Anne Marie Wilkes "Annie" Dugan is the main antagonist of Stephen King's novel and film adaptation, Misery. She is a serial killer who has killed almost 70 people over the years.

History[]
Annie Wilkes was born in Bakersfield, California on April 1, 1943 and graduated from the University of Southern California's nursing school in 1966. She began her career as a serial killer in her childhood, killing a neighboring family and even her own father. She went on to kill her college roommate, a hitchhiker she had a fling with, and numerous patients under her care as a nurse.
She was finally found out, when eleven infants died under mysterious circumstance, when she was head of a maternity ward in a hospital in Boulder, Colorado. She was tried for murder, but was acquitted for lack of evidence. Now unemployable as a nurse, she settled in a remote part of Western Colorado. One day, she rescued her favorite romance author, Paul Sheldon, after an automobile accident and kept him as a prisoner, with the idea of murdering him after he finishes his final novel.
Annie is a cunning and devious woman who hides her true self behind a mask of cheery optimism. She is paranoid about the intentions of others, and ruthless in the methods she uses to manipulate them. She abhors profanity, becoming enraged if it is used in her presence.

Annie is a middle-aged Caucasian woman. She is somewhat thick, but by no means fat. Annie does little to improve her looks, having a rather bland hairdo. She often wears a disapproving look on her face, and appears stern if not threatening.
Powers and Abilities[]
Annie does not possess any sort of training in fighting. However, she has a cruel personality, and will not have any compunction about injuring or killing a person. In fact, she rather enjoys doing so.

She has been known to use drugs, knives and even a sledgehammer in her attacks.
