Connections:
Two of the most powerful antagonists in their respective sci-fi franchises that take place in a different time period (Gurren Lagann takes place in the distant future/Star Wars takes place a "long time ago).
They both started out as young, gifted heroes who didn't have much in life (Lordgenome lived by himself as a child, with his only company being his animal companions/Anakin used to be a slave as a child with his mother), however, they would get a call of adventure (Lordgenome would find Lagann and join the war against the Anti-Spiral/Anakin was sought out by Qui-Gon Jinn as the Chosen One).
These calls to adventure would lead to them joining an organization created to stop evil (The Spiral Warriors/The Jedi Knights) who utilized a special ability that seem supernatural but are in fact biological (Spiral Power via evolution/The Force via midi-chlorians) along with a mcguffin that creates weapons made of energy (Laganns/Lightsabers).
However, despite them being some of the most powerful of these organizations and also earning important roles in them (Lordgenome became a Spiral General/Anakin became part of the Jedi Council), they were manipulated by a black-clad villain who were the masterminds behind everything that happened in their worlds (Anti-Spiral/Palpatine) and convinced these heroes to turn on their allies for the “greater good” (Anti-Spiral installed despair into Lordgenome's mind by revealing to him the Spiral Nemesis/Palpatine offered Anakin the power to protect Padme, his lover, by joining the Dark Side).
These heroes eventually began massacring their allies after being corrupted until there weren't any left, which led to them becoming tyrants to their respective world/galaxy, now earning a new, menacing title (The Spiral King/Darth Vader) using an incredibly powerful and resourceful army (The Human Extermination Army/The Galactic Empire). However, despite their power with an iron fist, they were still simply pawns in the true antagonists’ plans.
After years of tyranny, they would face opposition from a ragtag team of heroes who would sabotage their operations and defeat their respective commanders (Team Dai-Gurren/Rebel Alliance).
Among this team was the protagonists of these stories who uniquely wielded the same artifacts that these tyrants did (Simon the Digger, the pilot of Lordgenome's former Lagann/Luke Skywalker, the Jedi wielder of Vader's former lightsaber).
These protagonists were key to defeating these tyrants and overpowering them, ending their tyranny once and for all.
However, even after their defeat, these villains had a redemption by helping the protagonists and being critical to the true main antagonists’ defeat by sacrifing themselves to stop them.
Additionally, both were kept alive via cybernetics after an event that should've killed them (Lordgenome was brought back to life after being killed by Simon as a biocomputer/Vader was kept alive after getting his limbs chopped off and getting burnt by lava via various cybernetic upgrades to his body).
They also both have daughters that were princesses (Nia Teppelin/Leia Skywalker).
