Description[]
Baoh Vs Venom! Who's got the deadlier symbiote?
Introduction[]
Wiz: Baoh, the ultimate weapon!
Boomstick: Venom, the coolest Spider-Man enemy ever!
Wiz: Being stripped of your autonomy by an invasive species is one of the most horrifying scenarios a person can think of. And that's exactly what these two characters have in common, except in their cases, the invaders have made them vicious fighters never to be crossed.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!
Baoh[]
Wiz: Science is a magnificent concept. It has allowed for brilliant minds to pave the way for a better future, and it continues to do so to this day. However, for every scientist who creates the lightbulb, there's another who creates nuclear weapons. So one must be careful which scientist you give power to.
Boomstick: Because if you give power to the wrong scientists, you end up with the Dress Organization. And if you think an organization with a stupid name like that isn't threatening, you're sorely mistaken, but I also can't blame you.
Wiz: The Dress Organization is a secret society that operates behind the scenes, supplying weapons and other materials to the Japanese and American governments. They also conduct unethical experiments on humans and animals alike, only caring about their endgame of global conquest. One such unfortunate victim of their madness is a teenager named Ikuro Hashizawa.
Boomstick: See, Ikuro was only 7 years old when his parents got into a car crash that nearly killed them. Before he drowned to death in a frozen pond, he and his parents were rescued by Dr. Kasuminome. But as luck would have it, the "good" doctor was actually an affiliate of Dress, and he killed Ikuro's parents so he could inject something called the Baoh parasite into his body.
Wiz: After being kept incubating in a tank, Ikuro is soon freed by a psychic and finds that his transformation has completed. As Baoh, Ikuro becomes an unstoppable, remorseless killing machine, using various abilities called Phenomenons. Baoh's main method of attack is the Armed Phenomenon, which grants the host superhuman strength and a regenerative healing factor. The parasite can also heal other people.
Boomstick: Baoh's physical form is nigh-impenetrable and comes with a Tactile Sensor, which essentially acts as a radar. At his disposal, Baoh uses its Reskin Harden Saber Phenomenon, which come in the form of arm blades that can cut through anything and can even be thrown off and launched at enemies, the Melted In Palm Phenomenon, where Baoh grabs an enemy and melts them with corrosive acid secret from its hands, the Shooting-Bees Stinger Phenomenon, firing incendiary quills from its long, beautiful flowing hair, and of course the Break Dark Thunder Phenomenon, where Baoh charges up its body and generates 60,000 volts of electricity, which it's then free to channel however it likes. Every inch of its body is literally a weapon!
Wiz: On top of that, Baoh's physical strength is plenty to get by on its own. Baoh can jump several feet into the air, cling to hard surfaces, throw regular people through stone walls, and toss projectiles that kill on impact. The parasite's hide is so durable that it's entirely bulletproof, shockproof, and fireproof. One time Baoh even got hit by a speeding armored vehicle, which crumbled upon impact while Baoh didn't feel a thing. Baoh also excels in stealth, as it was able to hide from Dress for nearly 3 days, even with the organization's best detection equipment. Baoh has minor magnetism control as well, as it was able to use electricity to stop bombs cold in their tracks and subsequently deconstruct them.
Boomstick: Did we mention Baoh is incredibly fast too? Baoh dodged a shotgun blast at close range, tracked a sniper rifle bullet, thought of a way to avoid it, and then ultimately blocked it with a motorcycle all in the span of a few seconds, can deflect bullets with no effort, and even rescued Sumire before she could get vaporized by lasers. And by the way, all of these happened while Ikuro was still getting used to his powers. He really puts the "don't" in "don't blink"!
Wiz: Another thing the Baoh parasite is capable of is suspended animation. Say, if Ikuro or Baoh gets submerged in water, the parasite will cease aging, and allow the host and parasite to live for hundreds of years in this state. Ikuro doesn't even need to transform into Baoh for this to kick in, as the parasite will instinctively preserve the both of them when in danger.
Boomstick: So are we sure that this Baoh parasite is really a bad thing? It sounds like the coolest thing ever! I want one!
Wiz: No, you most definitely do not want one. Baoh may have several upsides but it's still a parasite at the end of the day, and it bonds to the host's mind. It's stated that if Ikuro were to be fully overtaken by the parasite, he would lose all competence and become a rampaging monster, infecting every living organism he encounters. And according the the creators of the parasite, it lays eggs after a couple of months, after which the larvae will break out and tear the host's body apart from the inside. Ikuro was lucky to evade this fate as he'd already bonded with Baoh and can control it as he pleases.
Boomstick: Beginner's luck am I right? Though there are some weaknesses. While Baoh is virtually invulnerable, destroying Ikuro's brain will not only kill him, but the parasite as well. Its Tactile Sensor is also crucial to its efficiency, as disabling it will render Baoh essentially blind.
Wiz: And what little humanity Ikuro retains in his transformed state can become his undoing, as he's very protective of Sumire after she freed him from Dress's occupancy. As such, he's gotten himself into danger several times just to keep her safe.
Boomstick: Still though, even if Baoh isn't totally unstoppable, it's unlikely anyone will live long enough to exploit its weaknesses. And as long as Ikuro's brilliant mind is taking the wheel, humanity has nothing to worry about right now.
Venom[]
Wiz: Eddie Brock was a promising journalist working for the Daily Bugle. His career had taken off after he'd been hot on the trail after a murderer called the Sin Eater.
Boomstick: But then everything came crashing down when local hero Spider-Man - you may have heard of him - caught the Sin Eater and exposed his identity, revealing that Eddie's reports were specious and causing him to lose his job. Don't you just hate it when that happens?
Wiz: Eddie grew resentful of Spider-Man following this incident, and begged everyday for his downfall, even setting off to kill the Webslinger himself. Before he did so, however, Eddie stepped into a church to pray for forgiveness.
Boomstick: What Eddie didn't know is that the symbiotic suit that Spider-Man discarded was laying around in that same church. The symbiote sensed Eddie's mutual hatred for Spidey and subsequently bonded to him, aiding his quest for revenge.
Wiz: At that point, Eddie donned a new moniker: Venom. The Venom symbiote is actually an alien parasite from the planet Klyntar. It has its own consciousness and memories, and as such, Venom refers to itself as "we" instead of "I". That said, the symbiote and Eddie's minds function like one all the same.
Boomstick: The personality of the symbiote combines with the host, so the creature that becomes Venom acts as such. Conveniently enough, since the symbiote and Eddie both want to kill Spider-Man, the two don't seem to clash all that often.
Wiz: Due to previously bonding with Spider-Man, Venom has similar powers to him. He can create and shoot webs, climb walls, and has enhanced physical capabilities. On his own, Venom can shapeshifting, contort his body in various ways, and even camouflage himself.
Boomstick: Venom has consistently outclassed Spider-Man in terms of strength and speed. Beyond that, he's also stopped a big rig, punched Juggernaut through an entire building's length, and can easily smash solid materials like rocks, wood, and metal.
Wiz: Venom is capable of lifting a 40 ton water tower carrying 10,000 gallons of water and dumping it all out, lifted a bulldozer and then threw it, broke free from Iceman's ice using its raw muscle, and even while weakened, was able to support a collapsing Ferris Wheel.
Boomstick: And while Spider-Man did help him with that, Venom clarifies that if he was at full strength, he could've supported it all by himself.
Wiz: In terms of speed, Venom not only can react to and easily dodge Spider-Man's attacks, but he can catch a bullet from behind right as it was fired and blocked several bullets while near death.
Boomstick: Basically don't try shooting him.
Wiz: And this is thanks to the fact that the symbiote has its own version of a Spider Sense. Best part about it is that Eddie still has enhanced reflexes without transforming.
Boomstick: He's survived countless explosions, including anti-tank artillery, a fuel tank blast, and shrugged off falling onto a car hard enough to create a shockwave. Venom also has a healing factor, which has instantly recovered from a multitude of stab wounds, including Wolverine stabbing him in the head!
Wiz: Venom's survivability is insane, but not absolute. The most notable weaknesses the symbiote has are intense heat and sound. He's also prone to losing control of the symbiote, and can become a reckless monster with no one to keep him check.
Boomstick: Sounds like being Venom is low-risk, high-reward then! Venom's one of the most feared beings in the Marvel universe for a good reason, so unless you wanna be his next meal, steer clear of him as much as possible!
Interlude[]
Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilites. Let's settle this debate once and for all!
Boomstick: IT'S TIME FOR A DEATH BATTLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!
Battle[]
In a remote laboratory in a remote location, the hallways are lined with the bloody carcasses of scientists. The result of the violence is shown to be Venom, who is skulking the location, trying to escape. He is then confronted by armed guards.
Guard: Stop where you are, monster!
Venom: Hehehehe, I think I'll pass on that offer.
The guards open fire on him, but Venom quickly snatches them and devours them whole. As he makes his exit, he sees a lone boy. The boy turns out to be Ikuro Hashizawa, who turns around and sees Venom.
Ikuro: What the hell are you?!
Venom: *peels back his face to show Eddie* We.....are VENOM!
Ikuro: Whatever you are, you look dangerous. I won't let you out into this world!
Ikuro jumps into the air, transforming into Baoh. He lets out a mighty roar, and then draws his arm blades.
FIGHT!
Baoh charges at Venom and swipes at him with his arm blade. It creates a gaping wound on Venom's midsection, but it quickly heals.
Venom: Hahaha, not bad.
Baoh tries to swipe at Venom again, but Venom blocks the attack and punches him. Baoh shrugs it off and resumes his assault. Soon, Baoh and Venom are trading blows with each other at a deadlock. Baoh briefly overtakes Venom, then throws him against the wall. Venom shoots webs at Baoh and ensnares him. Before Venom can follow up with an attack, Baoh uses his Break Dark Thunder to destroy the webbing.
Baoh: RAAAAAAAARGH!
Venom leaps at Baoh, who retaliates by zapping him in midair. Venom cries out in visible discomfort and then drops to the floor. Baoh then swipes at Venom with his claws several times. Venom regenerates his wounds, then ensnares Baoh in some more webbing. Venom swings Baoh around the lab, then finishes off by slamming him into a wall. Baoh is unphased, and as Venom charges at him, Baoh uses his Shooting Bees Stinger Phenomenon to launch fiery quills at Venom. The quills hit Venom and burn him, stopping Venom in his tracks. Baoh launches himself at Venom and tries using his Melted In Palm Phenomenon to vaporize him. However, Venom catches his hand, and pummels Baoh while in his grasp. Venom proceeds to slam Baoh into the floor a few times, then traps him in more web. Venom then turns into a huge snakelike creature and swallows Baoh.
Venom: Bahahahaha! Was that it?!
Suddenly, Venom feels uneasy, and Baoh bursts through Venom's serpentine figure. Venom reverts to his regular form, and just as Baoh tosses one of his arm blades at Venom, Venom catches it with his hand and throws it back. Baoh deflects it and tackles Venom. They tussle for a while until Venom throws Baoh through a wall, taking the fight outside. Baoh lands on his feet, ready to defend against Venom's incoming attack. Baoh tries firing more quills at him, but Venom dodges them and goes for a punch. Baoh blocks it and throws Venom over his shoulder. Baoh unleashes a ferocious combination of swipes and slashes, finishing with Break Dark Thunder. Venom seemingly dissolves and the symbiote scuttles away. Baoh isn't fooled and tries searching for him. While he searches the area, his Tactile Sensor immediately alerts him of a sign of life, and Baoh attacks a bush, revealed to be Venom in disguise. Baoh stabs Venom, but Venom traps Baoh in webbing by touching him, then smashes him against the ground. Baoh gets back to his feet.
Venom: You found out where we were. How clever of you. But all you did was walk right into your death!
Venom jumps into the air, shoots webs at Baoh, then pulls him into the air. Venom does a somersault and slams Baoh into the ground, landing onto him knees first. Venom then proceeds to pummel Baoh while he's on top of him, but Baoh uses Break Dark Thunder to get free. Baoh then slices one of Venom's arms off, but he regrows one. Venom uproots a nearby tree and hits Baoh with it. He goes for another swing, but Baoh quickly slices it apart with his arm blades. Venom punches Baoh around some. He then goes for a double hammerfist, but Baoh catches his arms and uses his Melted In Palm Phenomenon to melt off Venom's hands. Baoh zaps Venom, then grabs him and rams them both into a transformer, causing a massive explosion that obliterates the laboratory. Amidst the destruction and flames, Venom is ablaze and visibly injured, while Baoh is standing, his armor beginning to crack, showing Ikuro is exuding tons of energy. Baoh then locates Venom and begins approaching him with murderous intent.
Venom: Let's try something, shall we?
Venom shoots a web onto Baoh's Tactile Sensor, disabling it. Baoh begins panicking, and amidst his panic, reverts to Ikuro.
Ikuro: Goddammit! I'm not gonna be able to do this without my sensor!
Venom: BAHAHAHAHA! Guess you're useless without your little tracking device! Too bad for you! TIME FOR A GRAND FINALE!
Venom pulls Ikuro close with webs, grabs him tightly, and proceeds to devour his head instantly. Venom then tosses Ikuro's headless corpse into a fire. Venom then pulls his face back as Eddie takes over.
Eddie: That takes care of one problem. Now the next one is getting the fuck out of here.
K.O.!
Results[]
Boomstick: You know that's such a simple solution that no one EVER goes for and I have no idea why.
Wiz: There was a LOT going on here. Since he did have a speed advantage and a varied arsenal to draw from, Baoh was the perfect opponent for Venom. Baoh was able to outpace a laser bullet while Venom couldn't, and they've both shown equal reaction times to regular gunshots. And to top everything off, they both were nigh invulnerable to physical attacks.
Boomstick: Both Baoh and Venom have regenerated losing limbs in the past, but Venom's healing factor was definitely more impressive than Baoh's, if not only because it was faster. But beyond that, brute strength isn't enough to put Venom down for good.
Wiz: Baoh's Break Dark Thunder and Shooting Bees Stinger Phenomena were excellent tools for exploiting Venom's weaknesses to electricity and fire. However, not only has Venom survived fiery explosions before, just direct exposure to those elements has never been a one-shot kill for him, and it's unreasonable to think that Baoh's electricity and heat were enough to get the job done. So while Baoh could definitely hurt Venom, he couldn't exactly kill him.
Boomstick: Hell, the most notable exploitation of Venom's weakness to electricity came from Thor, whose lightning can produce billions of gigajoules of energy. That's a far cry from Baoh's measly 60,000 volts. And let's not even get started on physical strength here.
Wiz: Venom's Ferris Wheel feat absolutely dwarfs anything Baoh has been shown to do, since there aren't that many strength feats for him to go off of. Baoh could theoretically just whittle Venom down with his claws and arm blades, but he'd run the risk of getting caught in webs countless times, requiring more and more energy from Ikuro.
Boomstick: Meanwhile Venom's endurance has allowed him to tangle with the likes of Dr. Doom and Juggernaut. Most of Baoh's enemies were either regular mercs or enemies who don't have as much of an impressive resume.
Wiz: Also, the Venom symbiote is particularly intelligent in its own right, compared to the Baoh parasite's feral nature. While Ikuro himself has been able to think quickly upon merging with the parasite, the symbiote and Eddie Brock are effectively a dynamic duo, allowing them to think more creatively.
Boomstick: And even though Baoh's Tactile Sensor works way better than Venom's faux Spider Sense, Baoh is unable to function without it, as damaging or obstructing it deprives him of all of the important physical senses. Once Venom figured that out, he had the fight in the bag.
Wiz: Baoh was a nightmarish foe, and he was far from hopeless, but Venom's superior strength, durability, and intellect ended this fight.
Boomstick: Ikuro just had to Baoh out of here!
Wiz: The winner is Venom
