Description[]

Fire Emblem vs RWBY! From humble beginnings trying to protect the powerless, to becoming legends in their own right, these kind, budding heroes will put their lives on the line for others, but there's no escaping this confrontation! Who will prevail? Knight or Huntress?

Interlude[]

Wiz: There are many reasons why people seek strength. Some seek to reach the pinnacle of their discipline through complete mastery, while others may pursue it in hopes of nefarious gain. But most commonly, people just want to protect those who they hold dear.

Boomstick: With a lost mother and trauma guiding them to become the kind of heroic defenders of the innocent that they had always looked up to, all these two want to do is help out those in need.

Wiz: Finding their own justice amidst a world mired in corruption, the path they walk to becoming a hero is a long one, but a worthy one indeed.

Boomstick: And they're complete cinnamon rolls to boot! You can't help but love 'em!

Wiz: Amelia of Silva, proud Knight of Grado and the Blossoming Knight Prodigy.

Boomstick: And Ruby Rose, the Silver-Eyed Huntress and leader of Team RWBY. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyse their weapons, armour and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle!

Amelia[]

Wiz: Long ago, monsters roamed the land, and humanity was nearing the brink of extinction. Under threat of the Demon King Fomortiis, mankind desperately appealed to the heavens, and through blinding light, their prayers were answered. Blessed with five Sacred Stones; divine treasures with the power to dispel evil, the legendary Five Heroes, led by the dragon, Morva, we able to fight back against Fomortiis and his demonic army. After a long and gruesome battle, the Demon King was defeated and his body was buried in the Black Temple within Darkling Woods, with his soul sealed inside one of the Sacred Stones.

Boomstick: This stone would belong to the Hero, Grado, and it would come to be called the Fire Emblem. With the five stones distributed between the Five Heroes, they would each go on to found and rule their own nations; Renais, Frelia, Jehanna, Rausten, and the country, Grado. Yeah, Grado named his Empire after himself, he’s cool enough to do that. And with peace established, their story would be passed down for 800 years until the modern day. There’s not a person in Magvel who doesn’t know of the Five Heroes and their heroic deeds!

Wiz: Children everywhere look up to these stories, as was the case with Amelia, a young child from Grado. Born into the small village of Silva, she had a happy life with her mother and father, but this ultimately wouldn’t last. Her father would pass away when she was still young, leaving just her mother, Melina to look after her. Still, she was immensely kind with a strong sense of justice. Although a little clumsy, she’s as sweet as can be, and is always looking out for others. She even took care of a songbird, and it meant a lot to her. Yet despite all that, Amelia was still young and ultimately powerless to defend her village when it was attacked by bandits.

Boomstick: When they broke into her home, Amelia hid under the bed at her mother’s insistence, keeping her safe and unharmed. Despite that, she was forced to watch and stay silent as her sick mother was kidnapped and her home ransacked. Though Silva weathered the attack, the event traumatised the young girl, and she vowed to become the greatest soldier Grado would ever see. To never feel helpless again and become strong enough to protect her loved ones and those she cares about. With her mind made up and goals reinforced, Amelia put in the hard yards training, and once she’d grown up some more, eventually began to make her way to the capital.

Popup: Amelia has the Thunder affinity, which loosely determines a character's stat boosts that are gained from supports. It additionally grants heightened defence and evasion, and increases one's critical hit and critical hit evasion rate. It is not definitively known how these affinities came to be in Magvel, but it is said that the affinities of Elibe were seven elements put into the world by the gods. Aside from Amelia, the only other units in Sacred Stones to possess a Thunder affinity are Gilliam, Gerik, Dozla, Syrene, Selena and Caellach.

Wiz: Though she’d spend a fair amount of time in the border town of Serafew first. Between both Renais and Grado, the people wanted nothing to do with the growing conflict Grado was about to bring, and it only got worse once they declared full-on war against Renais. Now, for a bit of history, the crown prince, Lyon, had been performing some experiments in order to prevent an incoming natural disaster that would devastate most of Grado, and with the untimely death of his father on top of that, the poor youth was lost and desperate. He ended up turning to the power of Grado’s Sacred Stone, and the Demon King inside, using his power to revive his father, Emperor Vigarde.

Boomstick: But, as well all know, these kinds of Faustian Bargains rarely, if ever, work out well. Fomortiis would influence Lyon, feeding his worst thoughts and feelings, but giving him the power that he sought all the same. In control of Vigarde, Lyon’s war would see the king of Renais murdered and his children, Ephraim and Eirika, split up and on the run. In his quest to seek out all the Sacred Stones and shatter them in order for Fomortiis to be revived, Lyon and his three new evil generals would spread slanderous propaganda about Ephraim and Eirika to the public, rallying support for Grado while, ironically enough, demonising his enemies.

Wiz: Unfortunately, they were successful in fooling a majority of the public, including Amelia. She wanted to become a hero of justice and defender of the innocent, and Grado’s lies tricked her into thinking that they were evil. Something that doubtlessly further ignited her passion to join the army and make a difference in the world. And before she made the final stretch of her journey, Amelia made sure she was fully prepared. She’s stocked up on Vulneraries; medical solutions which restore health, Antitoxins; medical solutions which cure poison, and Torches, which increase the wielder’s range of vision, and could likely be used as a makeshift weapon in a pinch. Especially when lit aflame.

Boomstick: Not long after, Amelia made her way to the capital, enlisting in Grado’s Army as a fresh Recruit. Inexperienced, yet eager, Amelia looked up to Grado’s legendary general Duessel of the Imperial Three, who bore the moniker Obsidian. As such, she took up the lance as her weapon of choice, starting with the reasonable Slim Lance. It’s not the most powerful, but it’s light, and won’t slow her down. It even grants the user a higher chance to land a critical hit, which does three times the damage! And not long after, she’d receive her first post as a soldier, but it’s here where events start to diverge.

Popup: In the May 31, 2004 prototype build of Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones, it was found that Amelia was originally planned to be the princess of Frelia during development and was given the class Apprentice, internally referred to as Probation Flier, effectively replacing Tana. In the final product, the class was altered to what would become the Recruit class, Amelia's actual class in her finalised role as a Grado soldier.

Wiz: The story of Sacred Stones differs depending on which of the twin lords you choose to follow. In Chapter 8, the choice between Ephraim and Eirika is presented, and no matter which is chosen, key events diverge from here on out. They eventually come back together in Chapter 15, but many things are still different. Although both routes are considered canon, and are accounted for in analysing Amelia, we will be primarily focusing on Ephraim’s route for the sake of a concise, coherent narrative, and because it offers more opportunities for Amelia’s growth as a character and unit.

Boomstick: So, first stationed at the impenetrable Fort Rigwald, Amelia would get her chance to serve her country, but things we not all as they seemed. Word had carried of General Duessel’s opposition to the war, and doubt was starting to grow. People were beginning to question the emperor’s decisions and why he started the war, and truthfully, their hearts weren’t in it to fight. But the disgusting commander Gheb insulted and threatened the soldiers, which Amelia couldn’t stand. They were soldiers of Grado; proud of their nation and they wanted to fight in its defence. They weren’t slaves, and they deserved to be treated with respect!

Wiz: She wanted to honour the emperor, General Duessel, and the people of Grado, but all of it was wrong. This wasn’t just, and she wouldn’t stand for it. A sentiment they all agreed with, but for speaking out against him, she was sent to the front lines against Ephraim’s invading battalion in hopes for her to die. She could certainly hold her own, but thankfully, the prince of Renais understood that many didn’t want to fight, and sought to take out Gheb directly as soon as possible. During the conflict, Amelia would find herself facing the cavalier, Franz, and went to attack him, but accidentally fell in the process, tripping due to her stance.

Boomstick: Helping her up, Franz talked with her, understanding well what it’s like to be a novice knight, and giving her help with her stance. Hell, he still made some of the same mistakes. And honestly, he didn’t want to fight her, and knew that she didn’t either. Grado had said that Ephraim takes female prisoners to use as palace slaves, so she was hesitant, but Franz promised her that it wasn’t true, and that she would never be forced to do that. With his word of honour given to her, Amelia put her trust in Franz, now on his side as a part of Ephraim’s army. And the first thing they had to do was get rid of Gheb.

Popup: After completing both Ephraim and Eirika’s routes, the option is unlocked for the “Trainee” classes to promote into themselves twice over, allowing for increases stat caps and additional bonuses. These classes are colloquially referred to by fans as the “Super Trainee” classes. For Amelia, the third stage of “Super Recruit” gives her an innate 15% critical boost, similar to the Swordmaster and Berserker classes.

Wiz: With the rest of the army, Amelia faced off against him. She was not his pawn, and his threats no longer held any power over her. Slaying the Grado commander, a weight was lifted off of Amelia’s shoulders. She realised the lies Grado had been feeding everyone, and was determined to make things right, which she could now do that she was on Ephraim’s side. And, as she’d find out, Ephraim’s army was a lot more kind and friendly than Grado’s was. She didn’t have to be so formal all the time, and she quickly made friends with the other members, becoming close friends with Ross and Neimi, but especially Franz. She developed a crush on the boy, and he did for her as well.

Boomstick: Bonding together, they decided to become friendly rivals, always pushing each other to be the best they could be and helping each other improve. And in time, their hard work would pay off. Franz would promote from a Cavalier into either a Paladin or a Great Knight, given the branching pathways of Sacred Stones’ promotion system, but Amelia as a Recruit had even greater options. She could either promote into a heavily armoured Knight or a horseback Cavalier, with an awesome ponytail to boot! Sacred Stones doesn’t give a definitive, canonical answer as to what she chooses, but Fire Emblem Awakening and Heroes suggests that she may have gone down the Knight path.

Wiz: This is simply one version of her, however. Multiple units in Fire Emblem Heroes have alternate versions from different classes, and it is still ongoing, so there is every chance she will have more forms in the future. Regardless, we will be considering every possible path for her in order to provide the most comprehensive analysis possible. This includes skills she’s picked up like Defence +2, which increases her defence and durability, and Luck +4, which increases her luck in avoiding enemy attacks, boosts the accuracy of her own strikes, and lowers the chance of opponents landing critical hits. It also boosts her chance of finding items on the ground.

Boomstick: Amelia would also learn the skill Sacred Cowl, which decreases damage done by ranged enemies by 30%, and it activates with every second action, so she can call upon it constantly. Paired with the fact that her armour as a Knight offers her great defence, covers the majority of her body from attacks, and boosts her constitution, allowing her to wield heavier weapons, Amelia is a downright tank! She also gets access to a horse in the Cavalier class, as well as greater movement and the ability to use swords, giving her even more weapon variety. She can zoom around the map and take out enemies before they even reach the rest of her allies, making her an invaluable asset to the army.

Popup: Amelia also has access to the Earth Boost and Armour March skills. The former grants her +6 to her defence if her health is at least 3 points more than her enemy during combat, and the latter allows her to passively increase the movement of ally armoured units. In Fire Emblem Heroes, Amelia can gain additional skills through Skill Inheritance, though these require the skills of other units, and thus cannot be considered part of her standard arsenal.

Wiz: Moving forward toward Grado in order to put a stop to the emperor’s madness, Ephraim’s army would encounter and save General Duessel from his fellow general, Selena, reluctantly following the emperor’s command. With the legendary Great Knight of Grado by their side, Ephraim’s army was bolstered further, but for Amelia, this was a chance to meet the man she’d looked up to all her life. Although undergoing a crisis of loyalty with the emperor, Duessel took the young Amelia under his wing, teaching and training her like she was his own daughter. Under his mentorship, her skills with all kinds of weapons would improve by leaps and bounds.

Boomstick: She’d become extremely proficient with swords and axes, but her skills with a lance were second to none. Spears are deep weapons, but utilise simple movements. Easy to learn, but tough to perfect. For Amelia, they suited her height well and extended her reach. If used to their potential, they can have greater power than any sword, but Duessel suggested that she master swords, lances and axes. Not only does this mean that she can adapt to any situation with respective weapons, but enemies cannot take advantage of the Weapon Triangle and a weapon’s inherent strengths and weaknesses against her due to her versatility. In time, she’d become an unstoppable, multi-proficient force to be reckoned with.

Wiz: But there another reason why Duessel took an interest in Amelia. For whatever reason, she seemed immensely familiar to the general, and it took a while, but he eventually figured out why. A few years back, he had been leading a patrol near the Grado border and came across a group of bandits, swiftly defeating them all. From them, he rescued a female captive who was still in shock. Her distress was so great that parts of her memory were fading, and she was so sick that she could barely walk. They’d set up a home for her in a peaceful village where she could recover and live quietly, and a couple years later, she was restored to her former vitality, recalling her memories one by one.

Boomstick: Eventually, she remembered that her name was Melina, and she had a daughter. Duessel visited Silva in hopes of finding her, but Amelia had left a while back to join the Grado army. He searched, but without any direction to find her, he’d nearly given up hope. Yet, here of all places, he’d finally found her. Sharing a tearful moment with the young girl, it meant everything to her to know that her mother was alive and well after all this time. Though the war was still ongoing, the two made plans once the war was over to finally reunite with her, and neither could be happier.

Popup: Besides Franz and Duessel, Amelia would also gain supports with Neimi, Ross and Ewan. Neimi would become an extremely close friend who she could always turn to, Ross would become like a brother figure to her, and Ewan showed her how to have fun in any situation. Although the number of supports in Sacred Stones a unit can have is limited by gameplay, these events are supported by her appearance in Fire Emblem Heroes, and can thus be mostly considered canon.

Wiz: With the emotional closure and mentorship from Duessel, as well as support from Neimi, Amelia was able to cross that final bridge in her relationship with Franz. They confessed to each other, wishing to walk down the same path alongside one another. He would be her sword to fight for her, and she would be his shield to protect him. After all they’d been through, neither would be alone again, and she sealed it with a kiss. From rivals, to best friends, to lovers, the two had come a long way. Though conflict was still raging, they vowed to do everything in their power to ensure a long, happy life with each other.

Boomstick: Which included becoming as strong as possible. Physical strength aside, Amelia would take up many weapons across her journey, from Iron, Steel and Silver Lances, to Brave Lances, which allow her to attack twice as often, and Toxin Lances, which inflict poison on contact. Javelins, Spears and Short Spears all allow her to strike at range, and the Killer Lance increases her chance to deal Critical Hits for three times the damage. Horseslayers deal increased damage to cavalry, Heavy Spears do so for armoured foes, and Dragonspears do the same against draconic foes. She’s even got Axereavers, which reverse the Weapon Triangle and deal super effective damage to axe-wielding opponents.

Wiz: Likewise, Amelia would pick up Iron, Steel and Silver Swords and Blades, Poison Swords, Brave Swords and Killing Edges, which act the same as their lance counterparts. Similarly, her Zanbato, Armourslayer, Wyrmslayer and Lancereaver blades target the same targets as her lances of the same make, but Amelia does carry entirely unique swords of her own. For instance, her Light Brand, which attacks with Light Magic, and can do so at range, or her Wind Sword, which does the same, but with Wind Magic, and deals increased damage to airborne targets. She’s even got a Runesword, which uses the magic of Nosferatu to heal her equal to the amount of damage dealt to her target.

Boomstick: And it’s the same with Axes. Amelia’s got the standard Iron, Steel and Silver ones, plus the Brave, Poison and Killer Axes. The Halberd, Hammer and Dragon Axe target cavalry, armoured foes and dragons, respectively, and her Swordreaver swaps the Weapon Triangle into her favour. She even has an upgraded version of it named the Swordslayer, and the hefty, but powerful Battle Axe. Amelia’s Hand Axes and Tomahawk also attack at range, and she picked up the Slaying Axe, which accelerates her ability to use Sacred Cowl. She’d even refine this into the Grado Poleax, which boosts her Health, Attack, Defence, Speed and Resistance, and can only be wielded by her.

Popup: In Eirika’s Route, Amelia is normally recruited in Port Kiris of Carcino during Chapter 9, but if she is not recruited or killed during the fight, she will reappear in Hamill Canyon of Jehanna in Chapter 13. Assuming she is with Eirika’s forces for the maximum amount of time, Amelia would have experienced the revolt at Carcino, the monster skirmishes in Caer Pelyn, the defence of Hamil Canyon, and the battle of Jehanna Hall.

Wiz: With all this, Amelia more than proved herself on the battlefield, quickly becoming one of the most valuable units in Ephraim’s army. She’d fight on equal footing with both Duessel and the prince himself, conquering the crew of the Phantom Ship, handling the trap laid by Grado’s army at Taizel and defeating Selena’s forces at the Za'albul Marsh, no matter how much they all wished the conflict to be avoided. And the general known as the Fluorspar was far from a pushover. With the power of her lightning magic, Bolting, she could call down lightning from across the battlefield, striking foes without any hope of retaliation. And it’s natural lightning too, which means it would have to be moving 33.3% the speed of light.

Boomstick: Even low-end calculations would require anybody able to avoid it to be moving at over Mach 223.63, including heavily armoured or mounted units like Amelia. And its power is consistently on the same level as the fellow long-range elemental spell, Meteor. Given the size of the spell, and the speed at which it moves, we can deduce that it would be striking with a force of over 15.64 Kilotons of TNT! Naturally, it’s more powerful than the spell Bolganone, which causes lava to erupt with a force of 531.682 Tons of TNT, and Selena’s Bolting should definitely be comparable to that of the Rexbolt spell, which calls down lightning with an energy worth 1.39 Megatons of TNT.

Wiz: That’s the kind of power that Grado’s Imperial Three command. Though unfortunately, Selena could not be convinced to betray her loyalty to the emperor, even after seeing his corruptive change, and the evidence stacked against him. With the Fluorspar defeated, Ephraim’s army was ready to move upon Grado’s capital, taking the fight straight to Vigarde himself. Even though the emperor was merely a puppet commanded by Lyon, his might was no less formidable, and it took everything the army had to overcome his forced. Though eventually, he did indeed fall. For Amelia, having to go up against two of the people she once looked up to more than any others in the world was doubtless a difficult experience, but with her friends and loved ones by her side, she was able to get through it.

Boomstick: While Ephraim had a… rough reunion with Lyon afterwards, goaded into anger by his friend’s descent into evil and the horrors he’d caused, they were able to rescue the magician and researcher Knoll from his unjust impending execution. Learning of what truly went down over a year ago; how Vigarde passed from sickness, Lyon experimented with the Fire Emblem to bring him back to life, his creation of the Dark Stone, as well as the shattering of Grado’s Sacred Stone and their subsequent war to revive the Demon King, it was a harrowing moment for everyone to learn what had become of the once-kind prince and emperor. Yet from this tragedy, they could take some good.

Popup: In the trading card game Fire Emblem 0 (Cipher), Amelia possesses several unique skills of her own. Determined Lanceplay grants Amelia a +10 to her attack, Polished Armour prevents her being stuck by critical hits, and Armour Expertise provides an additional +20 to her attack if she is being attacked. Although not directly useful in one-on-one combat, the skill Admiration for the General allows Amelia to move any allied unit in heavy armour that she wishes.

Wiz: Firstly, the defeat of Vigarde granted Amelia access to a Knight’s Crest, which allowed for her promotion into her final class. As a Knight, she could promote into a General or a Great Knight, and as a Cavalier, she likewise received the ability to become a Great Knight, or she could alternatively choose to become a Paladin. No matter which class she chose, her stats all increased dramatically and she became able to wield the most powerful weapons across all of Magvel. Furthermore, as a General or Great Knight, Amelia gains access to the usage of Axes, which she was unable to wield in battle as a Knight or Cavalier, complimenting her mastery of the Weapon Triangle under Duessel.

Boomstick: As a General, Amelia’s defensive capabilities are insane! Her armour is massive and bulky, requiring great strength to move around as fluidly as she does in it. She also comes to learn the hidden skill of Generals; Great Shield. It has a 20% chance of activating on any hit, completely nullifying enemy attacks. Not only that, but all her weapons are attached at the handle by a chain that wraps around it. The end of which is connected to her gauntlets, meaning she can recall these weapons and whip them around with complete control. I mean, have you seen her dexterity with these things? She can spin around and throw massive weapons larger than entire people like it’s nothing!

Wiz: As a Great Knight, Amelia gained the heavy armour and high defence of knights while retaining a mount for greater movement and constitution, following in the footsteps of her mentor Duessel. She also gained a large, sturdy shield for defence, as well as armour plating to protect her horse, and this is mirrored in the Paladin class as well. Though as a Paladin, Amelia gains even greater movement, as well as increased weapon proficiency and some lovely long hair to compliment her new outfit. But perhaps the most beneficial items the army received were Grado’s Sacred Twin weapons, the Dark Tome, Gleipnir, and the Black Axe, Garm.

Boomstick: Weapons once wielded by the hero Grado himself, you need to be the best of the best at what you do in order to even hope of using them. Thankfully for Amelia, her skills in all physical weapon types made her perfectly suited to wield Garm. It passively increases her speed by +5 whenever she’s in combat, and deals super effective damage against monster enemies; perfect against the armies of the Demon King. Unfortunately, dire news had just come from Jehanna. Eirika and Prince Innes of Frelia were under attack by Valter and Caellach, two of Grado’s new generals, and with no time to lose, they all set out for Jehanna to save everyone.

Popup: Amelia appears in Fire Emblem Engage as a Bond Ring, an equippable ring which houses her power. They’re similar in function to Emblem Rings, which house copies of the spirits of Fire Emblem characters across the series’ history. Amelia grants HP +5, Strength +1 and Luck +1 to whoever has her ring equipped.

Wiz: Although Ephraim’s army arrived in time to save Eirika and her forces, Queen Ismaire of Jehanna had already been killed, and the country’s Sacred Stone was shattered by Caellach. Joining back up with the princess of Renais, the two forces worked together to defeat those led by Caellach and Valter, despite the less-than-ideal odds. Even in the rough sands of Jehanna, which was actively inhibiting her movement, Amelia proved herself in this battle as well, especially with the new abilities her classes provided her. Though up against foes with several years more experience than herself, Amelia still emerged victorious and put the Moonstone and Tiger Eye to rout alongside their forces.

Boomstick: With the Renais twins reunited, Amelia had a few new friends to make with Eirika’s party, and afterwards, they gained access to the Sacred Twins of Jehanna, the Wind Tome, Excalibur, and the Ice Blade, Audhulma, which Amelia can wield. Like with Garm, you need to be an expert in the field to wield it, and it’s super effective against monsters. When in combat, it also grants a passive +5 to her Resistance, or ability to take magic damage. So, with these weapons in hand, the army marched to Castle Renais to take it back from the mad and traitorous knight, Orson. With their country saved from his misrule, Ephraim could begin to lead it as the king his people needed, but first they needed to defeat the Demon King.

Wiz: Securing Renais’ Sacred Stone, they made their way to Rausten guided by L’Arachel, its hilarious and energetic princess. Though on the way, they’d come into conflict with Lyon. Protecting everyone they could at the banks of the Narube River, Grado’s prince would goad Ephraim into anger, pretending to be under control of the Demon King in order to gain access to Renais’ Sacred Stone, and absolve Ephraim of his guilt when the time came for Ephraim to kill him. Thankfully, with the help of Syrene, everyone was able to be saved, and with Innes’ forward thinking, the army was also able to gain access to Frelia’s Sacred Twin treasures, and of the two, Amelia is able to wield the Winged Lance, Vidofnir.

Boomstick: As with Garm and Audhulma, you need maximum proficiency to wield it, and it’s super effective against monsters. In battle, it grants the wielder a passive +5 boost to their defence, so it just makes Amelia even more of a tank than she already is! Still, the chase for Lyon led the army to Mt. Neleras within Rausten’s Darkling Woods, a volcano brimming with Gorgon monsters. Despite the trap, the army was able to clear out all the monsters, but Lyon trapped Ephraim with his magic, immobilising him as he stole and shattered Renais’ Sacred Stone. So, that only left the group with one option left; getting Rausten’s Sacred Stone in order to seal the Demon King.

Popup: Despite an extended period of exposure to the harsh climate of Mt. Neleras, Amelia was ultimately unaffected. Even in heavy armour, she was able to withstand the scorching volcano, and could shrug off direct attacks from fire and lava. This is consistent with her ability to survive elemental magic attacks of extreme temperatures without harm.

Wiz: Arriving in Rausten Court, the army would rest until the night where L’Arachel’s uncle, Pontifex Mansel, would come under attack by Riev, the last of Grado’s generals. The army was able to prevent them from reaching the Sacred Stone, and with his life saved, and sacred treasures protected, Mansel gifted them to the army, giving them everything they needed to take the fight directly to the Demon King. Taking off towards the Darkling Woods, the location of his corpse, they’d arrive too late to save Morva from Lyon, turned into a Draco Zombie they regretfully had to put down. But with his passing, and the gratifying death of Riev, all that was left was Lyon and the Black Temple within.

Boomstick: And if you thought zombified dragons were tough, Lyon is a whole ‘nother beast! In command of an entire legion of monsters, and with the power of the Demon King, he’s a force to be reckoned with. Even with her weapons and armour, it’s still a tough battle for Amelia, and very fairly so! Lyon is fast enough to dodge light magic like Aura and Ivaldi, and has the power of Fomortiis, who was foresaw to cause an earthquake that would utterly destroy the entire country of Grado. Not even Renais, and possibly even Frelia would be safe from the devastation, and Frelia is on the opposite end of Magvel! At minimum, that’d require over 9.3 Teratons of TNT to accomplish!

Wiz: Though Amelia and the rest of the united army were ultimately able to defeat Lyon, they still had the Demon King Fomortiis himself to deal with. A monster who threatened the very planet itself, even one as large as he can move faster than light, and Amelia can too, dodging his Demon Light. And after a hard-fought battle, his body was eventually destroyed and his soul sealed within the Sacred Stone of Rausten, ending the threat of the Demon King forever more. Yet, with his last moments, Fomortiis set off the earthquake that Lyon sought so desperately to prevent. Cities crumbled, fields turned to ash, and the death toll was immense, but as the new king of Renais, Ephraim did everything he could to help the people of Grado.

Boomstick: With the war now finally over and Magvel safe from the Demon King, the allied army now set out to rebuild. Amelia would help out with the restoration in Grado alongside many members of the army, and those willing to lend a hand. Continually making new friendships, the strength she’d accrued over the course of her journey helped immensely, mending the lives of others and bringing herself happiness. Though with Grado on the road to recovery, Amelia still had promises of her own to fulfill. Travelling alongside Duessel as his companion, she’d continue to train and improve her skills, learning everything she could from the legendary general.

Popup: After the main story of Sacred Stones, the Creature Campaign is unlocked, where the army travels across Magvel defeating the remaining monsters of Fomortiis’ forces. During this time, Amelia would gain experience fighting in every area and biome of Magvel, and was instrumental in clearing out all of the Tower of Valni in Frelia, the Lagdou Ruins in Jehanna, and the Melkaen Coast in Rausten, all of which contained the strongest monsters fought to date.

Wiz: Travelling together, the two would make their way to the town where Melina now lived, finally reuniting the mother and daughter after so long and so many tears. A beautiful, heart-warming years in the making, it was all possible thanks to Duessel, and the two couldn’t be more grateful. They’d spend ages catching up, making up for all the lost time, and though Amelia still had journeys left out in the world, she’d come back often, always making sure her mother was well, happy and healthy.

Boomstick: Eventually, Amelia would move on from her mentorship with Duessel, still friends with the general and keeping in contact often. In time, she would move to Renais with Franz, doing all the adorable couple stuff that you do. Together, they’d both serve in Renais’ army, but in a time of peace, there was far less combat, thankfully. As the two made the next step in their lives, Amelia would retire her commission as a knight and become a wife and she and Franz were happily married. From the best of friends to loving partners, there was nothing they couldn’t accomplish. It’s so adorable!

Wiz: Together, they would become parents to an adorable baby girl, raising her with love and support, being able to provide the happy life for their daughter that they never got to fully experience themselves. As she grew, she’d become a knight of Renais herself, taking after her parents, and being trained by them as well, passing on their skills and knowledge to keep their baby girl safe. Though she’d become renowned for her service, the happiness she brought to her parents’ lives was more than could ever be measured.

Boomstick: Despite all of the pain and suffering Amelia had been through in her life, she was able to make a life for herself that not only makes her happy, but one that she can be proud of. With the strength to protect her loved ones, she’d never feel helpless again, and if she puts her mind to it, there’s no limit to the things she can do. From humble beginnings, the Rose of the War has truly bloomed into the amazing woman she was always meant to be, and we couldn’t be more proud.

Amelia: I'll be fine, Franz. But thank you, though. It was wrong of Grado to invade Renais. Nothing can justify it. Grado has no right to destroy whole nations, ruin people's lives. This is all so... so wrong! I began this war as a soldier in Grado's armies. But now... I just want to believe... I want to believe in justice! I want to know I'm doing the right thing!

Wiz: Welcome to the world of Remnant. A dangerous and hostile planet where the malevolent and monstrous creatures of darkness known as the Grimm prey upon humanity, who maintain the struggle to fight back and retain their freedom. Though the early history of Remnant has been long forgotten by humanity, recollections have been passed down in the form of myths and legends. In truth, the planet and all the creatures in it were created by two brother gods; the God of Light and the God of Darkness. The two were feuding over their creations, and sought to prove their own superior to that of the other.

Boomstick: In order to bridge their differences and end their fighting, they created humanity together as beings of free will, able to choose between light or darkness. And everything was all hunky-dory for a while until this girl named Salem confronted the gods and demanded that they bring her lover, Ozma back to life. The God of Light refused her outright, and when denied by him, she went to the God of Darkness, who was down for it, but went back once he found out she’d already gone to his brother first. Classic move of pitting the parents against each other to get what you want.

Wiz: But the Brothers stood with each other, and resolutely denied her. Trying to force the issue, she was cursed with immortality, and when she rallied the kingdoms to try and overthrow the Gods, they were all wiped out except for her. Leaving the planet, the God of Darkness shattered the moon in his wake, with the world a mere remnant of what it once was. Stranded alone in a desolate world, Salem attempted suicide in the black pools of the Land of Darkness, but was instead transformed into a Grimm-like being herself, bent only on destruction.

Boomstick: Yet humanity still lived on, if not by a razor’s edge. The Grimm remained and sought to destroy everything they could, as was their nature, and in their darkest hour, the surviving humans found Dust. A crystalline energy source, it comes in many different forms, and was the deciding factor in humanity’s survival, leading to them pushing back the Grimm. This wasn’t the only thing on their side however. Before he left, the God of Light bestowed a few gifts upon humanity. The first gift was a set of four Relics. Should someone bring each Relic together, the Brothers will return and judge Humanity on their ability to live in peace… and probably wipe them out if not, but if they can, then everyone gets magic! …Probably.

Popup: For this analysis, the RWBY web series will be the primary focus, including canon material such as RWBY: Grimm Eclipse, RWBY: Arrowfell, RWBY: Amity Arena and the various novels. RWBY Chibi, RWBY VTubing, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, and the RWBY x Justice League crossover comic are not being included due to being explicitly non-canonical. Shaft’s RWBY: Ice Queendom anime, the Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen movies, RWBY: The Grimm Campaign, and the various RWBY mangas are generally considered ‘semi-canon’ or ‘canon-adjacent’, and will thus be considered in areas which do not contradict the primary canon.

Wiz: Salem sought these Relics for her own, but a far more pressing issue was the existence of the God of Light’s second gift. To a few select individuals, he bestowed upon them Silver Eyes. In moments of strong emotion, and with the goal of preserving life, warriors with Silver Eyes can activate with the ability to strike down Grimm with a single glance. With lineages of these Silver-Eyed Warriors, Salem sought to wipe them out as they threatened her goals, but a few were able to slip through the cracks. Most went into hiding, and with the eventual rise of the Kingdoms of Vale, Mistral, Vacuo and Mantle, later the Kingdom of Atlas, the legendary warriors became almost mythic; extremely rare to find and always destined for combat.

Boomstick: Though there was one exceptional Silver-Eyed Warrior who was turning heads. The leader of Team STRQ and one of Beacon Academy’s finest Huntresses, Summer Rose. Together with Taiyang Xiao Long and Raven and Qrow Branwen, they were Beacon’s golden group, raising some trouble but exceptional warriors all the same. A close-knit group that looked like it would last forever, Taiyang and Raven eventually got together after graduating, moved to the peaceful island of Patch in Vale’s countryside and had a daughter, Yang Xiao Long. Unfortunately though, this wouldn’t last. Raven’s insecurities over being a mother and her knowledge of the threat Salem posed ended up driving Team STRQ apart, and her running back to lead her bandit tribe.

Wiz: With Taiyang left to take care of Yang alone, he and Summer would start to get closer, falling in love with each other and having a daughter of their own, Ruby Rose. Though Summer loved Yang just as much, being an amazing “super mom” to the both of them, as Yang put it. She made the best cookies, was always there for them, and would read them stories as they went to sleep. Along with Summer and the rest of Team STRQ’s impressive history as a Huntsmen, heroic warriors who save people and fight the creatures of Grimm, the heroes in these fairy tales inspired the two sisters to one day become Huntsmen themselves. Dreams which they’d one day make manifest.

Boomstick: But one thing was standing in the way of Summer’s kids achieving their dream, and that was Salem. Sneaking out with Raven to confront Salem on a mission, it would unfortunately be Summer’s last, as the young mother disappeared shortly after, despite her intention to return home. Officially, she’s believed to be dead, but only time will tell if she actually survived. Regardless, the loss of Summer fractured both Team STRQ and her family even further, with the kids especially not handling it well. With both his partners gone and two young children to look after, Taiyang took up a teaching position at Signal Academy, and Qrow did as well, helping out the family wherever he could.

Popup: Shortly after Summer's disappearance, Yang brought Ruby with her to an abandoned building in order to find clues about the whereabouts of Yang's mother, Raven. During the search, they were almost killed by Beowolves but were saved by their uncle Qrow, which only fuelled Ruby's desire to become a Huntress.

Wiz: Eventually, Yang and Ruby both enrolled at Signal Academy, with Yang adopting the bare-knuckle brawling fighting style of their father, while Ruby took after their uncle and became a skilled scytheman in her own right. While both received direct tutelage from their respective mentors, the best part of Signal Academy was that each student was required to craft their own weapon from scratch. Naturally, Ruby based her design off of her uncle’s own scythe, Harbinger, and, as is tradition with almost every weapon in this world, it is also a gun. It took a decent while to plan and forge, but Ruby was eventually able to create her henceforth signature weapon, the High-Caliber Sniper-Scythe Crescent Rose.

Boomstick: Let me tell you, this baby is a marvel of technology and craftsmanship! It’s a hybrid between a scythe, a bolt-action sniper rifle, and a war scythe, with a converting frame that lets it transform between three different modes like a handheld Cybertronian. Just, y’know, without the Spark. Still, it’s got an easy-to-carry storage mode, rifle mode, which transforms it into medium-length, straight-pull bolt-action sniper rifle without the blade component, and the actual scythe mode, which fully extends the weapon. Useful in close to medium range combat, the form can also double a long-barrel sniper rifle for long range shots without giving up the melee capabilities of the scythe.

Wiz: Additionally, Crescent Rose also has a small, hook-like, double-pronged, jagged blade at the bottom of the shaft which Ruby can unfold to add more cutting power to her swings. It changes Crescent Rose to be more war-scythe like and rotates the muzzle 90 degrees, which you might think would be detrimental because of the massive recoil, but Ruby actually uses it to her advantage. Instead of compensating for it, Ruby harnesses the recoil to enhance her mobility in combat, firing shots to propel herself short distances, simultaneously attacking and evading opponents. She can even use it to launch herself into the air or spin herself around in the war-scythe form to drastically increase her slicing power.

Boomstick: She made a weapon as complex and detailed as this at… what, thirteen or so years old? Man, I’ve really gotta step up my game. Especially since not only does Crescent Rose fire regular ammunition, but it can utilise specialised magazines of Dust ammunition for super cool elemental effects! Ruby usually carries magazines of Fire, Ice, Lightning and Gravity Dust, which allow her to augment her attacks with these respective affinities, and the Gravity Dust can even increase the recoil from her shots, propelling her even faster. It’s no wonder that with her already massive obsession with weapons, Ruby would become a master utilising Crescent Rose to its utmost.

Popup: Despite having a bolt-action rifle form, during the battle against Roman Torchwick on the Vale highway, Crescent Rose was briefly shown to have semi-automatic firing capabilities. During Ruby’s time in Atlas, it was also upgraded by Pietro Polendina, allowing Ruby to fully rotate the blade head around. Additionally, while in Weiss Schnee’s Dreamscape in the Ice Queendom anime, Crescent Rose underwent a design change, with the sniper mode being shifted to the end of the hilt and it gaining an entirely new snowboard mode.

Wiz: Mastery that would come in handy one day when a group of thugs attempted to rob her, and the store she was in. Naturally, as a huntress-in-training, Ruby couldn’t let that slide, so she promptly sprang into action, taking out the thugs and facing off against their leader, the endlessly charismatic master criminal Roman Torchwick. Unfortunately for Little Red, he had backup, and things were looking bad, but Ruby was saved by the timely intervention of a professional Huntress, Professor Glynda Goodwitch of Beacon Academy. Though the criminals were able to escape, Ruby was over the moon to meet a real-life Huntress. Although scolded for her reckless behaviour, the headmaster of Beacon Academy, Professor Ozpin, was rather curious about her.

Boomstick: Our cookie-loving monster-slayer definitely impressed the headmaster, and after learning more about her dreams, values, and noticing her distinct Silver Eyes, Ozpin made the executive decision to accept Ruby into Beacon Academy two years early. Though extremely happy about it, Ruby felt rather out of place with the rest of her classmates and sister. She was two years younger and still a bit naïve, but determined to make the most of the opportunity she was given. Things didn’t start out great though. Ruby may or may not have accidentally nearly blown up the to-be heiress of the Schnee Dust Company, Weiss Schnee, after a less than stellar first meeting.

Wiz: A bit uptight given her upbringing, Weiss didn’t take kindly to Ruby falling onto her luggage trolley, and berating her while shaking Dust into the air certainly didn’t help things. With that much volatile Dust, a sneeze would be enough to enough to detonate it, which did happen, very humorously. A rather cold reception for their first impression, but Ruby would be helped up by the kind Jaune Arc, who she previously saw being sick on the airship carrying them to Beacon. Despite a few rocky moments, like exchanging equally unflattering nicknames, the two struck up a close friendship. And for both Vomit Boy and Crater Face, it’d be one which would stick with them for life.

Boomstick: Ahh, two socially awkward dorks making their way through life. Tale as old as time. But with a few words from Ozpin and the Beacon Academy Initiation ahead of them, things were looking bright. Though said initiation also involved launching all the kids off of a cliff into a forest to find a buddy and recover relic pieces, which is all sorts of dangerous and has surely got to violate some sort of code. Definitely not helped by all the Grimm lurking in the area, either. Luckily, the students have ways to protect themselves. They’ve got their weapons, obviously, but each person in Remnant also has access to their Aura; the manifestation of their soul.

Popup: One's Aura can be used to 'unlock' the Aura of someone else; as shown by Pyrrha Nikos, who unlocked Jaune's Aura during the Beacon Academy Initiation. It appears to take a toll on the user, however. When unlocking Jaune's Aura, Pyrrha recited a chant, though this chant is a religious ritual Pyrrha personally believed in, and it is not necessary to unlock one’s Aura. As confirmed by one of the leading series writers, Miles Luna, anyone who is strongly attuned with their soul can do the job. As such, Ruby should be capable of this too.

Wiz: While every form of life with a soul has Aura, even animals, only people are able to consciously activate and use it. Normally, one’s Aura acts like an invisible shield around the body, protecting them from harm, but this requires training to maintain. Skilled enough users are even able to form their Aura into small shields to block attacks, can send it out as a wave of force, and use weapons as conduits through which their Aura can be channelled. Not only that, but Aura is required in order to trigger the activation of Dust, and is capable of mending minor wounds rather quickly, able to heal injuries like small cuts or a black eye without leaving a trace.

Boomstick: Aura does a lot of other cool things too! Like enhancing your senses, protecting you from extreme climates and generally increasing your strength to levels beyond that of a regular human, but the best ability allowed by Aura is called a Semblance. Noted as a tangible projection of one’s Aura, Semblances are pretty much a personal super power tailored exclusively to you, kinda like the X-Men! The way each one is unlocked will vary from person to person, but it’s usually brought about in moments of strong physical or emotional stress… also like the X-Men. Thankfully, Ruby was one of the lucky ones and simply unlocked hers during training.

Wiz: Officially named Petal Burst, Ruby’s Semblance allows her to move at superhuman speeds, leaving behind a trail of rose petals. She’s able to pick up and carry people with her while using her Semblance, and given enough momentum, Ruby can even create powerful tailwinds with it. Though it is fuelled by Ruby’s Aura, and Aura is a finite source. It protects the user during combat, but doing so weakens and drains one’s Aura, and if it takes enough damage, it will break. If this happens, all the abilities that come from a Hunstman’s Aura will be inaccessible, especially their Semblance, so it’s of utmost importance to always be mindful of their Aura levels during combat.

Boomstick: A broken Aura also takes a substantial amount of time to recharge, so if it’s ever broken in battle, then any Huntsman, in-training or otherwise, needs to be able to handle themselves well without it, or retreat. Ruby hasn’t had her Aura broken before, but understands full well the severity of the situation should it happen to her. Still, she was more than capable of handling the Grimm in the Emerald Forest without any trouble, but the real problems started when she and Weiss made eye contact. See, Beacon’s partner formation system works on Pokémon rules; the first person you make eye contact with during Initiation is your partner for the whole four years.

Popup: In the RWBY manga adaptation by Shirow Miwa, it is revealed that Ruby originally had Enochlophobia, a fear of large crowds, as shown when she froze up during a sparring match against Cardin Winchester. However, she managed to work through her fear with encouragement from her teammates long enough to win the spar, and by the Vytal Festival, she had overcome it entirely.

Wiz: At first, neither were particularly thrilled with the arrangement, but, over time, they’d grow to respect each other. They could work together against the Grimm just fine, and respected each other’s skills, but forming a friendship would take a lot more work. Something they’d have to do later, as first a giant Nevermore was hot on their tails. Escaping it would lead both girls to Yang and her partner, Blake, at the temple which held their relics, as well as Jaune and his partner, Pyrrha, and the dynamic duo of Nora and Ren, who were in a similar predicament against a Death Stalker. Collecting their pieces, Ruby and Jaune would guide their groups of four against the Grimm, with Ruby leading the fight against the Nevermore.

Boomstick: And in one of the coolest team fight sequences ever, Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang were eventually able to fell the mighty beast. Though for a monster as big and dangerous as it was, they needed a calculated strategy to take it down, which Ruby pioneered on the spot after briefly analysing her fellow Huntresses and their abilities. For only 15 years old, she’s showcased expert combat awareness and intelligence beyond that of her peers, and, after returning to Beacon victorious with Jaune’s group, it was for that reason Ruby was chosen as the leader of her four-person team alongside Weiss, Blake and Yang; Team RWBY. Aww yeah, title drop!

Wiz: Much like her mother before her, Ruby would lead her team, getting closer to each of its members as the once-frosty relationship with Weiss grew into a close friendship. Alongside Ruby and Team RWBY, Jaune would become the leader of Team JNPR with Nora, Pyrrha and Ren, and the two teams would become inseparable. Over time, Ruby would come to grow into her role as a capable leader with her teammates and friends there to support her, and the same is true for Jaune, but within Team RWBY, there was trouble brewing right beneath the surface. Roman Torchwick was making moves gathering Dust, and had allied himself with the White Fang in order to do so.

Boomstick: An activist organisation for Faunus rights which turned to more radical and violent methods under the new leadership of Sienna Khan. Oh, yeah, Faunus are basically half-human, half-animal people, and are generally discriminated against, like the Mutants in Marvel. I’m starting to notice a pattern here… But anyway, they were working with Roman to round up a whole bunch of dust, and that was raising alarms. Especially in the B of Team RWBY, given that Blake was, surprise, surprise, a Faunus herself! And not just that, but a former member of the White Fang, and the daughter of its previous leader, Ghira Belladonna. So you can imagine she was down with the cause from the get-go.

Popup: Upon enrolling at Beacon Academy, and once again after becoming a fully licenced Huntress in Atlas, Ruby received a Scroll. It functions as a collapsible holographic tablet and can be used as a phone, portable computer, camera, streaming device, gaming controller, flashlight, and has many other functions. During combat, it is able to gauge a user's Aura and depict it as a life bar, along with those of the user's teammates. At Beacon, it could also be used to control and direct Ruby's weapon locker, calling it to her, or sending it someplace else.

Wiz: But the White Fang’s goals and modus operandi didn’t fit the recent spree of break-ins and robberies. They targeted the Schnee Dust Company because of their enslavement and abuse of Faunus workers, but random innocent shopkeepers? That just didn’t make sense, and Blade was dead-set on getting to the bottom of it. Alone, if she had to, given that the reveal of her past and true nature caused a rift in the team. Still, Ruby, Weiss and Yang wanted to help her, Vale as a whole, and make their team right again, so they too become involved in tracking down Roman and the White Fang, which would lead them to eventually uncover a far grander scheme than they could’ve ever possibly imagined.

Boomstick: In pursuit of that knowledge, Team RWBY fought against Roman and his forces at the docks, their own bases, across a highway and even in the abandoned city of Mountain Glenn, all while balancing school and their social lives. They’d make new friends in Sun Wukong, Neptune Vasilias and Penny Polendina, have a food fight that tore up the dining hall, and both planned and attended the Beacon Dance, where Team JNPR busted out some impeccably choreographed dance moves. I mean, just look at them go! But the dance was also the perfect timing for Cinder Fall, the one controlling both Roman and the White Fang, to execute the next step of her plan.

Wiz: Uploading a virus to the Cross Continental Transmit System Tower, Cinder gained access to both Vale and Atlas’ security systems and would lay in wait for the perfect time to strike as the rest of her plans fell into place. Although Ruby was able to intercept Cinder right after she placed the virus, she wasn’t able to remove it or prevent Cinder’s escape unfortunately, in part due to coming straight from the Beacon Dance in high heels. Fighting in those is no small task. Still, Ruby and the rest of her team were able to prevent the worst of the White Fang’s subsequent train breach into Vale, taking out numerous Grimm along the way, but the worst still loomed ahead.

Boomstick: Team RWBY was down on information and had no idea what the White Fang and Cinder’s next move would be, so they got busy training. With the upcoming Vytal Festival Tournament, they’d need to be at the top of their game. Team RWBY made it through the first few rounds without too much difficulty, though as the final solo rounds approached, Yang was chosen to fight. Up against one of Cinder’s undercover agents, Mercury Black, he threw the fight at the last moment and Emerald, his partner, used her Semblance to make Yang hallucinate that Mercury was attacking her, framing her and causing a massive uproar of negative emotions, which slowly began to attract the Grimm.

Popup: Although reasonably intelligent academically, Ruby is a gifted prodigy when it comes to combat and weapons, the latter of which she utterly adores. She designed and built Crescent Rose from scratch during her time at Signal Academy, and is able to name every single part of her weapon. Ruby has also been able to analyse weapons she’s never seen before down to the function and material it’s made of by just looking at it once, even when suffering from severe stage fright.

Wiz: Even worse was when Cinder set the final pieces of her plan into motion. Setting Pyrrha Nikos, whose Semblance allowed her to control polarity, up against Penny Polendina, who was in truth an android, you can imagine how that went. With Emerald’s Semblance, Pyrrha was manipulated into killing Penny while Cinder broadcast it live for the world to see. Concurrently, the White Fang made their attack on Beacon Academy as Cinder caused city-wide panic and set loose Atlas’ military robot peacekeepers on the public, drawing in an absurd amount of Grimm with all the fear, anger and chaos. From this point on, it was only a matter of time until Beacon Academy fell.

Boomstick: But it wouldn’t go down without a fight. And neither would Team RWBY, choosing to stay and fight off the threats to their school. With Roman Torchwick having taken over Atlas’ main airship and reprogrammed the robots to cause havoc, alongside General Ironwood crashing out of the sky en route to stop him, Ruby set off on her rocket locker to reach Roman and put an end to this. To her credit, she put up a valiant fight, but against the gentleman thief, she was simply outclassed. To speak nothing of the fact that Roman’s partner in love and crime, Neopolitan, was fighting alongside him.

Wiz: She held them off for a while, but it was a losing battle. Eventually able to take Neo by surprise and open up her umbrella to the powerful winds, she drifted away off the airship, leaving just Ruby and Roman. Even still, little Red was naïve. She didn’t see the “real” world and still clung onto ideals of heroism that could not stand up against the truth of reality. Tragically, Roman would meet an abrupt, and quite frankly unsatisfying end to a Grimm, leaving the airship with no one in control and it set to crash, so Ruby had to get out of there, fast. All while this was happening, Adam Taurus was leading the White Fang against Beacon, and the awakening of the Grimm Wyvern had begun.

Boomstick: A gigantic monster, it burst forth from a mountain outside Mountain Glenn, shattering the mountain top with a force of nearly 2.3 Kilotons of TNT! Simultaneously, it caused a massive earthquake that was felt all the way back in Vale and Beacon, over 18 kilometers away. It would take up to 12.55 Kilotons of TNT to accomplish such a feat, at minimum, and assuming a higher magnitude for the earthquake, could potentially reach up to 70.58 Kilotons of TNT! With it flying toward the academy, Blake fought back against her former mentor, but was soundly defeated, with Yang rushing in to assist. But her anger and brashness blinded her, and with one single slash, Adam cut through Yang’s Aura entirely, slicing off her arm and preparing to finish her off.

Popup: In the video game RWBY: Grimm Eclipse, Ruby has access to numerous skills, most of which can be upgraded. Her primary skills are Reap and Dust Blast, and her Ultimate skill is Crescendo; all of which are superior versions of her regular attacks. Ruby also possesses the unique abilities Team Player and Hyperballistic, which lets her reach her Ultimate faster, as well as the general abilities Survivor, Aura Regeneration, Increased Aura, Medic, Improved Ultimate 1 & 2, and Heavy Synergy, which provide various boons. Most important are the ability to survive more hits once Aura is depleted, and to recover Aura faster.

Wiz: Though Blake was able to distract Adam with her Semblance, escaping with Yang to regroup with the others. Impressive that she could even escape him in the first place, given Adam’s lightning-quick movements. He’s shown to be fast enough to react in time to being shot with a particle cannon from an Atlesian Spider Droid, and bring his sword up to block the attack. In order to execute a feat such as that, Adam would have to be moving at around 6.9% the speed of light, or over Mach 61,127, at minimum. Given higher estimations, Adam could possibly be moving up to 42.1% the speed of light, which is way faster than other feats performed by lesser Huntsmen and Huntresses.

Boomstick: Such as Blake herself, who was able to dodge the lightning of a Grimm Sea Feilong at over Mach 254 alongside her “totally not” boyfriend Sun Wukong. Likewise, the underlings of Cinder, Mercury Black and Emerald Sustrai, could evade the lightning of the Fall Maiden, Amber, at speeds of around Mach 382 and Mach 549, respectively. What’s the Fall Maiden, you ask? Excellent question! Though for that we’re gonna have to backtrack a little bit. So, remember Salem? Evil immortal witch lady who wanted to bring her husband back to life? Yeah, so, the God of Light ended up reviving him to set him up as guide for humanity. Kind of a dick move to do after you said you wouldn’t, especially since doing it in the first place would’ve prevented everything, but whatever.

Wiz: Though this revival would come in the form of a quasi-reincarnation. He would appear within the mind of another individual, and slowly begin to take them over until the body was completely his. Not even willingly! Again, yet another dick move from the Brothers. But he and Salem managed to find each other once again, starting a family with four daughters. He granted them each magic correlating to the seasons, and this would pass on after their deaths to go onto new hosts. In the current day, Amber was the Fall Maiden, and Ozpin was Ozma’s reincarnation. Cinder had ambushed and attacked Amber in order to steal her power for herself, and was nearly successful, leaving Amber in a critical condition.

Boomstick: Her body safeguarded at Beacon Academy, Cinder’s plan all revolved around tearing down the school to find her and claim that power for herself, all while weakening the world’s longest standing pillars of hope and stability. While Ozpin had planned to try and transfer Amber’s power to Pyrrha Nikos, his strongest student, Cinder was able to sneak into Beacon’s Vault behind them and assassinate Amber once and for all, taking all of the power for herself. Duelling against Ozpin, the Fall Maiden’s power would allow her to narrowly defeat the headmaster and call the Wyvern to Beacon Tower.

Popup: In the video game RWBY: Arrowfell, Ruby can utilise several optional items for health and Aura recovery. The Chocolate Bar and Yakisoba restore her health by slight and great amounts, respectively, while the Energy Boost Small restores half of her Aura, and the Energy Boost Large restores it fully. The Wonder Potion Small and Wonder Potion Large restore both her health and Aura simultaneously, to their respective extents. Lastly, the Revive Ring automatically restores Ruby and her allies to full health and Aura when brought to the brink of defeat.

Wiz: With little options left, Pyrrha set off to fight Cinder alone, despite her access to the full power of the Fall Maiden. Having missed the action at Beacon, Ruby arrived back from the airship barely too late to prevent Pyrrha from going off on her own, racing after her as fast as she could. Pyrrha put up a better fight than any other student possibly could’ve, and all but had Cinder on the ropes by the end of it, but Cinder was just too much, even for her. With the Wyvern crashing into Beacon Tower, Pyrrha was critically wounded by an arrow to the heel, living out her last moments before Cinder shot her through the chest, putting an end to the Invincible Girl with a scorching caress.

Boomstick: Right at the exact moment Ruby arrived at the top of the tower. Making it just in time to watch one of her best friends be murdered, yet powerless to do anything to stop it, and not fast enough to have prevented it. In those few seconds, Ruby snapped. With a scream, her Silver Eyes activated with a flash of blinding light, enveloping both Cinder and the Wyvern in a world of white. And the next thing Ruby knew, she was waking up back home in Patch. Having been rescued by Qrow alongside Yang, everything was just a mess. Yang was missing an arm, Weiss was taken back to Atlas, Blake ran away, the White Fang withdrew, Ozpin was missing, Cinder had fled, and Beacon was still overrun by Grimm.

Wiz: Though there was one positive, at least. Although Ruby wasn’t aware of the power her Silver Eyes held, she’d petrified the Wyvern atop Beacon. It was still technically alive and attracting Grimm to the school, but it could do nothing more. Ozpin’s right-hand lady and one of Beacon’s teachers, Glynda Goodwitch, took over as acting Headmistress of Beacon and was taking back Vale, setting up safe zones to protect those still in the city, though communications with the outside world were down thanks to the destruction of the CCT. Even with the world thrown into chaos, Ruby still wanted to take action, and with a hint from Qrow, set off to Haven Academy in Mistral alongside Jaune, Ren and Nora, forming Team RNJR as its leader.

Boomstick: Though they’d face troubles along the way. None of them were handling Pyrrha’s death well, least of all Jaune, and though they all were there for each other, Ruby especially for Jaune, it couldn’t bring Pyrrha back. All they could do was to keep her in their memories. To never forget her as they worked to bring down those responsible for her death and the fall of Beacon. Naturally, you’d think Ruby’s Silver Eyes would be a massive help here, but they’re a bit… finnicky. Firstly, it only works on, and in the presence of Grimm, meaning that anyone or anything else in the area will be completely fine. It can also be draining to use and is difficult to activate, as it requires either intense emotion or extreme focus, so it’s not always an instant win for Ruby.

Popup: During Volume 6, Ruby possessed the Relic of Knowledge for a sizeable amount of time, with which she could call upon the spirit within, Jinn, to answer any question she asked. Similarly, Ruby briefly possessed the Relic of Creation during the end of Volume 8, with which could call upon its spirit, Ambrosius, to create one any single thing she asked. Neither are considered standard parts of her arsenal, and she does not currently possess either Relic. Furthermore, all of Jinn’s answers for the current century have been used up.

Wiz: Additionally, given that it can only activate in dangerous circumstances against Grimm, it is hard to train, and Ruby has only utilised it a handful of times across the series. More experienced Silver-Eyed Warriors like Maria Calavera have been able to fully destroy Grimm with their Silver Eyes, while Ruby’s petrification of the Wyvern still left it technically alive, though that was her first usage of it, and she’s getting better. Furthermore, Ruby is heavily reliant on Crescent Rose during combat. If it’s damaged beyond use, or she’s disarmed of it, Ruby only has very minimal training and experience in hand-to-hand combat to fall back on. Her Semblance can help in this regard, but if her Aura is broken, then that’s off the table.

Boomstick: Yang’s helped train Ruby a bit, but it’s no secret that she definitely prefers to keep her opponents at range, whether through the distance required of a scythe, of that of a sniper rifle. Even so, Ruby’s managed to overcome incredible odds time and time again. She assisted her Uncle Qrow against the psychotic madman Tyrian Callows, cutting off his stinger, and helped to defeat the Nuckelavee Grimm of Kuroyuri. She led Team RNJR safely to Haven Academy, reuniting with Weiss, Blake and Yang as they fended off Salem’s forces, all grouping together with Qrow as they eventually made it to Atlas. Joining forces with General Ironwood, they’d find Penny rebuilt and better than ever, now the protector of Mantle!

Wiz: Alongside Ironwood’s forces and Weiss’ sister, Winter, they’d work to re-establish global communications, broadcasting the existence of Salem, the Maidens and the Relics to the general public as Atlas came under attack by Salem’s forces. Evacuating everyone to Vacuo as they fought them off, their message would see the world unify as one against Salem, even Yang’s mother Raven, and all because of the message Ruby was able to get out. Not to mention that Emerald Sustrai and Hazel Rainart officially defected from Salem’s side, and it’s clear that Mercury doesn’t want to serve her either. Eventually, all of Salem’s plans will come tumbling down on top of her, with humanity all standing strong, united in their finest hour.

Boomstick: All thanks to the efforts of one kind, simple soul. From a small girl being read bedtime stories of heroes, and dreaming to one day become just like them, to making that dream flower with her own hard work and determination, becoming a staunch defender of the innocent and hero leading the world against Salem, it’s clear for all to see that she’s accomplished that all, and more. It’s just like Ozpin said; sometimes victory lies in the simpler things that require a more honest soul, and Ruby has well and truly bloomed into the hero Remnant needs.

Ruby Rose: As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!

Amelia Ruby Fight

Conclusion[]

If Amelia wins
If Ruby Rose wins

Original Track[]

The Original Track for this fight would be called “War of the Roses”.

It references both combatants connection to roses (Amelia's title is the Rose of the War, Ruby's surname is Rose and they both feature a predominantly rose red colour theme), and their respective histories with war (Amelia's involvement during the Grado War and Ruby's involvement during the war against Salem). Additionally, it also refers to this fight as a whole, as they are facing each other in combat, as often happens in war, and the historical War of the Roses, which was a series of civil wars fought over control of the English throne during the fifteenth century.

Trivia[]

  • The connections between Amelia and Ruby Rose are that they are both cute, clumsy and initially inexperienced girls who were raised in a small village in the countryside of a renowned kingdom (Silva in Grado and Patch in Vale) and are associated with the colour red. They would grow up admiring the stories of legendary heroes, being extremely kind and selfless with a strong belief in justice. Unfortunately, they would lose their mothers at a young age (Melina being kidnapped by bandits that attacked their village and Summer Rose leaving Ruby to protect her), and this would traumatically impact them for years to come, reinforcing their desire to become staunch defenders of the innocent who fight against evil and save those in need. Seeking to learn the ways of combat, they joined a group which would allow them to better their fighting abilities (Grado's Army and Signal Academy), looking up to a legendary warrior who belonged to it (Duessel and Qrow Branwen) and who would eventually become paternal mentor figures to them. They took up weapons specifically known for their long reach (Lance and Scythe/Gun) and are noted for their exceptional ability to grow. Able to make connections with others quickly, they left to join a different group (Renais' Army and Beacon Academy), where their first meeting with their soon-to-be rival, best friend and partner happened clumsily, and on accident (Amelia tripping and Franz catching her, and Ruby nearly blowing up Weiss by sneezing). They would also begin a close relationship with a young and brave blond-haired knight (Franz and Jaune), who they would form a lifelong connection with, and have an animal that they care about deeply (Amelia's songbird and Ruby's dog, Zwei). Although somewhat stubborn and dealing with trauma and manipulation during the war that tore their lives apart (Grado's War and Salem's War), they would become officially recognised heroes of their nations (Knight and Huntress), saving many during the war as they travelled across the continent and the different regions within (Renais, Frelia, Jehanna, Rausten, Grado and Carcino in Magvel and Vale, Mistral, Atlas and Vacuo in Remnant). The final antagonist of their stories are ancient demonic entities in command of a vast army of monsters (Fomortiis and Salem) who manipulate impressionable youths (Lyon and Cinder Fall) for their own goals (Being revived and world domination).
    • They additionally have a connection to flowers and roses. In Amelia's case, there is a flower named the "Abronia Ameliae", meaning "Amelia's Sand Verbena", and for Ruby, there are flowers named the "Ruby Loropetalum", which is most commonly red, fitting Ruby's colour theme. Additionally, Amelia's titles are the "Rose of the War", the "Blossoming Talent" and the "Blossoming Knight Prodigy", and Ruby's surname is Rose, a flower which is predominantly red.
