Wiz: The streets of Tokyo are fairly normal, and you would not expect anything out of the ordinary to be happening. This is true, actually. The real world is painfully boring; sure there are the few crimes committed here and there, but nothing supernatural. You'd be forgiven for thinking everything was normal, but hiding beneath the surface of a certain academy named Shujin, everything was wrong.

Boomstick: Turns out, Shujin Academy had a bit of a problem with their gym teacher, Suguru Kamoshida. What, you may ask? Well, he's a bully, a womanizer, and a manipulator all in a single person! If only I could get my hands on him...

Wiz: Kamoshida terrorized everyone, from convincing the female students to sleep with him, to forcing the male students to a training so rigorous it was described as torture, and even convincing someone to try and go through with ending it all.

Boomstick: But mysteriously, one day, this douchebag changed his heart, apparently? Eh, he announced he was sorry to everyone, and confessed to all his crimes publicly in front of the school, begging to be taken into police custody. Bastard's lucky, to be honest.

Wiz: Though Suguru had left, the aftermath of his departure was extremely difficult to deal with, and many students were left with scars - both physically and emotionally. Due do this trauma, the board of Shujin elected to bring in a councilor for the student body.

(Cue Ideal and the Real)

Boomstick: And this guy is like, the coolest person I've ever seen! Laid back, handsome-looking, a great listener, and a snack lover; it's the one and only Takuto Maruki! Oh yeah bro, this guy is the shit! My favorite character in the entire game, to be honest.

Wiz: Boomstick, I didn't pick you for the kind to like the... shall we say, smarter characters?

Boomstick: Ohoho, well, he's one of the few exceptions! He's just... so frickin' cool man.

Wiz: Alright well, Boomstick does have a point. Maruki was popular with the students due to his smooth words and compassionate heart, always ready to listen to the needs of any young man, woman, or other that may need his guidance.

Boomstick: He's even already got himself a long-time customer in the form of this redhead chick named Kasumi Yoshizawa! Poor ol' Sumi has a lot of personal matters to vent, so Takuto is always glad to lend a hand where he can. Oh oh oh, he isn't just a councilor either! He's also a psientist! That is, a pseudo-scientist! He made it his public mission to study Cognition, basically an abstract idea of what you see as real.

Wiz: Woah, you're really going in-depth with the actual research this time aren't you? I'm glad! Makes my job somewhat easier. Yes, Takuto Maruki is very interested in the concept of Cognition, which is the idea that everyone perceives a certain reality. In short, nothing is "real" but everything is "true", the more people "see" something, the more they "believe" it, the more that thing will become true and actually exist. It is, quite admittedly, a very fascinating concept. Speaking of which, I've been meaning to get around to my own research on the metaphysical aspects of our reality-
