Description[]

Metal Gear vs. Skylanders. Even on all fours, these two command weapons of technology.

Introduction[]

Wiz: In order to harness the awesome power of technology, one must have both the intellect and wit to wield it, and the physical means to, like a pair of hands for instance.

Boomstick: Hang on there Wiz, because these two prove that even with all four paws on the ground, they can still be technological masters. Blade Wolf, the IF Prototype of Desperado.

Wiz: And Drobot, the inventor dragon of the Skylanders.

Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.

Blade Wolf[]

Wiz: In their goal to forever change the way war works, be it through direct conquest or through subtle business-like proceedings, the combined forces of Desperado and World Martial got to work mass producing whole armies of robotic soldiers.

Boomstick: Cyborgs, machines and UGs, or Unmanned Gears; whatever they could make to further their goals, they did. Like a line of robo-doggos called Fenrirs.

Wiz: This line of unique Unmanned Gears was created from the outline of the model of a machine made three years ago, during a project intended to create an AI with the mind of a human. By which I mean one with the interest of killing and destroying.

Boomstick: The AI was known as IF Prototype LQ-84i, although every better knows him as his later identity, Blade Wolf.

  • Background
    • Age: 3 years
    • Height: Est. 6'
    • AKA Fido, IF Prototype LQ-84i
    • Remade as a scout by Maverick
    • Educated in breakfast greetings, trends in music and elemental particle structures

Wiz: When Blade Wolf was unable to perfectly replicate a human's drive for destruction, the project was disbanded and he was left in storage, until Desperado came and repurposed him for themselves.

Boomstick: Probably saw him as the perfect opportunity to have a robo-doggo of their own.

Wiz: Well, he's not actually a robotic dog.

Boomstick: What? Of course he is! Just look at him.

Wiz: No, I mean that's just his outer body. His AI mind is actually intended to be a human, not an animal. It's just the body he was put into looks more canine that human.

Boomstick: Well that just sounds like a robot dog with extra steps.

Wiz: Oh fine then, he's a robot dog.

Boomstick: Exactly! Although sadly, he wasn't so much a pet dog as he was an attack one. His robotic body has all the means to attack like the animal it's based off, and then some. Not only can he attack with claws, but he can also use the most gnarly there is; a chainsaw.

  • Arsenal
    • High-Frequency Chainsaw
      • Used with Blade Mode
    • Heat Knives
    • Claws
    • Camouflage
    • Tendril tail
    • Red Phosphorus Grenade
    • Electromagnetic Grenade
    • Repair Nanopaste
    • Electrolyte Pack

Wiz: Not just any chainsaw at that, but a High-Frequency Chainsaw. Like most HF Blades it's designed to cut through molecular bonds but what makes it stand out, aside from being a freaking chainsaw, is that rather than a powerful vibration going through the weapon to give it this prowess, it's instead the ludicrous speeds at which the speed rotate and break down molecules.

Boomstick: Groovy man, and with it, Blade Wolf can cut through just about anything, especially when he goes Blade Mode for either more rapid or precise strikes. But he also has other means of dealing extreme damage, like with knives that are superheated enough to burn through solid stone and get lodged in a cyborg's metal body.

Wiz: These weapons he wields with his prehensile tail, which can also yank out a cyborg or robot's innards or hurl out a useful item, like a Red Phosphorus Grenade or an Electromagnetic explosive.

Boomstick: And if he wants to refill his reserves, he uses pastes and packs respectively to heal up and refill his Blade Mode energy. And to top it all off, as long as he isn't noticed, he can use camouflage to hide himself from sight. Not sure why he was considered a failure by the geeks who made him, he's a pretty efficient killing machine all things considered.

Wiz: Maybe it had something to do with Blade Wolf's own conflicting issues. Despite being built for battle, he expressed unhappiness with this role and yearned to escape. Fortunately, whilst his original attempt didn't warrant outright success, after being destroyed and rebuilt for another faction, he was able to truly fight for his freedom.

Boomstick: And whilst getting rebuilt means he kinda doesn't have his chainsaw anymore, don't worry, we're letting him keep that. After all, he still seems to have those knives of his.

  • Feats
    • Out-sped Raiden
    • Blocked Khamsin's axe swing
    • Survived a hit from Senator Armstrong
    • Fought through Abkhazia
    • Completed several training simulations
    • Delivered the Murasama to Raiden whilst badly damaged
    • Rivals humans in terms of intellect
    • Defeated an LQ-84i model and Khamsin

Wiz: Regardless of which side he is on, Blade Wolf proved himself worthy of keeping pace with his new partner Raiden. He's incredibly quick, so much so in fact, that in his battle against Raiden which resulted in his destruction, he was stated to be slightly faster than the cyborg.

Boomstick: And Raiden's top speed comes out to sub-relativistic levels. So Blade Wolf could be anywhere from two to five times faster than even him.

Wiz: Raiden wasn't the only cyborg that Blade Wolf fought against. His victory against the lesser known Wind of Destruction Khamsin showed several of his skills.

Boomstick: Like how he can sneak around in the middle of a fight to get the drop on them, not to mention block attacks from a massive axe that's propelled by what seems to be rocket boosters. Time for a quick trip down memory lane, because hits from that beast are worth over 30 million joules.

Wiz: Blade Wolf's even tougher than that though, considering he took a direct kick from the Metal Gear busting Senator Armstrong. All thanks to his mission to help Raiden in his time of need.

Boomstick: Just like any noble pet dog would do. No matter what may kick this dog, he's one who will come through for any master who gives him his freedom.

Wiz: Even if he's not technically a dog, he surely does embody those ideals.

Drobot[]

Wiz: The Skylanders are an entire army of heroes defending their titular home of magic and adventure, each one falling into one of ten different elements.

Boomstick: There are the standard typical elements, like fire, water, earth and the like. And then some rather odd ones like Magic and Undead.

Wiz: Not to mention my own personal favorite Element being Tech; even with it being technically as far from a scientific element as you can imagine. And like all the elements, the original lineup of Tech Skylanders had themselves a single dragon.

Boomstick: And what do you call a dragon who made himself look like a robot? Why Drobot of course.

  • Background
    • Height: Est' 4
    • Element: Tech
    • Skylander Classes: Core, LightCore
    • Hobbies: Playing chess...against himself
    • Augments his voice with a modulator

Wiz: If his outward appearance wasn't an indicator already, then Drobot is a little different to most dragons. And don't say I'm being racist, it's because he deliberately made himself look different.

Boomstick: All thanks to what he found on an island the day he got caught up and tossed out a tornado. On it was all manner of wonderful inventions and machines which Drobot was all too happy to get his claws on. Because, as it turns out, he's a nerd.

Wiz: Compared to his fellow dragons, who preferred to spend their time fighting in aerial battles, Drobot enjoyed using his brain and taking things apart to figure out how they worked. And this was no different to the abandoned machines he stumbled upon. Scavenging them for parts, Drobot turned himself into the powerhouse he is today, boasting power that was said to surpass even that of most other dragons.

Boomstick: Well of course it did! It's a dragon with the power of technology on his side and his newfound inventions translated well into all new weapons.

      • Galvanized Bladegears
      • Depleted Uranium Gears
      • Explosive Bladegears
      • Tri-Spread Bladegears
      • Supreme Bladegear
    • Thruster Flight
      • Hover Mode
      • Afterburners
    • LightCore blast

Wiz: Nearly all of Drobot's main methods of attack involve doing from from a distance away, with his Mega Blasters being his primary method. Fired from his eyes rapid fire, these beams can whittle down an enemy's life bar in barely any time at all. And the upgrade path for them is pretty straightforward, with an emphasis on dealing even higher damage at even greater rates.

Boomstick: Not only can he increase the level of damage using two different kinds of crystal but he can even empower them with anti-matter.

Wiz: In case you weren't aware, Antimatter is an extremely volatile substance. If a single gram of it comes into contact with another substance, then it will explode with the force of over 40 kilotons of TNT.

Boomstick: No wonder that's the reason why they explode. And just imagine the amount of damage they do when Drobot's firing out four shots every second as part of the last upgrade for the Mega Blasters. And if they're focused on straightforward blasts, then his Bladegears are the exact opposite.

Wiz: Fired from different angles of Drobot's body, the Bladegears will bounce off walls and, hopefully, into any targets that get in their path.

Boomstick: Kinda hard for them to hit a target when Drobot can't aim them properly but with the right upgrades they can become much more useful. In an upgrade to fire a third right out from in front of himself along with the ones that let them deal greater levels of damage, including one that lets them explode on impact. But it's his Wow-Power ability that's the real standout. He's able to create an extra large Bladegear that he can control in order to directly steer into targets.

Wiz: And like most dragons, Drobot can also fly, although he doesn't just use his wings but also technology to do so. With Thruster Flight, his speed and armor are increased and he can get two upgrades for it; one that allows him to hover in place and the other is his Soul Gem, which causes the Thrusters to emit fire from them during flight, damaging most anything he dashes by.

Boomstick: Making him a dragon that emits fire from another angle, and I'm not talking about the butt. And with all these powers, he sought out the Skylanders and joined them, leading to another boost to his already incredible power.

Wiz: Thanks to being in such close proximity to the legendary Core of Light, Drobot became a LightCore Skylander, meaning that whenever he touches down, he unleashes a massive blast of light, capable of clearing an entire area of enemies.

  • Feats
    • Can fight Kaos' Minions
    • Can fight Boris Blisterbottom
    • Harnessed Antimatter for his laser attacks
    • Survived the explosion of the Core of Light
    • Saved Lightning Rod from the Land Whale
    • Built himself his super powered armor
    • Processed the power of 1000 Windbag Djinnis

Boomstick: Not that he can't do that already. He's described as being incredibly analytical in battle on top of being incredibly ferocious. And his power armor is nothing to be scoffed at. One time, when his fellow Skylander Lightning Rod absorbed the power of 1000 Windbag Djinnis, Drobot was able to harness the power for himself to empower his Afterburners to an insane degree.

Wiz: Not only did his armor process the energy but Drobot himself was able to withstand the velocity of the super-fast travel the newfound energy gave him. And of course, he can throw down with either other Skylanders or their dark copies. And really, Drobot doesn't possess any individual weakness, although as a Tech Skylander, he is weak to those of the Earth element.

Boomstick: And there's the teeny-tiny problem that he's now stuck in miniature toy form. Not the best scenario. In fact, thinking about it, it must be sorta nightmarish.

Wiz: Actually, like many Skylanders, Drobot seems to take it in stride. In fact, even in his frozen state, his mind still operates, working on means to free himself from his prison. It's safe to say this dragon-

Boomstick: Crossed with a robot.

Wiz:-Will never stop fighting, nor inventing.

Interlude[]

Wiz: Alright the combatants are set, time to end this debate once and for all.

Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!

The Battle[]

Setting: A desert locked city

Drobot fly though the skies, minding his own business until something caught the corner of his goggled eye; orange and red sparks. Curious, he flew down to ground level to see the colors were the result of various machines having been sliced open by the perpetrator among their remains; Blade Wolf, who currently had his back to the grounded Drobot.

Drobot: Analysis: Based on local news, these machines are hostile to even innocents and you dispatched them. Conclusion: I would like to invite you to be a part of our-

Blade Wolf: No.

Drobot titled his head.

Drobot: No?

Blade Wolf: I fight under no-one. I'm my own master now.

FIGHT!

The UG whipped around and hurled out a heat dagger, which Drobot dodged at the very last moment. He watched it whizz by before turning his attention back towards Blade Wolf, who lunged towards him with his claws outstretched. Drobot brought both his forelegs up to grab Wolf's wrists, stopping the claws inches from getting into his face. The power of Wolf's pounce sent Drobot sliding backwards slightly, before the came to a stop and Wolf planted his back legs on the ground. This time around it was his turn to dodge his head to the side as Drobot fired twin shots of energy from his eyes before the Skylander turned about and hurled him away. As soon as he had landed, Drobot unleashed a barrage of shots towards him.

These were blocked by Blade Wolf with the use of his HF Chainsaw, which was swung around by his tail as a defense of his main body, before he spun around and slashed out with it. With a boost from his Thrusters, Drobot was propelled a small distance upwards to completely avoid the attack, before shooting out another shot from his eyes whilst in the air. Wolf darted backwards from the attack as it sparked against the ground before doing so numerous times as Drobot shot out more lasers. After dodging several of the blasts, Blade Wolf flicked his tail and heat knives shot out towards Drobot, who strafed to the left and right to avoid the two barrages that were thrown. The Skylander countered by changing his beams to include antimatter charges so that the next shot exploded when it hit the ground and sent Wolf spinning backwards. He was able to land on his feet with perfect poise and as Drobot fired more antimatter blasts, turned about and fled from the exploding ground, Drobot giving chase with his Boosters.

What followed was a short chase through the city as Blade Wolf kept ahead of Drobot and his shots. Taking note of the differentiating paths he was herding Wolf down, Drobot formulated a strategy in his sharp mind before sending out two Bladegears. They bounced off the surroundings of the area so that one cut in front of Blade Wolf, forcing him to stop before he then had to jump to the side as the other one came at him from the front. Blade Wolf's series of dodges wasn't yet finished as Drobot's beams forced him to jump back further into the alley his opponent was herding him into. By the time Wolf realized this, Drobot was standing in the way out and he saw the alley was a dead end.

Drobot: Entrapment complete.

He flapped his wings and sent out three Bladegears at once, which bounced off the alley's walls as they headed towards Blade Wolf. The UG tensed itself before he set about dodging and ducking beneath the bouncing weapons. After dodging them for a while, Wolf's chainsaw flashed out and he sliced through the Bladegears, prompting Drobot to snarl and sent out three more Bladegears. This time, they were of the explosive variety, something Wolf noticed instantly with his robotic senses. He watched carefully as the Bladegears bounced off the walls before they all came at him from a triangular angle at the same rate. He leapt into the air just before they called hit him, leaving the explosive Bladegears to explode underneath him due to them colliding. Drobot let out another grunt of annoyance before flying forwards with his Thrusters to try and intercept Blade Wolf in the air but the UG acted quick by throwing out a Red Phosphorus Grenade, creating a smoke screen which flooded the alley and he vanished into before Drobot could catch him. Drobot landed in the cloud and looked around, searching for Blade Wolf until his chainsaw lashed out from the cloud's depths and cut him across the side. Drobot cursed in pain before another slash went across the side of his face. He pulled backwards, shaking his head to free himself of the dizziness brought on by the attack before looking back up in time to see the glowing chainsaw swinging down towards him. Before it could connect however, Drobot activated his Afterburners, the twin jets of flame igniting the red phosphorus and causing a small scale explosion that stunned Blade Wolf, so that he was unable to react before Drobot used the Afterburners to shot forwards and tackle him.

The flight smashed them through the wall that made the alley's end, the two of them struggling with each other as they flew about until Blade Wolf's tail reached out and slammed into one of Drobot's goggles, cracking it. With a yelp of surprise, Drobot threw Wolf away from himself but was too late to reorganize himself, and he crashed through the wall of an empty building. As powder rained down, Drobot got back up, looking around for his opponent. His instincts told him to jump back, doing so as Blade Wolf's chainsaw sliced through the wall he had been standing next to, nicking his metal chin in the process. Upon landing afterwards, Drobot looked up to see the wall was now collapsing towards him and he unleashed a stream of lasers to cut straight through it. The resulting cloud from the pulverized concrete slab temporarily blinded Drobot and Blade Wolf took the opportunity to leap through it and tackle Drobot, sending the two of them smashing through one of the remaining building's wall and out into the desert.

In Wolf's claw-clutches, Drobot was grinded across the desert floor until the came to a stop. Looking up, the Skylander saw why as Wolf lifted his chainsaw high up before stabbing it downwards at him, piercing him in the shoulder and slicing his flesh. Drobot howled in pain as the chainsaw was pushed in deeper before gritting his teeth and attempting to bring his head around to get off a volley of blasts. Blade Wolf's claw pinning his head on its side put an end to it but fortunately for the Skylander, he had other means to attack; he swiveled his wings around and fired shots from the laser guns mounted on them, which struck Blade Wolf right in the chest, launching him upwards with a howl of pain, his chainsaw yanking free from Drobot. As soon as he had crashed down, and attempted to get back up, Drobot assaulted him with a barrage of shots that left him riddles with tiny steaming craters. Blade Wolf stumbled as the barrage ended and Drobot conjured up in front of himself a Supreme Bladegear.

Drobot: Time to end this.

He sent the massive Bladegear towards Blade Wolf, who looked up at it approaching him.

Blade Wolf: No...not yet.

With some Nanorepair Paste utilized, Drobot healed his injuries before bringing up his chainsaw to block the Bladegear, the two opposing spinning objects grinding against each other to produce sparks. With a robotic bellow, Blade Wolf turned his HF chainsaw to the side so that the spinning blade sliced through the Bladegear and he was free to hurl something at Drobot with a flick of his head; an Electromagnetic Grenade. It went off right in Drobot's face and he yelled in surprise as he felt his armor go haywire and semi-shut down. As this happened, Blade Wolf lunged at him, slashing out with his chainsaw in the process. Drobot moved as fast as he could to the side and brought up his own tail to try and defend himself but the chainsaw slashed right through it, sending it flying off before Blade Wolf pounced onto Drobot's back, pinning him once more as his armor heaved to restart.

Blade Wolf: Sequence complete: Prepare to be terminated.

Drobot: ...Negative.

A sphere sudden lit up on his back as he tapped into his LightCore ability and a massive beam of light shot out from it, high into the air as a shockwave of the same light spread out from Drobot. Among the light were the top and bottom of Blade Wolf, being scattered after the initial beam had cut them in half. And once his armor's systems came back online, Drobot unleashed a barrage of shots from his eyes and wings, shredding the upper half of Blade Wolf to pieces.

Drobot: Termination...completed.

KO!

Drobot attaches the now discarded HF Chainsaw in place of his own lost tail.

Outcome[]

Boomstick: You know, I realized a while ago that Bladegear can be an abridging of Blade Wolf being in the Metal Gear series.

Wiz: In terms of primary fighting style, whilst Drobot may not have had much officially in the way of melee unlike Blade Wolf, his more consistent long-ranged means of fighting meant he could control the pace of the battle. Whilst Blade Wolf did have multi-purpose grenades and heat knives, they were of a limited number compared to the endless stream of lasers or bouncing Bladegears he could send out. Not to mention his flight enabled for better maneuverability of the area.

Boomstick: Power output also fell into Drobot's lap and with it he could easily put robo-doggo down. The highest durability feat that Blades could scale to was Raiden's surviving of a Metal Gear going boom. It was a blast worth 120 kilotons of TNT (AguilaR101 ), but Drobot's antimatter charges alone could deliver 40 kilotons of TNT individually, so all four maximum means of firing them out would deliver 160 kilotons per shot. That's 75% more power than Blade Wolf could survive and that's without getting into the whole Boris boiling ocean feat Drobot scales to.

Wiz: Of course, Blade Wolf did have a method to win through his molecule-slicing High Frequency Chainsaw but as we all know, in order for it to be effectively utilized, he'd have to be fast enough to hit Drobot with it. Blade Wolf is said to be faster than Raiden, whose Blade Mode enables him to move at 0.026 times the speed of light (LordXcano). However, Drobot scales to other Skylanders who can make use of light-based attacks, easily making him several times faster.

Boomstick: Thanks to this factor, he could dodge attacks from the chainsaw and hit Blade Wolf with blasts that could reduce him to scrap metal. And whilst I'm not a big supporter of the advantage of brains, Drobot technically had this. Whilst Blade Wolf was a smart feller, he didn't seem to have the same kind of expertise as Drobot when it came to understanding machines. Ironic, I know, but with a keen intellect in both battles and robotics, Drobot had another useful advantage.

Wiz: As deadly an arsenal Blade Wolf had, which in the right circumstances could have given him the win, Drobot's power, speed and intelligence meant the Tech Skylander proved that a robotic dragon would come out over a robotic dog.

Boomstick: Something that I accept, but also grinds my gears.

Wiz: The winner is Drobot.

Trivia[]

  • The connection between Blade Wolf and Drobot is that they are both quadruped animal-like individuals who make use of technology to empower themselves (with Drobot using it to enhance his own dragon nature whilst Blade Wolf is technically an AI inhabiting a robotic body), such as long-range projectiles. Both also sought different ways to live compared to their more fight-centered brethren; Blade Wolf attempted to fight to his freedom from war whilst Drobot preferred to invent rather than compete in aerial battles.
  • This battle would have been in 3D
  • The original music for this battle would have been called 'Gears of Tech', referring to Blade Wolf's home series, Drobot's element and the fact they both use technology
