Connections:

-Both of their stories began with them being taken in by someone who acted not only as a mentor to hone their skills (Donnie with ninjitsu and Luz with magic) but also acted as a parental figure (Master Splinter and Eda Clawthorne. Master Splinter taking in Donatello and his brothers to raise in the sewers of New York after they were all transformed by the Mutagen and Luz being taken in by Eda in the Owl House after Luz got stuck in the Demon Realm)

-Their both idealistic teenagers (Luz is like 14 in her debut episode) who were initially considered outcasts amongst the people (Donnie because he and his brothers were mutants and humans were scared of mutants while Luz was initially considered an outcast amongst her peers due to her interest in magic)

-They both have an interest in studying/reading books in their spare time,and have fought against their respective antagonist who hide their faces behind a mask and wish to destroy mutants/witches,even mutating themselves in order to do so (The Shredder and Emperor Belos,with the Shredder becoming Super Shredder by dowsing himself in Mutagen,albeit in some continuities while Emperor Belos becoming a monster by taking Titan blood)

-Their both staff users,with an interesting contrast being that Donatello fights with technology while Luz fights with magic so there's that.

-They also both have mystical/magic super forms they gained near the end of their journey they used to take down the villain of their series (Donatello's Dragon Form,alongside his brothers to defeat Tengu Shredder and Luz' Titan Form to defeat Emperor Belos)

-They were also assisted in the battle against their respectives villains by the villains' right hand,who eventually rebelled and joined their side (Karai,in some continuities has joined the Turtles' side to stand against the Shredder as well as Hunter defecting from Belos' control and joining Luz' and her friends)

-They both have "died" and came back as different species before returning to their original bodies/form (Luz as a Titan and if you wanna go further in the continuity of the TMNT,Donatello was "killed" and his consciousness was put into Metalhead in the IDW Comics)

The connections are essentially just two duos consisting of a hyperactive and talkative protagonist (Deadpool and Sonic),with a more gruff and violent anti-hero by their side.

It's essentially just 2v2 Death Battle with both side having characters that basically just capitalize the Class Clown and the Quiet Kid.
