Batgirl vs Spider-Gwen is a What-If? Death Battle. It is Majora Moon's second fight of his first season. It features Batgirl from DC Comics against Spider-Gwen from Marvel Comics.
Description[]
Inspired by the Bat and Spider, these two police chief daughters duke it out, to see who is the ultimate femme fatalle.
Interlude[]
Wiz: Bruce Wayne and Peter Parker are incredible heroes who have managed to touch the lives of countless individuals across comic book multiverses.
Boomstick: These two heroes manage to be major influences on the lives of others, including two young women who went who went on to follow in their footsteps as heroes.
Wiz: Who both happen to be the daughters of police chiefs.
Boomstick: Huh. Odd coincidence.
Wiz: Barbara Gordon, the Batgirl and daughter of Comissioner Gordon...
Boomstick: ...and Gwen Stacy, the Spider-Woman of Earth-65, and daughter of Chief Stacy. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: It's our job to anylize their armor, weapons, and skills, to find out who would win......a Death Battle!
Batgirl Suits Up for Death Battle[]
Wiz: You will never find a bigger hive of crime and villany than Gotham City.
Boomstick: Luckily a crazy man dressed as a bat, who employees children fights crime with an arsonal of toys. Wait....that does not really make me feel safe.
Wiz: Well, Barbara Gordon sure felt safe with him around. In fact, inspired by the Batman, Barbara wore a female Batman costume for Halloween one year, and ended up stopping a crime. It was here, she decided to take up the name Batgirl!
Boomstick: Though good ol' classic Bats tried to talk her out of it, she continued her crime fighting.
Wiz: But with her sharp mind and police training from her father, Barbara was able to figure out Batman's identity.
Boomstick: Oh my god it's Bruce Wayne! What a shock!
Wiz: Well, yeah. Impressed by her deduction skills he took her on as a sidekick, and gave her access to the Batcave.
Boomstick: Thanks to Batman, Barbara has obtained a large assortment of gadgets to use in her crime fighting.
Wiz: Well, until Joker tracked her down and shot her ruining her legs, causing her to retire.
Boomstick: Don't worry. She got better.
Wiz: I guess, but can you imagine. Being paralyzed from the waist down. No feeling in your legs or anything.
Boomstick: OH GOD!
Wiz: See, it must have been a nightmare for her.
Boomstick: Anyway, back to the gadgets.
Wiz: I think there is more to talk about before we...
Boomstick: BACK TO THE GADGETS, WIZ!
Wiz: Alright! Alright! While not as impressive as the original Bat's arsenals, Batgirl has some handy gadgets to help her in her crime fighting. First off is the classic Baterang. There collapsible shurikens are capable of slicing through steel, and come in assortment of types. Just to name a few there are...
Boomstick: (inhales, and talks fast) Regular Batarangs which are the standard model, Sonic Batarangs which emit a sonic sound wave, Twin Batarangs which split into two, and finally Seeing Eye Batarangs, which can stick to surfaces and allow Batgirl to monitor the area, making it impossible for enemies to sneak up on her.
Wiz: She also has an explosive gel, which allows her to spray targets and then detonate an explosion.
Boomstick: She has a motorcycle and a grapple gun, allowing for transport, and thanks to her cape's specially made design, she is also capable of gliding.
Wiz: She is also highly trained in hand to hand combat. With teachings from both her father, and Batman himself Barbara is a masterful fighter.
Boomstick: Though, don't think she is invincible.
Wiz: Though she is still just human. After all, her initial costume was just a cheap home made Halloween costume, and she does not have much in the way of durability, due to, you know, having no powers. Luckily thanks to Bruce she was able to get a Kevlar vest sown into it making it nearly bullet proof.
Boomstick: Remember she is also capable of paralysis, like any human. Heck, the only reason she was able to walk again was because of an implant in her head that keeps her legs working.
Wiz: But at the end of the day, Barbara is capable of fighting crime, almost as well as the OG Bat himself Bruce Wayne.
The Night Gwen Stacy Entered Death Battle[]
Wiz: We all know the story of Gwen Stacy. The very first woman Peter ever truly loved.
Boomstick: And sadly when she went off to school in France, she was replaced in Peter's life by the 'inferior in every single way' Mary Jane Watson.
Wiz: That is until Gwen came back. After an encounter with Green Goblin, Gwen died of a fear induced heart attack as she was thrown off the bridge my the green maniac. Yet again, Peter had failed to save the life of those he loved.
Boomstick: Poor Parker. First his parents, then Uncle Ben, and now the true girl of his dreams? This guy can't catch a break.
Wiz: But across the multiverse, there was at least one timeline where things played out very differently.
Boomstick: Hell yeah they did! In the universe of Earth-65, Gwen was kind of a tomboy, in addition to being a genius in biology and other nerd topics. She spent her time playing Dungeons and Dragons with her best pals, Peter Parker and Harry Osborn.
Wiz: That is until the day he life was forever changed with a chance encounter with a radioactive spider.
Boomstick: All right, let's do this one last time. Gwen was bitten by a radioactive spider, and much like Peter on the main universe, and Miles of the ultimate universe, her uncle was shot up and killed.
Wiz: Well, not really.
Boomstick: Then where's the tragedy?
Wiz; Oh, there is tragedy to come. Initially Gwen used her powers as a costumed character named Spider-Woman, to try and get famous. That is until one night.
Boomstick: Where her uncle got shot!
Wiz: Will you shut up about dead uncles? Sure Peter and Miles have that in common, but for Gwen things were pretty different.
Boomstick: How so?
Wiz: Well, Parker was a big fan of Spider-Woman, and wanted to be special like her, so injecting himself with lizard DNA,
Boomstick: Oh! So, he's The Lizard in that universe?
Wiz: Well, he was, because Gwen, just seeing the lizard as a monster that was attacking the school, beat the beast to death, and upon being killed it reverted back to Parker.
Boomstick: Wait, instead of her uncle getting shot up by some guy, she unknowingly beat her best friend to death!?! Allright, that is way worse.
Wiz: Now wanted for the murder of Peter Parker, Spider-Woman decided to dedicate her life to preventing others from facing the tragedy she faced, and even stopped trying to make friends. Sure she joined a band, but they were more like collegues than friends.
Boomstick: Heck Em Jay, was always a total bitch to her, and Gwen just took it.
Wiz: But to fight crime, Gwen needed to make sure she was ready. Luckily thanks to a retired Janet van Dyne, she was given a set of web shooters. Much like Spider-Man's these contain webbing fluid that will dissolve after 24 hours, and are strong enough to ensnare the Hulk.
Boomstick: She also has the standard powers of the Spiders. Super strength, super speed, super healing, superhuman durability, and even wall crawling.
Wiz: However, Gwen has since been depowered by Silk, or rather the Cindy Moon of her universe. But she has been able to somewhat get them back thanks to an experimental symbiote made by Reed Richards....in her universe.
Boomstick: Though, she's not buddy buddy with hers the way Venom and Carnage are with their respective hosts, and the two are instead reluctant allies in a fight against crime.
Wiz: Though, with this symbiote, Gwen's powers are better than ever, almost even bringing them up to the levels of Peter and Miles, who she would normally be significantly weaker than.
Boomstick: Yeah. Even though with her original powers, Gwen was strong enough to punch The Rhino through a wall!
Wiz: She's fast enough to not just dodge bullets, but also managed to catch them mid shot.
Boomstick: And that's before she got her symbiote! Man, she must be unstoppable with it.
Wiz: Well, she does have the traditional weaknesses that symbiotes have, like fire and sound. But more so than that, is that her symbiote, can sometimes push her rage and aggression to unstable levels.
Boomstick: Oh yeah. Spider-Gwen is already a serious badass, but when she takes on her Gwenom persona, she cuts loose!
Wiz: As Gwenom, Gwen's powers are heightened further, at the cost of her sanity and sense of justice, causing her to go on a bloodthirsty rampage.
Boomstick: Man, Gwen really is a spider of her own. Making of her her own actions, though with some questionable deeds along to way as Gwenom, Gwen has proven herself a Spider all her own.
Fight[]
The streets of Gotham are seen, as the camera pans up a building to reveal Batgirl standing on a roof looking down at the city. Just then Spider-Gwen swung by. Pulling out a grappling gun, Batgirl fired and swung after her. Firing again she pulled her out of the air and the two landed on the ground, tumbling. The two got back up, with Batgirl back on her feet first.
Batgirl: Alright, Spider-Woman, you're coming with me. I don't know why you would hide from your crime here of all places, but I'm taking you in for the murder of Peter Parker.
Spider-Gwen: Oh great. It's the female bat. I don't have time for this, I'm here to...
Batgirl: I don't have any interest in your excuses! Now are you coming in quietly, or do I have to take you down?
Spider-Gwen: Sorry, but I'm can't go to jail. Now out of my way, or I'll be forced to stop you.
Batgirl: Stop ME?! I think you have things backwards. Your the one who needs to be stopped, menace.
Spider-Gwen: …*sigh* Let's get this over with. I really have to...
Just then she saw Batgirl charging at her. Barbara threw a punch, which Gwen dodged. She fired some webs at Barbara, who knocked them away with a batarang. Barbara jumped into the air and grabbed Gwen, before judo throwing her into a wall. She threw a series of Batarangs, which Gwen knocked out of the air with her webs. Gwen got up, and ran at Barbara, who did the same. Both reeled their fists back, and began to throw a punch, before Gwen pulled back and ducked, and extended a leg, tripping Barbara in the process, and elbowing her in the gut as he fell, before kicking her away. Firing a web line Gwen pulled Babs back to her, and punched her in the back, sending her air born, before kicking her into a wall as she came down.
Barbara: Ok, your good....but I'm better.
Barbara then pulled out a smoke bomb, and threw it to the ground as Gwen lunged at her. Smoke filled the area, as Barbara pulled out her grapple line, and pulled herself up to a rooftop. Gwen smacked into a wall, and stumbled back a bit. Barbara charged in with a furry of punches and kicks, before doing a few slashes with a Batarang. She then uppercut Gwen right in the jaw and kicked her through the wall into a parking complex. Barbara jumped through the hole in the wall, and looked around for Gwen. Suddenly she heard a sound and turned, a Batarang in her hand, just to find it was a rat. Barbara let out a sigh, when a webline attached to her back, and suddenly she was pulled behind her to Gwen. Gwen threw Barbara through the multiple ceilings of the complex, and with a jump followed her.
On to of the complex, Gwen picked up a car, and swung it like a baseball bat and sent Barbara flying half way across the city. Gwen swung after her, as Barbara crashed into a massive ship, and fell into the water. She was quick to recover, and jumped out of the water, and was surprised to see Gwen in front of her. Barbara scowled at her adversary.
Gwen: Had enough?
Barbara: Not even close! I'm not losing to a lowlife like you.
Gwen: Look, were both...
Barbara: Stuff it, Spider! I am taking you in.....alive or dead.
Barbara jumped out of the water, and punched Gwen strait in the face. She delivered a flurry of punches, and grabbed her arm, and judo threw her at a large ship. Gwen slammed into it, causing the a hole to form in the ship, causing it to start to sink. Gwen punched a hole in the boat, and escaped just before it sunk below the surface. Gwen then fired two web lines, and slingshot herself at Barbara, who turned around, and grabbed her by the leg, and threw her into a mountain.
Barbara: Ok, I'll admit it. You resilient. But I won't lose to a criminal like you!
Barbara, pulled out some shock Batarangs, and threw them, as the unleased an electric current between them zapping Gwen in the process. Gwen withered and screamed in pain, as Batgirl walked off. Suddenly an ear piercing scream could be heard. Barbara looked back, and saw an gooey black explosion. She walked back, and her neck was grabbed by Gwen, who was now Gwenom. The pieces of the symbiote returned to their host, as she began to squeeze down on Babs' windpipe.
Barbara gasped for air, but to no avail, as her face turned blue. She reached into her utility belt and pulled out a Shock Batarang. She stabbed it into Gwen's gut, who let out a painful cry. She let go of Babs, adn pulled out the Batarang before snapping it in two with her fingers. Barbara recovered and pulled out her Batline, and pulled herself to a nearby building, and began to run into the city, jumping from rooftop to rooftop. Gwen followed in pursuit.
Gwen: Just try to run. I'll find you anywhere!
Barbara, dove into a window of an abandoned factory, and hid in the shadows. Gwen entered the building, and looked around. Suddenly she vanished. A confused Barbara walked out of the shadows, wondering where Gwen had gone, when Gwen appeared form the cealing, and dropped down on her, punching her.Barbara was down to her last 5 Batarangs, Sonic Batarangs to be precise. She threw one behind Gwen, and a high pitched noise began to spread across the room. Gwen then let out a shriek of pain as the symbiote was disrupted by the noise.
Barbara: Ha! Looks, like I found your weakness!
Barbara emerged from the shadows, and threw the Batarangs around the walls. The sound amplified by each other, Gwen's symbiote was becoming more and more unstable. Barbara started walking to her, picking up a nearby shard of glass.
Barbara: Sorry, Spider. Nothing personal.
Gwen: Grrrr....grrr....RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Barbara jumped back, as spikes emerged from the symbiote and extended out, and broke the Batarangs to pieces, to Barabara's shock batarangs. Gwen started to recover from the soundwaves. Babs ran at Gwen, to try and finish her while she was dazed. But Gwen grabbed her by the wrist and snapped it, breaking her hand. Gwen then pulled her close and broke her other arm, before punching her in the back of the head. An X-Ray is seen showing the chip in her head break, causing her legs to become parylized again. She was thrown into a pile of boxes, and Gwen jumped forward, her foot landing on Barbara's chest.
Barbara's eyes grew wide in fear. She knew it was the end. Her legs were paralyzed, she was out of gadgets, and the powerful heroine , pulled back her clawed hand, and jammed it into Barbara's chest. Ripping out Barbara's heart, she slashed it to ribbons, killing the bat. Blood poured from Barbara's body, as Gwen's symbiote took on the appearance of her old costume again.
Gwen: Sorry it had to end like this.
Gwen then swung off out of the window, just as Vulture flew by.
Results[]
Boomstick: That was heartless.....do it again!
Wiz: Batgirl sure could hold her own in a fight against Gwen, but winning was another story. Sure Barbara was a more skilled fighter thanks to her training with Batman, but just because you were trained by Batman, does not mean you are as skilled as Batman.
Boomstick: Heck Bruce himself even said that, while Barbara was skilled, they weren't equals, not even close!
Wiz: Sure Gwen is not a equal to Peter either, due to her lacking any true training, but you guys have to remember, skill does not always beat raw power. Heck, remember the time Barbara was shot by Joker. That proved Barbara can't react to bullets, while Gwen has even caught bullets on a regular basis.
Boomstick: Their power is clear cut too. Even if we scaled Barbara's strength to Bruce, who can lift 1000 pounds, which puts him in peak human condition, Gwen punched The Rhino trough a wall!
Wiz: Assuming Rhino is the same weight as the animal, this puts him as 5000 pounds. 5 times greater than anyone in the Bat Family.
Boomstick: Sure Barbara is a smart thinker and could deduce the weaknesses to sound and fire that Gwen's symbiote has, but Gwen is just as smart if not smarter. She could easily tell something is up with Barbara's legs just by watching her move around. So it is fair to assume that both could deduce the other's weakness, but with Gwen's speed she was more capable of taking advantage of it.
Wiz: While Barbara had better skill and experience, Gwen had the speed, strength, durability, intellect, and instinct needed to finish Batgirl once and for all.
Boomstick: Barbara tried to stand tall, but Gwen just had a leg up on the competition.
Wiz: The winner is Spider-Gwen!
