So, yeah. I hit a wall with Monstrous, so I redid it. Well, here are the changes.
First off, I got rid of "High Mythology" aspect of the series. Originally, there was this whole absurd plot that involved various pantheons of mythology, and while I loved the idea at first, I began to hate it very shortly after I started writing it. Using so many different mythologies is a horrible idea. So, so many things contradict, and that leads to plot holes.
Next, I got rid of several characters. The Graveyard Shift, in a sense, no longer exists. I scrapped two of the team members, as fitting them into the story was far too difficult after a while. I also annihilated Arizona's team, save for one member.
Arizona also plays a much larger role in the story this time around, and I also got rid of Felix's whole "lol so weak" role. Which means, Felix is now just as strong as most would expect a series protagonist to be. Powerful enough to win more times than not, rather than him constantly losing battles and needing his team to pull him out of trouble.
I also got rid of the whole Tethering Power Multipliers aspect, as that was annoying and everyone hated it.
One of the larger changes, involves Lexington. Now, rather than being tethered after Felix, she tethered before him. And, she is no longer tethered to a siren. Lexi is now the vampire tether. Why? Using a siren gives her character a sexual overtone which is one, not only difficult to write, but also rather offensive as no other character had to be written in such a way. Also, Sirens only have like, one power. So I had to make up A LOT of shit so that she could have abilities and be fun or interesting to write.
On Felix's end, his personality has changed. He's no longer as cowardly as he was before, now just cautious. The first chapter has also been changed drastically, and so as to prevent ruining the whole point of the first chapter, I won't tell about it.
As for what the story will focus on now? The universe hopping is still a big thing. Next, as for what kind of nasty monsters one can expect to show up, Expect North American Cryptids and European Classical Monsters. As for main villains? Mainly Gothic Literature characters. The Eldritch and Moth Man are still the main big bads, so don't worry, Moth Man's still around. (He seems to be very popular, so... yeah, of course he'd stick around.)
Expect more original villains and heroes now.
As for power scaling, The main cast got some minor buffs, but more debuffs in most departments. Somehow, Moth Man and Eldritch got higher into Tier 1, like they did last time.
(I fucking swear, everytime I rewrite the cosmology of the series, Moth Man jumps up a tier, and Eldritch get more cemented into 1-A)
And finally, Expect the new, and first actual canon chapter when I return in August.
