Bendy vs Mary is a battle by GodzillaFan8889 and (was meant to be) his official 2023 Halloween Special episode, featuring the Ink Demon and ruler of the Cycle, Bendy, returning to fight against the RPG Maker horror painting girl living in the Fabricated World from Ib, Mary, along with their respective dimensions, to see who is the superior antagonistic artwork come to life.
Description[]
Bendy and the Ink Machine vs Ib! When two entire worlds of living artworks and their respective masters collide, ink and paint will be shed! Which abandoned creation will come out on top, the first ink creature of Joey Drew, or the final painting of Weiss Guertena?
Introduction[]
(Cue Wiz and Boomstick - Brandon Yates)
Wiz: Bendy, Joey Drew’s soulless Ink Demon and ruler over the Cycle.
Boomstick: Mary, Weiss Guertena’s living painting girl and resident of the Fabricated World.
Wiz: No matter how appealing it may seem for an artist’s ideas to come to life, when taken in a literal sense, one’s creative vision can become an entire world of unintentionally deadly nightmares.
Boomstick: And if ya do create something, don’t just up and abandon ‘em, or ya might end up with something like these two.
Wiz: To clear some things up, we will not just be looking at Bendy and Mary individually, but also the minions under their respective thralls. Not to mention, in order for Mary’s full potential to be utilized, we will have this battle take place in the Fabricated World.
Boomstick: Ya may think that sounds unfair, but trust us, it doesn’t really hinder Bendy’s abilities that much with how much ink he spreads everywhere anyways. With all that out of the way, he’s Wiz and I’m Boomstick!
Wiz: And it’s our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win... a spooky scary DEATH BATTLE!
Bendy Rises from the Dark Puddles for a DEATH BATTLE![]
(Cue The Archives - BATIM OST)
Wiz: The cartoon industry. A massive collection of different companies and creators that have managed to create some of the most iconic shows and characters we know, entertaining millions around the world for years to come. However, all this had to start somewhere. And so, we're gonna rewind all the way back to the 1930s, when the industry was much more humble.
Boomstick: This was the point where many icons had begun to grow in popularity, such as Mickey Mouse, Felix the Cat, Popeye the Sailor Man, and... Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Poor guy. Of course, in our history, these folks would eventually go on to live far past that era, laying the foundations of animation as a genre. But in some other universe... eh, not much changed, except for the presence of a new kid on the block- wait, why do I feel like I've said this before?
Wiz: Eh, it's probably nothing. Welcome to Joey Drew Studios, another one of the aspiring competitors aiming to bring their own take on the genre. Founded in 1929 by, well, Joey Drew and Henry Stein, this studio soon became a company of somewhat respectable size, able to have their own massive building, create their own series of cartoons, and most importantly-
Boomstick: Sell merchandise!
Wiz: No! I meant, most importantly, have their own central mascot and icon. This came in the form of a little mischievous demon known as Bendy.
Boomstick: Aww, he's adorable! Plus, harmless and even slightly clumsy to boot! How could this guy be the evil creature of darkness we alluded to...? Uhm, Wiz, I still can't shake the feeling of-
Wiz: Well, yes, he isn't some evil creature of darkness... within the cartoon world at least. Joey Drew, however, had a much larger ambition for the "little devil darlin'". Instead of just sticking to cartoons like many did at the time, he wanted to take Bendy to the next level. The cartoons, the merchandise, even the theme park he had in mind would all pale in comparison to his greatest plan: creating his own cartoon characters in our world.
Boomstick: And of course, this pretty much sealed his fate. Like come on! You don't go around carelessly creating life in a horror setting unless you want it to blow up in your face! That's like, Fiction 101!
Wiz: Well, it didn't go wrong at first, though I should explain further. Logically, Joey initially attempted to create a physical Bendy using the Ink Machine, the tool that would help him achieve his seemingly-impossible goal. Unfortunately, it ended up creating a malformed, horrific-looking version of the Dancing Demon, which certainly didn't please Joey.
Boomstick: If the Dreams Come To Life novel is to be believed though, this Bendy was actually kinda chill, not really doing anything except wandering around. Despite that, Joey knew that this ink beast was far too scary to be an attraction that could bring in the big bucks, and so he did the logical thing: locking it up in his studio. And ironically, this somewhat understandable decision is what caused things to go south!
Wiz: Driven mad by its isolation, this failed experiment would eventually break out, causing havoc as it corrupted or killed many an employee. As the years passed, more ink creatures, including ones based on other characters such as Boris, Alice Angel, and the Butcher Gang, would be created, becoming the new inhabitants of Joey Drew Studios. And at the center of it all, the twisted main star of the show now ruled as the most dangerous of these entities.
Boomstick: T-That's right, we're talkin' about Ink Bend-
(The music suddenly stops as Wiz and Boomstick go silent, a strange orange image flashing on the screen before it cuts out.)
Wiz: This was the fate of Joey Drew Studios... at least, what we thought was its fate. Let's rewind to the actual start, shall we?
Boomstick: Strap in for this one folks, this is gonna be a doozy.
(Cue Sketches - BATIM OST)
Wiz: You see, the truth behind all of this was both more mundane and much stranger. Joey Drew Studios never went under due to an experiment gone wrong; instead it simply began to plummet due to Joey's own poor management of the place and people leaving to move on with their lives. What really pushed Mr. Drew over the edge however was when Henry, his own partner and co-founder, dared to leave the company behind.
Boomstick: As Joey's world began to fall around him, he devised a simple plan to let out his stress that was not simple at all: instead of getting back at those who left him in the real world, which would probably cause a whole lot of problems, he'd just create an entirely new world and torment fictional versions of his coworkers instead! Not exactly the coping mechanism I'd recommend.
Wiz: Everything we said prior is what took place within this world Joey had created; an exaggerated tale of the downfall of a company that he himself ended up causing. But there's even more to it: this world was but a cycle, an endless, repeating loop, where Joey could manipulate each iteration at his whim to tell the stories he wanted and to end in the ways he found satisfying.
Boomstick: Within this Cycle, Joey's version of Henry would be tasked by Joey's version of... himself... to investigate the studio and what went wrong. Eventually, he'd fight a couple of rubberhose creatures, meet some of his coworkers-turned ink monsters, and then come face to face with Ink Bendy himself. Rinse and repeat, waaaaaaay too many times.
Wiz: Eventually, the inhabitants within began to become aware of the Cycle's true nature. Many fell into despair, including Henry himself, but the ink abomination that was Bendy would have a... different reaction.
Boomstick: For him, an eternal loop to rule over was like heaven! Or hell, since he's a demon.
Wiz: And thus, Bendy would cement himself as the ruler of not just the corrupted Joey Drew Studios, but of the very Cycle itself. Everyone else was beneath him, none could challenge his might, and all would learn to respect the power of the fearsome Ink Demon.
Background
- Name: The Ink Demon, Bendy, Ink Bendy
- Age: Unknown, but most likely around 30 years (within the Cycle anyways)
- Occupation: Ruler of Joey Drew Studios and the Cycle
- Also known as the the Dancing Demon, the Little Devil Darlin', e.t.c.
- Highly aggressive to anything he encounters
- Somehow gained horse legs in between games
- Knows the Rickroll
(Cue Bend You Till You Break (Instrumental) - TryHardNinja)
Boomstick: Speaking of power, to cement your reign over an entire dimension of ferocious abominations, you'll need a lot of it, and fortunately, or unfortunately, the Ink Demon has it in spades.
Wiz: His physical strength is nothing to scoff at. He can easily overpower and kill characters such as Henry and Audrey, the former of whom managed to survive an elevator crash, albeit not without being knocked out, and being smacked through a wall, and the latter of whom can break through vent covers. Not only that, but he's far superior to other ink creatures such as Brute Boris, who can toss around ride carts, and Bertrum Piedmont, who is a giant living carnival ride.
Boomstick: Don't believe us? Well aside from dealing the most damage out of most in-game enemies, he once tussled with the Projectionist, and after a brief conflict, gave that guy a DECAPITATIOOOOOOOOOON! Like a true badass! And with immense strength, he of course also has the durability to back it up.
Wiz: Bendy is capable of surviving things that would kill most other ink creatures, including hits from weapons such as the Axe and Gent Pipe, and can even shrug off shots from the Tommy Gun, which is capable of blasting through a wall. He is essentially nigh-immortal, with the Keepers, foreign creatures created by a man named Wilson, having failed to kill him after numerous attempts to do so. He even went through quarter hourly sessions of torture from the Keepers with none of his strength having diminished in the process.
Popup: As detailed in Keeper Log 26.
Boomstick: His refusal to just die might just have to do with his ink physiology, which is only one of his many, many unique abilities.
Abilities
- High strength, speed and durability
- Ink physiology
- Nigh-immortality
- Regeneration
- Soulless nature
- Ink portals
- Ink manipulation
- Transmutation
- Voice projection
- Absorption
Wiz: Unlike most of the Cycle's creatures who are meant to be former humans, Bendy was made without a soul, making him much harder to put down. In the book Dreams Come To Life, he regenerated from injuries such as having his leg severed and being nearly cut in half, and survived regular surgical invasions at the hands of the Keepers, seemingly none the worse for wear.
Boomstick: But being entirely made out of ink has its other perks too, such as being able to pop up out of nowhere via ink portals! Wherever there's ink, you can expect the Ink Demon to appear, and he also has the handy ability to spread it everywhere around him passively. Oh yeah, and that's not mentioning the fact that in Dark Revival, he just inexplicably gains the ability to slasher-port behind you Jason Voorhees-style!
Wiz: Oh god, don't remind me of that night. It was a miracle we managed to escape with our lives at all.
Boomstick: Don't worry Wiz, I'm sure our next camping trip won't be so bad... I think.
(Wiz sighs)
Wiz: Sure it will... l-let's just get back on topic.
Boomstick: Good idea! Bendy's control over ink is so potent that he can conjure enough of it to flood and break an entire floor! And if that wasn't bad enough, exposure to his ink can even slowly turn you into another ink creature! Say goodbye to that body of yours, pal!
Popup: It is important to note that he cannot do it by touch automatically; Sammy was only transformed after consuming the ink over a long period of time, Buddy was turned into a Boris clone after being ripped in half and drowned in the ink, and Susie/Twisted Alice was only pulled back into the Cycle by the ink after she had already become a creature.
Wiz: And as if all that wasn't enough, Bendy's dark revival gave him even more abilities. For one, he can now talk and project his voice into people's minds, even when they're not in the same room as him. And another new ability of his is that he can simply fuse with anyone he wishes to, trapping their mind in his body and seemingly adding their power to his own. However, he only ever uses this in very specific situations where he is willing to strike "alliances", which isn't most of the time since anyone who encounters him usually ends up dead first.
Boomstick: This also turns him into an all-new form which is even more powerful than before, but we'll save that for later. 'Cause when you're discussing a ruler such as Bendy, it's also important to note the subjects he keeps under his inky thumb.
(Cue The Crawling Swarm - Bendy and the Dark Revival OST)
Children of the Machine
- Searchers
- Searcher minibosses
- Searcher Boss
- Swollen searchers
- Lost Ones
- The Butcher Gang
- Fisher
- Piper
- Striker
- Giant Bendy Hand
Popup: Not all creatures from the Cycle are being included, as some either outright oppose the Ink Demon (The Projectionist, the Keepers, Big Steve), are in specific locations and/or have not been shown to follow his commands (the Widows and their King, Slicer), or are specific individuals who do not always follow the Demon (Sammy Lawrence).
Wiz: Most common among Bendy’s thrall are the Searchers, crawling inky humanoids lacking almost any features. While they are fairly weak and can be taken down in a few hits, they can still prove problematic in large numbers. The Searcher Minibosses, on the other hand, are faster, stronger, and larger, while the Searcher Boss is even more massive, at three times the size of an ordinary searcher, and stronger to boot, but unlike the Minibosses, moves much slower.
Boomstick: Heh, I like his little hat. When it comes to the swollen searchers though, they don’t really do anything except stand there. However, if enough time is taken to kill them, they’ll teleport somewhere else. Oh, did I mention one of them ALSO has a bowler hat? Damn, these ink creatures got some good fashion sense, I tell ya what. You might even say, they got the dri-
Wiz: After the Searchers come the second most common enemies within the Cycle, the Lost Ones. They are much more intelligent and human overall than their Searcher counterparts, with several of them being able to wield rudimentary weapons. Additionally, they can also scrape ink from their own bodies to throw at enemies, however again, they’re fairly easy to take down if you’re properly armed.
Boomstick: Up next are my personal favorites of the Ink Demon’s summons, the Butcher Gang! Not only do they have a metal-as-hell name, but these little freaks can pop out when you least expect it. Ol’ Piper’s armed with a pipe wrench to swing at his targets, Fisher’s got a fishing rod neck and wields either a wrench or a hook for stabbing at foes, and Striker can give you the ol’ one-two with his three arms!
Wiz: But by far the most bizzare of creatures that Bendy can call upon is the Giant Bendy Hand, which is… exactly what it says on the tin. It’s admittedly questionable whether or not the Ink Demon summoned it to attack Henry, but we’ll be including it for the purposes of this battle. This towering hand can rise from ink and drag down anything it senses in its domain, namely wooden barges. But what if all this still isn’t enough to take down his target? After all, people like Henry and Audrey were able to traverse the Cycle and escape its various enemies, even Bendy himself.
(Cue Standing Together - Bendy and the Dark Revival OST)
Boomstick: When the time calls for it, the Ink Demon can let loose with his final resort by turning his body into a hulking, gigantic version of itself known as Beast Bendy! This form is even stronger and faster than before, able to run through hallways, shake rooms just by running and outright ignore hordes of Lost Ones trying to kill it! Are there giant doors in your way? Do ya need to bash this one particular human you really hate through a wall? Now it’s no problem!
Wiz: Though Bendy tends to attack in a more animalistic fashion in this form, that doesn’t exactly mean he only attacks like a dumb brute. In the first game, he was already smart enough to catch his targets off guard by running out of summoned ink portals on the walls, and as of Dark Revival, his intelligence has clearly increased by a substantial amount. Heck, even in this newly enhanced form, he can still use telepathy.
Boomstick: You wanna know something else that happened in Dark Revival? Beast Bendy finally decided to NOT skip leg day! I mean, god, look at those tiny excuses for legs in the original game!
Wiz: To be entirely fair, Beast Bendy in Bendy and the Ink Machine did happen to move faster, so maybe the Ink Demon was onto something.
Boomstick: Nah, it’s just silly.
Feats
- Took over the entire Cycle
- Is repeatedly acknowledged as the strongest ink creature within the Realm
- Tore off the Projectionist’s head
- Nearly killed Sammy Lawrence in an encounter
- Has repeatedly shown to be nigh-unkillable
- Killed and dragged down a weakened Shipahoy Wilson, a creature who was meant to kill him
- Manipulated Audrey into joining forces with him
Wiz: With all this at his disposal, it’s little wonder the Ink Demon has accomplished so much. His sheer power has allowed him to cement himself as the very strongest in the Cycle, a fact which has been backed up by multiple statements and feats. From his ink killing Butcher Gang members who step into it to him ripping off the Projectionist’s head and nearby killing Sammy Lawrence, this inky devil has managed to cut down his opposition time and time again. Heck, he even took down Shipahoy Wilson, who was meant to be stronger than him, albeit only after Audrey weakened it sufficiently.
Popup: The only one who was ever able to usurp the Ink Demon’s rule was Wilson, who only did it by finding out a specific weakness of his after hours of experimentation from his Keepers.
Boomstick: Speaking of Audrey, he managed to talk her into ultimately aiding and merging with him after Shipahoy ended up tearing off her legs. Two became one, with Audrey’s soul becoming a part of the Beast Bendy form, essentially trapped in it. A recreation of Joey then tried to talk some sense into Audrey, buuuut Bendy proceeded to crush his ribs. Wait, that’s it, right? Wilson was killed off when the Ink Demon took down his living rubberhose OC which he was merged with, Audrey is now a helpless watcher in his body, and the rest are far weaker than him. Sooooo Bendy wins?
Wiz: Oh, he very nearly did. Unfortunately, he failed to account for one thing: his lack of a soul.
Weaknesses:
- Lack of a soul allows his body to be easily taken control of if someone were to merge with him
- The End will destroy him and cause the Cycle to be reset
- Has been repeatedly tricked, with his targets managing to hide from and evade him
- Destroying his Bendy cutouts will enrage him
- Minions really only follow him out of instinct or fear
- Specialized signal towers can drain his power and revert him to a smaller form
Wiz: Due to the fact that the Demon never had one in the first place, Audrey, with nothing but sheer willpower, was able to fully wrestle control of Bendy’s body from him. Using his own enhanced strength to destroy his army, Joey Drew’s daughter, despite Bendy’s best efforts to stop her, managed to play the End reel on a projector and aimed it right at the Beast’s face, resetting the Cycle for good.
Boomstick: Oh yeah, that wasn’t the first time Bendy got beat by that annoying little reel. Henry was able to pull it off in the first game as well. For some reason, showing it to the Ink Demon will just cause him to disintegrate completely and reset the Cycle! Maybe he wouldn’t have met this fate twice if he wasn’t so easy to trick.
Wiz: Granted, many of Bendy’s faults were in the first game, with him getting much smarter by the time of Dark Revival. However, that doesn’t change the fact Audrey can still hide from him, and that Henry was able to trick him into ramming into glass tubes in his own encounter with the Beast due to how utterly aggressive he is. Worse still, destroying his cutouts-
Boomstick: AKA annoying cheap jumpscares incarnate-
Wiz: -will cause him to fly into a rage and attack his target. While it makes him much more dangerous, it can also be exploited rather easily.
Boomstick: And when it comes to the other creatures of the Cycle, they really only follow Bendy either because it’s their instinct or because they fear his level of power. Hell, he doesn’t really even care about ‘em that much! If one happens to end up in his path, good friggin’ luck I guess!
Wiz: The Demon’s final weakness is the Gent Corporation’s signal towers. Wilson managed to engineer them in a way that their energy will weaken Bendy, reverting him into a much smaller and more friendly, harmless and vulnerable form.
Boomstick: Aww, he’s adorable! For real this time!
Wiz: However, a sudden energy surge such as Audrey’s power will allow him to break free of this imprisonment, allowing him to revert back to his old, homicidal Ink Demon self. Eventually though, after his final defeat, Bendy was reverted back into his passive cartoon form by Audrey, who had entered the real world in order to control the Cycle, and was brought out of his inky realm.
Boomstick: For the first time, the living little Devil Darlin’ was able to finally know true peace and friendship. However, even though it may seem like only the cartoon Bendy remains, only time will tell whether or not the Ink Demon will come back.
Wiz: After all, it’s a never-ending Cycle down in Joey Drew Studios, and if there’s one constant in every loop, it’s that the Demon is lurking in its depths, ready to kill anyone who comes across him. For this is his realm, and he’ll make sure it stays that way forever.
"My ink swells and boils. It consumes. I... am the Ink Demon. This realm is mine."
Mary welcomes DEATH BATTLE to the World of Guertena![]
(Cue Corelli La Folia - Ib OST)
Wiz: Welcome, one and all, to the Guertena Art Gallery, a museum dedicated to the works of esteemed artist Weiss Guertena. From paintings to sculptures, this collection of masterpieces is sure to wow many an artistic mind.
Boomstick: Before his unfortunate passing, Mr. Guertana made over 100 art works of varying shapes and sizes! Who could forget classics such classics as the Embodiment of Spirit the Lady Taking the Newspaper, or the... Hanged Man....
Wiz: Eh, I'm sure there are much more disturbing and graphic paintings out there. But unbeknownst to many, this gallery is more than meets the eye; so much more. For you see, if you're lucky, you can come across one of Guertena's most obscure works: a gigantic painting known as the Fabricated World.
Boomstick: Wait, that's it? I mean, it's cool that it references some of his previous works, but I was kinda expecting more, y'know? Welp, let's just look at some other-
(As a clip plays of Ib walking out of the room where she viewed the painting, the music stops as Boomstick comes to a realization.)
Boomstick: ...Hey, where'd everyone go?
Wiz: Welcome, one and all, to the World of Guertena.
(Cue Dining Room - Ib OST)
Wiz: What you've just seen is no ordinary painting, but a gateway to another realm that is tied to the artist himself. Here, you'll find all of his greatest works, even ones not displayed in his museum, and not only that, but you might find that some of these artworks are... more alive than they should be.
Boomstick: That's right, we've got living paintings, statues and dolls, some of which are out to friggin' KILL YOU! I mean, Guertena was an odd man, but I never thought of him as the type of guy that would make an entire world full of killer art pieces.
Wiz: Well, that's the thing, the true origins of the Fabricated World are... murky at best. It is unknown how exactly it was created, and even if Guertena meant to create it, aside from some vague talk in his diary about "imparting his spirit into his creations". But, regardless of its origins, this twisted world of artistic vision serves as a frightening nightmare to any person unfortunate enough to come across the gateway.
Boomstick: But if you're lucky, amidst all the creepy mannequin heads and crawling painting ladies chasing you down, you might find someone else trapped inside this hellish realm of creativity: a little blonde girl with a green dress.
Wiz: This girl is but a fellow wanderer of the Fabricated World. She'll be your companion in going through this odd place, helping you get through puzzles and evade hostile entities. Sure, she has a bit of an... odd disposition sometimes, but it's probably nothing. Besides, would you really blame her? She's a prisoner of this place too, after all.
Boomstick: Oh hey, I just wandered off and found this neat little book full of Guertena's works, arranged in order for me to read! Let's see, the Lady in Red, the Geometrical Fish, Enlightenment, and... oh my god.
Wiz: One particular entry talks of the last work Guertena ever made before he died. One that appears surprisingly lifelike, but is not based on a real person. And this entry has the image of the painting of a girl who might just look familiar to you...
Boomstick: The name of this entry? Why, the name that mysterious girl introduced herself with!
Wiz: Mary.
- Name: Mary
- No, her full name is not Mary Guertena, that is literally it
- Age: Unknown, but a child
- Occupation: Living painting within the Fabricated World
- The final artwork of Weiss Guertena
- Likes drawing with crayons and "cute" dolls
- Has official Fangamer merch (which I bought)
(Cue Puppet (Mary’s Theme) - Ib OST)
Boomstick: Wait, this is who we’re pitting against the Ink Demon? Wiz, I know we’ve had children on this show before, but they at least had monster friends or special abilities! What’s Mary gonna do, ask Bendy to solve a puzzle?!
Wiz: Funnily enough, she does have both of what you just mentioned, but we’ll get to those in a bit. While Mary doesn’t seem like much, there’s much more to this little girl than meets the eye.
Abilities and Arsenal
- Superhuman strength, speed and durability
- Pallet knife
- Yellow rose
- Lifeforce tied to painting
- Creation via crayons
- Managed to create the entire Sketchbook area
- Control over the Fabricated World and its inhabitants
Wiz: For one, her inhuman nature allows her to perform some quite frankly impressive feats. Most notable is how she can create a giant crack on a floor with a single stomp, but she can also fairly easily overpower Ib and Garry, the two protagonists of the game. Both can survive attacks from paintings within the Fabricated World and fall from great heights, then get up after only being knocked out for a short while by the latter.
Popup: While some may argue that the only reason Ib and Garry survived the falls was because their roses, which are attached to their lifeforce, weren’t touched, it is highly unlikely that all attacks that damage them in the game specifically target their roses.
Boomstick: Mary is also surprisingly fast too! She can run across rooms in seconds, move to different parts of the Gallery in a short amount of time and keep up with Ib and Garry; Ib in particular can react to guillotines, dodge flying weapons and fireballs and somewhat avoid weird multicolored comet things while walking through a space-themed part of the gallery!
Wiz: Mary’s primary weapon is her palette knife. While it looks scribbled into existence with crayon, which we’ll further touch on later, it is a very real weapon that she can use against those who anger her. When combined with her superhuman strength, the palette knife makes Mary a surprisingly lethal threat.
Boomstick: Yeesh, this kid’s a psycho in training! Guertena, my guy, you probably should have found a way to teach your creation that uh, stabbing people is bad?
Wiz: The only other item that Mary usually carries around with her is a yellow rose. Remember how we said roses are tied to someone’s lifeforce in the Fabricated World, meaning it gets damaged if you do and vice versa? Well, Mary has one of those… except it’s fake, since she’s a painting and not a human.
Boomstick: Soooo, she doesn’t.
Wiz: She doesn’t. However, there is one advantage to Mary’s rose being fake; and that is that unlike other roses, plucking its petals or damaging it in any other way will not harm her. That’s because her lifeforce is actually contained within her painting, which is hidden in a room in the Sketchbook realm. The only way Ib and Garry were able to deal with her for good in-game was via finding this painting and damaging it, namely by lighting it on fire.
Boomstick: GodDAMN! Wait, that’s all she has? Just a knife and a kinda specific way to kill her?
Wiz: Nope, because now we’re getting into possibly her most dangerous aspect: her crayons.
Boomstick: …Wiz, you can’t be serious.
Wiz: I am serious, Boomstick. Remember how we mentioned the Sketchbook earlier? That entire realm was quite literally drawn into existence by Mary herself, as is almost every other part of the Fabricated World that looks scribbled in crayon. Despite how impossible it may sound, her drawings can take on actual, physical properties and perfectly replicate whatever she’s trying to emulate with them. Drawn water will flow and feel just like actual water; ice will actually freeze things and melt just like real ice, heck, she’s even created living beings!
Boomstick: That’s not even the half of it! She can draw into existence buildings, miniature stars, gigantic pathways across the void, small meteors, fireballs, flying piranhas, even THE SUN! It emits actual heat you can feel, produces actual light that can be reflected, the whole shebang! Additionally, judging by how fast it took her to run to the Sketchbook and make this drawing of Ib and Garry, she’s pretty quick when it comes to creating these drawings as well!
Wiz: Mary can even create white scribble blockades that will, well, block your path, and scribble out a certain area on a path with black crayon so that no one can walk on it- unless they scribble on it with another color. Remember how we mentioned her painting was hidden in a room earlier? Well, she also blocked the entrance to that with vines to make sure no one could enter.
Boomstick: But if you don’t think Mary’s enough, there’s an even bigger threat waiting for you when facing down this painting child: the very world she resides in!
The Fabricated World
- A massive realm filled with puzzles one needs to solve in order to progress
- Can affect the feelings of those inside it and make them start to go insane the longer they stay, to the point where they will see hallucinations
- Filled to the brim with a variety of art-themed creatures
Wiz: The Fabricated World is a dangerous place to traverse, as colorful and classy as it looks. Each area has quite a few puzzles and traps one needs to solve in order to progress, which can quickly leave you stuck somewhere if you’re not so crafty. But what’s even more dangerous is the effects it has on your mind. According to the in-universe book called Ruin of the Heart, making rash, unwise decisions in the Fabricated World will cause one’s mental state to gradually deteriorate, until it gets so bad that they start seeing hallucinations.
Boomstick: To sum it up, if you decide to say, kick a few art pieces or view a certain painting, you’ll start to see hallucinations of yourself or people you know from far away, and in the worst case scenario, they’ll even talk to you and convince you to stay. If you’re not wise enough, you could end up getting trapped forever by following one of these fake people without even realizing they’re fake!
Wiz: But of course, what’s most dangerous about this anomalous realm are the various hostile, living art pieces that reside there, many of whom will attack at the slightest provocation.
- Blue Dolls
- Red Eyes

- The Lady in Red
- The Lady in Blue
- The Lady in Green
- The Lady in Yellow
- The Lady Gazing at Emptiness
- Claws
- Mannequin Heads
- Flowers of Jealousy
- Death of the Individual/Headless Statues
- Spitting Painting
- Flying Tools
- Guillotines
- Stick Figures
- Mayhem of Color
- Red Slash Mark

(Cue Inquiry - Ib OST)
Boomstick: Starting off, we have the Blue Dolls, one of the most prevalent types of living artworks in this place. Admittedly, they’re not much, seeing as how they’re extremely fragile and capable of being ripped apart and only occasionally attack, but dear god, these guys are creepy as hell! Plus, some of them can even talk!
Wiz: There is one particular Blue Doll who is far more dangerous than the rest however, and that is the monstrous Red Eyes, an utterly gigantic version of the typical dolls with long arms who is contained within a painting. If someone is trapped within his room, he will slowly begin to climb out, then do… something. We’re not exactly sure. All we know is that he was able to drive Garry completely insane, and it’s likely that if needed, he can attack physically as well with his sheer size.
Boomstick: Aw come on, it’s not that impressive, ol’ Garry’s just a big scaredy cat! But for a much more mobile threat, the Gallery has the Painting Ladies, who can only emerge halfway out of their paintings. This forces them to literally crawl around on their arms in order to reach their targets, and despite what you may think, these damsels of distress can be quite fast! Hell, they can even break through windows AND stone walls after a few hits, and remember, Mary is stronger than them!
Wiz: Other enemies include shadowy claws that emerge from the walls to attack stragglers, mannequin heads that can catch the unsuspecting off guard but are quite fragile, a flower painting that can summon impenetrable vines from the floor, headless statues that chase you down, and a painting that can shoot damaging spit. And keep in mind, we’ve only just barely scratched the surface when it comes to the artworks within the Gallery.
Boomstick: There are also, and I shit you not, flying knives, spears and chainsaws which will attack you within the Sketchbook, actual guillotines that can crush you to death, and a sentient slash mark that will fly towards any targets! For more hostile paintings, you’ve also got a set of six portraits who utterly hate liars, living stick figures, and yet another killer painting that’s just splotches of color, because why not?
Wiz: Even the ones that don’t actively attack unfortunate visitors are much more than they seem. To start, there’s the Tattletale painting, a mouth that can hear secrets through another painting known as the Strained Ear and whisper them back to Mary, giving her valuable intel. Meanwhile, the Lady With Her Umbrella can summon actual rain inside her room, the Truant Seconds Hand can change the time within the Gallery, the Sinister Painting can cause hallucinations, and the Guardian of Time, if given a sufficient offering, can literally stop time for a brief moment.
Boomstick: And you’re telling me some random artist managed to create all this?! Hey, listen, Guertena, if you’ve got classes as to how to bring your drawings to life, then go ahead and sign me up! I’ve been dying to make this beer can robot art piece of mine real!
Wiz: Boomstick, Guertena is dead.
Boomstick: Well, I’ll just contact his ghost then! Shouldn’t be too hard, right?
Wiz: I don’t think the Gallery would like that.
Boomstick: Pfft, what’s the Gallery gonna do when I hit all ‘em paintings with my trusty shotgun-
Wiz: If one pushes the rules of the Gallery itself to their limit, as proven, ironically, by Mary herself in one ending, the Gallery can just warp itself and essentially trap you in darkness forever.
Popup: This only happens in the A Painting’s Demise ending, however, judging by several other endings where the Gallery traps Ib by conjuring illusions of her mother or Garry, its supernatural ability to trap those who attempt to escape remains consistent.
Boomstick: …what the FU-
Wiz: Speaking of Mary, let’s get back to the fabricated girl herself, shall we?
Feats
- Created a giant crack in the floor by stomping on it
- Can one-shot both Ib and Garry, who can survive multiple attacks from other paintings and enormous falls
- Kept up with Ib, who can dodge guillotines and flying weapons
- Upscales from the Painting Ladies, who can shake a room and break a stone wall after a few hits
- Kept up a friendly facade until Garry found her name in a list of Guertena’s artworks
- Created the entire Sketchbook realm
- Successfully killed Garry by stealing his rose and plucking it in several endings
- Succeeded in the Together, Forever and Welcome to the World of Guertena endings
Wiz: To go over several of Mary’s more notable feats again, she was able to cause a massive crack in a floor with a single stomp, one-shot and keep up with Ib and Garry, who can survive massive falls and dodge guillotines and projectiles, and presumably created the Sketchbook realm, which consists of buildings, lakes, pathways, and even an artificial sun and several other floating constructs.
Boomstick: She’s also a cunning little one too, being able to keep up a friendly and cheerful facade around Ib and Garry, which worked pretty damn well up until the latter found out she was a painting through a book. Speaking of Mr. Tumblr-bait, she was also able to outright kill the guy in several endings by stealing his rose and plucking it!
Wiz: Remember when we said that Mary was a prisoner of the Fabricated World? It isn’t just part of her facade; despite it being her home, in a sense, she really does feel trapped there. Mary’s greatest desire is to escape into the outside world and become a real person, being able to experience all the things humans can instead of living a lonely existence in a false world where her only companions are other living artworks. She just wants to make friends and have fun, but alas, the only way she can exit safely is to trade a soul, in this case Garry’s.
Boomstick: Since her artist dad never really taught her all the pesky stuff such as morals and whatnot, Mary is willing to achieve this through any means necessary, as you can kinda tell by now. Hell, in one ending, she manages to outright succeed and finally live out her days as a real child with an actual family, thanks in part to some weird history manipulation on the part of the Fabricated World. In the other endings? Not so much.
Weaknesses
- All artworks in the Fabricated World can be destroyed through fire
- Targeting her painting can kill her
- Quite prone to anger when things don’t go her way
- Susceptible to becoming unhinged and insane
- Can be easily knocked out if caught off guard
- Still just a child mentally
- Fabricated World can turn against her in specific circumstances
Wiz: Mary’s biggest weakness is that all artworks of Guertena are extremely vulnerable to fire, including herself. Though Ib and Garry needed to actually find and burn her painting first, once they did so, Mary crumbled into ash almost immediately. Fire is such a danger to the artworks that lighters are outright prohibited in the Gallery, though Garry didn’t seem to get the memo.
Boomstick: Her other biggest weakness is her own mind. In the end, behind all her weird creation powers and superhuman strength, she’s still a child at heart, and thus can be prone to anger if things don’t go her way. And though it certainly makes her much more dangerous, she also has a habit of breaking down and pretty much going insane, laughing and stabbing mannequin heads and all that… yeesh.
Wiz: Addtionally, one particular instance, Garry was able to outright knock her out by merely shoving her to the ground after catching her off guard, meaning she’s essentially a glass cannon in the right situations. Granted, Mary quickly woke up afterwards and ran off, but it’s still certainly one of her weaker moments. And lastly, as we established before, if Mary tries to escape the Fabricated World before she takes a soul, the Gallery will turn against her and trap her, though she usually has its inhabitants under her command every other time.
Boomstick: Despite all these shortcomings however, Mary is undoubtedly a deceptively strong, creative and cunning painting child with the force of an entire realm of art backing her. So don’t even think of getting in her way, because she’ll never give up her dream of becoming free and cutting her Fabricated strings… no matter what it takes.
"…Mary… I’m Mary… Ehe, hehehe, hehehehehe… Ahahaha, ahahahaha… My name is Mary…"
Pre-Fight[]
Wiz: All right, the combatants are set, and we’ve run the data through all possibilities.
Boomstick: IT’S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLEEEEEEEEEE!

Death Battle![]
Moonlight shone upon an empty road as a truck drove through in the middle of the night. Inside were several massive packages, all containing priceless works of art from a famous museum. In the front, two employees sat, looking around as they discussed their current job.
Worker #1: Don’t you find this whole thing kinda weird? I mean, bless his soul, Guertena was a great artist, but why’d they pick Joey Drew Studios of all places to display his art as part of some “collaboration”?
Worker #2: I dunno man, that’s what the owners of the art gallery wanted. Something about “the power of shared creativity”, or some generic stuff like that.
Worker #1: Right, right… just can’t believe we have to do this while it’s so dark out. Place gives me the creeps.
Worker #2: Let’s just get there, drop off all those paintings and stuff, and go home. At least we’ll get a paycheck for this.
The truck continued onwards until at last, it reached a massive, slightly dilapidated-looking building. This was the legendary Joey Drew Studios, home to the classic cartoon known as Bendy and all the imaginative wonders associated with him that were brought to life. The vehicle stopped, allowing several other workers to exit the truck and begin hauling out its items, taking care to not drop them. The artworks of Guertena were all loaded onto carts which the people then began pushing towards the building, as one more worker held the door open.
Worker #1: God, what is this dump? Feels like the place hasn’t been touched for years…
Worker #2: Heard they have only one janitor here, and that’s he’s a bit of a nutcase.
Worker #1: Are you seeing this?! Ink all over the walls, broken floor tiles!? This is more than some “nutcase janitor”; and sweet mercy, is this place dark!
Worker #2: Just quit yapping, we’ll be done soon.
As the workers continued to move the artworks, they weren’t aware that the ink stains that covered the normally-pristine halls were beginning to expand in size. While at first they were able to proceed onwards, soon they began to get stuck in the ink, which made several of them recoil.
Worker #2: The hell is this stuff?!
As they tried to push their carts forward once more, one worker suddenly screamed as something within one of the ink puddles began to drag him down, the man flailing uselessly before he disappeared into the liquid. The others began panicking and running, but soon arms began to pull them in as well. As if things couldn’t get any worse, their cargo was quickly sinking into the dark puddles, the few who managed to escape outright forgetting them as they scrambled to get away from this strange phenomenon. As workers and carts loaded with artworks alike quickly sank into the ink, the halls echoed with frantic screaming, before growing quiet once more as the last of them disappeared.
Location: The Cycle
The monotone halls of another dimension were beginning to get crowded as humanoids walked out of different locations, all crowding around the same collection of objects. An hour or so ago, these had fallen into the Cycle along with several intruders from the outside world. The humans had been dealt with, converted into inky prisoners like the rest, but the broken pile of carts had remained untouched until now.
One of the so-called Lost Ones reached out and began to sift through the boxes that were once carried by the carts. The inky man was surprised to find several precious-looking paintings inside, and he quickly showed them to the others. Paintings were nothing new in the Cycle, but these were certainly something else. They were so… colorful and bright. The gathered Lost Ones continued to soft through the artworks, staring at each one with wonder and curiosity.
However, that all changed as they detected something approaching.
(Cue Bendy and the Ink Machine OST - An Unsettling Atmosphere)
The Lost Ones began to scramble everywhere as an ink puddle began forming close to the pile of discarded art pieces. The room seemed to grow colder as a tall, malformed creature slowly rose from the ink, revealing a horned head and a wide, uncanny grin. Thin yet deceptively strong arms hung from his sides, one covered in a cartoony glove, while equally malnourished-looking legs supported his demonic frame.
Every resident of the Cycle still there, hiding behind something, was frozen with fear as they saw him: the ruler of the dimension, the strongest creature that lurked in these forsaken halls.
Bendy, the Ink Demon.
The failed creation of Joey Drew stepped forth, cautiously examining the stack of artworks as his subjects dared not move a muscle. After a few seconds, the demon reached towards the stack and began to dig through it, shoving paintings and dolls aside as they were stained with ink. Finally, he saw something that caught his attention, and lifted it up.
It was a gigantic painting of some multicolored world. The Ink Demon stared at it with an unreadable expression, his head tilting to the side. Just what was this collection of items? It certainly wasn’t native to his realm. And why did this painting specifically give him such a strange feeling? The monster looked closer, seeing the name of the painting engraved under its frame:
Fabricated World
As soon as he read it, the lights suddenly went out. The Ink Demon looked around, genuinely puzzled. Strange phenomena happened in the Cycle all the time, but this was something else.
Something not of his doing.
Bendy dropped the massive painting he had lifted up, causing it to disappear into the unforgiving darkness. As he prepared to wander the void, light suddenly entered his surroundings again, which only made him realize that something was definitely off.
For the place he now found himself in was not the Cycle anymore.
(Cue BGM008 - Ib OST)
The halls were far too pristine, the place was far more normal-looking… and yet something still felt off. This didn’t feel like the real world at all. It was too empty. The Ink Demon’s head craned around, seeing a poster advertising an art gallery. Was this meant to represent what this place was supposed to be? Growling, Bendy turned away before beginning to wander the place he had suddenly entered.
With every step, ink began to spread across his surroundings. At first, the demon was puzzled, but now, he was intrigued. This wasn’t part of the Cycle at all, but instead another strange dimension. Perhaps he could spread his inky rule here and find new subjects, if there were any. Ruling the Cycle was satisfying, but taking over a new place like he did the Studios was certainly a captivating idea as well.
He continued to look around at the art pieces, noticing the color on each of them. Colors such as red, blue, green and yellow were almost foreign in his world. Eventually, after walking around the entire place, he simply stopped.
There had to be more than just his area, he could feel it. Grinning, the demon began to sink into the ink underneath him, his lithe form eventually disappearing into the darkness. Unbeknownst to him, several residents of the Cycle who had been transported there with him had noticed his departure, and soon attempted to follow suit.
Location: Blue Area
Meanwhile, within another section of this strange dimension, someone else was wandering the halls. A little girl in a green dress hummed to herself as she traversed gloomy blue rooms without much of a care in the world, almost as if she was used to being in these near-empty locations. She looked at the walls, seeing paintings which she waved to, like she was greeting people she was familiar with. Her eyes blue eyes scanned the area as the golden-haired child continued to do nothing but wander, seemingly growing a little bored.
How many times had Mary done this? She did not know. While it was quite fun sometimes to play around with the others in this supernatural world, solving puzzles and drawing whatever came to her artistic mind, the feeling of loneliness was still gnawing at her day by day. Would she ever be able to leave this place? Would someone come here and provide her a ticket out of isolation, with nothing else but the other living artworks of the gallery to keep her company? She did not know.
All she could do was wait.
And that’s when she felt it. There was someone else here! But… their presence felt off. Unnerving. She didn’t like it. Cautiously, Mary began to walk down the Blue Area, ready to pull out something to defend herself, just in case. The blonde girl continued to walk until she saw something that instantly caught her attention: a growing puddle of black liquid on the blue floor. What was that? It certainly wasn’t crayon or paint.
What was going on?
Mary then stepped back in alarm as she saw a form begin to ascend from the liquid. A thin monster coated in black, with a few bits of white on it. Even for someone like her, who was more than used to seeing some unnerving beings within the Gallery she resided in, this thing was scary. Mary just continued to stare at the misshapen being, flinching as she saw its grinning head snap towards her, its gloved hand twitching. More of the black liquid dropped from its towering form as it slowly turned around, almost seeming to gaze into her inner being despite its lack of eyes.
Then… it spoke.
The Ink Demon: How interesting…
An rumbling, deep voice seemed to pierce into the painting child’s very mind, the Demon tilting its head as it talked.
The Ink Demon: It seems I am not alone in this colorful place…
Startled, Mary immediately spoke back.
Mary: W-who are you?!
The demon seemed to chuckle in response.
The Ink Demon: I am the Ink Demon… and this realm of yours is quite… fascinating. Perhaps the Dark Puddles can spread hereeeee…
Bendy’s voice seemed to gargle as he finished his sentence. Mary only grew more concerned at this larger being. What did it mean?
The Ink Demon: I can feel it… this world has been abandoned. All of these creations, left to rot. But do not fear, child… I will make it all better. Once the Dark Puddles spread to here, your world will no longer be abandoned. You will join the Cycleeee…
Mary: T-the Cycle? What is that? Is that your home?
Before the Demon could answer, a word suddenly formed on the wall with an audible sound that caught both of their attentions, written in blood-red letters.
L E A V E
Mary noticed it, and as she read the letters, her demeanor suddenly changed, and when she spoke again, her voice took on a more serious, somewhat creepy tone.
Mary: It seems the Gallery doesn’t like you… why is that?
The Demon growled as he saw this. It seemed he wasn’t welcomed here, but he didn’t care. Only his rule, his word mattered.
The Ink Demon: That does not matter, little one. I will liberate your world from its torturous existence, make it part of something new… all you have to do is give in.
(Stop music)
As he spoke, more ink began to spread around him, his grin seeming to grow wider. From the puddles, several Lost Ones began to emerge, along with other malformed ink creatures, such as a trio of short cartoon-resembling beasts horrifically morphed and warped in appearance, some wielding tools while others were fused to objects, and a group of crawling ink humanoids who didn’t seem to have legs or eyes.
These were the residents of the Cycle, who were all under the command of the Ink Demon and waiting for his orders.
The Ink Demon: And I’m afraid you don’t have a choice.
The painting girl backed away, scared and intimidated as the different ink monstrosities stared her down, ready to attack at any moment. She looked behind her, undoubtedly thinking of running from the army of darkness that now stood in front of her as Bendy simply watched with sadism.
The Ink Demon: What’s the matter, child? I will not make it too… difficult.
Mary: …Get out, or else.
The demon simply grinned at her attempt to defy him. What did he have to fear from someone like her? The malformed Ink Bendy took another step forward, then stopped walking as something caught his attention.
From behind Mary, other beings were beginning to emerge, and the creation of Guertena acknowledged their entry with a nod and a slight smirk. Pale heads appeared out of seemingly nowhere, staring back at Bendy’s gathered army as tiny blue dolls clad in dresses of different colors also advanced forward, giggling creepily. What appeared to be human ladies with half their bodies stuck in golden painting frames crawled towards the rival gathering of living art as headless statues wearing dresses and heels followed suit.
The Gallery was not happy with the Ink Demon’s ambition to conquer it, and so, like white blood cells, the living creations of the Fabricated World had been sent to aid Mary in getting rid of the infection that was the Cycle’s inhabitants.
(Cue Paint Our Gallery - u/fly_past_ladder)
Mary’s eyes narrowed as she pulled out her trusty palette knife. Even if she wanted to leave this place with all her heart, it was still her home and a sacred reminder of the father she longed to see. She could not let this demon taint and twist all of it to his liking, she had to get rid of him.
Bendy groaned at the assembled army of Guertena’s artworks behind Mary. He should have expected some resistance to come from this new world, but in the end, it didn’t matter. They would be torn apart like so many of his enemies had before, and when he was done, this realm would become a part of his endless Cycle for him to rule over for all eternity. The Demon’s will would not be denied.
Both soulless creations stared each other down as the calm before the storm began to end, before Mary ran forward with her knife in hand, the Gallery’s creations following behind her. At the same time, the Cycle’s inhabitants charged forward at well, Bendy simply grinning at the sight as he stood there, waiting for Mary to reach him.
The Ink Demon: Foolish young one, your world will be lost to the ink! Destroy them, my domain!
Mary: If you won’t leave, then you’re in my way! I won’t let you ruin Father’s place!
FIGHT!
The war finally kicked off as both sides clashed into each other, Bendy and Mary’s minions immediately going on the attack. One of the Painting Ladies leapt upon a Searcher, tackling it to the floor and striking at its face while the inky humanoid attempted to shove her away. Meanwhile, a Lost One with a pipe swung his weapon at a Headless Statue, knocking the art piece back before it ran towards him again, attempting to grab his weapon. Another Lost One saw this and went to help her comrade, only for a Blue Doll to jump towards her face, making her struggle as it blocked her vision and laughed obnoxiously before she ripped it off and threw the stuffed creep away.
While all this and more went on, Mary continued to run until she finally reached Bendy, swinging her knife at his chest with a yell. However, this was interrupted as the Ink Demon caught her arm before casually lifting her up, chuckling at the painting child.
The Ink Demon: Tell me, what were you trying to accomplish?
As Mary struggled in his grip, he tossed her aside like trash, making her hit the wall with a grunt. The ruler of the Cycle began to approach, his hands twitching in anticipation, before he suddenly felt something on his back. Distracted, Bendy turned his head to see a Mannequin Head on his shoulder, staring at him. Growling, the Ink Demon grabbed it before tossing it down, shattering the art piece into pieces as red liquid stained the floor.
Unfortunately, this little distraction had left him open for his younger foe to attack.
The Demon was caught off guard as he felt Mary’s palette knife slash into his back, before the painting child suddenly followed it up with an aggressive kick to his torso. Bendy was sent back by the surprisingly powerful hit, being knocked to the floor before he got up. As he did, his wounds began to seal up with ink, the cartoon devil grinning at Mary as she pointed her ink-stained knife at him.
The Ink Demon: You’re stronger than you look, but alas, that will only get you so far…
The painting girl simply narrowed her blue eyes at this statement, before jumping at the Ink Demon yet again. Her attempt at carving another slash into Bendy was interrupted as he caught her arm yet again, but the cartoon let go as something slashed at his neck, splattering ink from it. Ink Bendy spun around, seeing a shadowy claw emerge from the wall behind him, the culprit for the attack he just felt. As it swung at him again, the Demon lunged at it before grabbing onto it with one hand, ripping the arm out of the wall.
Tossing the lifeless limb to the side, Bendy was suddenly beset upon by a Blue Doll that leapt onto his back, making him growl in anger. Not bothering to reach for it this time, the Ink Demon simply conjured up a spike from his back that impaled the stuffed minion through the head, before the spike sank back into his inky body and allowed the “corpse” to fall. As he turned his attention back to Mary, the war between their respective armies continued to rage in the background.
One copy of the Butcher Gang was currently fighting off a Painting Lady and Headless Statue which had targeted them. Piper swung his pipe onto the Lady’s head, which only distracted her for a moment before she leapt at the twisted cartoon, tackling him into the wall. Fisher and Striker saw this, but were distracted as the Headless Statue charged towards them, swinging its arms at the duo. Striker blocked with his arm, allowing Fisher to swing his hook into the artwork’s midsection and topple it. Far from defenseless, the headless fiend reared back one of its legs before kicking Fisher in the face, making him stumble back. Angered, Striker reared back a fist before striking the Statue several times, the final hit breaking off an arm.
However, this attack was interrupted as suddenly, a spear flew through the air, impaling Striker through the chest and causing him to fall back, deceased. A similar fate met Piper, a hammer striking him as he attempted to shove the Painting Lady away from him, knocking him to the ground. As Fisher advanced towards her, hook ready to carve into the rival artwork, more Flying Tools soared through the air, all of them targeting Bendy’s minions. A Lost One, seeing his comrade get stabbed by a flying pair of scissors, grabbed a Headless Statue that was attacking him and shoved it into the path of another spear that nearby impaled him through the chest, killing it instead.
Meanwhile, Bendy bat aside a knife that was about to reach him, watching as more of the moving weapons attacked the Children of the Machine, before he heard a whirring from behind. Spinning around, the Ink Demon was caught off guard as Mary, now wielding a chainsaw, stabbed it into his gut, before letting go and allowing the flying weapon to shove him away while slicing further into his body!
As the ink abomination was pushed back, he quickly grabbed onto the tool before ripping it out of his maimed body and crushing its handle in a heap, dropping the destroyed chainsaw to the floor. As he did, Mary suddenly ran in, rolling at the last second and slashing Bendy in the legs. The Ink Demon stumbled as his younger foe stopped herself from going any further, getting up and looking at what was happening with their minions. She watched as the nearby Spitting Painting began to, fittingly, spit at Joey Drew’s creations, a Searcher being knocked back by the damaging spit. Just as a Painting Lady readied herself to leap towards the distracted Searcher, Bendy suddenly popped up right next to Mary and swung his arms down, forcing her to block with her palette knife.
The Ink Demon: Give up, young one, this is a hopeless endeavour!
Mary: Never! Not until you leave Father’s place alone!
Angered, Bendy shoved her back before kicking forwards, causing Mary to yelp as she was sent hurtling back. Immediately, a Blue Doll noticed this and jumped towards Bendy, but he simply grabbed it by the face and squeezed, reducing the doll’s head into a pile of stuffing. At the same time, a Lost One pulled out a pipe before stabbing it through the Spitting Painting, essentially killing it. Seeing all this, the painting girl began to get worried. Her fellow paintings were formidable, but in a straight fight, they would eventually be overwhelmed.
It was time to switch strategies.
The Fisher clone from earlier swung his hook at the head of the Painting Lady he was fighting, causing the crawling creep to go limp. Before he could do anything else however, a palette knife slashed through his neck, decapitating the twisted cartoon. From behind him, Mary, her knife now further stained with ink, pushed his body towards the Ink Demon before turning the other way and running at fast speeds, crossing the room in only a few seconds. Bendy, seeing this, growled before screeching, shoving aside the dead Fisher and pursuing his fleeing foe.
The Ink Demon: GET HER! TEAR HER APART!
The Ink Demon’s telepathic command rang in the minds of his remaining minions, and they obeyed as they all began to chase after Mary as well. Behind them, the artworks of Guertena also followed, aiming to intercept the army before they reached their creator’s final artwork. The hordes of living creations cleared out the room, the chase now on. Mary looked behind herself as she ran through the halls, seeing Bendy approaching her quickly. An aura of ink emanated from his very being, staining her home’s walls as the grinning demon reached out a hand in an attempt to catch her. She ran faster as Bendy did the same, the girl’s eyes widening as she saw a set of framed paintings on the wall up ahead. Now was her chance!
Right as Bendy began to catch up with his target, they began to run past a series of paintings, each showing a guillotine slowly rising higher and higher. Right as Mary went in front of the sixth painting, the Ink Demon mere inches behind her, she suddenly jumped forwards, landing away from him. Joey Drew’s first creation had no time to ponder as to why she did this before-
WHAM!
A guillotine blade suddenly shot out of the final painting, stabbing into and crushing Bendy’s frail-looking form against the wall! Ink splattered everywhere as Mary took this chance to run deeper into the Fabricated World’s halls with a new head start, the Demon growling in anger as she got further away from his range. With his inhuman strength, the living cartoon began to push away the blade, the massive cut in his side slowly healing like all of his wounds had. This world had a few fancy tricks, but none of it would matter.
He was eternal.
Finally, Bendy had enough space to move, and he continued to bolt towards where Mary had ran. As he did, the blade retracted back into the frame behind him, waiting for another being to activate its trap. It wouldn’t be long, as soon the sound of innumerable footfalls filled the halls, signalling the arrival of both Bendy and Mary’s allies.
A Lost One leading the charge was tackled from behind by a Blue Doll, which attempted to push them towards the paintings up ahead with as much strength as a tiny stuffed toy could muster. As the inky human grabbed it and attempted to throw it off, it held on, knowing what would happen if it was tossed all the way to the sixth painting. Meanwhile, a small horde of Searchers ran ahead, being followed from behind by Painting Ladies also crawling after them. A second copy of the Butcher Gang also present was ambushed from behind as a moving painting with splotches of colors on its canvas came from behind and tackled them, pushing them closer to the Process of Execution series of frames. The group’s Striker retaliated, smacking away Mayhem of Color in response.
As the conflict continued, both sides began to move ahead, closer and closer to the sixth painting. Dolls, statues and paintings struggled with Searchers, Lost Ones and Butcher Gang members, punching, clawing and leaping at each other. Some of them became tumbling heaps that only continued to advance forward with the fighters too distracted to even notice. Finally, a decent chunk of them attacked each other, pushing entities from both sides right under the final frame…
Let’s just say the results weren’t pretty.
SPLAT!
Meanwhile, somewhere else, a door creaked open, and a certain painting girl let out a sigh of relief.
(Stop music)
Location: Green Area
Maey quickly closed the door behind herself, sighing as she began to quickly walk through the halls again. The Demon was no doubt still after her; she needed a new strategy if she were to defeat him. She then sped her walk up into a run, seeing if she could find another one of her friends around the place.
Mary: I know there’s something around here…
The Ink Demon: Then it is a shame you will not last long enough to find it.
Mary: Huh?!
The painting girl looked around, wondering where Bendy’s voice had come from. He couldn’t have found her already, could he?
The Ink Demon: You cannot hide from ME!
As Bendy spat out that last word, he seemed to appear right in front of Mary, startling her as the Demon’s grinning form came into view.
(Cue Terrible Sin - Instrumental)
Before Mary could respond, the Ink Demon lunged fourth, tackling her into a wall hard enough to crack it. As she winced, Bendy thrust a hand forth, aiming to strike her in the face, but she quickly moved out of the way before jamming her knife right into his massive smile. The ink monstrosity roared, stumbling back as Mary quickly ran once again, causing her foe to growl angrily.
The Ink Demon: There is no use running, young one!
As she disappeared around a corner, the Ink Demon quickly pursued her, turning the corner himself and charging towards where he had seen her run off to. However, instead of just finding Mary, Bendy was caught off guard as some sort of scribbled-together fish with sharp teeth flew towards him the second he was within range, biting down on one of his arms. Quickly, the Demon kicked the piranha hard before plunging his free hand into its midsection, tugging on both arms to then rip apart the unruly piscine.
While Bendy dealt with the piranha, Mary was slowly backing away, drawing more creatures and objects into existence with her crayons. She knew she couldn’t last in a direct fight against the Demon that had invaded her world, so that meant she had to keep throwing more of her own creations at him. However, so far, he had been bulldozing through every challenge the Fabricated World had to offer.
There had to be a way of killing him… right?
As she pondered this, Bendy popped up behind her, grabbing her by the head before slamming her down onto the floor. Mary yelled out before grabbing one of the weapons she had drawn into existence, a spear, and stabbing it towards the Ink Demon, who simply chuckled as it only slightly pierced his midsection. As her taller foe lifted her up, in desperation, Mary grabbed one of her crayons, a light blue one, before drawing directly on the Demon’s arm itself. Confused, Bendy was actually startled as his arm started to feel cold, dropping Mary in response and allowing her to scramble back as his arm was then inexplicably coated in ice.
The Ink Demon: What…?
This confusion only lasted for a moment however, as he soon slammed his arm against the floor, shattering the scribbled ice around it and freeing his limb. Meanwhile, Mary was drawing yet again, this time using some sort of white crayon and creating a messy-looking mass in front of her. The Ink Demon, seeing this, charged only for the mass of white scribbles to suddenly increase in size, forming a shield which blocked him from reaching his target.
The Ink Demon: Enough of this!
Enraged, Bendy sank into the ground before appearing behind his foe, screeching as he swiped at her. Mary yelped as he was knocked to the ground, the Demon following it up by grabbing her arm and slamming her against the wall. As he went in for another slash, the painting girl quickly countered it with her knife before slicing at his wrist, making a decently-large cut that began to seal over with ink. Growling, the monstrosity turned to see his foe drawing an axe into existence, gripping it with her small hands as she looked at Bendy with a near-manic expression.
Mary: Leave, LEAVE… or else!
Shaking his head, Bendy let out a growl of defiance in response, glaring at his enemy. Instead of lunging however, he hunched down, his body beginning to shift and distort with the sounds of wet shifting and cracking. Mary stepped back while still gripping her axe, looking on in surprise as the Demon’s body began to shift in appearance. From his back came sharp spikes, his chest growing larger and more rigid with it. His arms began to lengthen, his fingers turning into sharp claws with those on his left hand breaking through the glove. As his feet shifted into hooves and lengthened as well, the Ink Demon opened his mouth, laughing and sending chills down Mary’s spine.
The Ink Demon: Your efforts are for naught… none shall defyyyyyy me!
As Bendy gurgled those last words out, he stood back up, his body now even more monstrous and combat-ready in appearance. The painting girl was clearly intimidated as she looked upon the Demon’s new appearance, but nonetheless she readied herself, thinking of how to get back to her fellow paintings as well, wherever they could be.
Flexing his clawed hands, Bendy charged forth with a fearsome roar, Mary bracing herself as she readied to swing the axe. Right before the Ink Demon could reach her, she jumped to the side, swinging her weapon and slashing the cartoon abomination across the neck. Not one to be outdone, Bendy quickly twisted around and kicked Mary with one of his hooves, sending her flying as she tried to hold onto her new weapon.
Deciding to try something else, the Ink Demon raised one of his arms before a cascade of ink surged forth, aiming to drown Mary or at the very least trap her where she stood. Alarmed, she quickly drew another white scribble blockade before she just as hastily climbed onto it, causing it to become a makeshift raft on top of the ink now coating the room. Seeing this, the still-grinning demon quickly sank back into the gloom, leaving him unseen as Mary looked around for her foe.
Mary: Where’d he-
Suddenly, something bursted out of the ink behind her. Readying her weapon, Mary was surprised to see not the Ink Demon, but a massive inky cartoon hand, ready to slam down on top of her and her barricade!
Mary: AH-
The entire room shook as the Giant Hand crushed the painting girl under its palm, dragging her and her makeshift raft beneath the inky abyss. Just as it did, Bendy rose up himself, chuckling victoriously as he looked over where the hand had sunk back down.
The Ink Demon: You are but a part of the Dark Puddles now, young one… embrace it.
His gloating was interrupted however as an axe was thrown out of the ink, striking him in the chest and making him step back as he growled in surprise. Quickly ripping the weapon out, the Demon was, for the first time in a while, genuinely caught off guard as a relatively unharmed Mary pulled herself out of the ink, staring daggers at him with a manic expression.
Mary: You…
Just as Bendy snarled back in response, the door nearby was suddenly forced open with a loud bang, making both abandoned creations turn towards it.
No one was there.
Their confusion lasted for only a second before Mary immediately bolted towards the door, the Ink Demon snarling as he chased her down in yet another game of cat and mouse. As the little girl ran through the open door, a gaggle of tiny red stick figures seemed to appear out of nowhere, all running towards the Ink Demon to attack. Mary looked behind her, sighing in relief as more of her fellow artworks came to her aid, before an inky figure suddenly erupted from the ground near her. It was a larger Searcher, which grabbed the painting before striking her several times, making her yell out in pain.
As Mary pulled out her knife to counter, Bendy meanwhile ran towards the stick figures, immediately grabbing and crushing one of them. Another one leapt up onto his face, but the Ink Demon simply opened his mouth before biting off its dangling legs, killing it instantly as it fell to the floor. The others began to swarm and crawl all over him, attempting to scratch him, punch him, just any attack they could think of. One stick figure was even tugging on his bow tie, attempting to rip it off. Growling, he ran backwards before slamming into a nearby wall, rattling the paintings on it and crushing some of his attackers. As for the annoyance attempting to ruin his bow tie, he bit down on its head, crushing it.
Meanwhile, as the large Searcher lunged for Mary, she promptly kicked it in the face, sending the creature back. Immediately following it up, she ran forward before attempting to stab it in the head, only for the inky humanoid to duck under her knife slash. In response, it headbutted her, making her stumble and almost fall before the little girl regained her balance. Her eye twitching in anger, Mary stepped back before beginning to draw on thin air again with a green crayon. As the Searcher crawled towards her, Guertena’s final artwork finished drawing into existence a gigantic thorny vine which suddenly came to life and shot towards her foe, wrapping around it like a snake. Before she could approach the trapped Searcher, she saw the nearby walls begin to become covered with ink. Quickly, Mary’s attention was drawn to the towering form of Bendy charging towards her, the dismembered red stickmen laying around his feet.
With a point of her finger, she commanded the vine to toss the Searcher at Bendy, who simply continued charging even as he accidentally stabbed into his own minion with his horns, just wanting to rip apart the painting girl. Tossing the Searcher aside with a wave of his head, the Ink Demon roared as he leapt towards Mary, the vine intercepting him by grabbing the monster mid-air. Beginning to slash at the vine holding him up in the air, the Demon decided to taunt his foe, speaking into her mind.
The Ink Demon: Tell me, young one, what will you have left if I am defeated…? You are alone in this world, abandoned by your creators. You have nothing!
At this, Mary faltered, her gaze becoming a thousand-yard stare.
Mary: No… no, no, no…
The Ink Demon: You know I am correct. Give up and join the Cycle, young one. I can give your existence meaning… all you have to do is-
Mary: STOP IT!
Mary’s angered yell seemed to shake the entire room as the vine wrapped even more tightly around Bendy’s body, aiming to crush him into paste. Despite this, the Ink Demon chuckled, clearly having hit a nerve with his foe. The little girl’s eyes narrowed, her rage rising at being reminded of her flawed existence. As the vine grew tighter and tighter, leaking ink from wounds it had made in the Demon’s body…
He vanished.
Mary was snapped out of her rage, looking around in shock at what had just occurred. Suddenly, the ruler of the Cycle emerged in front of her again, roaring and tackling the painting child as he charged forth. Grabbing onto one of his horns, Mary began to stab Bendy in the head, but he remained undeterred as the two approached a nearby door. After a few seconds, the Demon lowered his head, his foe realizing too late what he was planning before-
CRASH!
(Stop music)
The two were sent crashing through the door, and into another area of Mary’s home.
Location: Yellow Area
(Cue Instruments of Cyanide - Instrumental)
Mary was thrown to the floor, struggling to get up as her taller foe slowly approached, chuckling sadistically.
The Ink Demon: You can try and fight it, but in the end, there was only ever one fate in store for you…
The Demon reached forth a hand, preparing to corrupt the painting girl with the Ink and reduce her into another creature of the Cycle. Mary slowly backed away, scared as Ink Bendy picked up the pace.
That’s when she noticed it: another framed painting had appeared on the side of the wall. And the Demon was about to walk past it. Silently, she smiled.
The Ink Demon: What’s so- HRARRRGHHH!
Suddenly, the red slash mark that was in the painting flew out, slicing the Ink Demon’s torso and making him stumble to the side. Quickly, Mary tried to take advantage of this by running towards him with her knife in hand, but a cascade of ink erupted out of the floor, knocking her back in the process. Black began to overtake yellow as the ink flooded the area, making it resemble the color schemes of Bendy’s own world.
Recovering from his wound, the Ink Demon snarled before running forward, Mary yelping out in shock as she dodged to the side. She slashed at the back of Bendy’s knee, only to be sent back as one of his hooved feet kicked her away. Pulling out another crayon, she drew yet another white scribble blockade that grew in size before she pushed it towards the Demon, with all of her superhuman strength, the construct slamming against him and crushing him against the ink-stained walls.
Mary: Stay down, you monster!
Ink Bendy merely chuckled as he sank backwards into the wall, disappearing into a portal of ink. Learning from her mistakes, Mary looked around cautiously, gripping her knife tightly out of stress. The room seemed to grow darker, the Demon’s very presence corrupting the Fabricated World by the second. Yellow flashes of random images began to appear in the painting girl’s vision, making her stagger as remnants of the Cycle leaked into her realm. She gripped her head, yelling out as the Demon silently rose up behind her, jaws and teeth ready to tear her apart.
“Is that really you…?”
The Ink Demon paused as a new voice seemed to come out of nowhere. Turning around, the ruler of the Cycle growled with anger as he saw a familiar face. Dressed in formal attire, a mustached man smiled as he looked towards Bendy’s monstrous form.
His own twisted creation.
The Ink Demon: YOU… you do not belong here…!
Joey Drew: Do I? Look around you, this is the work of a fellow artist, and you’re desecrating it. Leaving it all besmirched!
The Ink Demon: You have no right to speak about desecration! You create nothing but failures…
Bendy stomped towards the man, snarling with hatred as his claws twitched.
Joey Drew: Perhaps I do. But this will fix nothing. Come with me, my creation. Leave this place, leave the legacy of a fellow artist alone.
Upon hearing this request, the Ink Demon roared and lurched forward, stabbing his claws into the chest of his own creator! Quickly, the man coughed up blood, glaring up at his monstrosity.
Joey Drew: I s-see now. You… you wretched thing, you have no respect for your creator! Unfortunately for you… she does not see eye-to-eye.
Suddenly, the man behind Bendy’s conception vanished into thin air, leaving the Demon to look at his claws, stained with nothing but his own ink! Joey Drew had been nothing more than an illusion, inflicted upon him by the very world he was trying to subjugate. And as he looked around, the Cycle’s strongest being saw red letters formed on an ink-stained wall, right next to where Mary once was.

As the Ink Demon stomped forth to pursue his foe, several living artworks entered the once-empty ink-stained hallways of the Yellow Area, making a beeline for the skeletal monstrosity. Painting ladies, stick figures, a framed artpiece, clawed arms, gigantic hands… an entire group of Guertena’s creations were there to confront Bendy and prevent him from chasing down the artist’s final masterpiece.
But that didn’t mean she was safe as well.
Location: Violet Area
Mary was close, she could feel it; just a little more running and she’d finally be somewhere she’d be most prepared for the Demon. The Gallery was guiding her to where she needed to go, and she assumed it was doing the same for her fellow artworks as well. The fabricated girl did not tire, instead she only grew more determined to reach the place she stayed in the most in this lonely world.
That’s when she noticed it: the ink.
No… how could it have spread here already?! That accursed liquid was coating the purple walls, corrupting more of her home by the second. Puddles began to bubble and shake before more of the monstrosities she had seen earlier emerged, including Searchers of different sizes, Butcher Gang members, and Lost Ones, many of whom wielded tools or weapons. Mary looked around with apprehension, her path of escape now blocked off by these melted abominations.

Trivia[]
- This is the fourth battle of GodzillaFan8889.
- The connections between Bendy and Mary are:
- (Core connections) Supernatural living artworks that reside in and rule over a separate art-themed world (the Cycle and the Fabricated World) made by their creators. Both are also the main antagonists of indie horror games and are made out of a liquid associated with art (ink and paint).
- Both are considered to be the most significant of all the cartoons/artworks in their world due to exact opposite reasons (Ink Bendy being the first ever creature created by the Ink Machine, and Mary being the last artwork Guertena worked on before his death).
- Both were eventually driven mad after being isolated for a while.
- Both are the main antagonists of their games, and are one of the only enemies that can one-shot the main character.
- Both, at one point, join the protagonists’ side only for the truth to be revealed to them (the Ink Demon joining Audrey’s side as the good Bendy before eventually transforming in front of her, and Mary joining Ib and Garry’s side only for Garry to discover that she is a painting)
- Both have faced off against a male protagonist that they absolutely loathe (Henry Stein and Garry), and a female protagonist (Audrey Drew and Ib), who they can ally themselves with in the correct circumstances in order to achieve their respective goals (the Ink Demon speaking to Audrey in order to help her thwart Wilson and eventually fusing with her, and Mary attempting to become Ib’s friend so that she can escape with her). However, they are still willing to kill said female protagonists if they have to.
- Both, at one point, were “dethroned” in some way (the Ink Demon being forcibly turned into the good Bendy and thus “defeated” by Wilson who takes his place as ruler of the Cycle, and the entire gallery turning against Mary after she tries to escape in “A Painting’s Demise”).
- Both kill a person (Joey Drew and Garry) significant to the protagonist at one point, which motivates them to fight back.
- Both were disintegrated by a key item in at least one ending (the End Reel and the lighter).
- Both are considered soulless in a sense.
- Both eventually escape into the real world with the protagonists, where they are altered in some way (the Ink Demon turning back into the good Bendy, and Mary becoming Ib’s sister in the “Together, Forever” ending).
- The connections between the Cycle and the Fabricated World (the worlds they rule over) are:
- Both are strange, otherworldly dimensions from indie horror games which were made thanks the actions of a now-deceased man aiming to create art of some sort (Joey Drew and Guertana). They can be entered from the real world through certain locations (the Joey Drew Studios workshop and the Fabricated World painting), and are associated with a strange artifact (the Ink Machine and again, the Fabricated World painting)
- Both are filled to the brim with living creatures, most of which are made of a liquid often associated with art (ink and paint). Said creatures (and the dimension itself) are modelled after certain types of art (cartoons and classic paintings/sculptures) and are highly aggressive to any humans that enter, with a few exceptions.
- Both dimensions feature all sorts of creatures, from smaller critters to humanoid creatures to massive abominations.
- Both are related to the manipulation of time in some way (the Cycle infinitely loops, as suggested by its name, and the Fabricated World has the ability to change the history of those who exit it).
- Both have the ability to alter those who enter it and turn them into another cartoon/artwork in the correct circumstances (Audrey and Wilson turning into a “cartoon form” of themselves in the Cycle, and Garry turning into a another painting if he dies in the Fabricated World)
- Both are “led” by a certain individual considered to be more significant than the others (Bendy/the Ink Demon and Mary).
- Meanwhile, the contrasts are:
- The Cycle is a black-and-white, yellow-toned world where color is completely alien, while the Fabricated World is a colorful, pastel world.
- Most of the creatures in the Cycle are (meant to be) former humans, meanwhile none of the paintings in the Fabricated Word are implied to be former humans.
- While both Bendy and Mary are heavily associated with the creators of their worlds, it is in completely opposite ways: the Ink Demon (and the rest of the Cycle) utterly loathes Joey Drew to the point where Bendy crushes a recreation of him at the ending of BATDR; meanwhile Mary views Guertena as her father and even calls out for his help at one point.
- The original track for this would've been called "Art of Darkness".
- This battle would’ve been animated in 2D sprites.
- Sprite art is by me! :D
- Bendy and Mary are two of GodzillaFan8889’s personal favorite horror antagonists, which is part of the reasons why he is so proud of this matchup (though to be fair, he has a lot of favorite horror antagonists, they’re all cool).
- Fanart credit goes to Seyermon and 浣熊丸@お仕事募集中.
- Fun fact: February 10 of this year (2024) marks the 7th anniversary of the Bendy franchise, and February 27 marks the 12th anniversary of Ib!
