Intro

Wiz:Usally stories of kids with powers end happily.

Boomstick:And then ones where they become evil and it ends bad for either them or people around them.

Wiz: Like Andrew Detmer, The Apex Predator from Chronicle.

Boomstick:Or Brandon Breyer,The Brightburn and evil Superman from Brightburn.

Wiz:And its our job to analyze their weapons,armor,and skills to find out who would win in a Death Battle.

Wiz: Life certainly didn't go easy on Andrew "Andy" Detmer.

Boomstick: And by not easy,that means hard. Like, almost unbearable hard. Getting bullied, suffering abuse from his father, his only friend , Matt, hardly paying attention to him, and his mother dying of cancer. The only thing that he enjoyed was using his camera,which he bought more or less so his father would stop abusing him, as everything would be on camera.

Wiz: One night, Matt invited Andrew to come to a warehouse party.

Boomstick: And this is where things get interesting. After Andrew was attacked by one of his bullies , he was helped by a kinder student,named Steve. Steve invited Andrew to come record something strange he and Matt found in the woods.

Wiz: What was this "strange thing", you may ask? Nothing much,it appeared at first. It was a strange hole emitting a loud noise. When they went to go in to see what it was,well..

Wiz: A strange,crystal like creature emitting the noise.

Boomstick: Well,whether this was to give the 3 powers or not, it certainly did,but not before it almost killed them. It started giving them nosebleeds and headaches from the intensity of the sounds, and the boys merely escaped before the tunnel collapsed due to the sheer intensity of the noise.

Wiz: Weeks later, they developed telekinetic powers, which Andrew recorded. They started off doing some harmless public pranks, like moving a teddy bear to scare a kid and such. The worst that happened was accidentally knocking some random guy over, but it's wasn't that bad.

Wiz: However something was bound to go wrong. You see,after they gained their powers,the 3 gained a somewhat telepathic connection, and could sense eachotheres emotions.

Boomstick: And that proved fatal for Steve,who tried to console Andrew after he had another fight with his father ... but this happened.

*Insert clip of Steve's death by lightning bolt yanked out if cloud by Andrew*

Popup: While it was speculated for a time if Andrew generated the election or not, it is likely Andrew managed to yank it out of the clouds. However, it's highly unlikely this was a coincidence that a bolt happened to hit Steve. It was stated by Matt that there was no strikes reported that night. Also,it is likely that Andrew did not intend to kill Steve.

Wiz: So,this guy can pull lightning out of clouds WITHOUT weather control being one of his powers,that's just how purely strong his telekinesis is. Wow.

Boomstick: Anyways...Andrew was in desperate need of money for his mother's medicine. He robbed some thugs on his street,which went over well,as he was just stealing, not killing them. However...he did nearly die after a gas tank explosion after he tried to rob a gas station. Lucky for him,he activated his sheilds at the last second,saving him.

Popup: Since Andrew was able to react to a commercial plane going at least 400 MPH,this explosion was likely in the same range. Also,the explosion destroyed the building, making Andrew's sheilds at least small building level durability.

Wiz: He later generated an explosion that destroyed his hospital room completely, right after waking up from a coma. Considering the fact that this explosion actually destroyed the room,and that the average hospital room is able 120 square feet,this is likely a high wall to small building level feat.

Boomstick: You know,all this makes it ironic that he died to a spear because he went insane...

Wiz: Oh! About his death. You see,people often forget thag Matt had powers similar to Andrew's and was around the same level as him. So this was not a normal throw,it was backed by matts telekinesis. And we can assume that Andrew without sheilds is about normal human level,as Matt was pierced by high caliber bullets without his sheilds.

Boomstick: Still,can you imagine if Matt didnt manage to kill Andrew? He'd still be on the prowl..get it? Because hes "The Apex Predator " ? Haha...

Wiz: On May 24th, 2006, a couple in a small rural town in Kansas named Tori and Kyle Breyer have been hoping to have a child for so long but couldn't be fertile enough to do it. When things went dire for them, during a meteor shower a mysterious object was seen hurdling through the sky and soon crash landed into their land. A start of a tale many of us are familiar with.

Boomstick: And one that would take a dark turn but we'll get to that later. After looking at the giant space pod and not deciding to call the military for any concern for what the hell could be inside it, they found a convenient human looking baby in there. So they take the little guy home and begin to raise him like the child they've always wanted. Surprisingly wholesome so far but considering we've had two similar evil superman-like figures before this... you can probably tell that this kid is just as deadly.

Wiz: Though he wasn't planning on doing such acts immediately. As for the first 12 years of his life, Brandon Breyer had been living a normal life with his parents and was living as a normal kid. But after reaching puberty, an inevitability came when Brandon had discovered the powers that he had possessed.

Boomstick: Which started by chucking a lawnmower a couple hundred feet in the air. Oh yeah, he also thought it'd be a good idea to stick his hand in the still spinning blades of the deadly machine. Luckily he's a superman copy and was completely fine and just wrecked the blade, otherwise things could've gone a whole different direction.

Wiz: With that, Brandon's usually timid personality started to take a more sinister turn. With his new found abilities, Brandon would soon start becoming more aggressive and outburst at others.

Boomstick: That's just alien puberty at it's work. You know, teenage angst, general outbursts, the usual stuff. You know except for maybe stalking your crush and crushing her hand but we know jack-shit about his species so who knows? Maybe that's a way of communication for them.

Wiz: While.. true that Brandon's species aren't necessarily explain throughout the movie, what we do know is his species are parasitic in nature and they indoctrinate their children with subliminal messaging. Shown here with Brandon, when he started receiving an encrypted message in his sleep via a telepathic link with the ship he arrived in which caused him to sleepwalk to its location.

Boomstick: Soon enough, when fully awake, he found the ship his parents tried to hide from him. And once learning about he was actually some extraterrestrial that came from another world entirely and was different from everyone on Earth... he didn't handle it all that well.

Wiz: With this discovery, he got out into the rainy night as the message from the ship would soon be translated. This would be his true purpose in life. From that day, humanity would be brought to its knees by its grand overlord, bearing the name of the village that had raised him into the monster he was about to be. The personality of Brandon would be dead, and Brightburn would rise to Take the World.

Boomstick: So to start off, he went home, made his own supervillain costume and was ready to bring terror to everyone in his home town.

Boomstick: Brandon has the usual things you can get in the Superman Power Pack. Super strength to chuck trucks away, flight to send you into the stratosphere, super speed so people can't even know what killed them, and good old laser vision hot enough to burn through solid steel.

Popup: Given the fridge he used his laser on was possibly made of galvanized steel, Brandon's heat vision would have to be 2,800° Fahrenheit, or 1,810.93° Kelvin. Although his father was shown to have died slowly from it, it's most likely Brandon had some form of control over the temperature of his heat vision.

Wiz: Along with that, his durability is also immense able to have Brandon take any amount of damage without any sign of harm on him. Weather it be lawnmower blades, gun shots, knives, nothing can harm him. It even seems his physiology makes him immune or at the very least resistant to all earthly diseases. And like his opponent he also has some form of telekinesis on him, from being able to rip off steel doors to shattering a light fixture on the ceiling and is precise enough with it to aim one of the falling glass shards right into his target’s eye.

Boomstick: Oh shit... that's a terrifying yet creative way of doing it I guess.

Wiz: Along with that, he also seems to have a form of technopathy, a psychic link to machinery that allowed him to manipulate electronics in such a way to flash or turn lights and machines to malfunction by just thinking it. His superhuman intelligence also makes him rather gifted and allows him to heavily study subjects better than most people. Such as studying the human anatomy to learn as much about the weaknesses of the human body.

Boomstick: This kid is basically the combination of a nerd and quiet kid. Oh and since this a horror movie, he can also make chickens go absolutely mad in fear by just standing in place. Heh like anyone would be scared of him uh- he's just well... Shudders Is it cold in here or is that just me?

Popup: While this could also work on people as well, Brandon has less showings of it actually working on certain people.

Wiz: Uh, moving on, as an extraterrestrial apex predator Brandon is able to conceal his presence whenever he's on the hunt. With his incredible stealth, it allows him to take down his victims before they even notice him and allows him to perfect his kills with every victim he comes after.

Boomstick: With all these sort of powers, it's no wonder everyone was scared shitless when he came around. How many more powers could he possibly have and.. what even is he? He ain't powered up by the sun so how does even do all these sorts of things?

Wiz: Usually I can provide an explanation for this but even my knowledge of Brandon's species is quite limited with how shrouded in mystery everything is. Fortunately, there are some clues as to the nature of his species, one given by Brandon himself who compares himself to a wasp. Quote "Wasps are more aggressive, more dangerous. One species, the Polistes Sulcifer, is what’s called a brood parasite. They’ve lost the ability to make nests, so they use brute force to make other wasp species raise their young. And they make them feed their babies things like beetle larvae and maggots." End quote.

Boomstick: Well I guess that explains that freaky mask then. Little bastard's basically a living parasite sent to crush the whole planet into nothing.

Wiz: While it doesn't really confirm how the species probably is, it's certainly an explanation for this sudden act of violence and predatory instincts that have taken over him.

Feats

• Kill Count: 247 and counting
• Survived a plane crashing into him
• Tanked a shotgun blast point blank
• Flew through walls with ease
• Flew fast enough to splatter Sheriff Deever's body in an instant
• Lifted a truck into the air with no difficulty
• Set an entire forest on fire with his heat vision
• Flew through a large office building hard enough to make it collapse upon impact without damage
• Implied to be able to concentrate enough energy through his heat vision to destroy the Earth

Wiz: He's flown fast enough to reach the stratosphere in only a few moments, set an entire forest ablaze with his heat vision, and can fly through entire buildings to collapse them without any damage. Based on the size of the building, our estimates lead us to believe this would be a force would be equal to at least 2 Tons of TNT.

Boomstick: And that's just from flying casually through it! At the end of the movie, he looked straight at a jet plane and weather it be through his technology manipulation, deadly laser vision or with his own hands, he made that thing crash into his house and made sure all 268 passengers aboard were killed. Jesus this brat is a literal monster!

Wiz: The worst part, it's that he's pretty much the most powerful person on the entire planet. Which means from what we've seen, no one could possibly stand up to him.

Boomstick: Seriously? No Batman to take him on or another potential Lois Lane to mingle with and teach him how to do good?

Wiz: Nope. Worse it might not even matter. In the journals his mother found before her and Kyle's death, she saw through many sketches of his killings in exact detail along with things he could later on once discovering his powers. Such as.. eventually harnessing energy to destroy the Earth...

Boomstick: Oh... damn that blows.

Popup: While it's implied the Brandon could potentially do this when the times comes, it's unknown how long it would take for him to reach this level of power especially with how much weaker his other feats are. This feat most likely would've been more prevalent in Brandon's later years.

Boomstick: But like any Superman clone, some good old Kryptonite stand in can harm him. The metal of his ship can cut him though won't exactly weaken him.

Wiz: And despite his immense power, he's only ever used it against normal humans and animals that couldn't come close to matching him so he doesn't have any experience fighting against anyone with supernatural abilities like himself. This allowed him to grow quite arrogant and would allow him not to take any opponent that faces him seriously. And he can get quite easily angered when pushed to his limits.

Boomstick: Even with those weaknesses nobody can really do anything about it. I mean, Brandon would be too fast for anyone to shoot him down and he could just tank those shots and nobody even knows about the one thing that could kill him. Man this feels depressing.

Wiz: Which might seem to be the point. While other Superman like figures such as Omni-man, Plutonian, and even Homelander were able to defy their own fate, becoming more than what they originally were intended. Brandon however, fully accepted his nature as the apex predator of Earth. Thus, it made him into a psychotic monster hellbent on completing his task.

Boomstick: He's got no more family or attachments to humanity to help ground him back into reality and there ain't no plucky protagonist willing to stand up against him. He's ascended into a being of incredible power, standing at the top by himself with a species that's entirely inferior to him in every way. There won't be anything that can stop him no matter how hard they try, and no matter where you go Brightburn will be there to bring down this world. Pray to whatever benevolent God you believe in because the moment he comes for ya, you're already doomed.

Brandon: I wanna tell you what I learned tonight… I learned that… I’m very special… You’re one of the only people in the world that… knows how special I am… but someday…, they will all know.

Intermission

Wiz: All right the combatants are set and we've run the data through all possibilities!

Boomstick: It's time for a Death BATLLLLLLLLLE!

Pre Fight

Location: Seattle, Washington,????

Andrew had just finished robbing the thugs, still wearing his dads firefighter suit as a disguise...he then sees something strange in the sky and floats up higher.

Brandon was what Andrew saw, Brandon was just finished killing Erica at the diner...he turned to face Andrew and scoffed.

"And who are you supposed to be?" ,Brandon said with a cocky and slightly snobby tone.

Andrew just met this kid and he already hated him...this was going to end badly for one of them.

"Kid, you talk a big game for looking like knockoff Superboy..",Andrew says in an annoyed tone.

Brandon scoffs again, unamused.

"At least I ain't wearing a damn firefighter costume."

All through this Andrew still held his camera.. until Brandon threw it to the side with his telekinesis and broke it.

"HEY! THAT WAS MY CAMERA, YOU LITTLE SHIT! I'M GONNA KILL YOU FOR THAT!"

Brandon's eyes glowed red and spoke in a menacing tone.

"You are so on."

FIGHT!

Brandon opened the fight with his heat vision, which Andrew blocked with his shield. It annoyed Brandon that a human was able to avoid his attack so easy, and he tried again, but the same. Before he could react, he suddenly felt the pain of a bench hitting him, and slides across the ground.

Brandon: "You are gonna regret that!"

Andrew: "Yeah, sure kid!"

Brandon then flies into Andrew and punches him multiple times, and despite Andrew managing to block, he still feels the impact of the blows, and punches back. It seems they are almost equal.

Brandon: *He roars in frustration.* "How are you not dead already!?"

Andrew manages to land a blow o Brandon's face, knocking him back. Brandon then tackles Andrew and attempts to pummel him, and causes some pain to Andrew before being thrown back with his telekinesis.

Andrew: "Get off me, asshole!"

Brandon: "JUST FUCKING DIE!"

Brandon rips the firefighter mask off Andrew and then punches him, sending Andrew sprawling. However, Andrew reacts and manages to ragdoll Brandon with his telekinesis, and Brightburn groans in frustration. He uses his heat vision, this time Andrew barley blocks it and let's out a yelp. Brandon can't help but chuckle at that, but then a trash can is slammed into his face. The two attacked each other in air, neither really having a plan. Andrew tackles Brandon, but they both land painfully on the ground and let go of each other, wheezing.

Andrew: "Hey...this is the junkyard..."

Brandon: "Wha-" An old car is slammed onto him, creating a cocoon like form around him. However, despite being slightly pained, he lasers his way out and faces Andrew with an unimpressed look.

Brandon: "That all you got?"

Andrew: "Oh, I'll show you what I've got, ya fucker.."

Andrew picks up multiple abandon cars and throws them at Brandon. Brandon dodges 2 and lasers one on half, then flies at Andrew.

Andrew: "Damn-" He is then pummeled by Brandon, and when he stands up, his nose is bleeding and his lip is busted. He looks at Brandon with pure hate in his eyes.

Andrew: "You are going to pay for that.:

Andrew then grabs Brandon with his telekinesis, slamming him into the ground multiple times and causing Brandon to bleed from the mouth. They are both now in the main city part, and a lot of people are running away from them, however they continue fighting, slamming each other through buildings, until they both fly through one and both land on the ground, breathless.

Brandon then fires his heat vision and sears Andrew's arm, and Andrew yells in pain, but quickly reacts and grabs Andrew with his telekinesis, twisting his body

Brandon: "Ah,AAAHH! WHAT THE FUCK?"

Andrew laughs, but Brandon escapes his grip with blood on his shoulder, then firing his heat vision, which Andrew blocked, then threw Brandon back into the glass wall, Shattered it, and then attempted to pummel Brandon while he was down, but Brandon threw him off.

Brandon: "How is a human still fighting me?"

Andrew: "You mean to tell me you ain't human, you fucker? Well I guess that much is obvious with how fucking ugly you are!" He says while dodging Brandon laser. He then rips out a light pole from the ground and launch it at Brandon, which he Dodged, and its Shattered the building behind him.

Brandon: "You missed, idiot!" He then flies forward and attempts to hit Andrew three times, which Andrew manages to dodge. Andrew then blocks the next three punches, before flinging Brandon up higher and punching him, they were now just below the clouds. However, Brandon then got a solid hold on Andrew's neck, and as Andrew clawed at him, looked at him, with no sympathy as his eyes started to glow red.

Brandon: "Looks like-", He was then cut off by a slight rumble, which surprised him, his grip on Andrew loosened a little, then looked around. There was no way that w-

CR-RRACK!

The lightning hit Brandon, who has let go of Andrew completely, hitting Brandon and electrocuting the hell out of him and singing his chest and clothes, he screams in pain.

Brandon: No way...

Andrew then launches Brandon back to the ground, and Brightburn slams into the ground painfully. He recovers but he's obviously in pain. Andrew launches multiple objects at Brandon, who flies forward and attempts a punch. However...Andrew grabs Brandon's wrist with telekinesis, snapping it.

Brandon: "ARRRRGGGGHHHH! WHAT THE FUCK!?"

Andrew was too mad to respond with anything other than a loud yell,and generated an explosion, which sent Brandon flying back a bit. However...Brandon seemed to realize something, even with his now snapped wrist and the incredible pain... He launches his heat vision, and because Andrew is not focused on his defense, it cuts straight through his stomach.

Andrew: "Oh MY GOD, DAMMIT-"

Brandon then hits Andrew in the right shoulder, cutting his arm off completely, and before he can even scream, Brandon flies full speed, splattering Andrew into small chunks and a few puddles of blood, and Brightburn was now covered in it...

Brandon breathes heavy, his burned, his wrist is broken, his mouth and nose are bleeding, his mask and cape are destroyed and he's lightheaded as hell. However, unlike Andrew, he's alive. He looks up to the sky and mutters,

"Take the world."

KO!

Wiz: This fight was a pretty hard one to decide. They were nearly equal in every category and had very many advantages of their own.

Boomstick: But in the end it all came down to Andrew's main weakness with his shields. While Andrew could definitely react to Brandon, and vice versa, he isn't as protected if he isn't focused. And he loses his focus quite easily.

Wiz: While Andrew was stronger with his telekinesis, lifting about 5 busses while the most we've seen Brandon lift is a car, his shields really slow him down. And while neither were trained killers either, Andrew did have better training and understanding of his powers as compared to Brandon not fully using those powers to their full potential.

Boomstick: Andrew's main advantage was definitely his superior attack speed with the lightning bolts, but again, the shields.

Wiz: Even with it, Brandon would most likely be able to survive them, given how he was able to crash through multiple buildings with ease, he would still be 1.6 times more durable than the lightning bolt.

Boomstick: Even then, it's not like Andrew was gonna catch up with Brandon that much anyways. Brandon could fly all the way to the height an airplane can fly in only a few seconds flat. Way more than anything Andrew has ever done or can reasonably scale to.

Wiz: There's also the fact that Brandon was far stronger physically compared to Andrew. Despite the powers he was given, he's still an ordinary human who can be overpowered by his own kind, as opposed to Brandon whose leagues superior to humanity in terms of strength.

Boomstick: He would also be smarter on the battlefield. While Andrew was able to learn his powers fairly quickly, Brandon's higher intelligence would allow him to pick up on Andrew's abilities early on and let him find a counter much quicker.

Wiz: Add on to the fact that Brandon's fear manipulation could overwhelm Andrew, and he'd be to cause him to lose his concentration and break through his defenses.

Boomstick: The demon superman child just had too much on him for Andrew to defend against. Even his durability negation wouldn't help that much considering Brandon's speed. He just wouldn't be able to focus enough to get that lucky hit on him.

Wiz: Andrew held his own in this fight. His more creative usage of telekinesis, training, and experience gave Brandon much to deal with, but Brightburn's superior strength, abilities, and intelligence allowed him to win in the end.

Boomstick: Andrew flew too close to the sun and burnt up in a bright blaze of glory.

Wiz: The winner is Brandon Breyer, Brightburn.
