Beck vs Copen is a "what if" Death Battle featuring Beck from Mighty No.9 and Copen from the Azure Striker Gunvolt series.

Description[]

Mighty No. 9 vs Azure Striker Gunvolt. Both combatants were inspired by Mega Man but only one will walk away. Will Beck prove his might, or will Copen slay another sin?

Interlude[]

The Blue Bomber has left us a legacy. While he may be dormant, other characters in the gaming world have appeared as tribute to him. And these two characters are not only inspired by Mega Man, but also use a dash attack as one of their main mechanics.

Beck, the 9th member of the Mighty Numbers...

...and Copen, the Adept Slayer

I'm Armagon1000 and it's my job to analyze their weapons, armors, and skills to find out who will win.....a DEATH BATTLE!

Beck[]

In the year 20XX, the U.S started building robots to do the stuff that was too dangerous for humans to do. However, this was not the only thing that robots were made for.  The National Battle Colosseum Association or NBCA, was formed. The champions of this battle Colosseum were Professor William White's Mighty Numbers. And out of all them, there was none more mightier, than Beck. However, Beck was different from his siblings. He was programmed with genuine human-level emotion and the ability to perform his own ethics. In a way, he's like X. Anyways, Beck wasn't always so Mighty. Sure, he fought in the arena, but this guy is small as fuck, so he got scared really easily. One day, however, all the robots in the U.S, except Beck, started acting strangely. They began rampaging, and one of the Mighty Numbers even took over the White House. Now was Beck's time to shine.

Similar to Mega Man, Beck has an arm cannon that he shoots. UNLIKE Mega Man though, this is NOT his primary way of fighting. Sure, he shoots, but this is to weaken the enemy. After weakening them, he dashes, or AcXelrates through them. This assimilates the robot and gives Beck different power ups depending on which types of robots he assimilates. Particularly, Blue Xel is stored in his body after assimilating them, because with the right amount, he can heal himself. AcXeleration isn't just used for offense, but its also used for mobility. He's able to dash past mines that are exploding right beneath him. And is strong updrafts, he can even AcXelearte to effectively "fly".

However, this is only half of what Beck can do. The other half comes from being able to use the abilities of his siblings. As Beck fought across the U.S, he assimilated the abilities of his fellow Mighty Numbers to get some neat tricks. These are called ReXelections. ReXelection Pyrogen allows Beck to create explosions, and the explosions get more powerful the more they are charged. ReXelection Cryophere fires ice balls that freeze the enemy. This is arguable Beck's best ReXelection. ReXelection Dynatron allows Beck to shoot small pellets that cling to whatever they hit. After that, he shoots electricity at them. Yeah, ReXelection Dynatron basically turns him into a discount Gunvolt. ReXelection Seismic turns Beck's legs into caterpillar threads and allow him to ram into anything in his path, breaking it. He also gets a neat deflector shield. ReXelection Battalion lets Beck shoot missiles that explode on contact and deal multiple damage. He can also shoot them at walls, where they'll cling and detonate a few seconds later. ReXelection Aviator turns Beck's hands into helicopter rotors that allow him to fly. He can also throw them like a boomerang. ReXelection Brandish gives Beck a sword arm, allowing him to quickly cut down foes. ReXelection Countershade gives Beck a sniper rifle arm that shoots bullets that bounce off walls. And finally, there's ReXelection MegaXel, which allows Beck to place Mega Drones that fire upon seeing the enemy. However, Beck does have one final attack....sort of. By absorbing the corrupt Xel from a target and filtering them out within him, he converts it into a cure, which he then fires at the target to incapacitate and correct them. However, if the target isn't compatible.....it just deals damage.

Beck, despite his small size, is a hero. He saved the entire U.S from a robot epidemic. He fought to save his Mighty Numbers, and he eventually fought and saved Trinity, the source of the robot epidemic. He also defeated Ray, and Ray could rip apart regular robots with ease

However, Beck isn't perfect. Because he's made of nanomachines, his durability isn't....great. To top it off, particularly powerful EM wavelengths will instantly destroy Beck's body. In addition to that, like Mega Man, Beck can only use his ReXelections a certain amount of time, though he can recover them by absorbing Xel.

Despite his flaws, Beck isn't going down without a fight.

Beck: "Professor, I....I'll do it!"

Copen[]

In an unspecified time in the future, people known as Adepts have begun appearing. Adepts have supernatural powers, such as controlling lightning, turning physical matter into data, and resurrecting the dead. Dr.Kamizono worked at a Sumeragi lab that tested experiments on Adepts. One day, in typical sci-fi fashion, an Adept went out of control and vaporized the entire research facility, killing everyone, including Dr. Kamizono. The Sumeragi organization covered up the entire event. However, Dr.Kamizono's son, Copen, wouldn't have it. He took up his father's gun, and swore to kill every last Adept, regardless of who they are. This earned him the nickname "Adept Slayer".

Copen's standard weapon is his gun. This gun has infinite bullets and it can fire on auto-fire. Its powerful enough to penetrate Gunvolt's shield, something which normally blocks physical projectiles. Copen also has a shield, which he can uses as a way to bash his enemies. He loses this shield in the first game, but we'll let him have it for the sake of the fight. Like Beck, one of Copen's main mechanics is his Bullet Dash. UNLIKE Beck however, the Bullit Dash isn't used to defeat enemies. Instead, its used to "tag" or lock-on to them. After an enemy has been tagged, Copen's weapons will automatically home in on them, which leads to some of them breaking the laws of physics just to make their mark. Copen has three Bullits which is what allow him to Bullit Dash. One Bullit is used up whenever he uses an Bullit Dash in the air that does not connect with anything. Making contact refreshes the Bullit. The Bullits have another use: evasion. Just like Gunvolt's evasion, as long as Copen has Bullets, any damage he takes is nullified. And like Gunvolt, he can recharge his Bullets whenever he wants and there's no limit to how often he can do it.

This is just one side of Copen, however. Just like the Blue Bomber, Copen gets new abilities whenever he defeats a boss. Actually, he doesn't need to kill a boss. He just needs to analyze their blood. This is where the EX Weapon Mirroring System comes in. Because Copen is human, he can't use Septima (the source of Adepts' abilities) by himself. So the EX Weapon Mirroring System is controlled by an A.I combat pod named Lola. She controls smaller drones called "bits" that are used when using EX Weapons. Arrogant Radiance fires a surface-level laser beam, followed by a swirling lance. Blazing Bombers fires a flaming arrow that detonates three lingering explosions in its path of fire. Flesh Eater fires a slow-moving swarm of insects that deal damage. Gorgon Gaze shines a light that turns anyone who looks at it into stone. Lazy Laser creates a wormhole, in which Copen then fires a giant laser into it. Then, other wormholes begin appearing, tracking the target and firing the laser, although at different angles. Power Grab is the only EX Weapon that is fired directly from Copen's gun. It fires magnetic bullets that are known for disabling Septima. Doppler Desire summons for Copen apparitions that briefly circle around him and then perform a shield bash on the target. Stellar Spark unleashes a spread of lightning straight forward. If a target has been tagged, Lola homes in on them and provides a direct shock. Hailstorm Blade creates two ice swords that can fire short range waves. But these aren't regular ice swords. No, these ice blades are actually colder than absolute zero. By definition, absolute zero is a temperature in which all molecular movement stops. So the fact that its colder breaks the laws of physics. That being said, we do know what happens if someone were to come in contact with these ice blades: Their molecular structure would shatter. Twintail Bunkers creates two hair drills that are thrust forward, or upward. They can also be thrust downward to boost Copen's jumps, though this only works on the ground. Hydro Zapper creates two water orbs that fire water lasers. Broad Circuit fire a wide range flurry of data that is especially effective on robots when tagged. Ferrous Fangs fire a blood-like substance that, upon making contact with a target, fly back to Copen and restore a bit of his health. Prism Break creates a prism. The longer its charged, the bigger and more powerful it gets. The prism does move slowly but it picks up speed the longer it travels, although it'll never go fast enough to the point where Copen can't keep up with it. And finally, Vantage Raid fires ring shaped projectiles that bind the target, preventing them from attacking or moving. All of these use up the Weapon Gauge, and when the Weapon Gauge is depleted, Copen must wait for it to recharge. When its at full, Copen can activate a Flashfield, similarly to Gunvolt. Unlike Gunvolt's, Copen's Flashfield doesn't deal damage, and doesn't affect his jumps. Its main use is defense, and it activates automatically to protect Copen from things like missiles.

Copen also has a few Skills. His main Skill is Shred Storm. When activated, Lola unleashes the smaller drones that perform an unavoidable attack that form the "claw" kanji.  Copen also has a healing skill which completely restores his HP. Then, there's Guilt Sequence, a Skill that Copen will only use when his anger is great. Guilt Sequence is a combination of attacks. It starts off with Gorgon Gaze, followed by the Lazy Laser wormholes. Instead of firing the lasers into the wormholes, however, Copen fires Power Grab into them. Next, Copen fires a surface level Blazing Bombers, with Arrogant Radiance above it. He finishes off with a Flesh Eater attack. His final skill is Doppler Destroyer. An enhanced version of Doppler Desire, Copen creates four doppelgangers, like Doppler Desire. However, this time, they all try to dash into the target. If just one of them connects, all four will shoot them, with the real Copen finishing the skill with an Impact Reload, dealing massive damage. I should note that Doppler Destroyer can only be used when Copen is under the effects of Anthem. Speaking of which, Anthem is activated by Lola. As she has the abilities of The Muse, whenever Copen dies, she can uses Anthem to resurrect him, along with powering up his abilities. She can also do this without the need for Copen's death.

Copen isn't called the Adept Slayer for nothing. He killed Zonda (well, an illusion anyways) who could create real illusions. He killed the third manifestation of Elise, an Adept who could resurrect the dead. He killed Desna, an Adept with infinite killer hair. He killed Asroc, an Adept who could control machines, even those beyond repair. He killed Ghauri, an Adept who could create crystals at will. He killed Tenjian, an ice Adept who wielded those colder than absolute zero ice blades I talked about earlier. And yes, Copen can survive those blades, with or without Prevasion. He killed Gibril, a metal controlling Adapt who could even control the iron in blood. He killed Milas, an Adept who could control all kinds of liquid matter (although he could really only control water due to his love for the sea). He killed Teseo, who could convert physical matter into data and vice versa. And remember Zonda. Yeah, Copen killed her again, although that was an illusion as well. When he fought the real Zonda, she had become a God with the ability to rewrite reality itself. But that didn't matter because Copen killed her anyways. Oh, and did I mention Copen defeated Gunvolt twice. Actually, he killed Desna, Asroc, Ghauri, and Tenjian twice and killed Zonda three times. As for Gunvolt, well, Copen never got the chance to actually kill him.

But despite these feats, Copen does have his flaws. Aside from being limited in how often he is able to use his Bullit Dashes and EX Weapons, Copen's Skills also have a cool-down period. In the first game, despite Copen having the abilities of the boss Adepts, the only ones he actually killed were Zonda and Elise. The rest were killed by Gunvolt and Copen simply picked up the leftovers. Oh, and speaking of GV, Gunvolt defeated Copen twice, and Copen also lost to Asimov. Copen's also incredibly stubborn.

Copen is someone who you do not want on your bad side. If you’re an Adept, doesn't matter who you are, Copen will come, and he will kill you.

Copen: "I would tell you to pray, but you would need a soul first."

Intermission[]

All right, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all. It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!

Death Battle[]

It was the middle of the night. Copen had broken into a secret facility. He need info on the abomination known as Adepts. He had sworn to hunt down and kill every last one of the. But little did he know that he wasn't the only one there. Professor White had gotten wind of the break-in, so he sent Beck to check it out.

"Boss, it sure is dark in here. Not that i'm afraid or anything." Lola said that, yet she did sound a little afraid. "Don't worry, we have what we need" Copen said as he turned around, some documents in his hand. Suddenly, the lights went on. Copen grabbed Lola (she is a small pod), and hid behind the counter. Someone was here. Lola hovered very slightly above the counter, just to get a view on who was here. "So, who is it?" "It's just some kid boss." Lola said that a little too loud, "Hey, i know your here. Show yourself." "Damn it. Lola, keep quiet next time." "Sorry boss." Copen got up, and Lola hovered over them. "Hey, your not supposed to be here" the kid said. "Hey boss, scans indicate that this kid is actually a robot. Do we fight it or nah?" Copen thought about it, then gave an answer. "Your not an Adept, nor are you affiliated with Adepts. There's no need to fight you. Just let me pass and save yourself." "I can't do that. Those documents are part of a new project to build robotic Adepts. Please return them" Beck said. "Robotic Adepts?! You would build such abominations?!" Beck could hear the anger in Copen's voice. "H-hey, Adepts aren't abomi-" Copen shot Beck before he could finish. "I'm not supposed to fight humans but you leave me no choice" Beck said, his arm cannon ready.

FIGHT![]

Copen preformed a Bullit Dash toward Beck. "That's reckless" Beck said as he shot Copen. But Beck's shots simply phased through Copen. "Huh?" Copen connected his Bullit Dash with Beck, tagging him. He then proceeded to shoot him several times. Beck tried to dodge but the bullets followed him. "But why?" Beck was a little scared.

But Beck wasn't gonna go down without a fight. He switched to ReXecletion Battalion and fired a missile at Copen. Copen's Flashfield activated automatically, blocking the missile. "What?!" Beck said. He ReXelected to Countershade and fired a bullet to the walls, which began to bounce off them.

"Strange trajectory" Copen said. He also noted how this robot could change its abilities. "Maybe i should do the same. Lola, you know what to do!" "Sure thing boss!" Against a robotic enemy, Copen had just the right weapon. "Lola, activate Broad Circuit!" Lola's color turned green. Now all Copen had to do was Bullit Dash into Beck again, as the tag had worn off.

"Oh no you don't!" Beck saw what Copen was trying to do. He shot him a few times but thanks to Copen's Prevasion, they all phased through him. "Maybe i need to hit him continuously." Beck ReXelected to Dynatron and fired pellets towards Copen. "What the hell are these...wait a minute" Copen couldn't help but think that what would come next was something he was used too. Suddenly, electric shocks shot out of Beck's arm, hitting Copen. Prevasion nullified them, but he ran out of Bullits. "Shit" Copen was about to reload but the Countershade bullet hit him, stopping him from reloading. The electricity didn't help.

"Lola, Ferrous Fangs." Copen needed to restore a bit of his health. Beck, on the other hand, had ReXelected to Seismic, creating a shield in front of him. Copen Bullit Dashed into Beck, and tagged him. He proceeded to fire several Ferrous Fangs, but the Seismic shield blocked them.

"All right, play time's over. Lazy Laser!" Lola opened up a wormhole, at which Copen fired a giant laser beam. "What?! I didn't know we had wormhole technology!" Beck was truly surprised. The wormhole opened up right above him, blasting him with the lases. "Ngh. Gonna have to use it now." Beck used the Blue Xel in his body to restore his health. "Neat trick." Copen wasn't surprised. He wasn't even scared. He has fought much worse.

Beck ReXelected to Cryophere in an attempt to freeze Copen. Copen countered with Blazing Bombers. The flaming arrow melted the ice and hit Beck. Or it would have he didn't switch to ReXelection Brandish. Beck slashed the flaming arrow in two. "..." Copen didn't say anything. He finally got his Bullit Dash on Beck. "Lola, Broad Circuit now!" Lola arranged the bits and fired a wide-range flurry of data, hitting Beck and dealing massive damage, as he was a robot. "No. Can't...let it end here." Beck used up his second tank of Blue Xel to heal himself. "Lola, again." A second wave shot towards Beck, but the tag had worn off, allowing Beck to dodge.

Beck ReXelected to Seismic and attempted to ram into Copen. Copen, tried something similar with Doppler Desire. Four Copen apparitions appeared and began circling around him, before shield bashing Beck. But Beck also had a shield so he and Copen were both sent back.

"So, that little bot is the source of his attacks. Better destroy it." Beck ReXelected to Aviator and show and threw his helicopter rotors to hit Lola. It scrapped off her side. "Boss, that hurt." Lola said. "Lola, you've been through worse" Copen said.He then turned to Beck. "That being said, you hurt Lola, and for that, your life is forfeit." "Yeah, Copen will beat you up. Don't worry though, your a robot so you'll be repaired." "No Lola. I'll destroy him so badly not even the Puppetmaster Septima can revive him!"

Beck switched to ReXelection MegaXel but Copen switched to Hailstorm Blade, shattering the attack drones. "What?!" The shattering of the attack drones scared Beck. "Time to send you to the scrapyard! Copen jumped up into the air and began chanting. "May claws shatter chains. Of those who traipse in my wake. Begone you impure. SHRED STORM!" The bits flew out striking Beck, forming the claw kanji (爪).

"Huh, that didn't finish you off" Copen said as he walked towards Beck. Beck tried to stand but Copen brought Hailstorm Blade down, slashing back and shattering Beck's molecular structure.

K.O![]

Results[]

Beck may be good but Copen simply had more tools at his disposal. Heck, Copen's EX Weapons are much more deadly than Beck's ReXelections. And while Beck does have experience under his belt thanks to saving the U.S, Copen has fought much bigger threats, including what was basically a God that could rewrite reality. And then there's the fact that Broad Circuit was Beck's bane, as he was a robot. Beck simply wasn't mighty enough. The winner is Copen.
