Greetings, and welcome to DBF Interviews! For our sixth episode, I'll interview someone who goes by many names; Le Meme Lord, The Man Who Sold The World, The Renegade Arsonist, The Soviet Onion Leader, but he's, of course, mainly known as HyperSsonic! So, without any further ado, let's begin!

Question: How did you think of your username?
Answer: Quite simple, really. Back when I was using the Wii U, I needed to come up with a Nintendo Network ID (NNID) and, at the time, my favorite character was Sonic the Hedgehog, and my favorite YouTuber was SSundee. And since Hyper Sonic was my favorite form of Sonic, I decided, hey, this is cool, and ended up naming it "hyperssonic".
Yes, all lowercased, but when I got to Fandom, I kept the username cause why not? And added the uppercases and made it "HyperSsonic"... even though SSundee's username had each "S" be uppercase, but it's allowed me to be a bit unique. And while I don't keep up with Sonic or SSundee as much as I used to anymore, this username has just become as iconic as my PFP, hence why it'll never change.

Question: When and how did you first stumble upon this wiki?
Answer: It was back in I think like August/September of 2019, I forget why but I was looking up Pepsiman VS Kool-Aid Man on Google and found the OMM fanon page for it, and it eventually led to me finding this place as well, and I just decided to stick around. The rest is history.
-
Question: Which other wikis are you a part of?
Answer: Only other one is the Death Battle Wiki due to being a mod, but other than that, I ain't really a part of anything else. I have randomly appeared on other wikis every so often (such as the Metal Gear wiki), but outside of that, nah. Though, I guess technically the DBX fanon? Haven't appeared there in like a year tho, however I might return eventually.
-
Question: What was your first real project on here?
Answer: Jon Moxley VS Trevor Philips... three damn times.
Cause we got the true beginning of mine back in 2019 with whatever that horrifying thing was in really shitty writing.
Then we got the 2020 remastered version where I had the goal of making it the longest fight on the wiki at the time (I did, but I ended up padding it out, hence why it was never added to the longest battles blog). Hell, I literally copy and pasted the analysis from the first one just to remake the fight into whatever it was back when, and it's funny how you could be reading the fight and could literally see me improving my writing skills.
Then we got the 2024 version where I've basically done a full blown reset of myself, as well as to do the MU the justice that it deserved as I had now gotten a good number of years worth of experience in writing.
-
Question: What is your favorite/least favorite MU?
Answer: Favorite MU, I got two of them now:
We got the classic Jon Moxley VS Trevor Philips (AEW VS GTA) cook I made, just like my username and my PFP, it's basically an iconic part of me that shall never go away. Also, it's just peak all around... if only pro wrestling lore didn't destroy it's chances of having a good debate. Oh, and also it involves the very epic man that is my favorite pro wrestler known as Jon Moxley, so yeah (and Trevor is also cool, yeah).
As for my other favorite MU, it's Venom Snake/Diamond Dogs VS The Doctor/Rhodes Island (Metal Gear VS Arknights), yet another MU I cooked up it is. Look, combining two of my favorite series into one is peak already, but now we got it including an entire war in it? And even my two favorite characters ever that are tied for first (Venom Snake/Big Boss and Wiš'adel) as well? AND EVEN A GENUINELY CLOSE DEBATE!? Yeah, it's peak fuckin' fiction. The only problem is that one side has to lose, but it's the price one must pay, I suppose.
As for least favorite? Uhhh... Goro Majima VS Trevor Philips or William Stryker VS Senator Armstrong, sure.
-
Question: What's a popular MU in the community that you can't stand?
Answer: Goro Majima VS Trevor Philips... how... how le fook do you have two characters that I like in an MU that is so shitty? It simplifies Majima to an unhealthy degree, focuses on Trevor for the connections, animation potential doesn't exist, neither does the debate, and some people want to see it because it could have Trevor act racist against Majima... even though Trevor canonically despises racists. Yeah, this MU needs to go die a fool's death.
-
Question: What is your favorite/least favorite battle/project you've made?
Answer: Favorite: Moxley VS Trevor (2024), easily. Finally, giving one of my two favorite MUs and my most wanted the justice it deserves, and it just felt fun to write it and everything. But outside of it, uhhh, I'd have to say Jetstream Sam VS Adam Taurus because it was also just really fun.
As for my least favorite battle? I guess Indiana Jones VS Lara Croft. Not because it's bad or anything, because trust me, I've written worse (those shall not be mentioned), but because of the amount of missed potential in it. I fuckin' wrote it in a single night, all because I was high off of motivation (listened to Bury the Light that entire night), but when I looked back at it, yeah, that wasn't a good thing. The fight itself was really short and the overall thing of it was just very underwhelming, might rewrite it eventually to make it better though.
-
Question: What is your favorite/least favorite battle/project on here in general?
Answer: Favorite is Moxley VS Trevor (2024) because writer's bias, bitch! But outside of my own bias, probably Sonic VS Giorno since it kinda gave me inspiration all those years ago when writing Moxley VS Trevor (2020). Oh, and Vegeta VS Luigi and Waluigi VS Shadow because they are beyond mortal comprehension (even though the second one still isn't finished yet, it's still peak nevertheless).
As for least favorite? I'm a spiteful fookin' bitch, so... Nah, nah, nah, I jest, I jest, I kid, I kid, I won't say the one I was thinking of saying. But, really, I don't really have a least favorite battle on here.
-
Question: What makes out a good battle to you?
Answer: Don't pad that shit out, I've learned from experience. Just get what you really want to see happen in the fight done, and keep the fighting at a good pace and not jumble it around at a rapid pace. You can change the pace, but do it in a natural way.
-
Question: What's your biggest hot take about anything related to Death Battle (if you have any)?
Answer: Sonic should've beaten Wally, Macho Man should've beaten Kool-Aid Man, and Raiden should've beaten Excalibur, end of story.
-
Question: What project of yours did you have/are you having the most fun working on?
Answer: Ok, this is a tough one, since I've really enjoyed writing a lot of them, but if I had to choose just one, maybe Sam VS Adam just because sword fights are already cool, but when you add in their personalities, you got yourself a really spicy fight that is fun as hell.
-
Question: What's your favorite moment in the community you've been a part of so far?
Answer: There's a lot of them, so I can't really say a specific one, but if I had to say one off the top of my head, it was the Kahoot game hosted by Professor Mewtwo for last year's awards, it was just fun to do. I would've done better if I weren't having to also do my job at McDonald's at that same damn time-
-
Question: Outside of Death Battle, what's your favorite piece of media (movie, series, game, book etc.)?
Answer: WWE/pro wrestling, Metal Gear, and Arknights. These are the main three for me, and I shall always love these series no matter what happens. Yeah, there are other series I like such as Sonic, but those three are my big ones. But my favorite movie has got to be Shrek, so there is that.
-
Special Question: Who gave you the nickname "Le Meme Lord"?
Answer: It was a good lass of mine who I've had an uhh... interesting history with. Currently, we are on good terms and are talking so that's good, but yeah, she was the one who gave me the nickname many years ago. Hell, the actual title she gave me is "Le Mémé Lord" (with "Mémé" being pronounced "meh"-"meh"), I've just simplified it to be normally done as "meme" since it was a lot easier to type than trying to find unique characters each time. But, hey, I like it that way, and I'm never gonna change. Even though I've gained some new nicknames like "The Man Who Sold The World", "The Shitpost Shitshow", "The Renegade", or "The Arsonist" or even "The Renegade Arsonist", I'm always Le Meme Lord in the end. So, yeah, got myself a W nickname and everything... and will get my hands on a thing formerly known as W soon enough...
