Android 21 vs Morrigan Aensland is a What-If? Death Battle made by Sharaku Jr. in collaboration with 22kingdomheartsfan
Description[]
Dragon Ball FighterZ VS Darkstalkers!!
Interlude[]
Sharaku Jr.: Fighting games are a genre beloved by many, and quite a few star iconic male characters as their lead.
22KHFan: Mortal Kombat's Liu Kang, Street Fighter's Ryu, Tekken's Kazuya, and King of Fighters' Kyo, all these guys have been seen as the faces of fighting games.
Sharaku Jr.: But in Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Darkstalkers, things took a more progressive step, as they star female characters, who the internet just eats up.
22KHFan: Ironic since these two got a massive appetite. One for sweets, the other for souls. But despite that, they saved their respected universes from powerful threats, and now they face off today!
Sharaku Jr.: Android 21, the true ultimate Android!

22KHFan: And Morrigan Aensland, the Ruler of Makai!

Sharaku Jr.: For this fight, we are using the Good Android 21, as a opposed to the evil one that's seen for most of FighterZ.
22KHFan: He's Sharaku Jr., and I'm 22kingdomheartsfan.
Sharaku Jr. And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle!
Android 21[]
22KHFan: Dragon Ball. One of, if not THE best anime in existence, and one that everyone should know the story of.
Sharaku Jr.: The story of Son Goku, the Saiyan sent to Earth as a baby, originally with the intention to destroy, but an accidental head injury made the baby end up becoming the planet's greatest defender.
22KHFan: Since childhood, Goku trained in the art of combat, and has fought many threats over the years. From the bumbling world domination seeking Pilaf, the ruthlessness of his own race, the Sayians, the Intergalactic warlord Frieza, the original incarnation of destruction, Majin Buu, and even literal gods, Goku's fought all kinds.
Sharaku Jr.: But one of his most recurring enemies, one he defeated as a child, the Red Ribbon Army, would often be a source of trouble. Such as creating the "perfect android" Cell. But in time, another, more powerful android would appear, and bring Goku and all his allies to a point of life and death.
22KHFan: An android with more potential then Cell, and strongly believed to be the wife of Dr. Gero, the scientist of the Red Ribbon Army, she is Android 21.
Android 21: Time for another delightful hunt!
Sharaku Jr.: As the name suggests, she is the 21 first android created by Dr. Gero. And she is considered the strongest, as much like Cell, she is biomechanical android, created using the DNA of the universes greatest fighters. From Goku, Vegeta, and Frieza. To Piccolo, Cell, and Maiin Buu.
22KHFan: The Majin DNA however, gave this all power android an uncontrollable hunger that could also be satisfied by consuming powerful fighters. Because of this, 21 looked to suppress her evil urges, she created a device which creates strange waves, that reduced the strongest of fighters to an unconscious state. But before said device could be activated by the rebuilt Android 16, who is also her son, 21 had created an army of clone fighters, based on the fighters from Earth, or the villains that attacked the planet.
Sharaku Jr.: She also managed to find her way to Namek, where she used the Dragon Balls to bring back Frieza, his minions, and Cell. But when the device was activated at last, 21 made use of a system Dr. Gero created call the Soul Link System, which puts the soul of someone into a host, and they can unlock their potential through battle, a system 21 hoped would allow her to defeat her evil side.
22KHFan: Even trying to get the aid of Android's 17 and 18 on her side to help her. Course the plan didn't go quite as she thought, as after a confrontation with Cell, 21 loss control and in that, resulted in Android 16's destruction. The loss of 16 cause 21 to under go a Fission which split her apart with her good side and her evil side.
Sharaku Jr.: With her evil side on the loose, able to use her full power, gaining more power by absorbing Cell and the clone fighters, the Good 21 teamed up with Goku and friends to defeat the Evil 21 and save the universe.
22KHFan: Now. The fun part. Where we talk about 21's abilities, feats, levels of powers, and faults. And given we got basically an amalgamation of the strongest fighters mashed up into the body of a sexy pink colored android, we've got A LOT to cover.
Sharaku Jr.: I think that's a good start, 21 having the DNA of the universe's strongest fighters. Fighters such as Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, Trunks, Cell, Majin Buu, and many more. And by the time 21 was created, Goku and his friends gained great levels of strength and power.
22KHFan: 21, like he rest of the fighters of Dragon Ball has access to an energy called "Ki", which allows fighters to do crazy things, such as fly or shoot energy blasts. Ki can also be used for various other things such as create barriers, heal injuries, create copies of one self, or even create clothes. She can also use moves that fighters like Goku possesses, such as the Kamehameha, which admittingly is an easy move to pull off according to its creator Master Roshi.
Sharaku Jr.: 21 also has access to magical powers thanks to her Majin DNA. This DNA allows her to use one of Buu's most powerful moves, the Candy Beam, which turns foes into food. A move only Vegito during the Buu Saga has been able to beat. In a manner of speaking.
22KHFan: Speaking of her Majin DNA, that also gives 21 the power to regenerate. She could be blown to basically the smallest of pieces and she could recover it. Add to it, she also has Piccolo's regeneration, which he has used to grow back limbs time and again, and Cell, who could regenerate so long as one piece of him is still intact, gives 21 most likely the greatest regeneration in Dragon Ball.
Sharaku Jr.: She also possess the fighters' combat knowledge, knowing several forms of martial arts, giving her incredible skill in combat. These abilities with her feats, and statements made by the creators, make 21 quite a powerhouse.
22KHFan: Despite being in only 1 game so far (not counting Heroes or Legends), 21 quickly showed she's more then a match for several of the fighters in the franchise. Statements from the creators say 21 is strong enough to contend with the strongest fighters of the franchise, and the game shows she can.
Sharaku Jr.: She's been able to take on the likes of Goku, Vegeta and Frieza, who are 3 of the strongest mortals in the universe, and Goku as a Super Saiyan God, during the Battle of Gods fight with Beerus the God of Destruction, was so powerful him clashing with Beerus would have destroyed the entire universe. Not just the universe, but also the afterlife, and the realm of the kais, which exists outside both dimensions. Goku would absorb this power into his base form, making him just as powerful as he was as god. Vegeta would later train with Whis, Beerus' mentor, and he would also gain the same power as Goku, and the two would become even stronger.
22KHFan: Frieza after his first defeat on Namek by Goku's hands, would be brought back to life would train for the first time in his life and gain a power to match Goku, even surpass it. Course, his arrogance resulted in him losing, but that's beside the point. Going by Battle of Gods, Goku at a base level, would be at least 3 times universal, due to his clash with Beerus. Vegeta and Frieza would also match this power, as would anyone who's capable of holding their own against Goku's base form frankly.
Sharaku Jr.: And 21 has been able to hold her own against all 3 of these power houses all at once, making 21 at least 9 times universal. There are some arguments we could make that would give 21 much higher, but we feel that's a good basis to work on. This level of power would also apply to her durability, as she can withstand the blows Goku and the other fighters out there.
22KHFan: Now let's go on with speed. Ever since early Dragon Ball, the characters have been capable of light speed, to FTL speeds. A good example, during the earliest moments of Z, Piccolo destroyed the moon and he fired the beam from Earth with a casual beam. The beam took like 2 or 3 seconds to reach the moon. For an idea, the distance between the Earth and the Moon is about 238,900 miles.
Sharaku Jr.: Another speed feat, is Goku being able to over power Cooler's Supernova attack and launch it to the sun, which tok about 10/15 seconds to reach the sun. And the distance between the Earth and the Sun, is over 93 or 94 million miles. While the events aren't canon, they don't contradict Goku's power, much like how the filler doesn't, and he has been capable of much much higher level of speeds, such as the universe god clash with Beerus.
22KHFan: The clash sent out shockwaves, reaching the end of the universe, even the realm of the Kais which exists outside it, in a matter of seconds. Now while Goku's universe, or Universe 7 as it's called, has a finite size, we don't know the exact size, making it a bit hard to nail down the exact numbers, we can say it's at least Sextillions of times the speed of light, and needless to say, if Goku can generate an attack that's capable of doing this, he can move just as fast, giving 21 the same level of speed. There's also Goku out running Hit's Time Skip, which there's some contradictions among people regarding that, given two statements made by characters. Another thing of note, she is capable of Goku's power of Instant Transmission, which she's able to teleport anywhere in an instant, so long as she has an energy signal to find. There is some debate on Instant Transmission, which could give 21 higher levels of speed, but we'll bring that up later
Sharaku Jr.: 21's biggest feat is when she battled her evil half, who in her own words was stronger then her to a stand still, giving Goku time to prepare the Spirit Bomb which finished them both off, as 21 held her evil half down.
22KHFan: That made me sad... Hoping Goku makes good on suggesting King Yenma bringing her back.
Sharaku Jr.: Only time will tell.
22KHFan: Yeah. So when it comes to intelligence, 21 is believed to be just as, if not smarter then Dr. Gero. She's a scientist with great deal of knowledge in robotics, building devices that can power down the Z-Fighters, or the Dragon Team, or building her own Android 16, one more powerful then the previous model. Combined as stated previously, she has the combat knowledge of Goku and all his friends. So she's not only an above average fighter, but she's also a brilliant scientist!
Sharaku Jr.: Really?
22KHFan: Don't lie, you know that line worked here.
Sharaku Jr.: Guess so! Anyway 21's strong, fast, intelligent, has the best regeneration of any character in Dragon Ball, along with the abilities of the strongest fighters, she's a true force of nature. But she is not without flaws. For starter, while her regeneration is he best in the franchise, she can still be destroyed with enough force, as shown when she was destroyed by Goku's Spirit Bomb, along with her evil self.
22KHFan: And while she is capable of using it, she doesn't use the candy beam, so as not to feed the hunger, which is in there still. More controllable, but still there.
Sharaku Jr.: Another thing that's important to note, while 21 is insanely powerful in her Majin form, she's much weaker in her human form, which according to a quote from her in Xenoverse 2, she's weaker then Android 18
22KHFan: While we aren't taking things from Xenoverse generally, we don't really have anything else to go on in regards to how strong her human form is, so this statement doesn't contradict anything. It's like how Lord Slug was stated to be stronger then first form Frieza which the two seem to agree on in they're interactions in Xenoverse 2.
Sharaku Jr.: Despite her flaws and short list of appearances, 21 has more than proven to be among one of the best fighters to enter the Dragon Ball Multiverse.
22KHFan: Someone please bring her back to Super. She needs to be in the anime and the manga.
Morrigan Aensland[]
Sharaku: The world of Capcom’s Darkstalkers is one of insanity. While Earth is much like our own in most regards, it’s connected to a bigger, more creepy and crawly dimension, the likes of which hadn’t been seen in fighting game history until then.
22KHFan: Known as Makai, this alternate universe is pretty much what if someone said, “Hey! Let’s combine the old Universal horror movies with anime and Looney Tunes and see what we get!” Due to a portal that opens up in the fabric of reality once a month or so, creatures of the night known as… well, Darkstalkers, roam through both their world and the human world.
Sharaku: We’ve got catwomen, vampires, werewolves, a fleet of space robots, tribes of sasquatch and fishmen, and even an armor that’ll possess you if you put it on. Heck, Egypt is run by a huge, time-traveling mummy. All with their own unique stories to them and their kind! But who, one might ask, rules over the realm that all these wacky monsters come from? That would be the face of the Darkstalkers series herself; the legendary succubus, Morrigan Aensland.
22KHFan: Born in 1678, Morrigan was adopted by the then-ruler of Makai, Belial Aensland. Despite how monstrous and powerful he was, he also happened to be a benevolent ruler who took the succubus under his wing. But it didn’t take long until the guy noticed something seriously terrifying about the baby.
Sharaku: Morrigan was born with an untold amount of destructive potential. More than she could ever control at her age. In fact, if her power was left unchecked, she’d end up destroying the entirety of Makai. Not wanting the whole universe to collapse because of an overpowered baby’s temper tantrum, he split Morrigan’s soul into three pieces.
22KHFan: Which, somehow, didn't kill her. Go figure. One piece stayed with Morrigan, one was sealed away in another dimension, and the last stayed with Belial until he was ready to return to Morrigan, once she’d mastered more control over her abilities. Hundreds of years later, the girl grew up to become one of, if not the strongest, yet laziest, fighter in all of Makai.
Sharaku: Due to having hundreds of years of experience, Morrigan is a fantastic fighter, making use of her succubus physiology as much as she can. She’s labeled as an S-Class Darkstalker, which basically means she’s the best of the best when it comes to raw stats. Unlike the typical succubus you might see in other media, she actually lives off of excitement. Whenever she leaves the Aensland Castle and goes traveling, she sees fighting with a lot of the residents as a fun little hobby to get excitement out of.
22KHFan: Yep. Contrary to what many may think, Morrigan is not evil or malevolent at all. Does she pick fights with people on purpose? Yes. Is she hedonistic? Sure. Lazy at her professional duties? Absolutely. A total flirt? Undeniably. But a soul-stealing villain with no regard for mortal life? Nope, not at all. She’s barely got any recorded kills in the main series, none of which are human. Well, I guess there’s the cartoon where she chucked a kid off a cliff-
Sharaku: We don’t- we don’t really talk about that. But that doesn’t mean Morrigan isn’t deadly at all. Far from it. Due to being a succubus, she can shapeshift herself, her clothes and the swarm of bats that she controls, which in and of itself usually act as her wings. She can transform her wings into a jetpack with her trademark airdash, do a seriously pointy Shoryuken-esque attack with the Shadow Blade, or a drilling attack with the Shell Kick. There’s a ton of mecha anime influence with a lot of her moves, if it wasn’t clear. And because she’s a fighting game character, each of her special moves has a stronger EX variant.
22KHFan: That isn’t even scratching the surface of what Morrigan is capable of. She can freely hover, open portals and travel through dimensions, create giant spikes, cleavers or rows of blades with her wings, do a dive-bombing airborne Izuna drop with the Vector Drain, turn her already strong Shell Kick up to eleven with the rocket-powered Valkyrie Turn, or fire out volleys of guided missiles with Finishing Shower.
Sharaku: But by far, the most unique traits about Morrigan are her abilities relating to souls. Her soul itself is supercharged in some regard. Like we said before, Morrigan survived having her soul split apart when she was just a baby. Her Soul Fist, basically her standard fireball like Ryu and Ken’s Hadouken, is actually a weaponized piece of her soul that she fires at her enemy. And moves like Soul Drain or Cryptic Needle are effectively the inverse of that, where she absorbs a bit of her opponent’s energy either to heal or to boost her attack power.
22KHFan: By dividing her own soul in half with Astral Vision, Morrigan can create copies of herself that mirror her every movement. Her classic Raging Demon-style super, the Darkness Illusion, is a synchronized combo of attacks done with another one of her clones. She even has an infamous kiss of death that even works on non-physical beings, though she rarely ever uses it, and she’s only done it on seriously evil beings. Even still, Morrigan’s soul powers are so strong, she’s even survived and regenerated from being torn apart by the sword of Donovan Baine. A sword that straight up consumes souls.
Sharaku: Basically, if you’re trying to put her down, there’s no way you’re doing it via any soul-related shenanigans. Now, Morrigan is ridiculously powerful as it is. She’s fast enough to easily contend with intergalactic robot drones traveling way beyond the speed of light, and strong enough to fight against the likes of Pyron, who’s true form is large enough to engulf galaxies. The guy wears planets like they’re rings. I can’t tell if that’s absurdly badass or a sign of a literal cosmic ego. Maybe both.
22KHFan: But she would grow even stronger once a certain enemy from her adopted dad’s past resurfaced. After old man Belial passed away, Jedah Dohma, an extremely powerful noble who fought him in the past, returned to Makai after being sealed away in another dimension. Now that his ultimate enemy was gone, Jedah sought to enact his plan. He created the Majigen, a universe existing outside the bounds of time and space, and drew in souls from everywhere.
Sharaku: His ultimate goal was to create the Fetus of God, maybe the grossest looking baby in video game history, to absorb every soul and every universe across all dimensions into one perfect existence. To that end, he began to draw in powerful fighters from both Makai and Earth to siphon their power. This obviously caught Morrigan’s attention, and it was inside the Majigen where she met… herself. Kinda.
22KHFan: Remember that piece of Morrigan’s soul that Belial sealed away in another dimension? Turns out, Jedah found that soul, and saw that it had developed its own consciousness and personality. Giving it a temporary body, it became Lilith, a much sweeter and innocent girl who can still pack a punch.
Sharaku: Eventually, Morrigan and Lilith would find each other in the Majigen. Lilith, who kind of just went off and did her own thing separate from Jedah, realized that her body was deteriorating, and she wouldn’t last long alone. Morrigan, who didn’t even know that Lilith was the missing half of her soul, pretty much absorbed her into her body in order to save her from fading away.
22KHFan: It was here that Morrigan was able to reach her true potential. While the mainline Darkstalkers games’ story kinda stopped after Vampire Savior, the Marvel vs. Capcom series, as well as Tatsunoko vs. Capcom portrayed Morrigan after that point. While we won’t be taking any of the scaling from these games for, well, obvious reasons-
Sharaku: *Cough* Comic book scaling moment. *Cough*
22KHFan: …We can include unique special moves she gets from them. No sense in excluding them, right?
Sharaku: Yep. For example, due to the fact that Lilith is a part of Morrigan’s soul, she should have access to all of her special moves. Many of them, such as Soul Flash, Shining Blade, and Luminous Illusion, are functionally similar to Morrigan’s with a few minor differences. But moves like Merry Turn, Mystic Arrow or Splendor Love are all new ones that she can do. While they sound a lot happier, they’re equally as strong as Morrigan’s original moves.
22KHFan: Morrigan is capable of separating Lilith from herself, notably during variations of Darkness Illusion, similarly to how Morrigan does it with her own clones. Additionally, she’s got a few more original moves of her own. As if she wasn’t already versatile enough. Harmonious Spear acts almost like a landmine, where Morrigan can place down clusters of energy and spawn spears from them. Getting caught by the blades actually causes debuffs to the opponent that allows her Soul Fists to drain more energy from the opponent.
Sharaku: Shadow Servant and Silhouette Blade are functionally identical super attacks, both being a row of five bladed attacks coming from the ground, though the latter summons Lilith to do her Shining Blade instead of simple energy blades. As such, it’s way cooler. But, Morrigan’s move list of mecha inspiration wouldn’t be complete without a classic Wave Motion Gun. The Soul Eraser is a gigantic laser cannon, backed up by two smaller laser cannons, that fire out three beams of energy at the same time. If that isn’t cool, I don’t know what is.
22KHFan: Morrigan was able to crush Jedah, and with her newfound bond with the other third of her soul, she was able to destroy the Fetus of God for good. A reminder that Jedah created the Majigen, its own universe. And since Morrigan merged with Lilith after defeating the guy, not before, even just one-third of Morrigan’s power would scale to that kind of strength. Adding that with the other third she gained from merging back with Lilith, and the one that returned to her after Belial’s passing, that’s at the very least three times universal.
Sharaku: But it can potentially go even further. The Fetus of God was going to merge every single universe into one had Morrigan not stopped it. But how many universes is that, really? Well, we already know the size of Darkstalkers’ ordinary universe is much larger than our own, due to the fact that the cosmic being Pyron can exist without, well, destroying the galaxies around him. But putting a specific number on it is tough. Either way, definitely much stronger than three times universal, but it’s questionable by how much.
22KHFan: And Morrigan was able to get even faster as well. Due to the fact that Jedah was able to exist and move in a void outside of space and time, and the Majigen is stated to be above time itself, Morrigan’s top speed is incalculable by any sort of numerical measurements. Jeez, and I thought her airdash was already fast enough…
Sharaku: But as strong as she is, she’s not perfect. Like we said before, she’s quite lazy, and unless something really excites her, she won’t take it too seriously. This can extend to combat as well, but this isn’t too big of an issue if Morrigan’s fighting an opponent who’s on her level.
22KHFan: And Morrigan needs excitement to keep going. Since she literally feeds off of it, if she goes without it for too long, she would slowly weaken until she dies. That’s fucked up. Imagine being a succubus and being stuck working a 9-to-5 office job. Well, despite this, Morrigan still manages to be the uncontested strongest character in her series. I guess that makes up for it.
Sharaku: But it wasn’t just Morrigan’s power that changed that day. After merging back with Lilith and becoming whole again for the first time in centuries, she finally felt complete. Like she could do anything she wanted if she just set her mind to it. With that, she finally began to accept the responsibility of being Makai’s ruler, and set off into the world of the humans once more.
22KHFan: Aaaaaand then she was doomed to show up in nothing but crossovers for the rest of time. Marvel vs. Capcom, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, Namco X Capcom! Jesus Christ! Seriously, Capcom, can you guys make a new Darkstalkers already?! Wait any longer, and Morrigan will become the Captain Falcon of your company!
Sharaku: Well, all we can do now is pray. As while she hasn’t gotten a game to herself in a long time, her popularity hasn’t diminished at all, proving for a fact that she, and the Darkstalkers, will never truly die.
Pre-Battle[]
Sharaku: All right, the combatants are set, we've gone over they're stats, abilities, and who we believe has the highest probability of victory.
22KHFan: So sit back, relax, and let's get this battle started!
