Wiz: Simon Henriksson. A 19 year old young man with a troubled mind. A mind like his is all but too common amongst people in his age demographic. His mind is almost…a world of its own.
Boomstick: Well, that’s because it is. Growing up, Simon seems to have been stunted socially in some way. He describes himself as “being alone his whole life”. This could partially be due to his mother. He lived in Kirkville with his mother, who so happened to be overprotective.
Wiz: This could explain his social issues. Nonetheless, Simon has always struggled with issues his whole life. Namely, anxiety and depression. This is, at least what his doctor, Prunell, has stated before. This most likely was a result of his loneliness.
Boomstick: Simon was also known to do terrible things to himself. He not only did drugs, mainly injecting himself with things like morphine through a needle, but he has also been seen with multiple cut marks, showing that he most likely inflicted harm on himself. This was most likely because of his mental conditions.
Wiz: In college, Simon finally found someone. Someone that could possibly make him less lonely. A girl named Sophie. He helped her with her issues, even if no other guy did.
Boomstick: This eventually grew into attraction on Simon’s end. A college lover…wonder how that turned out?
Wiz: He asked her out and she…rejected him. He tried again and she…rejected him again. Depending on what you chose in the story, Sophie is either killed, or kept alive.
Boomstick: So uh, what do you mean “chose”?
Wiz: Well, let us begin. This all really started after he got wheelchair-bound due to a hit-and-run attempting to help a man. With this, Simon became an even more resentful, self-loathing person. Doctor Prunell was assigned to him, and asked Simon to write his feelings in a book. And that is exactly what Simon did.
Boomstick: The entire game is set place within the mind of Simon himself. It starts with Simon waking up in an alleyway after being hit by a car. He receives a message from his mother telling him to come home quickly. And then he gets attacked by a monster-man-hammer hybrid motherfucker. He stabs the fella to death and then gets ANOTHER message, this time from a mysterious man…
Wiz: The man tells him to come to the apartments. Specifically the fifth floor. From there, Simon encounters manifestations of his issues, even distorted versions of himself. All he can do is shoot and run.
Boomstick: Simon starts off with a Glock 19 and a knife. While yes, the Glock is quite weak, it has 15 rounds! That’s a lot!
Wiz: It also can be used alongside an iron sight, a tactile light, or if you run out of ammo, you can use the pistol whip. The pistol whip is what happens when you run out of ammo with a gun and try to attack an enemy. This action can also be used with Simon’s bare fist as well. While only the pistol does any damage to enemies when using the pistol whip, other weapons will only stun the opponents and push them back. This includes:
FAMAS
Browning HP 9mm
VP70
Taurus Revolver
Hunting Rifle
HK MP5
M16 Assault Rifle
AK-47
Brügger & Thomet MP9
M76
Gewehr 43
Remington 870
Ruger P345
Boomstick: Other weapons, including the pistol and fist, can break planks easily! This includes but is not limited to:
Axe
Pickaxe
Switchblade
Nightstick
Shovel
Sledgehammer
Branch
Wiz: With all these weapons, Simon can easily compete with the abominations within his mind.
Boomstick: Come back in a few for the preview of Darkwood’s protagonist, The Stranger!
