Aganos vs Astaroth is a What-If?Death Battle by LakuitaBro01.2
Description:[]
Killer Instinct vs Soul Calibur! Two greek war golems will march to the ends of the Earth to finish the mission their creators gave them! Will Aganos crush Astaroth under the weight of his mighty stone body? Or will the Black Giant turn the golem to dust?
Interlude:[]
Wiz: War has been a constant throughout all civilizations, and all civilizations have put themselves on a path to be the strongest power the world has to offer.
Boomstick: In the magical land of Greece, where the valleys dip low and the GDP is lower, they valued the myths of the Gods and built many constructs to adore them.
Wiz: They always turned their faith onto Ares, and in the case of today's combatants, they had the weapons to help them.
Boomstick: Aganos, the Ancient War Golem to find the mythical Babylonian Sand Man.
Wiz: And Astaroth, the Soldier of the Heretics.
Boomstick: He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skill to see who would win a Death Battle.
Aganos:[]
Wiz: Thousands of years ago, a nightmarish entity named Gargos was spawned from the Astral Plane, rampaging with a tyrannical fist across the dimension and killing those who oppose him. Every time he'd try to break past the dimensional barriers, the benevolent beings known as the Ichoriens would stop him.
Boomstick: Like the story of Prometheus minus the eternal damnation, the Ichoriens sent spirits to aid the human warriors, and some would even bless humans with the power of the Astrals. Eventually going full Stalin, Gargos would commit genocide on the Ichoriens save for one.
Wiz: Trapped in a soul gem, the last Ichorien was sent to Earth by Gargos, meant to be long forgotten. Luckily, the Astral Spirits and left over Guardians sealed Gargos by himself with no means of escaping, which gave the last Ichorien plenty of time to prepare.
Boomstick: Unluckily for Caspar, the gem he was sealed in was the Eye of the Ancients and was promptly attached to a massive stone golem by the people of Mycenae. Like a bong at a stoner's potluck, the golem was passed from war lord to war lord as a symbol of power.
Wiz: The golem eventually found its way into the hands of a Babylonian King who had taught it the values of life and nature, eventually giving it the first name its ever had: Aganos.
Boomstick: Ah, Aganos. Such an angry sounding name, get it just means gentle. Which is pretty ironic as the golem is the furthest thing from being gentle in a fight!
Wiz: As a being made from the Earth, Aganos' stone body has definitely seen better days. Despite its looks, Aganos is actually rather flexible.
Boomstick: It can contort its body into a bowling ball, turning it into Indiana Jones' worst nightmare.
Wiz: Turn into a ball, spin the upper half of its body 360 degrees, and much more. The creators of the golem did everything in their power to make sure their creation could stand the test of time.
Boomstick: Good ol' Aganos has even employed the techniques of the modern day to beat the shit out of his archnemesis Kan-Ra. Throwing out haymakers, the people's elbow, and even pulling out the asian mist with solid rock and just blowing chunks all over him.
Wiz: Speaking of... er, "blowing chunks", Aganos' body is in need of constant repair due to its constant shedding of material. To remedy this, Aganos can scoop chunks of earth into its body. Doing so will make the golem heavier and slow it down considerably, but it will allow Aganos to tank hits without slowing down.
Boomstick: That's not even the most of what the possessed garden ornament can do with the Earth it collects. It can box in its foes using walls or create a cage match that no one would wants to be a part of. While it does lack in range, Aganos could make up the difference by grabbing one of its walls and turning it into a massive stone club.
Wiz: Ironically named the Peacemaker, the club is really nothing special. It breaks after just a couple hits, but as long as Aganos has Earth to pull from, it can keep pulling the Peacemaker to help it out.
Boomstick: Speaking of pulling things together, even if Aganos' body is destroyed, as long as the Eye of the Ancients is intact, it can create a makeshift body on the spot, even if it's not as structurally sound.
Wiz: Aganos by himself is on par with several other characters in Killer Instinct. Namely Glacius who froze an entire lake near instantly, a feat that would require 11 gigatons of TNT, and also impaled ARIA in a nanosecond.
Boomstick: And while we said Aganos can just keep making bodies as long as its soul gem stays intact, it doesn't mean the golem's kaput when it gets shattered. The inner Ichorien would finally be able to break free and fight by itself.
Wiz: As an Ichorien, Aganos is directly comparable to Gargos' final form, which dispersed over 6000 kilometers of clouds with a portal in an instant with its shockwave alone, equating to about 36 exatons of force.
Boomstick: Hell, Gargos' might has been compared to the destruction of stars! And Aganos ripped his soul out, manhandled him, and dragged his ass back to the Shadow realm!
Wiz: However Aganos is not without faults. Its constantly in-need-of-repair body puts a real hindrance on it, and having too many chunks on it at one time can make it move at a snails pace.
Boomstick: But when you're built like the Rock of Ages with a spirit form as a back up, there's nothing to worry about. Especially if you don't even know the emotion.
Astaroth:[]
Wiz: According to legend, a nameless blacksmith was tasked to create an ordinary two-handed sword. Used in many wars over many years, the blood, hatred, and death seeped into the steel that was used to create it, giving it a will completely on it's own. The Hero King Algol's indomitable will overpowered the dark desires of the sword.
Boomstick: This evil fuckin thing was called the Soul Edge, and Algol was the only one capable of wielding it without Ron Pearlman whispering in his ear constantly to "kill everyone". Algol's son Arcturus, however, was jealous of daddy's power and plotted to steal the blade for himself.
Wiz: After stealing the Soul Edge, Algol was forced to fight his corrupted son and eventually break the Soul Edge, killing the prince in the process. Heartbroken, Algol enlisted the help of a sage to purify the fragments of Soul Edge and then create the Soul Calibur.
Boomstick: But the demon sword was still at large due to its demonic form haunting the Astral Plane, and many years into the future another father-son tussle was brewing. This time in Greece! Ares desired to overthrow his father Zeus, so HE got the help of a cult known as the Fygul Cestemus to create a golem. This golem was known as Astaroth.
Wiz: While the cult leader, Kunpaetku, planned on keeping the Soul Edge for himself and become a god in his own right, Ares had possessed Astaroth with his servants the Keres. This would lead to Astaroth leaving a path of destruction as he struggled for control over his own life.
Boomstick: Imagine the destruction a toddler can cause. Now imagine the destruction a 7 year old power Golem with a massive axe and the taste for war can do to an entire temple when he's done storming it!
Wiz: Astaroth is a massively powerful creation. Using his amazing strength, Astaroth is capable of throwing around knights in heavy armor as if they were nothing.
Boomstick: The most impressive stuff he's capable of is with his trusty great axe! His personal favorite is the Kulutues! Given to him at birth, this bad boy is super durable and lets him do some crazy stuff with it.
Wiz: Astaroth's fighting style is based almost entirely on massive swings and grapples. He can use his axe to hook his foe and bring them in close for a pile driver, lariat, and more.
Boomstick: Like an ancient Greek wrestler this angry golem craves back breakers like he craves souls!
Wiz: Astaroth also has a couple of other axes at his disposal with their own special properties. Like the Terror Moon axe, which goes through the opponent's guard, and Nanbanfu increases the power of Astaroth's strikes at the cost of taking damage for guarding attacks.
Boomstick: He does have one ability outside of his brute strength and child-like behavior and that's the ability to steal the Souls of his opponents!
Wiz: And because of that child-like behavior, it can get him killed.
Boomstick: While he did die in the second game, Astaroth had come back to life infused with shards of the Soul Edge, granting him an exponential power boost. The being Abyss, who had the full might of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur caused an eclipse by releasing his power.
Wiz: While there was no exact time frame given, the bare minimum required for a feat like this to occur is 30 exatons. If we were to split this number in half, and presumed "fragment of Soul Edge" meant a third of the power, that would put Astaroth at 5 exatons of TNT, enough to obliterate several continents.
Boomstick: Thanks to his mighty thunder thighs, Astaroth is also fast enough to keep pace with ye ol' bullet timers and Taki who once out ran an explosion.
Wiz: Yet Astaroth does have his fair share of weaknesses, such as he's almost always blinded by rage and his craving for souls can be a distraction. Plus, due to being less than a decade old and the golem physiology he possesses... he's kind of an idiot.
Boomstick: But when you're 7 feet tall, full of muscle, and have an axe that screams "shove it", you don't need smarts as long as you know how to paint the walls with blood.
Death Battle:[]
Deep in the underbelly of Fygul Cestemus' Temple
"So. This 'Soul Edge' you speak of grants unimaginable power to the wielder and makes them a god?"
A very old, decrepit, corpse-looking man named Kan-Ra stood cockeyed over a podium, reading a scripture. Another man, named Kunpaetku stood to his right, looking over the scripture as well, along with eye balling the living corpse next to him.
"Why... yes. I have seen and heard many tales of the Soul Edge used by warlords. The Hero King Algol had used it to unite the entire world under his rule, brining about an era of peace."
This intrigued the ancient sorcerer. Perhaps this would be his ticket to absolute power over the pathetic species known as "mankind". He delicately closed the scripture, and looked around the temple cautiously.
"It's here."
Kunpaetku looked around his surroundings but saw nothing. He took note of Kan-Ra suddenly going stiff and muttering something under his breath. Suddenly, from somewhere in the temple, screams of agony erupted, putting Kunpaetku on edge. Both men stood back to back facing opposite corners of the room. On Kan-Ra's end, a massive golem busted through the wall.
Kan-Ra recognized it immediately. His eternal archnemesis Aganos. The golem stood at 8 feet tall, had moss growing all around it, and had its eyes locked directly onto the ancient sorcerer.
On the other side of the room, where the only exit was, another golem walked down the steps towards Kunpaetku, covered in blood and guts. This golem was Astaroth, and he had a particular issue with his creator.
Both of the massive creatures charged their enemies at the same time. Kan-Ra grabbed Kunpaetku by his collar and pulled him in close.
"I still have a use for you..."
And with that the duo teleported away as the two golems crashed into each other. Astaroth fell to the ground while Aganos stumbled slightly. The stone golem groaned and began to walk away, but the angry golem got up to his feet and stomped the ground repeatedly in frustration.
"YOU DID THIS!" he roared at the top of his lungs.
Aganos stopped in its tracks and slowly turned towards Astaroth, who was staring down the rock formation with murderous intent.
"You RUINED my chance for revenge!"
The stone golem seemed to shake its head as it turned to climb through the hole it created to get into the chamber. Astaroth, however, wasn't done as he broke out into a full sprint towards Aganos.
"You BASTARD!"
It froze and turned as Astaroth caught it in a flying tackle, sending the duo sprawling onto the floor of another chamber. Aganos stood up and faced its new foe with determination plastered on its stony face.
Awaken - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
The child-like side of Astaroth showed through as he joyously smashed the floor over and over with his axe, uprooting the very Earth around them.
"Fun! Fun! I will make you bleed!"
FIGHT!
Astaroth swung his mighty axe down onto Aganos, but the latter caught the blade in its hand. The axe broke through the stone partially, but the ancient was still able to grab it and throw out a massive punch to Astaroth's gut. The Heretic responded with thrusting his axe further into his foe, slicing a couple of fingers off of its hand.
"Blood! Blood! Where is the blood!" Astaroth screamed.
Groaning, the Aganos grabbed headbutt its foe directly in the face. Astaroth shook the blow off, but Aganos quickly pivoted on his body, slamming his fists into the Soldier and floored him. He laid on the ground for a second looking up at the ceiling, rage building up inside of him. He bellowed a roar and jumped to his feet, grabbing the stone golem by the waist and attempting to lift it up, but he couldn't.
"WHY CAN'T I LIFT YOU?!" he yelled.
He did take not that it looked as though Aganos' chest cavity was looking more full. The stone golem silently grabbed Astaroth by the neck and tossed him up and then proceeded to catch him in the stomach with a haymaker, launching him through the massive stone wall of the chamber. Aganos slowly turned and began to walk away again, but its angry opponent ran right up behind it and swiped it up in the air with an axe blow.
Not used to being up in the air, Aganos flailed slightly as Astaroth swung the axe down directly on top of it, scattering chunks of Earth across the floor. The golem shielded itself from the onslaught as the axe took more and more of its body away from it. It was able to swat the axe away with its massive arm, but Astaroth tossed it aside himself and grabbed the golem by the legs.
Around and around he spun as Aganos was now light enough to be tossed around, and tossed it was as Astaroth let it go flying into the far wall, cracking the shoulder piece it possessed. The golem slowly stood and collected chunks of the Earth, literally piecing itself back together as the Heretic watched.
"You put yourself back together! Weak! You are easily broken!" the massive infant screamed as he charged Aganos once more.
The mighty golem groaned and curled into a massive boulder, launching itself right at the charging brute, Astaroth tried to catch the attack but got flattened as Aganos smashed into him. It kept rolling as its foe shook off the blow, slowly changing course for another pass. As the big boulder lined up, Astaroth held his axe behind him, building up power.
Aganos catapulted tiself right at Astaroth, but the latter was prepared. With a massive swipe upwards, Astaroth sent his foe into the ceiling where it got stuck.
"Get down here and fight me!" he screamed, tossing his weapon aside in anger.
He was completely oblivious to his surroundings. While he was shouting in anger, four walls sprouted up around him. Aganos got itself free and fell from the ceiling. Astaroth smiled in anticipation and gripped his... weapon? He looked for it and then noticed the massive stone walls. Before it could register in his mind, the massive stone golem dropped directly on him with a people's elbow.
The force of the impact immediately crumbled the walls around them and shook the entire chamber. The stone golem stood up and brushed the debris off of it and began to march away.
"HEY!" a blood curdling voice screamed. A thick, meaty hand grabbed Aganos by the back of the head and yanked it back. Astaroth had survived the attack and seemed to have some sort of a power boost, and he was now wielding the Terror Moon axe.
"You're DEAD!"
With increased speed, Astaroth delivered a hefty kick to the backside of his foe and swung the massive axe. It threw its guard up quickly, but the axe ripped off a massive chunk of its body as a result. It seemed bewildered at the outcome, but couldn't think about it too hard as another attack was going right for its face. The golem ducked the attack and rammed its massive stone arm into the stomach of the Heretic, but it hardly phased him.
He reached right through the attack and grabbed at the Golem's arm, grabbing and tossing it to the side. The behemoth barely had time to react as the blade of the Terror Moon embedded itself directly in its abdomen.
"GRRGH!"
The big ol' bastard grunted as he lifted Aganos straight up in the air on the blade of his axe, tossing it halfway across the room with a earth shaking thud. The stone golem slowly rose to its feet as Astaroth was seething in anger and was just out of breath from hoisting that heavy of a weight. Astaroth took one step forward as Aganos shot out a chunk of earth and punched it, spraying splinters of rock across the room like a shotgun. Some stones got caught in his skin, which he shrugged off and charged forward.
A massive hand wrapped around his head and chucked him off to the side. Aganos quickly put itself back together as its angry foe was stunned by the throw. He finally shook off the blow and turned back towards the massive golem and gripped the axe hard, splintering the wood on the handle.
Astaroth leaped at Aganos and swung his axe downwards, to which the sentient rock formation sidestepped the attack and delivered a hefty lariat to its foe's abdomen followed by a flick to the head. Before Astaroth could recover, Aganos rolled into a ball and smashed into him repeatedly before launching him straight up into the air. The 7' toddler swung the axe down towards Aganos once more...
C-C-C-COUNTER BREAKER
But the golem caught the blade and hit its foe with a haymaker, cracking something and flooring him. As Astaroth slowly got to his knees, Aganos slammed the ground, causing a rain of debris to crash down upon its foe, bruising his back and slamming his head. After a couple seconds of rock fall, Astaroth bellowed in anger and erupted out of the pile.
"ENOUGH!"
He threw his weapon to the side and rushed Aganos, throwing himself right on top of it. He resorted to barehanded punching the golem's stone face, which clearly phased it. He reached for the Eye of the Ancients but was stopped as Aganos slammed the front of its body into a wall, stunning Astaroth and preventing him from grabbing anything.
However, the brute kicked off the wall and knee'd Aganos in the head, causing it to stumble onto the floor and land on its back. He proceeded to dig into a nearby tomb and took his new axe: Nanbanfu. Without missing a beat, he spun around to bring the axe down onto Aganos' face, but the stone golem was prepared with a weapon of its own: the Peacemaker.
The Peacemaker slammed into Astaroth's side as the Nanbanfu dug into Aganos'. The stone golem's instinct had activated at the right time as the Peacemaker kept breaking over Astaroth's head, much to the giant's chagrin. The oversized elementary student rushed towards Aganos and shoulder checked it, pushing it further away. He then slammed the floor with his axe, causing the golem to fall down on its hindquaters.
Charging the giant, Astaroth was not at a pace where he could just stop moving. So Aganos gripped the Peacemaker and chucked it hard across the room, slamming Astaroth's temple. Stunned, the stone golem curled into a boulder and launched itself right at its foe, running him over and slamming on his head. He wasn't down, however, as he reached for a root of the golem and gripped it, dragging it back towards him.
Aganos' body swiveled on its pelvis, bashing Astaroth across the face with the Peacemaker, but the blood shot eyes of the soldier didn't even blink at the pain as he pried at the head of Aganos, trying to rip it off. Trying to swat the flesh giant away, Aganos gripped his head in its massive palm, forcing its finger in through his eye and gouging it out. He only grunted in pain and anger as he pulled harder.
Aganos let out a groan and yanked Astaroth off of it by the head, causing part of his skull to cave in as he crashed to the floor. The stone golem walked over and grabbed Astaroth by the head and prepared to swing the massive Peacemaker right at his neck, but suddenly a surge of power erupted from its foe, forcing Aganos to be pushed away as it shielded itself from the light.
It hardly had time to lower its guard as the Nanbanfu sliced its leg clean in half. The golem took a tumble to the floor, shaking the temple itself as Astaroth took a running leap and slammed the Nanbanfu into his enemy's chest, sending it to the furthest reaches of the temple below. Raging water flooded around the stage as Aganos was caught in a free fall to the floor.
It bounced, sending chunks of itself cascading around and into the river as Astaroth came down from above stomping right through Aganos' chest cavity. Astaroth's newfound strength let him finally rip the golem's head off of it and toss it into the river. He roared in victory, but immeditaely after Aganos just reemerged from the water in a new makeshift body. It was already falling apart, but it was still fast enough to land a blow into Astaroth's stomach.
Hardly phased, Astaroth simply threw Aganos back into the water, but the golem relented and kept going for its foe in a new body each time. Finally, the toddler had enough and gripped his foe by the neck.
"WHY DO YOU KEEP COMING BACK?!!"
Astaroth headbutt the golem, slightly harming himself due to his head injury, and looked through the cracks. There he saw the Eye of the Ancients staring right back at him.
"IS THIS THE SOURCE OF YOUR POWER?! PATHETIC! THE SOUL EDGE POWERS ME! A WEAK LITTLE STONE IS NOTHING!"
He punched his arm into the golem and ripped the Eye out, immediately causing the body to crumble. He threw it on the ground and began to stomp on it repeatedly, slowly cracking it.
"Die. Die. Die. DIE!"
Eventually the eye burst open and a torrent of energy shot through the roof of the room, and in its placed descended Aganos' true form: The Ichorien within.
Yhorm The Giant - Dark Souls 3
"Astaroth! The Soldier of the Heretics!" the massive figure bellowed.
The flesh giant stomped his foot out of anger, but for the first time in his life he felt just an ounce of fear.
"The scribblings on this temple's vast halls tell of the Astral Plane, and an object known as the Soul Edge."
The Ichorien stared down Astaroth as he gripped his axe hard.
"Let us finish this..."
Aganos swooped down and grabbed its foe by the neck, flying through room after room using Astaroth as a battering ram. The soldier struggled helplessly as the swings of his axe hardly made an impact on the Ichoriens skin. The spirit changed course and flew up through the roof of the temple, holding Astaroth by the neck as they ascended.
As a last ditch effort, Astaroth reached for the eyes of the the Ichorien and tried to press them in, but his fingers hardly pushed into its eyes. Like a match out of the super bowl, Aganos threw Astaroth down onto the temple, collapsing the entirety of it in the impact of the explosion.
All he saw were stars, and a single bright figure descending down upon him. They looked each other in the eyes as Aganos reached inside of Astaroth and pulled his shard of the Soul Edge out of his chest and crushed it. Astaroth immediately felt weaker, and slumped to his knees. The Ichorien wasn't done, however, as it reached through the rubble and grabbed Astaroth's own axe and swung it at him. Bisecting him through the waist. The two halves of Astaroth fell over and the giant's own soul rose out of the body and to the heavens.
"To Hades you GO!" Aganos roared as it grabbed the ankle of its foe and threw it through the Earth's crust. The soul of Astaroth screamed the whole way down and eventually his voice disappeared.
Aganos stared at the scene and towards the horizon. Kan-ra was out there somewhere

Boomstick: Talk about an out of body experience. Wiz, I think we need to be stoned for this one.
Wiz: Astaroth was a VERY formidable foe. The different functions of his weaponry could keep Aganos on its toes and the initial strength advantage meant Aganos' body could only take so much damage before it was lights out for the golem.
Boomstick: Thankfully Aganos' biggest advantage aside from being able to keep his body together was speed. Astaroth is able to keep up with bullet timers and characters who can outpace explosions, but Aganos can react to lightning timers. At the bare minimum, the STONE GOLEM is about a THOUSAND times faster. Even comparing the two's skill, Astaroth has the literal mind of a seven year old where as Aganos is a veteran of the war against Troy!
Wiz: One clean hit would spell doom for it, but things change when the Ichorien is brought it. As Aganos was able to manhandle Gargos in his final form, he should be superior to the portal opening feat, a feat that requires 36 exatons of force.
Boomstick: Which completely dwarfs Astaroth's estimated 5 exaton power output. Even if we compared him to the full might of Abyss, Aganos would still be stronger by 6 exatons. If that's not enough, Gargos is described to have power that destroys STARS on two occassions.
Wiz: And to spell doom for Astaroth, Aganos' Ichorien form lets it create portal too and from the Astral Plane and rip the souls out of the bodies of others. Even if Astaroth mustered enough power to hurt the Ichorien, it wouldn't stop it from taking the fragment of the Soul Edge from Astaroth's body.
Boomstick: So without his built in power source, the not-so-gentle giant was kind of screwed.
Wiz: Astaroth is a disturbingly brutal foe, but he just simply couldn't match up to Aganos' superior experience, speed, and strength.
Boomstick: Astaroth should of quit while he pulled a head, but the heat of the competition caused him to burn up in the underworld.
Wiz: The winner is Aganos.
