In Regards to to Rules being Restrictive:
The rules that are on this Wikia are in place to PREVENT issues and problems that would arise from otherwise harmless subjects and topics that the rules pertain to. We've already allowed a variety of things before until a problem arose from them and escalated to the degree that a rule was ultimately required in order to handle the issue and get the topic under control.
The rules don't at all restrict any form of creativity that the Users have and you're not at all the first person to claim that either. If the view that the rules are restrictive is believed, no offense, but the people who have the belief clearly don't want to be bothered to read the rules since, more often than not, those who make that claim are the ones that break them and get mad when they get in trouble for doing so. Since no one else has complained about the rules before and has exercised enough common sense and understanding to see why a given rule is in place and why the issue that spawned the rule is a problem, this one is no different.
People have been able to go about making whatever battles they so desire, regardless of the existence of the blacklist or the Rules & Guidelines either as pages on Wikia or as Blog Posts. No one is prevented from doing the battles that they so desire, especially when most people often message a staff member, whether it's a Moderator or Adminstrator, to see if a certain page is doable, and more often than not, we say yes, and even when we DO say no, we add that the page in question can be done on a Blog Post.
No one AT ALL is restricted on this Wikia and the Notion that people are is honestly ridiculous especially when even with the Blacklist (Which is often VERY specific and requires Common Sense being exercised), people still are able to do the Match-Ups they often want to do.
In Regards to the Fanon:
Your claim that we don't have to follow what the Original did is honestly hypocritical because the original set did exactly what you said (combined an entire race into one character) that we should be allowing, while the entire point of the rule is to make it clear that we do NOT allow that. How are you going to say that we shouldn't follow what the show did and then claim that we should do what the show did in Regards to Races?
Regardless of whether we're a Fanon or Not, as you said, we're not obligated to do everything that DEATH BATTLE did but that also doesn't mean that we can do whatever we want just because of the simple fact that we're not the official DEATH BATTLE team. We have an outline that was provided by the show, a set of rules for DEATH BATTLE (irrespective of whether they follow their own rules or not), and everyone on this Wikia follows it to the letter while doing the research that they need to on the characters that they pit against one another.
The Rules of the Death Battle Fanon Wikia are meant to enable people to go about that in a way that allows them to write the battles while also giving them a path in the PROPER ways that, along with following the Rules and Outline provided by the official show, but also allow them to deviate and go about it in their own unique ways such as doing types of Battles that the DB Team ever rarely do (Verse vs. Verse, Team vs. Team, and so on). This has been the case since the Wikia first started and has continued to do so; none of the new additions to the Rules have ever been made to work against that notion or belief and they've only ever been made in ways to help enable them to do so.
Irrelevancy of a Unifying Thread:
Then Goku should be allowed access to Ultra Ego (something he hasn't canonically tapped into or utilized) and Vegeta should be allowed access to Ultra Instinct (something he hasn't canonically tapped into or utilized) simply because they have a "Unifying Thread" that warrants them being composited in such a manner?
Then, should Freddy be allowed access to the abilities that Golden Freddy, Nightmare Freddy, Glamrock Freddy, and Nightmare Fredbear have because they have a Unifying Thread as well?
No offense but that claim borders on Fanfiction and Fan-Material by that point since it's effectively giving characters Abilities, Powers, Feats, and so on that they do not have, and essentially is one single large middle finger to Rule 18 which didctates no Fan-Made Content as research and this effectively borders on it.
If you want to do composite Species? Then honestly, I REALLY don't like saying this to users, but you're on the wrong Wikia if that is something that you want to explore in VS Debating. If that is something that you want to explore and delve into, then, as Almighty said, Deadliest Fiction is what you're looking for, because it's NOT something that DEATH BATTLE Fanon is going to do or enable with how much problem it causes and that stance isn't changing.
