Akuma vs Shadow is the third episode of BuzzLightyear12345's Season 1 featuring Akuma from the Street Fighter series against Shadow from the Sonic series.

Description[]

Street Fighter vs Sonic, which dark powered rival of the main character with a similar moveset to the hero will win?

Intro[]

Wiz: A rival. Defined as someone or something that competes with another for the same objective or for superiority in the same field of activity.

Boomstick: But sometimes you gotta take that one step further and make yourself as angry and dark as possible, like these two!

Wiz: Like Shadow the Hedgehog, the Ultimate Lifeform.

Boomstick: And Akuma, Master of the Fists. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.

Wiz: And it's our job to anaylze their weapons, armor and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle.

Akuma[]

Wiz: Akuma, not only considered by word of God to be the strongest Street Fighter character but even considered one of the deadliest characters created by Capcom themself, is defintely someone that brought fear into arcades ever since his debut in the early 90's.

Boomstick: Until they gave him pathetic stamina! And to make things worst, now he looks like a Lion King reject! Oh how the mighty have fallen..

Wiz: Before becoming the angry, shoto-clone demon he is today, Akuma was originally the brother of Gouken, who was the master of Ryu and Ken. Their master, Goutestu, taught them a nameless life threatening technique that included the usage of karate, judo and kempo. Gouken eventually left realizing how destructive this fighting style was, but his brother continued, eventually growing powerful and evil enough with the Dark Hado to kill his own master and start his life of chaos.

Boomstick: Eventually, he found out about Gouken's pupil Ryu and decided he needed to go stalk him 24/7! And...that's still what he does. If he's not stalking Ryu then he's just wandering around aimlessly. Suddenly, he doesn't seem as scary as I remember him being.

Wiz: Having trained under the same style that Ryu, Ken and Gouken have also learned, his fighting style is quite similar to the way that Ryu and Ken fight. An example of this being his Gohadoken, basically being his own version of Ryu and Ken's Hadoken attack. However, unlike these two, he can also use this attack in the air...twice...and even fire an upgraded version of this called the Shakunetsu Hadoken.

Boomstick: He can also perform the Tatsumaki Zank...you know what, I'm not even gonna try this time. I just know I'm gonna screw up the pronounciation like I did last time.

Wiz: What Boomstick was trying to refer here was the attack known as the Tatsumaki Zankukyaku, which is basically his version of Ryu and Ken's Hurricane Kick, where he attacks by spinning his leg mid-air and spinning towards his opponent.

Boomstick: And with his Goshoryuken, he just uppercuts you, just like Ryu and Ken do! This isn't gonna a very interesting anaylsis, is it?

Wiz: The Hyakkishu, also known as the Demon Flip, is an attack that Akuma knows but Ryu and Ken don't..

Boomstick: Finally! Something original on here!

Wiz: This attack allows Akuma to flip towards his opponent and do one of several things: trip the opponent with a kick, palm strike their chest, axe kick their face or grab their opponent and throw them over his shoulders. And with his Ashura Senku, he can psuedo-teleport towards his opponent, able to phase through projectiles and even people.

Boomstick: He's also able to do some pretty nasty Super Moves, such as his Mess..whatever Gou Hadou, where he shoots a giant fireball at you. And with Tenma Gou Zankuu, he shoots another giant fireball at you! And just when you thought he couldn't get any more original, he's also able to shoot giant fireballs at you in the air with his Messastu Gou Hadou too! Truly breaking the think tank right here.

Wiz: The Messastu Goshoryu allows him to do three Shoryukens at once, and his Messatsu Gou Rasen sucks in opponent like a vaccuum and combos them brutally with his Hurricane Kick attack. And now we're getting into the REALLY deadly stuff....like, moves that can one shot you if you get hit by these.

Boomstick: Good lord....

Wiz: Our first attack is the Misogi, where he leaps into the air and slams his fist into the ground, creating a massive wave of energy that's strong enough to destroy an entire island with one hit. However, his true attention isn't to hit the ground, but to hit the opponent by their head. In a way, he's practically attempting to break their skull with this move, being not a surprise why it's seen as a one hit kill.

Boomstick: And then we have his most infamous attack of all, the Raging Demon...we all know how this attack works, but I'll quickly summarize it for you. He basically teleports towards you and if he grabs you, you're fucked.

Wiz: No joke, this attack is BRUTAL. It's an attack that can obliterate someone's soul upon contact. However, the way it works is by using the victim's sins against them. The more sins they've committed, the more deadly this attack will be. Either way, if you get hit by this, regardless of how many sins you've committed, you're not going to live.

Boomstick: As mentioned above, Akuma's one deadly son of a bitch, able to destroy an entire island with one hit with his Misogi attack! He's also been able to kill Gouken, kill M. Bison and kill Gen, leveled an entire forest with one strike alone, and even as a kid he was able to overpower a bear! Not to mention, he was also able to beat both Ryu and Ken at the same time! Now that's some skill right there...

Wiz: However, as strong as Akuma is, he's not flawless. As Boomstick mentioned above, his stamina is pathetic and he relies on playing all offensive with little defense taken into consideration. He also has a strict moral code, where he refuses to attack people who are sick or those who aren't worthy...although he's DEFINTELY broken this before and probably doesn't care about it anymore at this point.

Boomstick: Yeah, like the time he killed an entire submarine filled with people just because he felt like it. Oh, and he did it with one kick too. Nice.

Wiz: But with such raw power and an deadly aresenal like his, it's no wonder he was a bane to many in the arcades.

"I am Akuma, and I will teach you the meaning of pain!"

Shadow[]

Wiz: Sonic, a character known for his speed and cocky attitude...

Boomstick: And having one of the most mixed track records in video game history..

Wiz: Right, but anyways, Sonic's a character who has made plenty of rivals, such as Knuckles the Echidna, Fang the Sniper, Scourge the Hedgehog...

Boomstick: But for some reason, he just loves to pick on people that're fat, wear the color red and have mustaches. Just ask these two! But if you thought those rivals weren't enough, wait till you meet Shadow, the literal epitome of you when you were 13.

Wiz: Shadow was a scientifically created experiment created by Dr. Gerald Robotnik, Dr. Eggman's grandfather. He also was co-created by Black Doom, using some of his DNA to be made as well. With this in mind, Shadow's purpose was to be a cure to help Gerald's granddaughter Maria with a deadly virus she was infected with.

Boomstick: However, before Shadow was able to do anything, a bunch of random soldiers came in and shot them for some reason! Shadow survived, and with this, he went full Sasuke mode and decided to join the bad guy in order to gain more power and destroy anyone who opposed him, even though the bad guy was just using him. Kinda familiar now that I think about it, isn't it?

Wiz: Shadow's got some very nifty tricks up his sleeve, one of these being his similar moves that he shares with his rival Sonic. These moves include his Spindash, which allows him to curl into a ball and slam into his opponent at impressive speeds, and with his Homing Attack, he's able to home in on his opponent and slam into them with a Spin Dash-like maneuveur.

Boomstick: And aside from the speed thing, this is where he starts to get his own moves. The Chaos Spear is a projectile attack which allows Shadow to throw spears of energy at his enemy. The move does exactly as it's called.

Wiz: Shadow Heal allows Shadow to heal his wounds, though this does leave him wide open for attack.

Boomstick: And with Chaos Blast, he just freaking explodes! There's also his abilities with Chaos Control, which allows him to pretty much just teleport but with a longer and more complicated name. Oh, and there's also his guns which he likes to use, but are we REALLY going to talk about those? Why would you need guns when you can teleport and throw energy spears at people?

Wiz: Good point. And when the going seems to get tough for Sonic's rival, he's able to bust out two last minute tricks. By removing his Inhibitor Rings from his arms, his power and speed increase drastically but at the cost of his stamina.

Boomstick: And when all 7 Chaos Emeralds come to him, he becomes Super Shadow, a form which gives him not a 10% increase or a 100% increase but a whopping 1000% increase in his abilities! He also can fly around, becomes invincible and has incredible stamina too. It's basically just the dollar store version of a Super Saiyan.

Wiz: Shadow's survived falling to earth from space, although he did get amnesia; was able to match Sonic in combat numerous times and even best him a few times, froze time around the entirety of the planet, has defeated foes such as Black Doom and Metal Sonic and took out an entire Metarex army by himself in the anime, which is basically just an army of robots.

Boomstick: However, he ain't without flaws, that's for sure. As mentioned above, removing his Inhibitor Rings ruins his stamina, the Super Shadow form has a time limit and doesn't last forever, he can be overconfident and at times cocky, and worst of all, he's responsible for one of the worst games in the entire series. Why does he have a motorcycle?!

Wiz: Even so, being a rival to one of the fastest character in video games is certainly no easy task, showing just how capable of a rival Shadow is.

"If the world chooses to become my enemy... I will fight like I always have!"

Pre Fight[]

Shadow vs Akuma set

Wiz: Alright, the combatants are set, let's end this debate once and for all.

Boomstick: It's time for a Death Battle!

Death Battle[]

On the island of Gotenkou (Akuma's home), a black and red colored hedgehog could be seen skating through the landscape, looking for any signs of a possible Chaos Emerald. He had heard rumors from Rouge and E-123 Omega that there was one located around this area and he wanted to make sure that they weren't wrong about this.

Shadow: "Where's that DAMN fourth Chaos Emerald!? It should be around here somewhe-"

Just then, Shadow's tracks were stopped, for he accidentally bumped right into someone who had also been there at the same time. However, this wasn't someone very friendly in the slightest, oh no, this was someone you'd defintely NOT want to meet. This was Akuma, and instead of grunting in pain, he just turned around and stared at Shadow.

Akuma: "What is this mockery? You dare attack a demon?!"

Shadow: "Get out of my way. I don't have the time for this, creep."

Just as Shadow was preparing to skate off, he's met with a hard punch to the stomach from Akuma, knocking the hedgehog backwards. He quickly gets back to his feet, getting into a stance.

Shadow: "Tch..you'll pay for that!"

Akuma: "No, you will pay....with your LIFE!"

FIGHT!

(Cue this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RLTUkNrOftU)

Shadow wastes no time and leaps at Akuma, swinging his foot down at the Master of the Fists. However, right as Shadow did, Akuma easily blocked and countered by comboing Shadow with two punches, before performing a Hurricane Kick and finishing his combo by performing a Shoryuken, knocking Sonic's rival backwards. Akuma quickly leaps to the air and shoots an aerial Hadoken down at Shadow, attempting to leap down at him for another move. However, this time, Akuma's strike wasn't as successful, for the Ultimate Lifeform was able to speed past it and slam into Akuma with a Spin Dash. Shadow then strikes Akuma with two kicks, before using a Homing Attack to send him a considerable distance away.

Akuma: "Pathetic! Is that the best you can do?!"

Shadow quickly teleports behind Akuma, throwing a kick which sends Akuma stumbling forward. Shadow quickly dashes up to Akuma and attempts to Spin Dash into him again, only for Akuma to use his Ashura Senku and "teleport" through the attack. "Teleporting" just where he wanted, Akuma shoots a Shanketsu Hadoken straight into Shadow, burning the hedgehog and knocking him back. Akuma, continuing this slight advantage he had over Shadow, rushes up to the hedgehog and performs his Demon Flip, grabbing Shadow by his shoulders and throwing him straight into the ground, before leaping into the air and smashing his fist into the ground, sending a massive shockwave of power throughout the area. The sheer power of this strike was strong enough to create a crater right there and then, but unfortunately for Akuma, Shadow was able to dodge last second and get back to his feet.

Shadow: "You're tougher than I thought, I'll give you that. But now it's time for me to show you just what I'm made of!"

Shadow removes his Inhibitor Rings, a surge of power going straight through him as he dashed straight towards Akuma. Akuma barely had any time to react as he was met with three Chaos Spears to the chest, impaling him with energy. As bad as it hurt, Akuma was able to ignore it and dodge the upcoming Chaos Spears, leaping at Shadow with another Demon Flip in an attempt to palm strike him. Shadow, using his newfound speed and strength, dodges Akuma's attack and kicks him into the air, before quickly teleporting after him and performing devastating aerial comboes on the demon, before using a Chaos Spear to stun Akuma again mid-air.

Shadow: "Chaos Control!"

Time had immediately frozen then, giving Shadow the perfect time to place Chaos Spears around Akuma. Just as he had snapped his fingers and reversed the time snap, Akuma was bombarded by the six Chaos Spears, before being greeted with a kick that slammed him straight into the ground hard. Shadow teleports back towards where Akuma was, before attempting to strike him down with one final aerial kick. However, just as Shadow was about to do this, a massive energy wave shoots off from Akuma, launching Shadow away and protecting Akuma as the demonic rival of Ryu got back to his feet. He was no longer just your average Akuma, but he was glowing pink and white: He had now become Shin Akuma.

Akuma: "My fists bleed death! Welcome to your doom!"

Shadow: "About time he stopped playing around. Let's see what you got."

Shadow rushes up to Akuma and throws a strike at him, Shin Akuma matching Shadow's strike perfectly. The two began trading blows on par before Shadow throws a mistimed kick, giving Akuma the perfect opportunity to strike Shadow with a perfectly timing Shoryuken to his chin, breaking Shadow's jaw as the hedgehog was sent flying upwards. Akuma then leaps into the air and performs an EX Hurricane Kick, spinning around violently in the air repeatidely, comboing Shadow around. Just as Akuma was about to strike Shadow down, the hedgehog quickly teleports behind Akuma and kicks him away, sending the demon flying into the ground as Shadow teleports after him once more. Akuma, now BEYOND enraged, gets back up immediately and proceeds to shoot rapid fire Hadokens at Shadow, the hedgehog countering out two of them with Chaos Spears but three catching him off guard and knocking him away. The two proceed to stare each other down, both having malicious intent in their eyes.

Shadow: "It's time to end this!"

Akuma: "You're not worthy to defeat me, runt! DIE ONE THOUSAND DEATHS!"

Akuma glows with energy and begins to "teleport" towards Shadow, performing his infamous Raging Demon technique. Just as Akuma was coming in close and preparing to grab Shadow, 7 Chaos Emeralds proceed to glow around Shadow and transform him into Super Shadow. Immediately after turning into Super Shadow, the rival of Sonic dodges Akuma's Raging Demon attack with ease and punches Akuma hard in the back with an Chaos energy infused punch, causing Akuma for once to shriek in pain from the sheer power of Shadow's punch. Shadow then continues this by striking Akuma twice more, each punch doing more and more devastating damage to Akuma due to his poor defense. From the blows alone, Akuma stumbled around, confused and dazed, his vision starting to glow blurry from Shadow's blow.

Shadow: "Now's my chance."

Super Shadow leaps into the air and slams Akuma into the ground with a kick to the skull, making Akuma's vision go even blurrier as the demon was slammed into the ground. Soon after, Shadow proceeds to perform his Spin Dash on Akuma, practically drilling into Akuma like a buzzsaw as blood was being spilled everywhere. Just when Akuma thought this couldn't get any worse, Shadow did one last move.

Shadow: "Chaos....BLAST!"

Super Shadow proceeds to explode with pure energy, creating a massive explosion that covered most of the island with it. When the remains were clear, only two things could be seen: Shadow's explosion had turned him back to normal, but as for Akuma? He was nothing more than a pile of ashes on the floor, his ashes immediately being stomped on by Shadow's foot.

Shadow: "You didn't stand a chance."

KO!

Results[]

Boomstick: Damn...I know Akuma's a cheap bastard, but not even he deserved a death as painful as that! Ouch...

Wiz: This was an odd match to put it lightly. In base form, while Shadow was much faster being at FTL speeds while Akuma was only around Hypersonic, Akuma completely dominated him in every other category. Shadow's strong enough to throw buses one handed and take out an army of robots, but this was nothing compared to Akuma's feet of destroying an island with just a single punch. And in terms of durability, while Akuma's defense is rather poor, he's still been able to survive blows from Ryu and Ken and the fact he survived his island destroying punch without a scratch proves he can easily take whatever Shadow throws at him and dish it back even worse.

Boomstick: But the biggest keyword is "Base" form, 'cause you see...as soon as Shadow went super, the tables IMMEDIATELY turn. Instead of Akuma being the one destroying Shadow, it was Shadow who was now the one destroying Akuma! In this form, Shadow's planet level strength practically OBLITERATES Akuma's island destroying strength.

Wiz: And let's not forget, with his 1000% power increase, his durability becomes far too high for Akuma to take down and his speed overshadows Akuma's even more. Even if Akuma went Shin Akuma or Oni, the difference wouldn't have mattered: Super Shadow was far too strong for Akuma to handle. And while Akuma COULD potentially kill Shadow, Super or not, with the Raging Demon, he'd have to catch Shadow first, and considering how much Shadow dwarfs Akuma in speed, that defintely wasn't gonna happen. As soon as Super Shadow came out, Akuma was practically a goner.

Boomstick: Looks like Akuma was over-Shadowed in this fight.

Wiz: The winner is Shadow the Hedgehog.

Advantages and Disadvantages[]

SHADOW - WINNER:

  • +Stronger
  • +MASSIVE Speed advantage
  • +Much more durable
  • +Super Shadow practically guranteed the win
  • -Outclassed in base form besides speed

AKUMA - LOSER:

  • +Stomped Shadow in base form besides speed
  • -Weaker
  • -Not as durable
  • -Much slower
  • -Was doomed when Super Shadow came into play
