Fire Emblem VS RWBY! When these two ignited the tinder beneath their victims' feet, they forever lived in infamy. But one of their flames will be extinguished this day.

Arvis vs. Cinder Fall is the 62nd episode of DEATH BATTLE! by Shadow7615 in collaboration with SoMaShadow, featuring Arvis from the Fire Emblem series and Cinder Fall from the RWBY series in a battle between antagonistic pyromancers.

Interlude[]

Wiz: Lies. Deception. The perfect tools that control the flow of information, and what others see. All it takes is someone to plant the seeds and sow chaos from within.

Boomstick: And when it comes to these two, they have a fiery method to their madness.

Wiz: Arvis, the Emperor of Grannvale.

Boomstick: And Cinder Fall, the Fall Maiden. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.

Arvis[]

Wiz: Long ago, the Earth Dragon Loptous ruled the continent of Judgral through a blood pact between himself and a bishop who became Emperor and waged war with humanity on Loptous's behalf. However, the Earth Dragon was slain when the Dragon Tribe forged blood pacts with twelve humans, bringing an end to Loptous's seventeen generation reign. These heroes would become known as the Twelve Crusaders.

Boomstick: Thanks to the blood pacts, all of them gained Holy Blood, putting them on a level of power far beyond normal humans, so future generations thought of them as gods. So you better imagine all their smashing would result in some pretty powerful descendants. And the world knew peace for a damn good while, you'd have never guessed an Earth Dragon ruled the whole place back in the day.

Wiz: The Twelve Crusaders ruled the continent evenly among themselves, ensuring their descendants would continue their legacy. Fjalar, one of the Twelve Crusaders, founded the dukedom of Velthomer and passed down her Holy Blood to her descendants. Little did she know her bloodline would become one of the most documented in history, all of it centred around one man, Arvis.

Boomstick: Arvis was a pretty chill kid at first until he witnessed his dad hang himself... and he was only seven years old. Just like that, with no other legit heirs, Arvis was entrusted with ruling Velthomer as its new Duke. Understandably shaken up about the shit he witnessed, Arvis worked hard to rise in both power and position, making sure that he wouldn't be the last member of Fjalar's bloodline.

Popup: Unlike most instances where the Fire Emblem is either a weapon or an object, the Fire Emblem in Jugdral is the family crest of Velthomer, placing Arvis among the few villains in the franchise to bear the Fire Emblem as their own.

Wiz: Arvis possessed a "gift of Kings", essentially a combination of natural talent and toughness, enabling him to become Duke of Velthomer at a young age, the position also bestowed Arvis his bloodline's Holy Weapon, Valflame. A tome of fire magic imbued with the power of Salamander, the Fire Dragon who bonded with Fjalar all those years ago. And due to it being a bloodline based weapon, unless you are a dominant bloodline descendant of Fjalar, you cannot wield Valflame.

Boomstick: The tome can be cast a bunch of ways. Normally, its a red stream of light which heats up until it sets whatever it spotlighted on fire. It can do the same spotlight stuff and drop meteors on people. And for a toasty surprise, it can form itself right on an opponent, as if a bomb of fire showed up and exploded! But Valflame isn't just some book with fire spells, it enhances its wielder thanks to their shared Holy Blood. Arvis gets buffs to his magic, defence, and magical resistance.

Wiz: But Arvis was smart and knew not to rely on just one weapon, so he has more, including the Silver Blade, a Greatsword composed of Silver. To heal from wounds, Arvis wears the Recover Ring, imbued with the same healing power as Recover Staffs. In gameplay, it heals Arvis at the start of every turn, so it would passively heal Arvis every so often in real-time. But Arvis doesn't stop there. He also has a set of skills which make him a difficult opponent on the battlefield.

Boomstick: Up first is Great Shield or Pavise for you newbies. This skill can rob an opponent of their attack doing any damage, or at the very least, it can significantly nullify damage Arvis would take. But if he wants to rob his opponents of even more stuff, then Arvis can use Nihil, a skill that prevents an opponent's skills from activating while they're in the presence of this magnificent man, I mean look at that hair!

Popup: Arvis also uses Charm, a skill which increases the accuracy and evasion of allies in combat. However, unlike his other skills, Charm cannot be activated if Arvis is fighting alone. He also learned the Adept skill, but lost the ability to use it when he promoted from Sage to Emperor.

Wiz: Those with Holy Blood were undoubtedly going to play some of the biggest roles in history, and Arvis was no different. Judgral had become plagued by corruption and oppression, and Arvis sought to end it all, and for a time, he did! He joined forces with a mysterious figure named Manfroy and worked with him to ensure he would become the architect that would save Judgral.

Boomstick: Arvis certainly played his game of chess very carefully, making sure he removed any of his opponents who could rival him for ascension to the Imperial Throne. Not by killing them directly, but by having them fight each other and amass their territory as his own. But Arvis is undoubtedly most well known for the murder that he did commit. I know roasting people is a thing, but I think this is just overkill.

Wiz: Sigurd, another descendant of the Twelve Crusaders was framed for the murder of the Emperor's son, and Arvis executed him in an act of immolation that lives in infamy, the Battle of Belhalla. With Sigurd removed, Arvis inched ever closer to becoming the chosen heir, but it became a guarantee when Arvis fell in love with the Emperor's granddaughter, Deirdre.

Boomstick: And with his babe in hand, Arvis became Emperor, and reached levels of power that rivalled the Dragons themselves. Since Valflame was created alongside eleven other Holy Weapons, its generally safe to say they have similar, if not identical power to one another. Which includes the Book of Naga, which as you probably guessed, comes from the Divine Dragon, Naga.

Popup: Naga has a history of being exceptionally powerful, even when her power is imbued to others. Naga's power was used to defeat Grima, who by simply flying around, can generate energies worth 340.4 Gigatons of TNT.

Wiz: Naga is often attributed as being one of the most powerful Divine Dragons in history. So much so, she's defeated two other Divine Dragons, Mila and Duma, in a nine-day conflict. Mila and Duma, collectively, are powerful enough to create an entire continent. Even when her power is bestowed onto someone else, such as with the Book of Naga, it can defeat other dragons, like Grima and Loptous.

Boomstick: Now I know you might be thinking "Valflame doesn't contain Naga's power, it can't be that strong", and you'd be right, Valflame's power comes from Salamander, but Salamander is from the same Dragon Tribe. Sure, there aren't any feats to suggest Salamander is as strong as Naga, but both Valflame and the Book of Naga were created at the same time, and both were part of the overall twelve which defeated Loptous in the first place.

Wiz: Even if Salamander was one-twelfth of Naga's power, that would still yield powerful results, certainly enough to grant Arvis the power increase. Arvis, like most Fire Emblem characters, can dodge Bolting, a powerful Thunder magic tome which is cast from the clouds, and to dodge it, you'd need to move at speeds around Mach 223.

Boomstick: Arvis is also pretty strong, he can go toe-to-toe with other Holy Weapon wielders, such as when he fought Sigurd's son, Seliph, who wielded Tyrfing, another pretty powerful Holy Weapon. But while Arvis fought his hardest, he wasn't able to handle the entire Liberation Army, with most of them carrying the eleven other Holy Weapons.

Popup: After killing Sigurd, Arvis took Tyrfing and kept it for 17 years, he knew that Tyrfing was specifically capable of resisting magical attacks, including Valflame, which is why Arvis carried a Silver Blade by the time Tyrfing would find its way to Seliph.

Wiz: Arvis's defeat was ultimately due to the wicked manipulations of Manfroy. In truth, Loptous's bloodline did not end all those years ago, and Manfroy was aware of this, Arvis was descended from both Fjalar and Loptous' bloodlines. And Manfroy capitalized on that, deliberately ensuring Arvis would marry his maternal half-sister Deirdre, who also carried Loptous' blood. They had twin offspring, and one of them was exactly the person Manfroy was looking for.

Boomstick: Their son, Julius, was born with dominant Loptous blood, the perfect vessel for Loptous's revival, and once the dragon dwelled within Julius, Arvis's ideal world came crashing down. Julius killed Deirdre, replaced Arvis as Emperor, and even conducted child hunts to sacrifice those kids to Loptous, which is all kinds of messed up.

Wiz: Remorseful for his actions, Arvis used what power he still had and saved as many innocent children's lives as possible and even ordered one of his followers to deliver Tyrfing to Seliph, the only person who could wield it. Arvis would achieve the rest of his goals posthumously, as Seliph and the Liberation Army defeated Julius and Loptous, bringing an end to the dragon's reign, and bloodline, once and for all.

Boomstick: Despite it all, Arvis was an absolute powerhouse, he never gave up on his ideals and refused to let true evil reign terror across the continent. One of the coolest good bad guys I've ever seen, and god dammit, did I mention the hair!?

Arvis: Under my rule, humanity shall be free from the pain of prejudice, tyranny and oppression! What a pity it is, that Sigurd must die, but alas, all things require sacrifice.

Cinder Fall[]

Boomstick: Throughout the history of Remnant, there have always been myths and legends of magic. Most grew up on fairy tales such as these, but unbeknownst to the populace, magic did exist. And not just your average card trick, or pulling a rabbit out of a hat, but true, real magic.

Wiz: The four Seasonal Maidens have long since guarded this unimaginable power to prevent it from falling into the clutches of evil. With one maiden to each symbolize a season of the year, they would pass on their power to the last female person they thought of, upon death. However, this power was sought after by an individual of fearsome might, the witch, Salem.

Boomstick: This albino witch lady was dead-set on ruling Remnant with an iron fist, but even with all her might, she wouldn’t be able to do it by herself. She needed a group of people to carry out her bidding, and she needed the power of the maidens. But she wasn’t able to just waltz around and stumble across the maidens, she needed a loyal pawn, someone she could control and use to act out her will across the nation.

Wiz: These ambitions would all come to a head when Salem found the young Cinder. The witch saw her vulnerability and lust for power and recognition and put her plan into action. She would take Cinder under her wing and mould her into the perfect follower, one she could trust to hold power and not betray her, one who was charismatic enough to attract followers and could carry out her plans in her stead. And with her ambitions to acquire the power of the Fall Maiden, and likely a healthy amount of egomania, Cinder would rename herself, adopting the moniker of Cinder Fall.

Popup: Arthur Watts has confirmed that Cinder renamed herself, replacing her former surname with “Fall” in light of her ambitions for the power of the Fall Maiden, which is reinforced by her narcissistic egomania and lust for power.

Boomstick: Sending Cinder off on her own, Salem’s grand plans would be put into motion. Cinder enlisted the help of Emerald Sustrai, Mercury Black and Roman Torchwick, all proved themselves essential in her schemes. Now with control over a devoted illusionist, the sassy son of an assassin, and the charming leader of a crime ring, Cinder set her sights on the rebel Faunus group, the White Fang, and their leader, Adam Taurus.

Wiz: But Adam rebuffed her offer, and not willing to let him escape her clutches, Cinder forwarded her plans to steal the power of the current Fall Maiden, Amber. However, Amber was not one to be taken lightly, despite her inexperience, and so Cinder would need to hone her skills and her Semblance.

Boomstick: Acting as a personal superpower for the huntsmen and huntresses of the world, each person’s Semblance is different. There are many different abilities, but none are quite like Cinder’s Semblance. Known as Scorching Caress, Cinder can superheat objects and manipulate their shape at will, able to turn stuff like sand and dust into glass and hurl it at her opponent. She can also reform these objects if they’re broken, which would be super handy in the glassmaking business!

Wiz: Cinder’s Semblance is reliant on her amount of Aura, which acts as an invisible shield around her body that protects her from harm. It heals minor wounds and heightens her senses, allowing Cinder to pick up on things normal people cannot. However, her Aura is finite, and can only take so much damage before it's broken, and if it breaks, she won’t be able to access her Semblance.

Popup: Cinder’s Semblance has been capable of instantly burning up all kinds of different materials upon contact, ranging from stone to dirt, to human people, like when she turned Pyrrha Nikos to ash within seconds. Scorching Caress also allows Cinder to control and reform her glass projectiles, even if they’re shattered, with no decrease in velocity or direction.

Boomstick: But even so, Cinder has shown exemplary skill with her Semblance and weapon, Midnight. Whilst originally metal, this weapon was recreated using obsidian, a volcanic glass, which allows her to directly control it on a whim. Turning into dual short swords, or fusing to form a bow, it’s quite the versatile weapon, and she showcased just how deadly she could be in her duel with Amber, the Fall Maiden.

Wiz: Cinder was able to subdue the Maiden with help from Emerald and Mercury, and by using a special glove, was capable of siphoning off most of Amber’s power while she was alive, though this process was interrupted by the huntsman Qrow Branwen. Even without the full power of the Fall Maiden, Cinder had taken about half of the power and was determined to retrieve the rest of the power which she deemed rightfully hers.

Boomstick: Having control over the Maiden powers grants her a wide variety of abilities to draw from, and though she has access to the basic elemental attacks like ice, lightning, and earth, she vastly prefers to fight using fire, though she has shown the capability to use the other elements in battle before. Cinder also carries around some Fire Dust, which she can throw for a large-scale explosion or create a smokescreen if need be.

Wiz: With her newly attained Maiden powers, Cinder’s machinations would cause unrest within Vale, discreetly sowing the seeds of chaos, and this was furthered with her infiltration of Beacon Academy. Hacking into the school’s security systems, and with an army of monsters and soldiers at her command, she laid siege to the long-standing pillar of hope that the school had grown into. Inciting war between the nations, Cinder forced the hand of Beacon’s headmaster to transfer the remaining remnants of the Fall Maiden's power into their appointed champion student. But Cinder had planned for this too, and killed the half-dead Amber once and for all, taking the full power of the Fall Maiden at last.

Popup: Cinder should also be capable of dodging Amber’s lightning, which moves at speeds of Mach 352, but no other showings of speed in the series come close to this level, so it is likely an outlier.

Boomstick: But she didn’t stop there! Cinder fought Headmaster Ozpin in an epic display of power, and killed him, leaving the young Pyrrha Nikos as the only obstacle still standing in her way. Unfortunately for her, things were about to get heated, real fast. Cinder dominated Pyrrha in their fight, and with a fatal arrow from Midnight, shot her right through the heart. You can bet that she’s to blame, darling, she gives love a bad name.

Wiz: Despite any potential reference to Bon Jovi, Cinder did indeed slay the pure-hearted girl, burning her down to cinders, ironically. But her victory was short-lived, as she was soon gravely injured by Ruby and her silver eyes, which cost her both an eye, and an arm, additionally with the temporary loss of her voice. Though she would replace the missing arm with one made from demonic Grimm, she would merely cover the eye which she lost.

Boomstick: But, hey, an awesome demon arm isn’t too bad! It can extend out to reach long distances, steal away magic power, and regenerate itself if cut off from Cinder. Not a bad deal, all things considered. And Cinder learned how to create weapons like swords and spears out of her magic, no longer needing her cool obsidian sword-bow.

Wiz: With Cinder’s new powers under control, she would go head-to-head with fellow Maiden, Raven Branwen, to whom she is certainly comparable. Raven has once created a storm worth 516 Kilotons of TNT and can outpace lesser huntresses capable of dodging lightning at speeds of Mach 11, proving just how deadly she can be. During their battle, the Maidens were evenly matched, but Raven’s greater experience granted her the win.

Popup: In an official RWBY manga, Team RWBY fought and defeated a giant Nevermore which blew away part of a mountain top. This feat would come out to 90,000 tons of TNT, or 90 Kilotons of TNT, but Raven’s storm feat eclipses this in sheer power.

Boomstick: Yeah, Cinder doesn’t have the greatest wealth of experience when it comes to these powers. She’s been beaten by Raven, and nearly lost to Ozpin, plus, she almost lost a hand-to-hand fight with RWBY’s resident ice-cream lady, Neopolitan. And while she commands great range and versatility with her magic weapons, she doesn’t have much skill with them compared to others who have finely honed their craft. Additionally, her Grimm arm isn’t covered by her Aura, and needs to regenerate by itself.

Wiz: Despite these flaws, Cinder Fall is a force to be reckoned with. She’s ruthless and brutal, willing to sacrifice anything to achieve her goal, and her skills in manipulation, stealth and subterfuge are no joke. She was the main driving force behind the Fall of Beacon and stole the powers of a Maiden, feats to which no others can hold claim to. She even survived being frozen alive, and her bouts with Team RWBY prove she can hold her own against a group of opponents simultaneously.

Boomstick: She’s cunning, sadistic and arrogant to a fault, and believes that the power she craves is owed to her, but these personality traits stem from a life of jealousy, rage, and desperation. Growing up with nothing, she wanted everything and hated those who had it all in life. And she has a thing for shooting people through the heart, it’s pretty weird...

Wiz: Despite a harsh upbringing, Cinder Fall has made a name for herself, having followed her ambitious ideals through to their end, forever living in infamy, and fear.

Cinder Fall: It's unfortunate you were promised a power that was never truly yours. But take comfort in knowing that I will use it in ways you could never have imagined.

DEATH BATTLE![]

Arvis Cinder Set

Dark red skies paint the barren wasteland in an unmistakable image, that of the Land of Darkness. Its rocky terrain makes it inhospitable to all but the vilest and most dangerous beings the world had to offer, the entire locale oozed with negativity, there was no chance of light ever residing here, even the natural satellite seemed to find a place here, all of it combined to form what was a truly grim sight for those who beheld it. However, within this dark domain resided a structure, erected from the rock and purple crystals which decorated the wasteland, it seemed to be the only place one could dwell safely.

This place was known as Evernight Castle and within its hallowed halls were the emissaries of evil, an inner circle moving to spread chaos and sever the ties of harmony and unity. However, it seemed mostly empty, that is, except for one woman, dressed in nothing but black with trimmings of gold, her face half-covered by an eyepatch. A cape covered her left arm and her ashen black hair fell over her eyepatch.

She stood in a circular room, as she stood alone in its centre. Her eyes closed, she listened carefully, only to hear the sound of a vicious animal rush toward her. Without turning her head, or showing much concern to the situation she had found herself in, the woman outstretched her right arm, and cast fire from it, incinerating the creature altogether, what remained of it fell to the ground and dissolved into nothing.

Thereafter, she was joined by another. A woman with an unsettling complexion and veins on her face approached her subordinate. "Master?" the woman uttered in both acknowledgement and uncertainty. "I have placed my trust in you, and you have in turn become a powerful vessel of the Maiden's power." The two stood beside each other, but not looking at each other in the eyes. "I trust that you would be able to handle a task I bestow upon you."

"I will carry out any mission that you ask of me." The woman in black responded as she kneeled in front of her superior. "Very well. In a land that is far from here, a Dark God has reemerged, and I will not allow it to be a threat to Remnant. The Emperor of that land is the vessel of the Dark God, much like you are the vessel of the Fall Maiden's power. See to it that the Dark God and its Emperor are slain." The superior made her orders known to her subordinate, Cinder Fall.

"Yes, Master." Cinder responded, as her expression turned from one of solemn to an unshakable determination. Moments before Cinder left, her superior, Salem, made one final contribution to her order. "Cinder, do ensure that you do not return empty-handed". "I will find something of adequate value" Cinder responded, as she left the room. Although she was ordered to carry out this order by herself, Cinder's absence would not have repercussions, courtesy of her allies.

An unspecified time later, Cinder had reached her destination and spent days on end travelling toward the capital of the empire, Grannvale. Along the way, she carefully observed the world and learned little nuggets of information which Salem's information confirmed. But she kept her head low and remained none the wiser as it took several days to reach the stronghold of the empire. But at long last, she made it. And upon her arrival, she was greeted by guards.

Through her cunning and demeanour, Cinder was able to convince the guards that she was an embassy from a neighbouring land and that she sought an audience with the Emperor. Guided through the fortress's interior, Cinder didn't let herself become comfortable, she knew that at the first sign of trouble, the security detail would act as needed. Opening the doors to the Emperor's Throne Room, Cinder quickly noticed that the Emperor was not seated at his throne. The guards were similarly surprised by this.

Slightly tempered by the process not going as smoothly as she had hoped, she attacked the guards. Conjuring blades made of obsidian to disarm and wound the guards, as killing them would rid them of the usefulness they could still provide to her. "Where is the Emperor?" Cinder chillingly demanded of her wounded victims. Neither could answer as their pain was considerable. Cinder stormed off in frustration.

A short while later, a man dressed in a red cloak and royal garb appeared and noticed the guards. He rushed to their side and wanted information, the guards claimed it was the embassy, and that she was looking for the Emperor. "Julius... I don't like this one bit" The man spoke as he hurried down the halls. One by one, he ordered the guards to close off every exit, and redirect the embassy to the courtyard. And in a matter of minutes, Cinder found herself in the courtyard, where she noticed all the doors close around her.

"Welcome, embassy" the man spoke as he approached from some of the shaded space. The man sported long red hair and his royal cloak, it was Arvis, and he had learned of Cinder's intentions. "I take it you are the Emperor?" Cinder acquired as Arvis approached the centre of the courtyard and closer to Cinder herself. "Former Emperor, but any diplomatic matters you have can be consoled with me". Knowing he had cornered the woman, Arvis took things further.

"I understand you were not too happy with the guards who escorted you here". Arvis was not looking to negotiate, he was looking for a reason to let Cinder remain in the castle."Unfortunately, they weren't able to help me locate the Emperor, I'm afraid I require his cooperation." Cinder remarked. Which gave Arvis great concern. "What do you want with my son?" Arvis sharply responded. But the reply was quickly retaliated. "That should not worry you. As you said, you are not the Emperor anymore."

Arvis had become slightly more irritated, "I see you are not willing to cooperate. Guards, remove this woman at once". Cinder looked around and noticed the guards moving on both the ground level and the level above. But before any of them could get close, Cinder decided to twist the knife in their conversation. "If your son is a good Emperor, the loss of his father will inspire him to act in our best interests".

Seeing the woman's true intentions front and centre, Arvis almost reached for something, when he noticed a lot of the castle guards, they had moved to prepare an attack on Cinder, however, Arvis raised his arm, ordering the guards to hold their fire. "Do not attack this "embassy" I will deal with her myself." Arvis chillingly proclaimed, as all of the castle guards moved back and out of the way.

"I won't be stopped by some senile fool" Cinder confidently declared as she stood her ground. Arvis was not bothered by her newfound opponent and made his intentions known. "You cannot even imagine the hell I'll visit upon you!" Arvis reached into his cloak and kept his hand close to his Holy Weapon, Valflame.

FIGHT!

(Cue The Last Agni Kai - Avatar: The Last Airbender)

Taking charge, Cinder sprinted toward Arvis, looking to land the first attack. Along the way she held her right arm forward, manifesting a sword made of obsidian, and swinging at Arvis, and was met by the sudden reveal of Arvis's Silver Blade. The two blades were locked, and Arvis simply took the moment to observe the situation. "What is it that you think you're doing?" Arvis dismissively asked the initiator. The comment did not phase Cinder, as she quickly created another sword of obsidian, and employed her dual-wielding swordsmanship to force Arvis into a defensive position.

Pressing the advantage she had created, Cinder rapidly swung her blades, applying a constant barrage of bladed jabs and slashes toward Arvis. But with his singular, and longer weapon, coupled with his impressive speed, Arvis matched each of Cinder's attacks blow for blow. The Emperor was difficult to land an attack on, and that only became increasingly apparent as more and more of Cinder's attacks failed to connect with their target.

After an unsuccessful move on Cinder's part, Arvis evaded to the side and had the perfect opportunity to strike Cinder's swords. And due to their glass composition, shattered once Arvis's Silver Blade crushed the obsidian weapons, disarming Cinder of her weaponry. The Emperor followed up his swing by attempting a stabbing thrust toward the Fall Maiden. But in the nick of time, Cinder jumped backward, almost gliding through the air as she landed on the ground a safe distance between herself and Arvis.

"I'm removing you from the picture. Power does not belong to those who came before, and your time has passed." Cinder coldly responded as she reached her hand and manifested another of her obsidian weapons, this time, she forged a Scimitar, something comparable to the length of Arvis's Silver Blade. Launching herself at Arvis, she swung her weapon, meeting blades with Arvis, the two tighten the handles of their weapons, refusing to yield to their opponent's might.

A couple of seconds pass and Cinder breaks off in an attempt to dominate her opponent with insurmountable pressure, spurring herself forward, forcing Arvis to walk backward, Cinder constantly swung her weapon, as if she were aiming to beat Arvis over the head with her Scimitar, but his constant speed allowed him to match the Scimitar with his Silver Blade. His speed simply too great for Cinder's attacks to land, which only annoyed the Fall Maiden.

With another powerful swing, Arvis cleaved the Scimitar in two, severing the blade and leaving Cinder with only a damaged hilt and a blunt weapon. With the irritation beginning to swell in her, Cinder knew that just running at him with a weapon won't accomplish anything. She jumped into the air, activating her power of flight, whilst airborne, Cinder composed herself as she summoned fire with her palm, her magical power coming to the surface level. "Well, now. Let's see what you're capable of." Arvis commented with a hint of curiosity, bearing witness to the beginnings of Cinder's true power. From her vantage point, Cinder waved her hand, casting a stream of fire toward Arvis. The Emperor was light on his feet and avoided the flame as it charred the stone floor beneath his feet. Arvis considered reaching into his cloak and retrieving his most powerful weapon, but he remained armed with solely his Silver Blade.

Feeling more comfortable in her position, Cinder intensified her flames, spreading them out to increase her odds of burning Arvis on the spot, but the Emperor proved difficult to avoid, dodging faster than her flames could reach him. It only sought to annoy Cinder further, and she knew she could not stand by and just let him keep evading her attacks. Evading once again, Arvis touched down, waiting to see what actions Cinder would perform next.

Suddenly, Arvis was grabbed at the throat by something that felt like a hand, but it stretched for dozens of meters, and it continued to expand its reach, pushing Arvis back even further and knocking him into the castle walls, which finally brought him to a halt. As the fire began to surround the battlefield, Cinder's visage emerged from the fires as Arvis learned it was Cinder's long Grimm Arm which had ensnared Arvis.

With Arvis in place, Cinder kept Arvis in position as she continued to approach him, the overall length of her Grimm Arm becoming shorter by the second. She then waved her human arm as she once again conjured flame, she took one last look at her cornered opponent, deeming that his attempts were a fruitless endeavour, raising her arm to set him aflame.

Seeing that he was in quite a predicament and that he'd perish if he did nothing, Arvis still noticed the Grimm Arm was considerably stretched, but that it did not appear as fully developed as a human's arm, Seeing an opportunity, Arvis slashed her Grimm Arm with the Silver Blade, severing it and skyrocketing Cinder into a world of pain, she stopped her attack as the damaged Grimm Arm seemed to vanish and the black hazy smoke began to massively increase and contort, bringing Cinder to her knees.

Her screams of agony intensified as the cape was pulled back in the wake of Cinder's pain, revealing she did not have a normal left arm all, instead it was a pitch-black void that climbed up to her shoulder. With his opponent vulnerable, Arvis reached into his cloak and retrieved his prized possession, Valflame. He opened the tome to its page and held his opposite hand high. Suddenly, the world around Cinder appeared a crimson red, and what looked like a red spotlight had been cast on her.

Cinder fought with both her pain and her current situation, trying to understand what was going on. Her Grimm Arm started manifesting once again, reforming to the same shape it was originally. Finally, the pain had come to an end. But it did not leave Cinder's mind witching etching it's way out. And that only began to solidify Cinder's anger. She looked to the cornered Arvis as a fire ignited off of her right eye. She had become furious.

But just before she enacted any payback, she finally noticed her surroundings, and felt the light blind her eye for a moment, she looked to the sky above and saw that even the skies had become red, she looked to the ground to see the ground around her had become considerably hotter and was increasing at such an alarming rate.

"Hellfire upon you!" Arvis declared as the flames intensified and spiralled to the ground, heating the spotlight that covered Cinder and finally, the flames had ignited, and they began burning Cinder, her Grimm Arm was again being affected by the flames, so in desperation, she flew directly toward Arvis, using her flames to create propulsion. Her sudden burst of speed caught Arvis off guard, and Cinder grabbed hold of him as the two flew through the castle's wall.

After a few moments, Cinder tossed Arvis toward the wall, hoping it would break him. But Arvis was able to cushion his impact thanks to his increased defence courtesy of Valflame. After the little tussle had come to an end, the two were a few meters from each other, and Arvis could tell that Cinder was considerably enraged, the fire in her eyes was a dead giveaway she was not thinking strategically.

"For one who claims power does not belong to those in the past, neither of our power is truly our own, it belongs to those who came before." Arvis shared his wisdom, believing that Cinder may, in some fashion, be a descendant from Fjalar, just as he is. Though Arvis's remarks are quickly dismissed by the Fallen Maiden, who utters her own philosophy. "It does not end at power, I want respect, fear, to be dreaded. The things that you should understand." Cinder added as she removed her cape, knowing there was no point in concealing her Grimm Arm any further. "If you understand one thing, make it this: I have no intention of bowing to your will."

Casting Valflame once again, Cinder leapt away, believing she was going to avoid the light being cast on her, when suddenly, red flickered around her, taking on the form of thin red rings. They almost seemed to be legible text, but Cinder was unable to perceive it as Valflame erupted from those red rings into a massive ball of flame, detonating right on Cinder.

"Fjalar, grant me the power to change the world" Arvis proclaimed as he looked up at the heavens above. As he returned his attention to the battle at hand, he saw Cinder on the ground, noticeably taken aback by the ball of fire which dropped right on here, she remained largely unaffected, except for her Grimm Arm, which was burning. However, Cinder was already an adept pyrokinetic fighter, and although she panicked for a short while, she quickly cast some of her ice magic to surround her.

Within her Ice construct, Cinder's wound on her Grimm Arm was beginning to dissipate as the lack of oxygen and the dropping temperature of the ice stunted the fire's ability to burn, at last snuffing it out. Learning something new about his opponent, Arvis became intrigued, Ice magic was not common in Judgral, and similarly belonged to a select few. The prospect of one harnessing power belonging to multiple bloodlines generated curiosity in Arvis's mind, there may yet be reason to keep this woman alive.

(Cue Golden Frieza (Angel) - Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle)

Cinder looked at her surroundings, seeing that the Ice had well and truly protected her, and she quickly set to converting it into attacks for Arvis. With the motions of her hand, the Ice turned into sharp projectiles, all of which aimed toward Arvis, who still had Valflame by his side. He cast the tome once again, this time, creating the erupting fire ball in front of him, which took form and shielded him from the ice.

As the ice melted, Cinder had to keep up the pressure, and decided to go for a direct overpowering approach, she took off into the skies where she formed a barrier of flame around her. Arvis watched carefully, seeing what would happen next. As the fire glow burned around Cinder's right eye, she intensified her flames and launched a massive beam of fire, aimed straight for the Emperor. Knowing he could not rebound or negate that massive attack, Arvis thought of an idea.

Casting Valflame once again, he formed a fire ball in front of him, which was large enough to shield the beam of fire. Arvis maintained his attack's potency, but knew that staying still would be costly. With little choice, Arvis rushed to the side as his spell began to fade, and Cinder's forged ahead, burning through and removing part of the castle walls, leaving a searing blackened gap connecting the inside of the castle to the outside. Flames continued to burn around the courtyard, and many avenues of escape were closing. Cinder finished her massive attack, and looked at the destruction she had inflicted upon the castle. But as she inspected her surroundings, she did not find Arvis anywhere.

Thanks to her power of flight, Cinder flew around the courtyard looking for Arvis. However, her attempts her unsuccessful, as the fire's expanse shielded areas of the courtyard. In an attempt to find her target, Cinder manifested Ice magic, and tossed it across the courtyard where there were flames, and the cold blanket snuffed out the flames, revealing Arvis's location. "There you are..." Cinder uttered with a hint of her devilish smile. She created propulsion behind her as she conjured another of her weapons.

This weapon more closely resembled the Scimitar, but it was darker and had fire spewing out of cracks along the blade itself. Watching the sword headed right for him, Arvis moved to his left, as the sword impaled the wall behind him. Acting quickly, Arvis once again readied Valflame for casting, but suddenly, a fiery explosion rocked Arvis off his feet, knocking him to the ground, dropping Valflame in the process.

Some of the ice melted closed by as Arvis gazed up to see the crazed eye of Cinder looking down at him. "Power has not been kind to you at all, I see now why you were replaced" the bitter words were colder than the ice that surrounded them. Cinder reached down and grabbed Valflame, seeing that Arvis had used it the entire time, and his magic stemed from it. She opened its pages to see that it did indeed house great magic. Climbing to his knees in desperation, Cinder quickly manifest a dagger and tossed it toward Arvis, striking him in the shoulder. The pain and the caurterized wound made Arvis back off as he watched Cinder continue to observe Valflame, admiring the design of the tome.

With the pain inflicted by the dagger being considerable, Arvis fought with himself to either stop Cinder, or just end the pain he was experiencing. It proved substantial, but Arvis mustered the will to tear the dagger from his shoulder, the heat of the weapon leaving his body caused some pain, but his wound did not blood, it simply remained a cauterized wound. But with a weapon in hand, Arvis could make a move, but he needed to act carefully, and not do so wreckessly.

Making his decision as calculated as possible, Arvis flung the dagger toward Cinder, who leapt to the side, and manifested a new one, tossing it toward Arvis, who was struck by the sharp edge, but Arvis forced himself forward and in a desperate move, brandished the Silver Blade once more and swung at the Grimm Arm, she turned only to see that Arvis had allowed himself to take the hit, and she was unable to react to Arvis's attack in time.

And just like before, Arvis brandished his Silver Blade and swung at Cinder, striking her Grimm Arm. Cinder relented to the power of her left arm, and she cried in agony. This brief pocket of time allowed Arvis to retrieve Valflame, activating its power, and restoring him to his strongest, the Recover Ring took effect, and began healing Arvis's body of the damage it had received.

Wasting no time, Arvis opened Valflame, and cast one of his spells. Cinder's Grimm Arm, just as it had done prior, forcibly grew back, restoring it. Pushed to her brink, and emotionally overwhelmed, the fiery glow of Cinder's eye intensified as she held conjured flames in both her hands. She looked for the small red rings, and noticed them in just the nick of time to avoid being caught in the fiery explosion. Refusing to take her foot off the accelerator, Cinder raced toward Arvis, grabbing him by the throat and tossing him to the ground like trash.

"Not all those with power are fit to rule" Arvis rebounded chilling remarks back onto Cinder. In that one moment, Cinder stopped being angry, and realized her surroundings had become red just as they had before. But she did not feel the heat of her surroundings increase. Suddenly, Cinder was pelted by meteors the size of large boulders, one of them struck her on the head, and knocked her to the ground.

The aftermath was considerable, and Cinder felt dazed, as her emotional drive had been jammed. But Arvis chose to continue his offensive, summoning the red rings upon Cinder, as they promptly transformed into a ball of fire, and detonating on Cinder in an explosion which knocked her against the wall. Her-orange colored Aura became visible, the power behind those attacks was simply too great, and Cinder was beginning to realize that power was nothing to scoff at.

Raising his hand high, Arvis prepared Valflame for use once again, but Cinder refused to let that happen, she manifested one of her swords, and threw it toward Arvis, which successfully struck Arvis in the stomach. The Emperor had taken a big hit, and he dropped to one of his knees, determined to see his actions through.

The moment of vulnerability had allowed Cinder the opportunity to stand up without interruption. She approached Arvis as she had no words for him. Refusing to yield, Arvis drew the Silver Blade and attempted to stab Cinder with it, but the Fall Maiden caught the blade with her right hand, and activated her Semblance, heating up the silver itself and breaking the Silver Blade in two. Cinder had claimed an opportunity, and she refused to waste it.

Raising her hand, she held the flames in her palm, ready to extinguish Arvis's life. As a last ditch effort, despite all the pain, Arvis swung his broken Silver Blade on himself, breaking Cinder's sword that had impaled him, its piece flew into the air, and Cinder watched it carefully, and used her Grimm Arm to reach it without moving from her current position. At the same time, Arvis reached to the icy ground and grabbed the broken half of his Silver Blade.

The two took their half objects and attempted to end it here and now. Just as Cinder was about to stab Arvis through his skull, Arvis impaled Cinder's neck with the top half of the Silver Blade. With her Aura unable to block the blade, Cinder's blood leaked onto the blade, and Cinder was unable to deliver her finishing blow. She dropped the blunt object she had acquired as she struggled to breathe, falling to the ground. Arvis slowly rose, and pulled the hot and lethal sword from his stomach, it did not hit anything fatal, but Arvis could not move much at all, but he still had Valflame right by his side.

Taking a deep breathe as his Recover Ring slowly began to heal and rejuvenate him, Arvis watched the struggling Cinder persist at life, but Arvis knew all too well what came next, the memories of the past echoed in his mind, as he stood before Cinder, he removed all of his concerns, seeing there was no point in letting this drag out. "I sentence you to death" Arvis uttered in a unforgiving tone, as Cinder's world became red, and the heat surrounding her began to increase.

Finally, the heat ignited, becoming flame, the slow burn soon sped up as the fire burned more intensely, incinerating Cinder alive. After several seconds, Valflame ran out of material to burn, Cinder had been reduced to ash. Nothing remained of her. Arvis looked over what remained, seeing it move on with the wind, and it with, any trace of Cinder's existence.

Elsewhere in Judgral, there was a group primarily consisting of young freedom fighters, they called themselves the Liberation Army, they had taken time to rest, to ensure they did not run exhaust themselves or their resources. One of them was a young girl, whose soul was kind, and possessed an impressive inner strength, though it felt a lot more simple at first glance. She stood by her lonesome as she dwelled on the thoughts of her family, knowing that her mother was gone, her brother a victim of dark forces, and was uncertain of her father.

She watched the skies, and for a moment she felt something unusual, but it did not feel foreign to her. But she chose not to let those concerns consume her thoughts. She closed her eyes, and hoped that all of this would soon be over. But for better or worse, that wouldn't come without sacrifice, there are few things accomplished without it, and she couldn't defy that simple fact.

As she opened her eyes, a fiery glow of lavender emerged from her eyes. Feeling a surge of power course through her body, it was somehow familiar.

K.O.!

Conclusion[]

(Cue Emperor Arvis - Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War)

Boomstick: Well, that definitely got heated.

Wiz: This is certainly an interesting matchup. Both Arvis and Cinder are naturally capable of pulling off elaborate plans and succeeding, but a confrontation like this put their skills to the test. Cinder held the advantage when it came to versatility thanks to her multiple outlets of power and resources.

Boomstick: Her Maiden Powers let her access all four elements, her Semblance helped turn ordinary objects into dangerous hot weapons, and her Aura provided protection and healing. Plus, she had a broader knowledge of weaponry, swords, spears, daggers, bows, knives, she's got a lot! Which also helped her fight at both short and long-range, enough to keep Arvis at bay. But despite all of that, Arvis had more power thanks to the blood in his veins.

Popup: While both have feats of dodging lightning, Arvis's is superior as Bolting is a cloud to ground lightning bolt, which would need to behave similarly to real-life lightning. Furthermore, Cinder's feat against Amber has no supporting feats by comparable characters, and there is nothing which supports the feat being anything but an outlier.

Wiz: Although Arvis could only fight fire with fire, Valflame granted Arvis several benefits, including resistance to magical attacks, which hindered the magic at Cinder's fingertips. By comparison, Cinder has shown she is vulnerable to elemental magic when her Aura is considerably weakened, as shown when she was frozen alive by fellow Maiden, Raven. Comparing their power, Valflame more than matched what the Maidens could do.

Boomstick: Valflame's power comes from Salamander, a pretty strong Fire Dragon who belongs to the same Dragon Tribe as Naga. And her power has been used to defeat Grima, who generated energy equal to 340.4 Gigatons of TNT just by floating around, and Naga has proven she can defeat Mila and Duma, who can create an entire continent, so it’s safe to say Naga's power is comparable. Sure, Salamander isn't Naga's equal, but even lowballing Salamander to one-twelfth of Naga's power still puts Arvis ahead of Cinder and her scaling to Raven's 516 Kiloton storm.

Wiz: Speed was also pretty decisive, as dodging Bolting puts Arvis at Mach 223 speeds, easily outpacing Cinder and ensuring he was able to avoid her more deadly techniques, like Scorching Caress. Additionally, Cinder is more emotionally volatile than Arvis, while it does make her dangerous, she becomes equally susceptible to reckless decisions. Something that Arvis was more than capable of exploiting. Thanks to his bloodline, Arvis was able to lead Velthomer from a young age, giving him far more experience in manipulating others, as well as his powers.

Popup: Cinder's Grimm Arm has a specific weakness to Silver Eyes, which originated from the God of Light. Despite it being explicitly described as a Holy Weapon, there is no evidence to suggest Valflame would be able to harm Cinder's Grimm Arm in the same vein as a Silver-Eyed Warrior.

Boomstick: Both were able to heal wounds thanks to the Aura and Recover Ring, while both were limited, Cinder running out of her Aura had more drawbacks than Arvis exhausting his Recover Ring. Plus, Cinder's Aura can't protect her Grimm Arm, which makes it a weak point someone like Arvis could exploit and leave Cinder vulnerable to a deadly blow.

Wiz: Cinder more than lived up to her dangerous role as the Fall Maiden, but her versatility in both weaponry and elemental magic were simply unable to subdue Arvis's superior experience, power, speed and empowerment from his Holy Blood.

Boomstick: Looks like Cinder Fell before her opponent, making Arvis just too hot for her to handle.

Winner - Arvis

Wiz: The winner is Arvis.

Original Track[]

Flames of Deception

An Original Track for this fight would be titled "Flames of Deception".

The track's title refers to the combatants' dual status as wielders of pyromancy and their narrative role as a manipulative, deceitful antagonist.

The track cover features Arvis's Holy Weapon, Valflame in the centre of Cinder's Fall Maiden emblem. Both are surrounded by a ball of flame, which references the combatants' pyrokinetic abilities. It may also reference the animation of Valflame in Fire Emblem: Heroes which depicts a fireball with a triangle at its centre.

Trivia[]

  • The connections between Arvis and Cinder Fall are that they are manipulative antagonists who primarily manipulate fire. They are infamous for murdering a virtuous protagonist (Sigurd and Pyrrha Nikos) during an event that went down in history (Battle of Belhalla and Battle of Beacon) which ended in them rising in power (Arvis's ascension to Emperor of Grannvale and Cinder's ascension to Fall Maiden). But despite their infamy, they are not the main antagonist and are ultimately pieces in the dark ambitions of the main antagonist (Manfroy and Salem) who themselves are influenced greatly by a dark entity regarded as a God (Loptous and God of Darkness) that is capable of appearing in both human and draconian form and once feuded with a polar opposite human/dragon entity hailed as a God (Naga and God of Light).
