Castlevania VS Sonic the Hedgehog! These two have overcome the very blood in their veins to forge their own identity. But which son of evil will emerge victorious?

Alucard vs. Shadow the Hedgehog is the 73rd episode of DEATH BATTLE! by Shadow7615, featuring Alucard from the Castlevania series and Shadow the Hedgehog from the Sonic the Hedgehog series in a battle between hybrid sons of evil.

Interlude[]

Boomstick: Connection, it's something that everyone needs, whether it be your family, or people you've spent years getting to know. But if someone breaks those bonds, they're screwed.

Wiz: As for today's combatants, they know that pain better than most.

Boomstick: Alucard, the Vampire Prince.

Wiz: And Shadow the Hedgehog, the Ultimate Lifeform.

Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick!

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.

Alucard[]

Boomstick: There’s a lot of scary stuff in the world. Immortal vampires are especially scary. But if I’ve learned anything, they’re not bad people. Well, not truly bad anyway.

Wiz: This can certainly be said for the Vampire Lord of Castlevania, Dracula. While he was feared across all of Europe, his immortal life made him more reserved than you’d expect. At one point he recruited humans into his ranks, fellow victims of being shunned by the light.

Boomstick: Which led him to eventually meet a woman named Lisa, who just so happened to resemble Dracula’s previous wife. So it wasn’t long before Dracula fell in love with her, and the two of them surprisingly hit it off.

Wiz: Although their bond was unnatural, their union was so strong and pivotal, it would change the fate of a universe. On one fateful day in the 15th century, the son of Dracula was born, Adrian Fahrenheit Țepeș, aka, Alucard.

Popup: It is unclear if Alucard has the same form of immortality as his father, such as being able to return after being killed and even after having his soul erased. He does, however, have eternal life, and will naturally live forever. By the time of Dawn of Sorrow, Alucard has been alive for 600 years, with no signs of aging.

Boomstick: Born as a Dhampir, Alucard was naturally superhuman. All the typical buffs, strength, resilience, speed, stamina, and so on. But being the perfect balance of Vampire and Human meant that Alucard got the best parts of both in his veins. From daddy Dracula, Alucard gained a bunch of cool powers. In particular, Alucard is a champ when it comes to magic spells.

Wiz: Dark Metamorphosis is his go-to healing spell. Just like his old man, Alucard can summon Hellfire in the form of fireballs, and even teleport. With Soul Steal, he can steal the souls of anything in his vicinity. While the names are certainly on the nose compared to Dark Metamorphosis, Alucard's abilities certainly prove he's the heir of the Vampire Lord.

Boomstick: He can shapeshift himself into a bat, a wolf, or mist. Perfect for getting around tricky opponents in combat. Even Ghosts and Zombies can fall victim to the Vampire Prince's power. Not only that, Alucard possesses some incredibly enhanced senses. With just a sniff of blood, he can figure out what kind of being you are. Like me when I go to the bottle shop and figure out what beer is the right one for me.

Wiz: Alucard used this to pick up on the scent of Richter Belmont's blood, through which he deduced that he was of the same bloodline as his former ally, Trevor Belmont. Despite being the son of Dracula, Alucard would end up allying with the Belmont Clan in their mutual quest to defeat Dracula. Though Alucard wasn't always opposed to his father.

Popup: Alucard also possesses strong empathic resistances, as he remained unaffected by Dracula's curse, which he cast over all of Europe.

Boomstick: While Mamma Lisa was around, Adrian had a happy life, but when Lisa got burned at the stake, Dracula's grief and pain moulded Adrian into a dark warrior of the Vampire Lord. But Adrian held to his mamma's words, and when Dracula decided that humanity would suffer as a result of her death, Adrian was committed to stopping his old man, even taking the name Alucard to stick it to the man.

Wiz: Bearing the name "Alucard" meant embodying the very principle of becoming one's opposite. Adrian had become Alucard, and he wouldn't rest until the threat against humanity was stopped once for all. And that meant using all the powers he gained to put a stop to his father's wicked ambitions. With his stopwatch, Alucard can slow down time, almost to a halt. Though to be clear, it isn't a time stop. Like, say... the powers of a certain vampire...

Boomstick: Awww, it was so close... Though Alucard's got more where that came from, including the Dragon Helm, which instils fear upon Alucard's foes, lowering their defenses. For some reason, Alucard has a goddamn Neutron Bomb just minding its own business. Where do I get one of those?!

Wiz: And for his ultimate attack, Alucard brandishes the Infernal Blade, lighting it on fire, sprouting demonic wings, and delivers two devastating strikes. And speaking of swords, Alucard is a well-refined swordsman, usually carrying one-handed blades into battle. Should he fight at close range, Alucard has his signature Alucard Sword and Alucard Shield. These coveted heirlooms are Alucard's finest equipment.

Popup: Alucard has demonstrated his ability to resist petrification, as he was able to break out of Medusa's petrification, the effects of which are typically permanent. He can similarly withstand both physical and magical attacks from Death, whose powers can bring death upon the living.

Boomstick: Don't forget the Alucard Mail. Which I am saddened to learn isn't some kind of late-night mail delivery service. But it does help Alucard resist Fire, Ice and Lightning. And all this has helped Alucard become one of the strongest characters in Castlevania history. He's defeated some tough sons of bitches, even Dracula's entire army is no match for Alucard.

Wiz: Of course, Alucard's greatest victories are his multiple wins over Dracula. Remember, Dracula's power is sourced from the entity called Chaos, who created the Chaotic Realm, which in itself is a universe parallel to the main Castlevania universe. And while Dracula did come back every single time, Alucard's eternal life meant that he'd be ready to go as soon as Dracula returned, so Alucard's level of power is consistent.

Boomstick: Alucard's also defeated the Time Reaper, who had the power to utterly destroy the Castlevania timeline. This is even more impressive when you realize Alucard doesn't have resistance to Time Stopping. Fucking badass! Even the guy who Time Reaper states as his superior, Galamoth, wasn't able to take down Alucard. So needless to say, Alucard can take on the universe's most dangerous monsters.

Wiz: Defeating Dracula alone also gives Alucard some impressive Faster than Light speeds, as Dracula can create beams of light. Alucard is consistently capable of outpacing the forces of Dracula's Castle. Medusa can also launch beams of light, which on multiple occasions have been confirmed to be composed of light itself. Paranoia, Count Olrox, there's no shortage of feats to support Alucard's speeds.

Popup: Alucard is also comparable to Trevor Belmont, who dodged and outpaced Nuculais, a being made entirely of light.

Boomstick: Being a Dhampir also meant that Alucard avoided getting the same vampiric weaknesses as his father, so there's no super effectiveness in using holy weapons or sunlight. But Alucard does still have a weakness to running water. Though really, that's not going to slow Alucard down anytime soon.

Wiz: Eventually, at the turn of the millennium, Alucard and Julius Belmont worked together to defeat Dracula one last time, with the Dark Lord's remains destroyed, and his connection to Chaos severed, Dracula was sealed away. Though over the next 30 years, Alucard knew that Dracula could return if the seal was broken.

Boomstick: But somehow, Alucard lived long enough to see Dracula get reincarnated into something just as horrifying, an anime boy... called Soma Cruz. Thankfully, Alucard helped Soma be his own person instead of becoming Dracula 2.0, and guided Soma to eventually destroy Chaos once and for all.

Wiz: Though Alucard pondered if the world needed a dark lord, he knew that if one did emerge, he would forever stand on the human side, prepared to fight to the end. No matter how many centuries it took.

Alucard: Dracula... in the name of my mother, I will defeat you again.

Shadow the Hedgehog[]

Wiz: Like many scientists I know, Dr Gerald Robotnik was a genius and could handle just about any scientific endeavour he came across. But one particular problem proved far greater than anything he had ever experienced, the declining health of his granddaughter, Maria Robotnik.

Boomstick: Maria was suffering from Neuro-Immune Deficiency Syndrome, which had no cure. But Gerald took advantage of an opportunity given to him by the government to research and develop immortality with the hope he could cure Maria. Because why not?

Wiz: Development was tricky until Gerald worked out a deal with Black Doom, the ruler of the Black Arms. Black Doom imparted his very blood to ensure the research would develop a lifeform that would prove successful.

Boomstick: Sure enough, Black Doom’s blood was enough to help Gerald create the “Ultimate Lifeform” he sought, Shadow the Hedgehog. But the project was deemed too dangerous by the government, and that’s when everything went to shit. Especially for Shadow. Watching Maria get gunned down right in front of him changed Shadow's life forever. But he was sealed, and left in stasis for 50 years.

Popup: Following Maria's death, Gerald went mad with grief and brainwashed Shadow, manipulating his memories onboard the ARK. Turning him into an ultimate weapon to exact his vengeance upon humanity. Gerald described Shadow as capable of causing global destruction if he was awoken.

Wiz: When Shadow did return, he understandably swore revenge. And thanks to the experiments that created him, Shadow's powers were directly tied to the Chaos Emeralds, making him extraordinarily powerful. So much so, it put him on an equal playing field to his blue rival, Sonic the Hedgehog. Since Sonic is also able to use the Chaos Emeralds to use incredible powers, it makes sense that Shadow is able to use a lot of the same powers as the Blue Blur.

Boomstick: No kidding. Homing Attacks, Spin Dashes, Spin Attacks, the typical hedgehog moveset. Shadow can also use similar powers as well, like elemental barriers and shields. But Shadow does have his own gear to set himself apart from his speedster rival. For one, he uses clearly superior Air Shoes, which allow his speeds to match Sonic, who uses those simple sneakers. Plus they sort of let him fly. And who could forget that Shadow packs more heat and lead than anyone else in the series!

Wiz: But while Shadow's equipment and inventory are useful, his main ability is harnessing the power of chaos itself. Although directly linked to the Chaos Emeralds, Shadow doesn't require one to use these abilities. By simply willing the power of Chaos, Shadow can perform a bunch of techniques, like creating a Tornado just by zooming around fast enough to generate his Black Tornado. He also uses the power of Chaos for long-ranged attacks like Chaos Spear.

Boomstick: Chaos Lance is essentially an upgraded version of Chaos Spear. But his signature technique is Chaos Control, which bends space and time to Shadow's whim. He can use it to instantly teleport himself and other stuff if he's holding onto it. Chaos Control is also Shadow's answer for manipulating Time itself.

Popup: Although not able to do so on his own, Shadow and Sonic, with one Chaos Emerald each, were capable of Time Travel when performing Chaos Control at the same time.

Wiz: He can slow down time itself, or stop it completely. Giving Shadow the perfect opportunity to land strong and devastating blows. But for Shadow's most destructive power, look no further than Chaos Blast, a massive explosion of chaos energy that can annihilate most foes with ease. Shadow's chaos energy can also be manipulated by his emotions.

Boomstick: If Shadow feels noble or otherwise heroic, he will have more control of his power. On the other hand, if Shadow allows his emotions to dominate his mind, his raw power intensifies to greater levels than normal. Which brings us to the important part of Shadow's chaos powers. Since they're linked to the Chaos Emeralds, if Shadow acquires a Chaos Emerald, his levels of chaos power increase.

Wiz: Since Shadow's power is so great, he wears Inhibitor Rings, which limits how much chaos energy Shadow can use at any given time. Should Shadow remove his Inhibitor Rings, his power rises to the same level of power if he had a single Chaos Emerald, all in exchange for less control. So when Shadow obtained the power of all seven Chaos Emeralds, he gained the ability to transform into Super Shadow.

Boomstick: Super Shadow is ridiculously powerful, not only does his power and speed increase to even greater levels, but he's also completely invulnerable! Now of course, Super Shadow has a time limit and relies on the good ol' Power Rings to maintain his transformation, as without them, he'll only be Super for about a minute. And oh yeah, Shadow can absolutely fly now.

Popup: With the use of Chaos Control, Shadow is capable of interdimensional travel, as Shadow was able to warp himself and Metal Sonic back to Earth from the Chatoic Inferno Zone, needing only a single Emerald.

Wiz: With so much power, Shadow has accomplish some truly impressive feats. He's matched Sonic's speed on multiple occassions, which would make him comparable to another creation of the Robotnik family that can keep pace with the Blue Blur, Metal Sonic, who travelled from Little Planet to Earth in seconds, a feat 72 times faster than light. Shadow has also matched Mephiles, who, during their battle, had two Chaos Emeralds.

Boomstick: When Shadow learned the truth about history and realized his dad, Black Doom, was all about destroying humanity with the Black Arms, Shadow stopped their invasion and defeated Black Doom, and even defeated his final form, Devil Doom, as Super Shadow. Talk about a cathardic victory.

Wiz: Though Super Shadow has achieved much greater things than that. Super Shadow survived the destruction of Planet Aquirius, and used Chaos Control to teleport the space colony ARK into orbit. Planetary feats with the Chaos Emeralds are consistent, as Sonic used the seven Chaos Emeralds to rebuild the Earth after it had been broken into multiple pieces. Super Shadow would also be comparable to the Final Egg Blaster.

Boomstick: This big thing can annihilate entire star clusters, and Shadow's speed should also be comparable to that of the Final Egg Blaster's laser, which, in order to wipe out all those star clusters, moved over 18 billion times the speed of light. We also can't forget Solaris, who Super Shadow helped defeat. Solaris was so powerful that he could destroy every timeline and dimension in Sonic history.

Popup: Solaris's timeline destroying power, though not confirmed, could include the 326 potential timelines in as in the Shadow the Hedgehog video game. Furthermore, it could also include Maginaryworld, a dimension of everyone's dreams made manifest as entire physical worlds.

Wiz: Though Shadow has had some bumps on the road. Namely that his past has haunted him for so long that, moreso than any foe he's ever gone up against, Shadow's greatest struggle has been overcoming his past. Which got the better of him on more than enough occasions. Super Shadow, while immensely powerful, is ultimately just a temporary power up.

Boomstick: While Super Shadow typically has the power necessary to defeat his enemies before the timer runs out, should he lose his golden super form, Shadow won't be able to go Super again for a good while.

Wiz: Of course, we can't talk about problems without bringing up just how much Shadow's character has been affected by SEGA themselves. Though Shadow might seem like an edgelord, he really isn't. And that's what lies at the heart of Shadow's character.

Boomstick: Thankfully, Shadow has been able to move on from his past, and instead look towards a much better future, one that Maria would be proud of.

Shadow the Hedgehog: I am Shadow the Hedgehog. I've left the past behind me. No one can tell me what to do now! I will destroy you, Black Doom!!

DEATH BATTLE![]

(Cue Wandering Ghosts - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night)

Under the blanket of darkness, the night took hold of the world. The only comfort for some, the full moon illuminating the world from above. The moon's white light shone brightly, keeping the darkness from concealing all there was to be seen. Though a full moon was sometimes an omen to things to come. For some, it was the herald of things one could only lament. For others, it was the sign of their impending destiny, that it was their time to answer the call.

In central Romania, the night itself brought forth something that had not been seen in a long time. The image of the moon soon caught the emergence of a tall structure. The sight of it inspired varied reactions to the people around it. Alas, the silence of the night did not create a commotion, instead, all was quiet. Looming overhead was the sight seen by only a select few every century, the enduring and iconic Castlevania.

The sight was marvellous to observe, but its presence changed the course of history, the lives surrounding it. Few would have what it takes to see this through to the end. Several hours pass and it reaches midnight. The full moon is in tandem with Castlevania's daunting presence. Unusual sounds could be heard from within the castle, eerie groans and bone-chilling shrieking. It seemed nothing short of horrifying.

Such thoughts consumed the minds of the people who bore witness to the majesty of Castlevania. Thankfully, not all those present were succumbing to the fear of the dark lord's fortress. With momentary noises few and far between, something moved at such impressive speeds that nothing could take notice of it, or see it with their own eyes.

The noises were heard getting closer and closer to Castlevania. It was as if it had been drawn to the castle. But in truth, it was a conscious decision, and one acted on quickly, in the interests of all. Sprinting, but quietly, Alucard swiftly approached the nearest entry point into Castlevania. There he would find the source of all this chaos. The Dark Lord himself.

But as Alucard began to approach, he noticed one of the doors to Castlevania had already been opened. Believing it to be the Dark Lord's forces escaping out into the world, Alucard immediately observed his surroundings but did not locate anything that had escaped. Alucard quickly resumed his entry into Castlevania, where he noticed a monster attempting to escape.

Moving at shocking speeds and brandishing his heirloom weapon, Alucard effortlessly dispatched the monster, leaving its body to drop to the ground. Alucard proceeded to navigate Castlevania's floors. Though shortly thereafter, he heard the doors of Castlevania shut behind him. Relieved that no more monsters would escape, Alucard continued his climb to the very top.

As Alucard pursued the denizens of the castle, he slowly noticed that some of them had already been slain. The thought perplexed him, as it contradicts the very reason he is here. Seeing that the issue at hand proved far greater than this, Alucard ascended another set of stairs, seeing that this trail of dead and defeated enemies was becoming more abundant.

It also became clear that these monsters were not killed by a Belmont. Confirming his initial belief that he awoke to confront Castlevania due to the absence of a Belmont. The thought then crossed his mind that an independent hunter may be attempting to confront the Dark Lord, unaware of his immense powers.

Concerned for those who may be in for biting off more than they can chew, Alucard followed the trail left behind. As Alucard climbed another set of stairs, he soon heard the sound of monsters that were not only alive but attacking someone. Alucard immediately sped up and charged into a room where he saw several bodies drop to the ground, all of them surrounding a creature of some kind.

Black-furred with red stripes across the body, whatever this creature was, it stood on two feet and had two arms like a human. Alucard was completely unsure of what exactly he was looking at. The creature turned and looked at Alucard, seeing that it had two eyes. Immediately, Alucard tensed up, ready to defend himself when needed.

The creature was an anthropomorphic hedgehog, but not just a nameless being. He was Shadow the Hedgehog. Though he was surprised to see Alucard standing by, he saw the look on Alucard's face and noticed that, at the very least, he was not hostile toward him, instead choosing to act with caution. Deeming him to not be a senseless creature of the night.

"Go about your business. You're not my concern" Shadow insisted. Alucard was astonished to learn that this creature was capable of perfect human speech. Such a creature has never existed before. Alucard briefly relaxed, seeing that Shadow did not intend to attack him, or otherwise harm him. Though Alucard soon caught a scent that immediately caused him to tense up once again. At the same time, Shadow paced himself across the current floor of Castlevania he found himself on.

Searching for something, though with little trace to trail to follow. He saw the staircase that would allow him to proceed to the next floor. However, before he could ascend the stairs, Alucard teleported in front of Shadow, immediately halting the hedgehog in place. Confused, but putting himself on guard, Shadow implored for an answer.

"What are you doing? Move out of the way." Shadow demanded. The cautious man he once looked at instead looked upon him with a look of disdain. Alucard had little breath to waste on Shadow, so all he remarked was a sentence. "Your blood reeks of Chaos... You must be vanquished". Brandishing his family heirloom once again, Alucard attempts to strike Shadow then and there. Using teleportation of his own, Shadow vanished and reappears in the floor's center, to which Alucard teleports as well.

The two stand in opposition to each other, with Shadow becoming agitated. "You don't know the first thing about me" Shadow's emotional distress quickly manifested as he berated Alucard for reminding Shadow of the past he had forgotten. He was nothing like the Black Arms or that so-called "father" of his. Shadow seemed ready to strike but instead paced toward Alucard, who followed suit. The two proceeded to pace around in a circle, both keeping their eyes deadlocked on each other.

Knowing that Chaos stemmed from his bloodline and that the source of Chaos itself lay above them, Alucard concluded that Shadow was nothing more than a new kind of monster that had been achieved thanks to the power of Chaos. That scent, that blood, was unmistakable, it belonged to the spawn of Chaos. "Silence, monster!" Alucard valiantly demanded. Though he soon received the exact opposite, stoking Shadow's anger.

"Monster? I am not a monster. I will show you what I am" Shadow remarked as he entered a battle stance. Alucard, unconvinced, knew that a fight was at hand, so once again brandish the Alucard Sword and readied his weapon.

FIGHT!

(Cue Super Vegeta - Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle)

Using his teleportation, Alucard vanished and quickly appeared behind Shadow, swinging the Alucard Sword. Moments before Alucard could strike, Shadow blocked without so much as turning his head. He had managed to arm himself with the Black Sword in time to repel Alucard's strike. Stunned by the incredible reflexes Shadow displayed, Alucard immediately withdrew his attack. However, Shadow chose to repay Alucard's attack with a well-placed kick.

Using his Air Shoes, Shadow propelled himself forward, putting some distance between him the Vampire Prince. The two took a moment to gather themselves before resuming the fight. Shadow used his shocking speed to swiftly approach Alucard. Immediately, Alucard knew he wouldn't be able to land a swing on someone as quick as Shadow, and so quickly armed himself with the Alucard Shield, guarding against Shadow's Black Sword.

Noticing that Shadow stopped for just a moment longer than he would've liked, Alucard capitalized on this and used his shield as a battering ram, knocking Shadow back several meters. Momentarily holding on his hand on his head, Shadow shook his head to get over the impact of the Alucard Shield. Deeming that move unexpected, but acknowledging that it was a smart use of his weapon, Shadow knew he had to change his approach.

Deciding he should switch up his approach as well, Alucard releases his grasp on his weapon. Much to Shadow's surprise, the sword remains stationary, as if suspended in midair. Immediately thereafter, the Alucard Sword suddenly moves as though it gained sentience. The sword positioned itself above Alucard's right shoulder, and the blade now pointed at Shadow. Carefully watching the sword's movements, Shadow kept a keen eye on the blade.

And he was right to do so, as the Alucard Sword flew straight toward Shadow. Using his speed, Shadow jumped into the air and spun, using his momentum to swing the Black Sword, knocking the sword off its intended trajectory. Homing in on Alucard, Shadow prepared to strike. Though Alucard quickly defends himself with the Alucard Shield. Though the onslaught was brief, Shadow recalled the sword headed for him. The Ultimate Lifeform quickly evaded the incoming weapon as it returned to Alucard's side.

At that moment, Alucard had an idea. Charing towards Shadow, he readied himself to strike. Shadow followed suit and used his incredible speed to approach Alucard at much faster speeds. But as Shadow neared, Alucard suddenly turned into mist, and Shadow struck at nothing. Astonished and frozen at that moment, Shadow, in a rush, checked all of his corners, but couldn't find the Vampire Prince.

Emerging from a pillar of white and golden light, Alucard manifested back in his normal form. Though no longer wielding his sword and shield, Alucard raised his left arm, opening his cloak. From it, launched a set of flaming projectiles, Hellfire. The three projectiles struck Shadow, surrounding him in a blaze of flame with some burns on his body. Seeing the success of his attack, Alucard disappeared into another pillar of white and golden light.

Disgruntled at the damage he was facing, Shadow quickly assumes a crouching position and curls into a ball, performing his Spin Dash. Moving at incredible speeds, Shadow invoked a powerful tornado, which intensified until it had the strength to quell the flames. After a few seconds, all of the Hellfire dissipated and Shadow was safe. Now well out of harm's way, Shadow looked around to locate Alucard once again.

Though at this point Alucard had gained the upper hand, he was nowhere to be seen, and Shadow couldn't ascertain his location. He kept his hands on the Black Sword, ready for an incoming strike. But to his surprise, he turned and saw Alucard standing there as though nothing had happened. Shadow knew that getting close was something Alucard could counter, so he came up with a different tactic.

Using the powers of Chaos, Shadow unleashed a small barrage of Chaos Spears toward Alucard. Seeing the attack coming, Alucard used Shadow's moment of vulnerability to strike. As the projectiles neared him, Alucard this time chose to teleport, so that he would directly appear in front of Shadow. Though Shadow wasn't caught off guard, as he was able to react to Alucard's teleportation and raised his Black Sword to guard against Alucard's sword.

Though with the teleportation costing Shadow the time to properly prepare himself for the attack, Alucard's strike knocked Shadow into the wall behind him. The Ultimate Lifeform shook himself all over, trying to shrug off the impact. Needing time to get himself together, Shadow retrieved a pistol and aimed it at Alucard. Though before Shadow could pull the trigger, Alucard sliced the barrel of the gun in a single clean stroke.

Stunned by the precision of that swing, but also not bothered by the inability to use a gun, Shadow used his Air Shoes to launch himself off the ground, avoiding another of Alucard's sword swings. Shadow's attack launched Alucard back several meters, but before gravity could take hold of him, Alucard used his initial impact with the ground to help him recover, perching himself against a wall, Alucard lept off of it, maintaining the momentum he had received.

This came in handy as Shadow had launched another wave of Chaos Spears. Fancying the projectile approach, Alucard quickly hatched a plan. Amidst Shadow's Chaos Spears, Alucard tossed something, it ricocheted off the ground, and soon off the ceiling, it seemed to have no ability to slow down whatsoever. Though its speed was nothing that Shadow couldn't follow. With his eyes following every moment, Shadow saw it headed straight for him.

Casually raising his left arm, Shadow caught it in his hand. He glanced at what had been ricocheted, only to see that it was a common rock. It perplexed Shadow, as it wasn't capable of anything remotely comparable to the awesome magic and power that Alucard had already displayed throughout the fight. Unfortunately, Shadow realized too late that the rock was not Alucard's true aim.

(Cue Legendary Battle Theme - Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee!)

That same moment, Alucard unleashed a flurry of magic attacks, each of them striking Shadow with precision. "Go back whence you came!" Alucard shouted as he unleashed another wave of magic, each striking Shadow in quick succession. Alucard followed up by casting Hellfire once again, the projectiles headed right for the Ultimate Lifeform, though this time, Shadow was aware of Hellfire, and activated his Heat Barrier, surrounding him in a red barrier that protected him against Hellfire.

As it cleared, Shadow rushed toward Alucard, as if emerging from the flames of hell itself, Alucard couldn't react in time, and Shadow, performing a Spin Dash, blitzed Alucard, knocking him off his feet and propelling him backward. Alucard took longer to hit the ground than he had previously, allowing Shadow to strike Alucard a second time, zooming around with his Spin Dash to catch Alucard before he could recover.

Launching Alucard into the air, Shadow immediately activated his Air Shoes, launching himself into the air, Shadow again used his Spin Dash to break his way through the ceiling of the floor they were on, effortlessly appearing on the floor above. Shadow quickly charged his Spin Dash and blitz his way back through the floor, in time for him to strike Alucard a third time, knocking the Vampire Prince to the floor below.

Getting himself off the ground, Alucard momentarily laid his hand over his face, trying his best to set aside the pain. Shadow slowly descended to the ground, awaiting Alucard's next action. With the time he has had to observe Shadow's capabilities, Alucard was ready for the fight to continue. Once again arming with the Alucard Sword, he jumped into the air right toward Shadow. Seeing such a predictable attack, Shadow responded with a powerful kick backed by his incredible speed.

Though instead of striking, Alucard reached into his pocket and retrieved his Stopwatch. Immediately, Alucard activated his Stopwatch, which slowed time considerably. With Alucard unaffected by the time manipulating effects of his Stopwatch, he continued his approach toward Shadow. With a swing of his Sword, Alucard altered the course of Shadow's path, sending him on a vertical path straight to the ground.

Activating his teleportation, Alucard vanished and reappeared to strike Shadow once again, knocking him backward. Repeating the process once more, Alucard firmly grasped his sword and readied himself to plunge it into Shadow's chest. Though before Shadow reached him, the Ultimate Lifeform's eyes suddenly caught up with the current events, and he looked at Alucard sharply. "Chaos..." Shadow uttered slowly, still under the effects of the time stop.

Stunned that Shadow was capable of holding off, Alucard rushed forward to deliver the killing blow before Shadow's body would reach him. "...Control!" At the command of the Ultimate Lifeform, time itself crawled to a halt, halting Alucard in place. With himself freed from Alucard's stopwatch, Shadow teleported and performed an upward kick, launching Alucard into the air, his suspension in time causing him to release his sword.

Teleporting a second time, Shadow appeared above Alucard, striking him with both of his hands together. At that moment, Shadow resumed time like normal, and Alucard found himself falling to the ground, astonished to find himself in a different place than he was before. Hitting the ground and briefly bouncing up, Alucard prepared to use his stopwatch once again. But before he could reach it to slow time. Shadow appeared in front of Alucard and launched the Vampire Prince with a roundhouse kick.

Knocked in the wall, crumbling the immaculate stone behind him, Alucard was also disarmed of the stopwatch. Standing there, admittedly impressed by Alucard's skills, Shadow acknowledged the capabilities of his foe. "Not bad, you've got some skills. But we're far from done". Shadow commented as Alucard rose back to his feet. Though shaken, Alucard's greatest concern was the very power Shadow commanded. "You command Chaos within your very veins. Such powers must never be allowed to harm humanity again." Alucard insisted.

Though at this point, all Shadow thought about was his past. That dark chapter in his life was difficult to overcome, but he succeeded. "My days as a pawn of Chaos are behind me." Although Shadow spoke from the purest and truest part of himself, Alucard could not be deterred, what Chaos was capable of exceeds even the noblest of heroes' actions. "Chaos... the creations of Chaos are sinful... they bring harm upon innocent lives. I cannot allow you to continue". Alucard insisted as he again drew his sword. Hoping that Alucard would have been convinced, Shadow could no longer prove his words would be stronger than his actions.

"If you choose to become my enemy... I will fight like I always have" Shadow proclaimed as he again readied himself to fight the Vampire Prince. Vanishing into a veil of mist, Alucard dispersed from the battlefield, Shadow watched as his foe seemingly dematerialized from the battle at hand. Keeping an eye open, Shadow looked to every possible avenue, searching even his blindspots, hoping to anticipate Alucard’s return. Though he wouldn’t have to wait long.

Hearing the sound of bats behind him, Shadow turned to face them. But they were not the bats that Alucard could turn into, but rather native bats that dwelled into the castle’s walls. But that moment allowed Alucard the necessary time to strike. Appearing from the darkness, Alucard cast a powerful magic spell, one which seemingly restricted Shadow’s movements. The Ultimate Lifeform could feel his body struggle to move, as though artificial restraints had been placed on him. Seeing his spell succeed, Alucard approached Shadow as he looked upon his foe, confident that this would be the technique to finally subdue his foe.

"Soul Steal!" Alucard shouted as his magic began to close in and surround Shadow, bringing him closer to what could be his ultimate fate. Despite the struggle of his predicament. Shadow did not squirm or shake about needlessly. Instead, he calmed himself. Closing his eyes, his mind drifted to that of his long-departed companion, Maria. If he died here and now, Maria’s loss would be for nothing, it would be in vain.

That did not sit well with the Ultimate Lifeform, who decided that he could not allow this to go on any further. "She loved this planet... I will not let you destroy what she cherished" Shadow’s willpower suddenly returned, and with greater strength than it had previously. Alucard watched on as Shadow began resisting his attempts to restrain him. With considerable effort, Shadow almost broke himself free of Alucard’s magic.

As Shadow’s concentration intensified, the magic’s hold over him weakened enough for Shadow to use his only option still standing. Activating a shield that surrounded him, Shadow then proceeded to reveal seven brilliant-cut gems, sporting the colors blue, green, purple, red, turquoise white, and yellow. These were the Chaos Emeralds. They all circled Shadow before all of them combined into Shadow’s being. At that moment, his black fur changed to gold, and his aura intensified.

With more power than even Alucard could’ve imagined, Shadow broke Alucard’s magic, freeing him. At last, Super Shadow appears. The shockwaves emitted from Super Shadow’s awakening dragged Alucard across the ground before Alucard anchored himself to the ground, allowing him to bear witness to the golden spectacle that lay in front of him. "Impossible. What are you?" Alucard inquired with astonishment.

"I am Shadow the Hedgehog. This is who I am!" the Ultimate Lifeform confidently proclaimed moments before tapping into his immensely greater speed and catching Alucard completely by surprise. Before Alucard could even process what had happened, Super Shadow had grabbed him and flown at incredible speeds, busting him through multiple walls before the two finally busted outside of Castlevania. Releasing Alucard, Super Shadow quickly teleported meters ahead of Alucard and watched the Vampire Prince approach him.

Helpless to stop Super Shadow’s attack, Alucard was struck in the head once again, and with greater power behind Super Shadow’s strike, launched right back into Castlevania’s walls, breaking holes in the castle’s walls before finally coming to a halt. Alucard picked himself up and noticed the destruction around him. The walls were beginning to lose their integrity, some of the rooms were now completely vacant of monsters, and many of the candles that adorned the room had tipped over and began liting the room on fire.

Finding himself in some daunting circumstances, Alucard had the necessary time to think and hear himself think. It was brief, but Alucard had decided what he needed to do. "Now!" Alucard shouted as he began tapping into his immense power, Alucard sprouts demonic wings.

Brandishing a new blade, Alucard casually leans the weapon to its side, where the sword attacks the fire in the room, and soo he engulfs his blade in fire, Alucard equips the Infernal Blade. Super Shadow descended from above to see where Alucard ended up, though once he located the Vampire Prince, he noticed that Alucard had again decided to rise to the challenge. Super Shadow watched to see what Alucard would do next.

With his abilities ready, Alucard began sprinting back through the walls that he had decimated during his knockback. But as he got closer to the edge, his wings sharply adjusted in time for Alucard to leap off Castlevania. At that moment, he took flight and headed directly for Super Shadow. "Here I come!" the transformed Vampire Prince proclaimed. Super Shadow responded in kind by initiating their battle once again.

The full moon illuminated their airborne battlefield as Alucard and Super Shadow collided multiple times, both using their bolstered strength and aerial maneuverability to strike at one another. Though Super Shadow remained superior when it came to speed, which allow him to initiate more attacks.

Super Shadow stopped in place for a moment and motioned his arm above him, where a massive clutter of Chaos Spears rained down from above, their appearance almost disguised by the moon’s blinding light. Alucard took evasive action and even cast some of his magic to counter Super Shadow’s Chaos Spears. Just before one proved too quick to deflect or dodge, Alucard activated his teleportation.

Super Shadow stopped and looked around, now having to account for his entire surroundings, rather than within the walls of a castle. "It's over." Alucard uttered. His voice seemingly comes from the moon itself. Alucard’s visage was a powerful dark shadow that cast itself in front of the moon. Raising his left arm, his cloak opened, and from it, Alucard unleashes a furious barrage of magic upon Shadow. Though these did not resemble the previous magic spells of Hellfire he had used. Alucard used Dark Inferno.

Instead of looking like simple balls of flame, Dark Inferno had the appearance of perfectly round spheres. Though they had a red glowing hue to them. The center of Dark Inferno looked pitch-black, with cracks across the spherical surface, buried beneath it was lava that looked more golden than molten. "Burn away..." Alucard uttered as the projectiles of Dark Inferno all homed in on Super Shadow, who attempted to strike them with Chaos Spears but soon found himself unable to break them before they could reach him.

With no other options, Super Shadow activated his Barrier, blocking the barrage of projectiles, causing them to leave fire on the barrier, giving Super Shadow enough time to escape before all of the projectiles erupted into an explosion of flame.

Though that brief pocket of time proved to be advantageous to Alucard, who teleported behind Super Shadow and struck him with the Infernal Blade. Although it did not harm Super Shadow, it did, however, launch the Ultimate Lifeform downward, which inconvenienced him. Alucard pursued Super Shadow, but not before Super Shadow unleashed a wave of Chaos Spears, hoping to stop Alucard.

Though it proved futile as Alucard again teleported out of the way, some of the Chaos Spears instead struck and broke off one of the large towers of Castlevania. Alucard had teleported below Super Shadow and used another attack to redirect Super Shadow upward, seeing that Super Shadow’s destruction of the Castlevania would be his damage to receive.

As Alucard planned, Super Shadow was knocked into the falling debris of Castlevania. Regaining his control, Super Shadow immediately turned the chunks of stone and rock into makeshift projectiles and began hurdling them toward the Vampire Prince. Casting Hellfire, Alucard destroyed what debris he could, before having to use the projectiles as makeshift platforms, using it to help him approach Super Shadow more directly.

Super Shadow turned and saw a rather large structural piece of Castlevania proceed to fall, and it would hit him unless he moved. Super Shadow saw Alucard approaching him and knew that he need to do something. Super Shadow flew up to and grabbed onto it, closing his eyes, he activated Chaos Control to teleport that massive piece of Castlevania into the skies much higher than where the castle rested.

With his command, Super Shadow hurled it toward Alucard, who ran along the surface before leaping off of it and using his wings to quickly approach Super Shadow. Swinging the Infernal Blade "Chaos will be vanquished!" Alucard proclaimed as he began swinging at the Ultimate Lifeform, the blade leaving trails of flame, though Super Shadow evaded every swing, and with a well-timed kick, disarmed Alucard of the Infernal Blade.

Channelling even more of his power, Alucard grabbed hold of Super Shadow and began flying straight toward the ground, hoping to retrieve the Infernal Blade. During their descent, Super Shadow looked at Alucard and was impressed by just how much power the Vampire Prince had mustered. Super Shadow attempted to punch Alucard, but Alucard blocked the strike and held his arm there, looking to restrain what abilities the Ultimate Lifeform could perform.

"You will never again touch this world. Chaos has held dominion on this world and these people for far too long!" Alucard stated as he and Super Shadow continued their fall, almost at an impasse for what to do. Though Super Shadow was not prepared to go silently into the night. "Chaos is mine… to control!" Super Shadow declared as he activated Chaos Control, stopping time. With everything in an ideal place, Super Shadow freed himself from Alucard’s restraint and twisted the Inhibitor Rings on his wrist, and dropping them, stopped in time as they began to descend.

Super Shadow grabbed hold of the Infernal Blade and raised his opposing arm to summon a massive wave of Chaos Spears, all of which homed in on Alucard, surrounding him from every possible angle. Super Shadow watched his Chaos Control cease and time resume. Alucard noticed far too late that Super Shadow had vanished and similarly noticed the massive ensemble of Chaos Spears surrounding him. Several of them struck Alucard, but not before Alucard was able to transform into a veil of mist and escape subsequent Chaos Spears.

Unfortunately, his evasion did not save him. Super Shadow, at unfathomable speeds, impaled Alucard with his Infernal Blade, something Alucard had momentarily forgotten about. Now impaled and being pushed at speeds that far exceeded what he was capable of, Alucard tried to get a look at Super Shadow, but the speeds made it impossible to get a clear image. Alucard attempted to strike Super Shadow with magic, but Chaos Spears again struck the Vampire Prince. Super Shadow simply kept going, keeping a firm grip on the Infernal Blade.

As the two of them flew higher and higher into the skies above, eventually it was clear where Super Shadow was headed. But Super Shadow had one last idea. Charging in as much of his Chaos energy as he could, Super Shadow began to glow a strong, bright red. Alucard was too overwhelmed by the Chaos Spears and the sheer intensity of the speeds he was subjected to even comprehend what was going on.

Super Shadow took a final look at the Vampire Prince before invoking his final attack. "...Chaos Blast" Super Shadow shouted as a massive explosion of Chaos energy erupted, with Shadow and Alucard right in its epicenter. The blast was so powerful that it forcibly separated Alucard and Shadow from each other.

Alucard soon found himself far beyond Earth’s atmosphere, where he quickly noticed that his body was freezing all over. He attempted to teleport before freezing completely, but was unsuccessful, his body at the mercy of Earth’s atmospheric reentry. At the same time, Super Shadow lost his golden form and reverted to his normal state. Depleted of almost all his energy, Shadow simply allowed gravity to take things from here, his body tired from a battle unlike anything Shadow had experienced.

A couple of hours later, the sun rose, and Castlevania disappeared, all that remained from the battle was Shadow the Hedgehog, who rested peacefully. Watching everything that he had seen during the battle disperse into nothing, eventually, even Alucard's body was gone. Shadow awoke sometime later, recounting these events.

K.O.!

Conclusion[]

(Cue E.G.G.M.A.N. [Doc. Robeatnic Mix] - Shadow the Hedgehog)

Boomstick: That final attack looks like it got "All of Alucard" to me.

Wiz: While Alucard and Shadow are immortal, Alucard has lived a much longer life, so naturally has more experience in combat than the Ultimate Lifeform. In their base forms, it was also fairly straightforward. Alucard defeating Dracula alone far exceeds anything Shadow could achieve in his base form, especially since Dracula's power was sourced from the Chaos entity, and by extension, the entire Chaotic Realm universe.

Boomstick: Shadow just didn't have anything in his base that could compare to Alucard defeating Dracula and other powerful enemies. Being that strong right from the start meant that Alucard could've defeated Shadow swiftly. But he just couldn't catch that son of a bitch. Shadow was just much, much faster.

Popup: Ironically, despite defeating Time Reaper, Alucard lacks resistance to time manipulation, as he was affected by Aeon's time stop. As Chaos Control is Shadow's signature technique and given his superior speed, Shadow was able to reliably overcome Alucard's advantages.

Wiz: While Alucard has several faster than light feats, Shadow has done the same, and even greater. Being comparable to Sonic and Metal Sonic alone makes Shadow upwards of 72x faster than light. Plus, Shadow had ways of increasing his speed and power, while Alucard didn't, which began to turn the tide against the Vampire Prince.

Boomstick: Alucard's Time Slow, while very useful, was countered by Shadow's Chaos Control. Shadow’s barriers and shields also put the breaks on Alucard’s projectile magic spells. Limiting the effectiveness of Alucard’s arsenal. Besides that, Alucard just had no counter to Super Shadow, and that's when Shadow closes the power gap between them.

Wiz: Alucard and Shadow have defeated some tough customers, especially Time Reaper and Solaris, timeline destroying entities. While both are certainly comparable, Solaris was capable of much greater devastation, Eggman himself confirmed that Solaris was capable of destroying all existing timelines in the past, present and future. While Super Shadow alone didn't defeat Solaris, that's still enough power to deal with Alucard.

Popup: In addition to defeating Solaris alongside Super Shadow and Super Silver, Super Sonic has defeated Time Eater, who could erase time and space on a universal scale, making such levels of power consistent for Super Shadow.

Boomstick: Alucard just couldn't compete with Super Shadow having that much power, being absurdly faster, and having outright invulnerability. Plus the Inhibitor Rings meant that Shadow always had access to more power when needed, which only made things tougher. Without anything to guarantee he could outlast Super Shadow before being overwhelmed. Alucard ran out of options... and time.

Wiz: Alucard was a valiant foe, but with centuries of experience and greater power initially, he simply couldn't keep up with Shadow's superior speed, greater reserves of Chaos energy and invulnerable super form.

Boomstick: In the end, Alucard got Shad-owned!

Winner - Shadow the Hedgehog

Wiz: The winner is Shadow the Hedgehog.

Original Track[]

An Original Track for this fight would be titled "Sons of Chaos".

The title is a reference to the origins of Alucard and Shadow as the sons of Dracula and Black Doom, who both use the powers of Chaos.

Trivia[]

  • The connections between Alucard and Shadow the Hedgehog are that they are beings born as hybrids (Human-Vampire and Hedgehog-Black Arms, respectively) who suffered tragic losses that defined their reserved personalities. The two went into stasis for several years, at some point waking up and encountering someone clad in blue who looked familiar (Richter Belmont, who resembled Trevor Belmont, and Sonic the Hedgehog, who resembled Shadow). Both were initially guided by the influence of their humanity-hating fathers (Dracula and Black Doom) who derived their power from Chaos. Upon learning the truth, they opposed their fathers and thwarted their armies and ambitions. The two also have a close friend, a young blonde girl named Maria (Maria Renard and Maria Robotnik).
    • The two have video games that depict the events of them confronting and defeating their fathers (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Shadow the Hedgehog), despite this, Alucard and Shadow both debuted in games before it (Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse and Sonic Adventure 2). The two have appeared in the Super Smash Bros. series as Assist Trophies.
    • During the game's development, Symphony of the Night was originally going to include an alignment mechanic for Alucard, which would include multiple endings based on Alucard's alignment. This is similar to Shadow the Hedgehog and its multiple endings being dependant on Shadow's alignment.
