Good morning/afternoon/night to everyone who prowls about the Discussion Boards.
Recently, with the Death Battle Wiki moving to Miranze, we've seen an influx of users from there come to the DBFW to use the discussion boards. This is great as it means more users are coming over and sharing their ideas for DBs and other things related to it. But I think I speak for a lot of people when I say it loses its luster when you're forced into engaging with them.
Along with the increase of people coming in and using the DBs, there's been an increase of people mass pinging users in their posts in an attempt to draw attention to them or engagement farm. More times than not these people are pinged against their consent and have little to no interest in what that person is posting.
We'd like to remind everyone here that we have rules against mass pinging and engagement farming, which will be restated here.
Rule 3 in the Guidelines of the rules page
Please do not mass ping users without the consent of each user involved. Mass Ping is defined as using “@“ to notify multiple users for generally the same reason such as engagement farming.
Engagement farming is the use of pings by non-admins to try and draw attention to something they created.
Note: Some people will assume silence for complacency. If you are being pinged frequently by someone and do not want to be involved, you have a right to tell them to stop or report it to Staff.
Anyone who does this will be given warnings, keep doing it and blocks will start happening. We want everyone to share what they want but you should never, ever ping users unless you have their consent.
That being said, have a good day/night.
