History[]
A former SAS/Royal Marine recruited by Grace Mallory to eliminate Supes who abuse their powers for self-benefit, William "Billy" Butcher is the manical and unpredictable leader of the Boys, a CIA-sanctioned vigilante team whose sole objective is to bring down Vought International, a multibillion-dollar congolmerate who founded The Seven, a superhero group, and managing the Superhero population. Billy hates the Supes with extreme predjudice, mostly because of Homelander raping and "killing" his wife, Rebecca "Becca" Butcher, and seeks total extermination of the Superhero race. To this end, he recruits tough enforcer Mother's Milk, the French-Algerian inventor Frenchie, the mute superhuman Kimiko "the Female" Miyashiro and the naive engineer Hughie Campbell to his team. Although he has not gotten along with the team very well, he has lead them to dangerous situations where every Supe they found is dead on their feet (even though they lack progress because Vought has not been brought down by their schemes). Later on, Billy discovers that Becca is still alive, leaving him in a decision to choose his wife or his team; his decision to choose the latter is all for naught because Becca is accidentally killed by her son, the young superhuman Ryan Butcher. Afterwards, after mourning for Becca, Billy and the Boys work for the government as contractors, with a mission to seek out to find a weapon that is said to be able to kill Homelander, eventually revealing to be the aged veteran superhero known as Soldier Boy.
