Held her own against various Grimm and other Hunters and Huntresses

Arguably one of the most skilled of Team RWBY

Maverick: Oh definitely buddy! Weiss, being arguably the most skilled of her team, is comparable to characters like Blake and Sun. And no, not the Sun Wukong of myth, we mean the cheap dollar store version.

Silver: Well, I would try to avoid using that term to describe someone who had to intercept the lightning breath of the Sea Feilong. Now, considering that this attack was not natural lighting, it would be reasonable to assume that it doesn't match the typical speed of lightning. However, to Sun's credit, this feat was still incredibly impressive to pull off, putting him at speeds of over Mach 11.

Maverick: And even if Weiss isn't comparable, one time in the obligatory "tournament arc"... which wasn't really a tournament arc, but still, Weiss had to spam the usage of her Glyphs to avoid attacks from some music man. Said speeds would have to extend to upwards of Mach 6! Damn, Weiss is actually faster than I thought. And I thought Ruby was the speedster of the group!

Silver: Remember though, Weiss isn't just all speed. When using her Ice Dust, Weiss once managed to violently stun this giant mech. By using the ocean around her to her advantage, and increasing her Ice Dust's capabilities as a result, Weiss had to be outputting over 174 tons worth of TNT.

Maverick: Whoa. Isn't she like, a high school girl? How in the hell do high schoolers in fiction get so incredibly powerful!?

Silver: Who knows, but still, while her strength and her speed is something to marvel at, don't go under the impression that Weiss' skill and upbringing make her the perfect princess she once though she was.

Flaws

Very self-centered and arrogant

Acts quite snooty and blunt

Can't summon more than one monster at once

Can be hot headed and get herself into trouble

Using Semblance depletes Aura, and it takes quite some time to return

Maverick: I'm being generous here when I say that Weiss... is kind of a bitch. Yeah, she looks down upon others because of the relevance of her family name, though I fail to see why she throws it about if she's so ashamed of it.

Silver: And alongside that Weiss is also very hot headed.

Maverick: Probably been sniffing up too much of that Fire Dust, am I right? Heh heh.

Silver: Don't even go there Maverick. Anyway, along with her personality flaws, Weiss also has a few issues related to her abilities too. For example, the Dust that she uses, like her Aura, comes in limited supply. Weiss often has to juggle the use of her Semblance, Aura, Dust and sword, all while being able to formulate quick plans and react to attacks. All of this at once against a decently quick opponent can catch her off, so she needs to be on guard at all times.

Maverick: But she's a teenage girl. Probably on her phone or something texting her boyfriend. I know the girls at high school were like that.

Silver: Maverick, we're Reploids, we never went to high... whatever, the point is that Weiss isn't perfect. However, don't let that fool you, underestimating Weiss Schnee is probably the last thing you want to do.

Maverick: Weiss is a well trained huntress, the very very last thing you want to do is to even approach her to fight, because you're gonna get frozen and shattered in no time!

"I'm not siding with anyone. I'm doing what I feel is right, and that does not include wasting my time up here with these clueless people in Atlas. The Schnee family legacy isn't yours to leave. It's mine, and I'll do it as a Huntress!"

Death Battle[]

Blaze vs Weiss interlude (Maverick)

Silver: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities.

Maverick: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!!!

Schnee Dust Company Dust Storage, 14:00, 4th November 20XX

The storage room full of wooden crates that held the ammunition of Remnant within its confines rested easy in the eyes of the many guards hired by the infamous Schnee Dust Company to prevent unwarranted guests from snatching its supplies. Boxes full of the Dust that powered the world's weapons sat in large towers within the corners of the warehouse, even more guarded than they usually would be. And such a big number of guards were necessary today, for a new strain of Dust had been stumbled upon much earlier on this very day.

Not long after a recent issue regarding a Faunus protest that took the lives of several key Schnee Dust Company employees and Faunus along with them, guards of the entire Schnee estate followed the signs of a dimensional rift disrupting the entire area. Upon reaching the source of the trouble, said guards happened to have found seven different coloured gems, all squared and teeming with great power. Upon informing the head of the company, Jacques Schnee, the company's team were ordered to put these new, more powerful Dust crystals in something dubbed the "super lockdown", which included the vast majority of the available guards watching over the seven gems alongside the large collection of Dust within the company's Dust storage unit.

Up to twenty guards had been hired to watch over the room, ten times more than the usual duo that did the deed. Occasionally, the head's eldest daughter would arrive to use some of the Dust herself, but aside from that, things were pretty quiet. Unfortunately for the resting guards, who didn't have their work cut out for them given that barely anyone was informed, things were going to take a turn for the worse.

And that's where the forest cuts in. Footsteps trudged along the gravel path leading to the containment building, the sounds giving off the impression that said footsteps came from high heels. Such an assumption would be correct, as along the road walked a cat girl. Her tail was extending from behind, and the clothing she wore looked to be of royal fabrics and designs. With her hair tied back and her ears blowing in the soft winds, it was revealed that this girl, hailing from another dimension, was Blaze the Cat.

As it just so happens, Blaze was among the lost items that had been brought to this strange new world by the dimensional rifts mentioned earlier. Not too long ago, Blaze was in her Burning Blaze form, laying waste to Eggman Nega's machines as she was empowered by the seven mystical Sol Emeralds that sustained her world. Unfortunately, her anger was overloading her with Sol Energy, which wiped her and the emeralds away in a flash. Upon waking up in the branches of a tree, knocked out of her Super form by both the impact of the crash and the overloading of the Sol Emeralds, Blaze examined her new location, determining that this place was a whole new world.

"That's the last time I let Eggman Nega get the best of my anger" Blaze quietly muttered to herself, thinking about the events that had led her to this problem. "Whatever triggered the Sol Emeralds to dimensionally teleport me here must've taken Eggman Nega with it as well. I must find those Sol Emeralds before he does, otherwise the consequences on this world and my own will be dire." For Blaze, it was a shame that she couldn't have been sent to Sonic's world instead. As reluctant as she would've been, at least Sonic was a friendly face she could trust. Here... she didn't even know where she was, let alone who was around her.

Thankfully though, Blaze had found this one giant storage unit. "Perhaps a place of rest might work out for a while" she said, continuing her walk forward. However, Blaze halted in place, just out of sight of the guards standing by the door. "Should've known. The Emeralds... are in that room. I can sense their presence." the princess noted, jumping up to the high branches of a nearby tree. "I don't suppose those armed guards would be welcoming of an outsider approaching them. If I must use brute force... 'sigh', I shall." Blaze said, reluctantly admitting what she had to do.

Hopping down from her watching point, Blaze continued her walk as if she hadn't stopped in the first place. The guards, who were carrying Dust powered rifles, suddenly aimed their weapons up at the cat.

"It's a Faunus!"

"Stay right where you are!"

Blaze kept strolling forward, prompting the guards to fire their shots accordingly. Blaze began dashing forward at incredible speeds, hopping over the blasts, dodging left and then right in a zigzag, before finally throwing herself forward and striking one of the guards right through the steel walls with a perfect spinning kick, before hopping off his chest and homing kicking the other one directly in the side of the face, pushing him aside and knocking him unconscious. The guards inside the building cried out lines such as "What the hell!?" and "It must be the work of an enemy attack!" the latter getting looks of disappointment from the fellow soldiers. What got their attention back though was a sign of things to come.

The giant gaping hole in the steel building was being burned to a crisp, opening the gap steadily every second. However, there was no one in the guards' line of sight, and that was because Blaze was taking cover behind the walls, slowly burning up her hand to melt away the flames. What happened next caught the employees entirely off guard, with Blaze repeating her process as before, spin kicking the first guard before bouncing off his chest as he crashed into the crates of Dust, the latter of which scattered across the ground. The seventeen remaining decided to start firing rapid fire, but Blaze, after roundhouse kicking the second guard and causing him to crash into crates too, was too fast on her feet. She effortlessly dodged each of the hundreds of shots, before taking each guard down one by one, either through her own combat such as high kicks to the face, burning punches or drill kicks, or by getting the guards to mistakenly fire at each other and incapacitate one another.

Blaze had counted only fifteen extras taken down along with the four from before, so immediately she used the side wall as a platform to jump on to a support beam hanging off the ceiling. In walked the final guard, as Blaze was expecting, who immediately proclaimed "HOLY SHI-" only to be swiftly taken out by Blaze delivering a sharp karate chop to the pressure point in the back of his neck, having dropped silently behind him. As soon as the final man had collapsed face first into the ground (his face was heavily armoured, don't worry), Blaze snarkily responded with "Holy shit indeed." before walking over to the destroyed storage boxes. The first one carried the yellow Sol Emerald, which Blaze picked up and pocketed away before moving towards the next stack that she sensed an emerald in.

However, her search was immediately postponed, as the voice of a teenage girl echoed behind her. "Just what in the hell are you doing!?"

Blaze turned around to see a girl standing by the space where steel used to sit before it was disintegrated entirely. Said girl had her snow white hair tied back, her ponytail reaching halfway down her back, and she was wearing a dress on the same level of quality as Blaze. This prompted Blaze to question if she was royalty herself, but considering she had her sword out and pointed straight at the cat, the Sol Dimension princess quickly shot that idea down and treated this girl with the same level of hostility as she would to anyone else. "Whatever you're wanting from me, you can immediately forget about it. I have to return home, and the Sol Emeralds are the only way I can do so. Now, excuse me."

The girl switched her sword to a red vial, and blasted the crate Blaze was approaching apart. The Sol Emerald within slid right to the teen's feet, as she picked it up and examined it. "I don't know if you're delusional, but these are definitely Dust crystals! And said Dust crystals belong to the Schnee Dust Company, so I have every right to see you trialled for this act. Don't even think about running away." she firmly told the princess, who stood her ground. "You... you take me for a coward? Know your place." the cat girl retorted.

Blaze's adversary, in absolute disgust, immediately went on ranting to Blaze for her insulting comment. "Know my place!? Don't you know who I am!?"

"I have no interest, now hand me that emerald and-"

"I am Weiss Schnee, and those gems are property of the Schnee Dust Company. Let me reiterate that, as the family of the owner, I have every right to see you trialled for this act. So place those crystals back where they belong, and I can assure you the worst you'll be is fined!" Weiss explained to the angrily growing royalty in front of her. Blaze knew that she had to get some formalities out of the way, so she herself introduced herself to Weiss. "Well then, Weiss, I am Blaze the Cat, princess of the Sol Dimension. As the princess, I myself have every right to trial you myself for the act of defying the orders of the royal family. This is your world, so I'll set that aside this once, but if I have to I will use brute force."

"If I don't have a choice, neither shall you!"

Weiss and Blaze, after their trades, ran towards one another with a battle ready look in both their eyes, plans having been made up in their minds based upon what they knew about each other thus far. With everything ready, the battle for the Sol Emeralds could finally commence!

FIGHT!!!

Blaze was first to try and land a strike, jumping high into the air to deliver a high heel to Weiss' face. The Huntress was trained better than to let a cheap move like that connect, so in a flash she got Blaze to land her kick on the face of the blade, which Weiss held above her face to protect her. "Woah... that speed!" Weiss exclaimed in awe, realising that Blaze was a speedster. However, Weiss had no time to gasp at fast opponents, first she had to push Blaze away and clear some room. As she was anticipating, Blaze wasn't that heavy compared to foes she had faced in the past, so pushing Blaze off was actually easier than she was originally expecting. Speaking of expecting, it seemed as though Blaze was expecting Weiss to resort to such as defensive move, as she performed a gymnastic like backflip off the blade before elegantly landing on the ground.

"Hey, that's not pretty bad." Weiss complemented her rival, who slightly smiled only to drop said grin, as Weiss slashed her sword to the left. Blaze used her smaller height to her advantage, ducking down under the swing before jumping back to avoid the slash in the opposite direction, as Weiss returned her blade to sit upright in front of her face. Reeling her arm back, she thrust forward trying to pierce Blaze in the chest, but the princess also knew better. Stepping to her left side, she dodged the piercing motion, and grabbed Weiss' right arm, swinging her around in a half circle motion before throwing the heiress forward. To finish her counter off, Blaze drill kicked Weiss in the back, forcing her forward on to the floor.

Much like was to be expected of her, Weiss turned the fall into a graceful forward roll which left her kneeling down on her left knee. Upon thinking about what Blaze's following move might be, Weiss swiftly turned around and used Myrtenaster to stop Blaze's airborne Axel Jump from striking her in the face. Unfortunately for Weiss though, she was far too slow, but that didn't count her out entirely. Blaze's eyes fired wide in shock as her kick, which was supposed to have sent a heel into Weiss' forehead, had been stopped by some form of an invisible force. "What the..." Blaze tried to stammer, only to be silenced as Weiss used her Aura in an offensive shockwave, blasting Blaze's kick away and sending the princess higher into the air.

Weiss got to her feet and brought a glyph down to the ground. Using it to boost herself high into the air, Weiss then made sure that she had a horizontal springboard to connect her feet with and bounce off of, and once she did both, Blaze was suddenly about to be in grave danger. But to Weiss amazement, Blaze placed her arm out to the side and readied a blast of fire, which she shot to the side, propelling her to the left as a result. Weiss adapted to the new change of position, using her third glyph against the other wall to give her something to impale. Stabbing her rapier into the glyph, Weiss held on as she dropped to the ground below, landing on her feet and surviving what could've been a fatal impact.

Looking down, Blaze saw Weiss had found a way back to the ground, and dropped herself down accordingly. Face to face with her opponent again, Blaze blasted forward with a fire enhanced kick. However, the cat princess was forced to halt her attack as Weiss rotated the slots on her sword to the red Dust vial and like her own opening attack, Weiss slashed the blade to the side in an attempt to strike Blaze down with a wave of fire. It connected, much to Weiss' surprise, but that shock wasn't to subside, as Weiss saw the fire swirl around Blaze. "Wait, she can control fire!?" the huntress exclaimed, with Blaze readying a blast of fire combined with her adversary's Dust.

Said blast was fired at unthinkable speeds, with Weiss needing to act fast to avoid being burned to a crisp. The revolver chamber of Myrtenaster was turned by its master, who made sure to equip the perfect counter to a flaming burst. Yelling out a battle cry, Weiss created a giant wall of ice straight from Myrtenaster, which completely blocked Blaze's burst of flaming energy. "Darn it, she can control the elements." Blaze made sure to inform herself, as Weiss replied with "I know, pretty cool, right!?" as she emerged from over the ice wall, diving towards Blaze while simultaneously rotating around, ready to drive the tip of her rapier right through Blaze's chest.

Blaze, to her luck, slid backwards as Weiss' sword caught itself in the ground. Speedily recovering her weapon, Weiss realised she had a decent range over Blaze, meaning it was time for action. Fire wouldn't work, so more ice was a necessary alternative. Weiss whipped her rapier forwards repeatedly, firing giant crystals of ice towards Blaze. The cat took the needed moves to avoid such large blasts, neatly executing a backflip before planting her feet firmly on the massive shards. What Weiss saw next impressed even her, as Blaze's speed allowed her to hop from one ice piece to the next, before finally she performed an Axel Tornado that propelled her midair, before she used her Fire Claw to slash at Weiss' face.

The homing cat's attacks almost found their way to their target, but the Aura of Weiss... wasn't necessary at all. In fact, Weiss herself had protected herself against the cat's claws, deflecting each swing with the face of her own blade. Blaze hopped back almost immediately as she landed, hoping to clear some space between her and the girl, but she crashed into a Glyph Weiss had set up behind her. Looking up, Blaze saw several more Glyphs even higher in the air, and once seeing that they were parallel to each other, she immediately guessed Weiss' next move.

The member of Team RWBY catapulted off the first Glyph, sending Blaze higher into the air upon contact, before bouncing off the slightly diagonal second Glyph, which seen her crashing into Blaze again, and the same strategy repeated until Blaze had reached the very top of the Glyph trap. Weiss was about to launch herself off the final Glyph, but saw Blaze rotating as if she was doing a flip backwards... again. Knowing how fast Blaze could be from prior attacks, Weiss had to make sure she reached Blaze before she had rotated around entirely, so she turned her sword's chamber straight to Lightning Dust, and combining that with her final Glyph, Weiss' vision of time slowed to a crawl.

Right as soon as Blaze was about to face upright again and deliver her attack to Weiss, the huntress sliced Blaze's lower body horizontally, forcing the cat slightly backwards as a result of the forces pushing against the princess, before she did exactly what Blaze tried earlier, this time delivering a heel right to her chest.

Weiss' perception of time returned to normal, having calmed down the use of her Semblance to decrease Aura usage, and as she fell to the ground, ready to land, Blaze's body crashed into the concrete ground. Dust, (both the Dust ammo and actual, proper dust) covered the area of vision Weiss would've had after turning around. However, even if she had thought that Blaze was down, she couldn't focus on that just yet. Crackling sounds and sparking began to fill her ears, and knowing the capabilities of Dust, she began to cover herself with her arms to brace for impact.

BANG BANG BANG BANG!!!

Weiss was sent slamming into the back wall, falling to the ground facing the concrete flooring. The smoke took time to clear, but once it started to do so, Weiss tilted her head up to see a silhouette of a certain feline facing her direction. "Something like that was my doing, Miss Schnee." Blaze told her foe through the smoke. "The stuff that you call "Dust" didn't exactly amplify my power, in fact it more or less shielded the true impact, but..."

"You let your guard down regardless."

Weiss was stunned as the next thing she saw was Blaze, surrounded by a shield of fire, rushing towards her at such speeds she couldn't comprehend. Eventually, at least what seemed like a full minute to Weiss which was only a brief moment for Blaze, the downed girl was soundly kicked in the face by Blaze, literally lifting her off the ground and causing her to smash into the steel walls, heavily denting them as a result. Then she collapsed again, as Blaze looked down at her opponent. "I said it once, I'll say it one more time..."

"Hand me that emerald!" she firmly reiterated to the former heiress, who started getting increasingly angry. "For the last time, it's a Dust crystal!"

"What?" was the last thing Blaze said, as Weiss suddenly got airlifted by a giant white hornet creature who just came crashing through the ceiling. "Who's the one that let their guard down now, flame princess!?"

Blaze looked around to see the wasp landing on the ground behind her, with Weiss, while slightly dazed, still being capable of standing on her own. "Now then, flame princess, how about we make this a three on one?" Weiss giggled, a surge of cockiness starting to rush to her head. As the wasp disappeared, Weiss summoned a giant white boar to her side, and immediately it started rolling into a ball. "I've only got a few shots at this" Weiss' head told her to avoid revealing a flaw to Blaze. "I only have one shot with Boarbatusk and Arma Gigas, and then it's all Glyph work from here on out."

While it was true that juggling her Aura, using her Semblance, defending herself and summoning allies was taxing for Weiss, the teen knew she could handle it, just as long as she took precaution and didn't strain herself. She didn't have time to think though, as Boarbatusk shot off towards Weiss' target, notably being Blaze, who started questioning Boarbatusk's move. "Is that the..."

SLAM!!!

Weiss opened her eyes to see Blaze lying lifeless on the ground, but to her dismay she only saw Blaze and Boarbatusk locked in a battle between the supposed Spin Dash and the Fire Boost. Weiss ran as fast as her legs could carry her, taking the initiative and jumping on to the boar's back, before using her Gravity Glyph to catapult herself so high in the air that she could've sworn a lock of her hair touched the support beams attached to the undamaged part of the ceiling. Blaze was getting ready for a double team attack, but against her hypothesis Weiss instead landed behind Blaze and used her Glyphs to hold Blaze in place, much to the cat's horror. "Boarbatusk, now!" Weiss commanded, as the creature uncurled, hopped back, and began charging a spin attack again. Blaze struggled, and she struggled hard, but...

Weiss looked in amazement yet unrivalled terror as Blaze's flames started burning around her body, weakening the Glyph's hold on her. Once she broke free, the pyrokinetic royalty dived to the right, the Boarbatusk instead getting ready to crash into Weiss instead. Weiss wasn't one to let a cheap trick put her out of commission, so using her regular Glyph she jumped high into the air and landed on the spinning Grimm copy. Running to balance herself, once Weiss gained an upper hand, she hopped straight off the thing and safely planted herself back on the grounds of the storage unit, the Boarbatusk leaving her behind to collapse some trees before he safely left back to where Weiss summoned him from.

Schnee was about to proclaim her return and prepare her next attack, but Blaze was red hot and covered with fire now, and in a large blast of heat and flames, she tried literally roasting Weiss to death. The high school rich girl was quick to adapt, as per usual, and prepared her Ice Dust at the first time of asking and erected a massive ice wall that extended far beyond the giant gap in the ceiling of the building. The flames emerging from the sides were slowly pushing Weiss back, but her resilience was not one to subside, and Weiss pushed back until the heat died.

Once it did, Weiss breathed a sigh of relief, but she was taken aback by the sounds of a charging laser, which was revealed to be Blaze equipping the Laser Wisp. "Perhaps these Wisps that tagged along might be useful." the dimensional traveller silently told herself, as the Hyper Go-On Energy within her turned her into a literal laser that shot through the wall of frozen water with ease. The power stopped as soon as the wall shattered thanks to the impact, and a stunned Weiss was left face to face with a determined Blaze, who placed her left foot behind her and started to boost!

All of a sudden, Weiss was pushed aside by a massive suit of armour wielding a massive sword, which pushed against the boosting girl and held her off. Recovering on to her feet, Weiss watched as the Arma Gigas took its place in front of its master, who smiled as she herself took a step back. She couldn't retain the Gigas for too long, as her Semblance was close to depleting her Aura, but as long as Blaze didn't find a way through before Weiss could attack, the former heiress would be fine to keep going. But Blaze was crafty, and hopped atop the sword before boosting up it. The Arma Gigas tried lifting its hand up to squash Blaze like a bug, but the feline was much too fast as she reached the top of his head. Facing the top side of the building, which unlike its lower half was still mostly intact, Blaze rushed off the Arma Gigas' head, used the metal wall as a spring and bounced back towards the Gigas again, this time kicking it straight in the face with the sharp end of her heel striking first.

The summon's head came clean off its body, as both the decapitated armour and the disembodied head shattered, almost leaving Weiss speechless as she dived out of the way of a giant shard that almost impaled her. "One more fatal blow and my Aura's done for. Time to finish this!" Weiss thought over in her head, brushing herself off as she peered through the gaping hole in the wall and strolled inside. Looking back at the massive white pieces that once made up her summon, Weiss approached Blaze, who had made a safe landing back in the center of the room. "You've been holding back, haven't you?" Weiss questioned her enemy, who didn't even blink as she silently nodded. Before Weiss could get another word out though, the two girls let their adrenaline get the better of them, and rushed towards each other to end the long fought battle.

Weiss tried swinging to the left, and followed that up with a right swing, but Blaze dodged each attack while Weiss repeated the same move a few extra times. Realising that being entirely on the offence inhibited her defence, Weiss was forced into drawing back her anger, which Blaze quickly took note of. Weiss was now deflecting high kicks from Blaze, with the final scissor kick being held back by Myrtenaster, dropping Blaze to the ground in an instant. Thankfully Blaze was incredibly fast, and using her hands she cartwheeled backwards away from Weiss, narrowly avoiding a stabbing motion the would've killed her had she not been careful. But this change in tactics was something Blaze found... peculiar.

"She must be harbouring a weakness. The lack of usage of her abilities... it's limited." Blaze remembered to take note to herself, clearly not falling for a huge change in approach from her opponent. To Weiss, it was an attempt to survive, to Blaze, it was her chance to go all out. Weiss cried out a battle cry, as once more she tried impaling Blaze with her sword, but against her knowledge, due to Blaze blasting at her absolute highest speed, the cat princess had made her way around Weiss' attack and even Weiss herself to wrap her right arm around her neck and bring Weiss' back down on her knee. The sound of screaming, painful screaming, combined with a sharp crack, told Blaze that her opponent's back was snapped in two, and lifting her facing up into the air with two hands, Blaze threw Weiss high.

Hopping into the air alongside her opponent, Blaze took the first opportunity to send Weiss crashing back down into the floor with an overhead kick, cracking apart the entire storage room floor as she did so. An impact of this strength sent Weiss slightly airborne, barely hovering a few feet above the ground, but this was enough time for Blaze to spin incredibly fast to the point where she was entirely ignited in flames, and with a flame boosted roundhouse, Blaze slammed her heel into Weiss' chest, flying the girl incredibly far. Going and going went the second member of Team RWBY, a blazing trail following jer, until her final, speechless moments and subsequently her life was cut short, a lone tree branch impaling her through the chest and ending her immediately upon impact. The tree slowly burned to a crisp as Blaze planted her feet firmly on to the ground, where she breathed a short sigh of relief.

Spotting the final Sol Emeralds that were once housed inside the now decimated crates, Blaze dusted off her relics and strolled out of the once firmly guarded storage unit. All the guards were either scattered across the outside, or had suffered similar fates to Weiss, but none of that was really any of Blaze's concern. All she was concerned about was finding a way back home, and now she had found one. The forest behind the area was slowly burning to a crisp, with Weiss' corpse among them, as Blaze disappeared into the path she had entered from.

"What a waste." Blaze told herself, leaving the scene of the recent past behind her. Hopefully that time would be the last time, though she couldn't help but feel that she had been in that situation with the same girl before.

Results[]

Maverick: H-holy shit, Weiss just got a dose of the Tomb Raider reboot! Ha, now you know how it feels to be Lara Croft!

Silver: Huh, I guess it was pretty reminiscent of Tomb Raider, wasn't it. But we are not here to marvel over the shocking death, which when comparing the stats of Blaze and Weiss, really shouldn't have come off as a shock at all. Before we get into raw numbers and stats though, let's see how their range of abilities could potentially shape the results.

Maverick: While it was true that Weiss had the capabilities of better elemental variety in her moveset, the main problem holding the chick down was her Aura. While Weiss' Aura was certainly a key component in potentially snatching a victory, said Aura and the boosts that go alongside it are incredibly limited, the latter being pretty much because of said Aura.

Silver: To explain how, let's go over the issues of Weiss' Aura first. As you would probably know, Aura is the thing that empowers a user's Semblance, in this case Weiss' Glyphs. Weiss' first problem was controlling the usage of her Semblance in conjunction with her Aura. Not only is Weiss reliant on the balance of all four factors, her Glyphs, summons, Aura defences and her own offence/defence skills, but she's not been the best at keeping control of all four at once and thus a steady supply of Aura ready for use.

Maverick: Now, look at Blaze. Alongside the fact that her flames aren't, y'know, limited as she can easily create as much as she wants, when she wants, Blaze's only main drawback was her reliance on attacking weak points and performing specific actions to land the most punishing attacks she can throw. With a lot less to mix up, Blaze is bound to have an easier time finding a way around Weiss than Weiss would against her.

Silver: Now don't get us wrong, Weiss is certainly more versatile than Blaze, and that is a huge advantage in her favour, but considering that said versatility is entirely connected to that one same limited pool of energy, while Blaze has less to work but with for next to no cost, the princess more than definitely gained the upper hand when factoring in Weiss' limitations. After all, quantity doesn't always equal quality!

Maverick: But Silver, regarding the Aura. Surely it couldn't be worn down fast enough by Weiss' usage alone, right? How come it wouldn't be as much of a problem even for Blaze?

Silver: See, that brings us to an extra drag down for Weiss' Aura. Aura in RWBY can be used in a defensive nature, correct?

Maverick: Right!

Silver: Well, recall how Aura works. It can be lessened by a user using a lot of their Semblance, or it can be drained through attacks from people with comparable strength. That slides nicely into the main downfall in Weiss' chances, speed and strength.

Maverick: Weiss' time dilation through her Semblance could be a saving grace for Weiss. When using said dilation coming straight from Weiss herself, Blake Belladonna, Weiss' teammate, could perform a defensive feat putting her over Mach 22. That's actually some pretty impressive shit, and one thing Weiss could do to close the gap!

Silver: But against someone like Blaze, that's all futile in the end.

Maverick: Alright, here comes the "Sonic is lightspeed" reasoning. First off, in Sonic Unleashed Sonic could clearly outrun his Light Speed Dash. Now you might be going "but why would Sonic use the Light Speed Attacks if he can already move at the speed of light, what's the point". Well, let Silver explain.

Silver: As you are probably aware of, the Light Speed Attack is clearly labelled as an "attack". Now Sonic running regularly is obviously not an attack, and running into enemies is clearly harmful to Sonic.

Maverick: But what about the Sonic Boost? Surely he doesn't need the LSA and LSD, don't do drugs kids, if he already has the Boost to do the work for him.

Silver: Except for the fact that the Light Speed Attack and the Sonic Boost are two entirely different moves that have their own uses, the first being usable for pounding large enemies and clearing gaps, and the latter to keep momentum against lesser foes like the usual Motobugs. And through similar logic, we can ask why Mario still uses the Fire Flower if he already has those abilities in his regular moveset.

Maverick: With that out of the way, let's recall Blaze equalling Sonic in Sonic Rush. That's all there is to it, Blaze is considered one of the closest to Sonic in speed alongside the likes of Shadow and Silver, and that battle proves that!

Silver: At her highest, Blaze can run nine times faster than the speed of light much like Sonic, which we explained in her analysis. The speed of light alone is already Mach 881,230, now nine times light speed should be...

Maverick: Oh, oh, Mach 7,931,077! Don't worry, it's simple math, I can handle it.

Silver: That's weird, you struggled in the past... whatever, that's not what matters. The fact is that Blaze, at her absolute highest possible speed, is over 360,500 times faster than Weiss' fastest possible speed. So long story short, Blaze carried a far superior speed edge that time dilation could barely close even if it tried. And lucky Weiss for even having that, minus her dilation she's actually 721,007 times slower.

Maverick: I'm speechless. No really, when you can make a robot speechless, you know you've done something right.

Silver: And that isn't even the half of it, what nailed Weiss' loss down was the strength distance, oh boy that strength distance. Looking back on the feat where Weiss caused the giant mech to stumble. Such a result would require over 174 tons worth of TNT to pull off. In contrast, Blaze has matched Sonic in an all out one on one match.

Maverick: The same Sonic who destroyed that cannon turret just by throwing a lance through the thing like we showed in the analysis that carried over 877.81 tons worth of TNT. That's some throwing arm for a fifteen year old, I gotta say, especially when its over five times stronger than a kid half a decade older than you. C'mon Weiss, get with the new generation!

Silver: That insult was pretty uncalled for, Weiss is still a teenager remember.

Maverick: Yeah, well Weiss was still destroyed in speed and barely outmatched in strength. Whatever, we do need to mention that this was the IDW Sonic comics we got that feat from, a continuation of the game continuity. With that in mind, given that she did beat up Knuckles in Sonic Rush, what would happen if we scaled her to him instead. Just... theoretically, it is pretty much established that Knuckles is the physically strongest of Sonic's friends.

Silver: Well, you might recall that Knuckles' punches are enough to trigger eruptions, in both Sonic Boom and Sonic Heroes. That, like what was determined in Knuckles vs Donkey Kong, came to around about 3.9 megatons of TNT. In comparison to Weiss, that is over, and don't faint here, 24,706 times superior to Weiss' mech shaking feats. And don't forget the context of Weiss' feat in the first place.

Maverick: Yeah, she used the ocean as an added boost to her ice generating to make it that strong in the first place, so the gap is arguably even bigger than before. (Deep breaths) WOW! That is probably the longest result section we have ever had to do. In fact, that's probably a show record! WOOO, tell Aqua and Octo that the girls now have nothing on us!

Silver: Don't get us wrong, Weiss' versatility and things such as her gravity manipulation, time slowing and elemental control would certainly have snatched her the victory against someone comparable, but when her opponent is unfathomably faster and much stronger than her, plus the fact that they had less to hold them back from using the full extent of their abilities, today ill not be the day for this huntress.

Maverick: Yeah, this life is no longer her's. Maybe the mirror mirror on the wall should've told her that she's nowhere near the fairest of them all.

Silver:...

Maverick: Hey, come on, its a good pun. I ain't explaining it but the RWBY fans will get it!

Silver: Oh don't worry, I understand the reference. Anyway, the winner is Blaze the Cat.

Sonic the Hedgehog VS RWBY! These women might seem prim and proper on the surface, but beneath their cold exteriors lie unmatched skill and perseverance. It's fire against ice, as the esteemed guardian takes on the huntress-in-training on DEATH BATTLE!

Blaze VS Weiss is the first episode of DEATH BATTLE! by RoadRollerDio, featuring Blaze the Cat from IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog and Weiss Schnee from RWBY.

Introduction[]

???: Blaze the Cat, esteemed princess of the Sol Dimension!

???: Weiss Schnee, the "Ice Queen" of Team RWBY!

???: Their cold exteriors might seem influenced by their prim and proper upbringings, but don't be fooled; these women are valued warriors of unparalleled skill...

Octo: ...and they'll make the bad guys think twice about challenging them! She's Aqua and I'm Octo!

Aqua: And we're back to analyse their weapons, armour and skills to find out who would win... a DEATH BATTLE!

Blaze[]

(NOTE: The information below pertains to IDW Publishing's version of the character. For the sake of fairness, feats and scaling originating from the video games will be ignored, regardless of whether or not the comic books are considered canon to the original source material).

Aqua: The Sol Dimension. A world not too dissimilar to our own, this parallel universe is home to the seven Sol Emeralds; a set of gemstones said to contain incredible power.

Octo: And it goes without saying that a lot of people sought to get their hands on them, from would-be conquerors to robot pirates! However, obtaining the Sol Emeralds would be easier said than done, all thanks to the efforts of their guardian…

Aqua: Blaze the Cat!

Octo: H-Hey, I was just about to announce her!

Aqua: You snooze, you lose, Octo! U-Uh…

[Flustered by the embarrassment of her out-of-character outburst, Aqua’s face turns into a stoic expression; her professionalism returning in an instant…]

Aqua: Born into the kingdom of the Sol Empire, growing up Blaze was ostracised for her power to manipulate fire.

Octo: That’s pyrokinesis, for those not in the know!

Aqua: And as a result, Blaze spent her life - as ironic as it might sound - cold; distant. Her only company being the koala folk who served as her loyal subjects.

Octo: Ah, I get it, she didn’t pursue friendship because those snot-nosed brats from her childhood destroyed her ability to trust others! Awwww, that’s sad. I just want to give her a hug.

Aqua: As unfortunate as it may seem, sis, ultimately this would give Blaze the space she needed to balance her life as both a princess and a guardian. Perfect for when the nefarious descendant of one Doctor Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik, Eggman Nega, showed up on her doorstep.

Octo: AQUA! You can’t say that word on air! You’ll get us into trouble!

Aqua: E-EH!? N-N-No, sis, y-you know I would never say such a thing! N-E-G-A! NEGA! They’re very different…

[Octo performs the “I’m watching you” sign to Aqua.]

Octo: Watch where you tread, sis.

Aqua: Uh, n-noted. G-Going back to Nega for a second, the not-so-good doctor sought to restore the reputation of his ancestors’ name by doing what Ivo could not; take over the world and defeat his arch-nemesis, Sonic the Hedgehog!

Octo: And what better way to do that than by causing a bi-universal cataclysm between Sonic’s world and the Sol Dimension!? With the collapse of space-time imminent, Blaze had to open herself up to an alliance with the Blue Blur…

Aqua: But nothing can ever be that simple. Blaze’s initial impression of Sonic was far from positive, the princess viewing him as reckless; someone who was just as much a roadblock between her and the Sol Emeralds as the two doctors were.

Octo: But, thanks to the encouragement of Cream the Rabbit - because you’re nothing short of a monster if you’re not friends with her - the princess soon started to open up to the blue hedgehog, who’d go on to teach her the importance of friendship.

[Octo sticks her index finger in her mouth and shows her tongue, pretending to throw up.]

Aqua: Now empowered by Sonic’s aid, Blaze and the Blue Blur duelled the doctors to prevent the collapse of the space-time continuum, defeating them and restoring order to their worlds.

Octo: But from that point on, nothing would be the same ever again.

Aqua: Right! As a result of Sonic’s encouragement, Blaze began to open herself up to others. Her relationship with her servants became more familial, and she even found her own Tails in the form of Marine the Raccoon, a precocious girl with aspirations of her own!

Octo: And she’d even drop by Sonic’s world every once in a while to help him deal with enemies both new and old, like when Metal Sonic returned in Ro-butt-nik’s absence as Metal Overlord, empowered by the Master Emerald and hellbent on restoring his master’s rule over the world!

Aqua: But Blaze wouldn’t be seen as such a vital member of Sonic’s crew if she didn’t have the power to back up her heritage.

Octo: Yeah! Remember, Blaze has the power of pyrokinesis, allowing her to create and manipulate fire.

Aqua: And so, uh, Blaze is this power that even her very soul is alight with flame! She can use it to boost her speed - not unlike Sonic’s “Sonic Boost” technique - or augment the power of her attacks.

Octo: Heck, quite a few of Blaze’s fire-based abilities are direct parallels to Sonic’s own! The Fire Claw is her equivalent to Sonic’s Homing Attack, for example, ending the move by slashing at her enemies with her claws! And have you ever been scratched by a cat? That reeeeeeeally hurts!

Aqua: Almost as much as the Axel Tornado, the princess’ version of Sonic’s Spin Jump…

Octo: …which can also shred through Robotnik’s titanium goons like tissue paper!

Aqua: All that is child’s play, however, when compared to the Burst Dash! By using her flames to build up momentum, Blaze can blast forward and barrel through enemies with what is, in essence, her own variant of the Spin Dash technique.

Octo: And she can even keep that momentum by transitioning into the Burst Hover, a short-term glide - not too dissimilar to Knuckles - that allows Blaze to cover greater terrain.

Aqua: Even without her manipulation of fire, however, Blaze is an adept hand-to-hand combatant, and not someone you want to mess with one-on-one.

Octo: Not only can she combine a ballerina’s grace with the ass-kicking prowess of a trained kickboxer, Blaze is also good at pinpointing and taking advantage of an opponent’s weakness(es) to end a duel in record time! A testament to her (almost) unparalleled speed!

Aqua: It’s interesting to see all these similarities to Sonic, but it doesn’t stop at just their speed and power.

Octo: Because Blaze can use… the… Wisps?

Aqua: Is, uh, is everything okay, sis?

Octo: Not to be a letdown or anything, but, uh, I thought we were focusing on IDW for Blaze’s analysis?

Aqua: Oh, right! For feats and scaling, we are. However, to make up for the fact that we’re ignoring IDW’s pre-established connection to the games’ canon, I thought it’d be fair to include some of Blaze’s equipment from the games themselves. A soft-composite, if you will.

Octo: O-Oh. I just wish you clued me in on this before the show started.

Aqua: I apologise, but you’re right nonetheless. Blaze can't just spawn a Wisp from thin air, but she can come across them in her travels and use their Hyper Go-On Energy to obtain one of many forms.

Octo: Such as the Green Hover, the Orange Rocket or the Indigo Asteroid, transforming Blaze into a matter-consuming, well, asteroid!

Aqua: And similarly, our feline fatale can use the Violet Void to transform into a miniature black hole. She can zip around with the Cyan Laser, and even turn intangible with the Jade Ghost!

Octo: Such strange creatures! Do you think we can find one and keep it as a pet, sis? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!?

Aqua: If you know an accessible means of interplanetary travel, then by all means, but bear in mind…

Octo: Where are you going with this?

Aqua: …the Wisps aren’t Blaze’s best piece of equipment. Recall, if you may, her status as a guardian. What was she the guardian of, Octo?

Octo: The Sol Emeralds?

Aqua: Exactly! And what are the Sol Emeralds the equivalent of?

Octo: The Chaos Emeralds? W-Which means…

Aqua: As Sonic can with the seven Chaos Emeralds, Blaze can use the seven Sol Emeralds to access a Super transformation of her own. Introducing Burning Blaze!

Octo: Faster, stronger and more durable than Blaze’s regular form, Burning Blaze is a force to be reckoned with!

Aqua: Right! Not only is her speed and strength enhanced to an absurd degree - making her comparable to the faster than light Super Sonic - Blaze is also invulnerable to physical damage - something that can only be overcome by another Super form or a being of comparable power. She can fly, resist biological transmutation from diseases such as the Metal Virus and restore memories, even being able to manipulate fire on a much greater level than before.

Octo: Wow! Burning Blaze is AWESOME! Are we sure this is fair? Maybe we should put her up against that cool shades-wearing boy instead?

Aqua: Ah ah ah, Octo. Control yourself. At first, Blaze may seem undefeatable. However, she’s far from perfect.

Octo: ‘Sigh’. I guess not.

Aqua: Not only is the Burning Blaze transformation on a strict time limit, it can be exhausted if Blaze uses too much power all at once. As for Blaze’s base form, don’t let her princess-esque professionalism fool you; she’s far from level-headed to those on her bad side.

Octo: She can take taunting a tad too personally - perhaps a side effect from all the harassment she received when she was younger - and, despite being a cat, she’s immensely afraid of heights. Uh, sis, you okay?

[Aqua starts shivering violently following the mention of Blaze’s acrophobia.]]

Aqua: U-Uh, o-o-of course, sis. C-Continue.

Octo: But in spite of those weaknesses, Blaze is by far the best damned guardian there is. Those who seek the Sol Emeralds beware; the last thing you want on your tail is this hot-headed princess!

"I am the guardian of the Sol Emeralds. It is a fate that forces me to live with my curse, my flames. Because of my powers, I have always been alone. It's also why I must do this alone! It is my responsibility!"

Weiss[]

Aqua: In the world of Remnant, vicious creatures known as Grimm roam free. Hunters and huntresses risk their lives to combat them, but veil back the curtain that is their feud and you’ll find that a lot more goes on behind the scenes.

Octo: Corruption. Racial oppression. War. All connected to a seemingly prestigious organisation known as the Schnee Dust Company.

Aqua: Founded by Nicolas Schnee not so long ago, the Schnee Dust Company soon found itself passed down to his daughter, Willow Schnee.

Octo: And hoping to uphold the high standards of her father - who was an all-round swell guy - Willow married Colonel Sande - - er, I mean, a rich businessman named Jacques…

Aqua: …the two ushering the Schnee Dust Company into a new, successful era.

Octo: …

Aqua: …

Both: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Octo: ‘Sigh’, who’d be gullible enough to believe that!?

Aqua: I-I don’t know, sis, but you’d have to be a fool to think that Jacques was as selfless as he’d have you believe.

Octo: See, Jacques never got together with Willow out of love for her; he did it to inherit the fortune that belonged to her!

Aqua: And when Jacques’ true colours were revealed during an argument, Willow’s mental health started to falter, leading her down the path of alcoholism as a means of escapism.

Octo: But Jacques wasn’t content with just breakin' poor Willow’s heart! Oh, no. He was also responsible for the mistreatment of the human-animal hybrid species known as Faunus, of whom Jacques had a real hate boner for!

Aqua: ‘Gasp!’ Octo! Language!

Octo: Uh, my bad.

Aqua: This would lead to a feud between the Schnee Dust Company and the White Fang, a Faunus-run extremist group responsible for the assassination of various high-ranking people associated with the corporation; an event that wouldn’t just further compound the relationship between Jacques and his daughters, but snap it in two.

Octo: Winter Schnee - the elder of the two - would leave home to pursue a career as part of the Atlesian Special Operatives Unit, her status as heiress revoked and handed down to the other daughter…

Aqua: Weiss Schnee!

Octo: Whoooooo’d also go on to stab her father in the back! Nice!

Aqua: Born as second daughter to Willow and Jacques, Weiss had always been someone dedicated to upholding the honour and reputation once associated with her name.

Octo: But after Winter left to carve her own path in life, Weiss expressed an interest in doing the same!

Aqua: Weiss wished to become a huntress, assisting the world of Remnant in its everlasting war against the Grimm and their queen, Salem. However, in an effort to keep Weiss by his side, Jacques did everything in his power to stop her.

Octo: He chose what school she was to go to, who she could be friends with and even took control over her finances, giving himself the power to cut Weiss’ access to them if she even so much as thought about treading his toes.

Aqua: But despite becoming the overbearing father archetype teenage girls fear, Weiss didn’t let Jacques kick her while she was down.

Octo: Yeah, not only did Weiss run away from home, she even enrolled in the infamous Beacon Academy; a school renowned for training some of the best hunters and huntresses in the business!

Aqua: And it was here where Weiss would be partnered up with Ruby Rose, Yang Xiao Long and Blake Belladonna, forming the strike force known as Team RWBY!

Octo: Weiss’ weapon of choice is this: Myrtenaster, a rapier-slash-revolver hybrid powered by Dust, an elemental material that serves as Weiss’ source of ammunition!

Aqua: There are six variants of Dust in Weiss’ arsenal, each tied to their own respective elements - fire, ice, lightning, hard-light, wind and gravity. All are able to be used as long-ranged weaponry, but some can also be used to give Weiss an edge in close-quarters combat.

Octo: Fire Dust, for example, enhances Myrtenaster’s blade, allowing Weiss to generate a wave of fire with a mere slash of her sword. Then there’s Ice Dust, which Ms. Schnee can use to create weaponized shards of ice!

Aqua: By drawing a circle with the tip of her sword, Weiss can even use Hard-Light Dust to form an invisible barrier, using it to protect her from harm.

Octo: Even giving those who decide to attack regardless a rather nasty surprise in the form of a shockwave, sending them to the ground!

Aqua: And, last but not least, Wind Dust gives Weiss the power to generate whirlwinds, allowing her to take down multiple enemies in one fell swoop.

Octo: W-Wait a minute, last but not least? A-Are we sure, Aqua? I feel as though we forgot Lightning and Gravity.

Aqua: Not on purpose, at least. See, Weiss’ hasn’t used Lightning and Gravity Dust on their own all that often; in fact, we seldom see her use them at all. However, when she does use them, it’s often in conjunction with her Semblance, an inherent power tied to one’s Aura.

Octo: For those who don’t know, Aura is the manifestation of one’s soul. It can protect a user from harm, but it can also be weaponized in the form of, as Aqua said, a Semblance!

Aqua: And Weiss’ Semblance - inherited from her mother - is the power to generate glyphs, constructs of which she can use as platforms, protective barriers or as a means of enhancing her speed.

Octo: But they’re also capable of so much more! Shooting balls of fire using Dust, hard-light beams that zip around all over the place and amping Weiss’ speed to name a few.'

Aqua: However, most impressive of all is Weiss’ ability to summon creatures of great size through them, ranging from the almighty swordsman known as the Arma Gigas to the stinging missile that is the Queen Lancer!

Octo: Fun fact, it’s been shown that avatars can also teleport using glyphs, even being able to react outside of Weiss’ field of view.

Aqua: Which implies that Weiss’ summons possess some form of independence, or at least the idea that Weiss can perceive the world through her avatar. And-

Octo: Hey, sis, you see that Boarbatusk on the screen over there!?

Aqua: Yes, another of Weiss’ summons. What about- -hey, is that the Spin Da-

Aqua: -uh, I mean, and she can even control her summons’ sizes, being able to call forth a large Arma Gigas as an example.

Octo: You know, the one we saw take on Mitsuru’s Artemisia!

Aqua: With all this and more, Weiss is certainly not an opponent to be underestimated. We’ve previously seen Weiss knock around a Colossus…

Octo: …but the truth she she scales even higher, being comparable to people who tanked this massive blast!

Aqua: Said blast being worth over 62 megatons worth of T.N.T. Enough to annihilate a city!

Octo: Heck, one time Penny Polendina - that’s her second model and not the original - blasted her way out of this giant building, outputting equivalent energy to almost seventeen tons of T.N.T!

Aqua: Certainly impressive, all things considered. And, when it comes to speed, Weiss is no slouch, either. Characters such as her teammate, Blake, can react to lightning. Plus, in the series’ Black trailer, Adam Taurus was able to block a particle beam!

Octo: Which can travel at the speed of light! And here I was thinking Ruby was the speed-star of the show!

Aqua: However, as exceptional as Weiss might be, she’s far from perfect. Aura is a limited source of energy, able to be depleted either through the overuse of one’s Semblance or through taking on too many blows.

Octo: No Aura means no Semblance. No Semblance means no fancy Dust tricks. And no fancy Dust tricks means only basic Dust usage and Weiss’ skill with a blade.

Aqua: Which are by no means unimpressive, don’t get it twisted. However, Weiss is rather hot-headed, quite the contrary to her character's initial appearance, and she is quite prone to having the upper hand gained on her in combat.

Octo: Regardless of her flaws, however, Weiss remains committed to the values upheld by the Schnee name.

Aqua: Her father may have tarnished their reputation, but dedicated to making the world a better place, it can rest easy in the hands of this ferocious Ice Queen.

"We should always be working toward the best versions of ourselves. There is no time to stand idly by. The honor of the Schnee family rests on my shoulders. I'll be sure not to tarnish it. If we're going to do this, we're going to have to do this together."

DEATH BATTLE![]

Aqua: Alright, the combatants are set and we've run the data through all possibilities.

Octo: It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!

Click. Clack. Click. Clack.

Rose boots strolled through the hollow corridor, each step they made echoing throughout the marble room. At first, all was quiet, with only said footsteps being heard. However, the further they moved from earshot, the more audible the shout of “FREEZE!” became.

Blaze the Cat was here on a mission; to retrieve the Sol Emeralds - seven powerful gemstones responsible for the preservation of her world - and return home, having been whisked away to this strange new world by her arch-nemesis, a man by the name of “Eggman Nega”.

So far, her search had been successful, with the Sol Empire’s princess having found all but one of the fabled, square-cut jewels. However, on this occasion, it wasn’t going to be a simple case of “find an emerald and take it” for the feline fatale.

See, the emergence of the Sol Emeralds on Remnant - the name of the world Blaze had found herself in - had attracted the attention of one General James Ironwood of the Atlesian authorities. Between them and Blaze, it had become a race to capture as many of the emeralds as possible; Ironwood in his quest for great power and Blaze to prevent the Sol Dimension’s now imminent collapse.

The princess was the luckiest out of the two, having made her way to six of the seven thanks to her spiritual connection to their potent energies and the ability to sense their presence. However, when she eventually came face to face with the general in the middle of an Atlesian forest, Ironwood escaped with the last jewel in his grasp, albeit gruesomely scarred and unable to defend the emerald on the chance someone else had come to take it from him.

As a result, he had the final gem placed under lockdown, ordering a shoot-to-kill command to his men and making Blaze the number one target in all of Remnant. Which brings us to the present, as two guards stood by an entrance, aiming their weapons at the princess.

“H-He said freeze!” the other soldier said, his body trembling, his hands shaking and his words coming out as a nervous stutter as the image of what the feline fatale did to his commander echoed throughout his mind.

“They’re weak-willed, by the looks of it,” Blaze told herself, “easily exploitable; let me teach these men why you shouldn’t play with fire.”

The cat continued her stroll, the guards now releasing a blast from their rifles in the hopes of eliminating the incoming threat. However, to someone as fast as Blaze, the bullets moved as slow as a snail, giving her ample room to raise her hands and control the fire within.

Before the men could even contemplate what was going on, their guns seemingly exploded in their faces, knocking them out cold as the bullets’ remains fell to the ground. “I didn’t want to have to do this, but you left me no choice” Blaze told their unconscious bodies, before continuing her walk to the next room’s entrance.

As she reached for the door, though, it burst open and slammed into her, throwing Blaze back.

“I best get this Dust crystal back to the others. Now, where could Yang have gone…”

The source of the feminine voice was, at first, shrouded by the cloud emanating from the explosion that had occurred but a moment ago. However, as it all dissipated, the image of a tall, white-haired teenager - nineteen years of age, based on her almost adult appearance - emerged, a square-cut emerald in her hand and a multi-purpose rapier in the other.

“That girl has the Sol Emerald,” Blaze said, her eyes narrowed in anger. “No, I cannot rush into a duel; I do not know her true intentions, and she doesn’t look like one of the general’s men.”

Blaze then took a moment to ponder her next move, cycling through potential options in her head before coming to a conclusion. “Therefore, I must treat this as a diplomatic matter; conflict should be considered nothing more than a last resort.”

“Uh, excuse me!” the girl, Weiss Schnee, called out, Blaze’s ears perking up at the sound of her voice. “Yes, you, the Faunus girl.”

“Faunus?” Blaze whispered to herself, confused.

“Do you have any idea what you’ve done? These soldiers are employed by the Atlesian authorities, and their general, James Ironwood, is a ferocious man. You’re playing with fire in-AAAAH!”

Weiss shouted in pain when, out of nowhere, the Sol Emerald emanated a huge wave of fire, reacting not just to Blaze’s presence but also to the other emeralds in her possession. In response, RWBY’s Ice Queen let it fall to the ground, clutching her hand in pain as she stared angrily at the cat standing in front of her.

“Crap,” Blaze hissed, “I didn’t expect the emerald to act so vigorously. This may have already escalated out of my control. I have got to get that emerald before she recovers.”

As Blaze raced over to pick up the jewel, however, the tip of a sword soon found itself inches away from her face; it was Weiss’ blade, Myrtenaster, and she had it pointed directly at the princess of the Sol Dimension.

“Just one second, 'Flame Princess'. Now, I don’t consider General Ironwood all that trustworthy of a man. However…”

“...judging by the collateral damage you’ve caused and the fact you are clearly here for that powerful Dust crystal before anything else, coupled with the fact there are wanted posters of you all over Remn-”

Blaze soon interrupted Weiss, completing her sentence before the heiress could finish it. “You think I have malicious intentions and you’re here to fulfill the bounty the general has placed on my head?”

Weiss gave a sly smile.

“Perceptive, are we? Then maybe you can see where this is going.”

Blaze growled, bearing her fang as she showed Weiss her true colours. “Indeed. But you’ll be wise not to stand in the way of me and that “crystal”, as you so brazenly referred to it.”

“And why not?” Weiss asked, before jumping back in response to an incoming wave of fire shot from the palm of Blaze’s hand.

“Because my flames are not one to be stoked!”
